hey, guys! it’s me, janetha g. i am back in the USA and am actually quite disappointed about the whole situation. usually when i go on vacation i get the “can’t wait to sleep in my own bed again” itch, but i didn’t experience that a single time in costa rica. yes, i missed the pups, my fam, and my friends.. but i think they’d all like it in costa rica just as much as i did, so everyone should just move there. that would solve everything.
no, but really, i am having a very hard time readjusting to reality. i am in a weird funk and this third cup of coffee isn’t helping me snap out of it. i assume i’ll be back to “regular” blogging (whatever that is, i kind of forget) soon.. but first, i need to figure out how to be back to “regular” life (again, kinda forget what that is.) no, but really, i feel weird. kind of empty, like something is missing.. maybe it’s the humidity. or the hammock. it’s definitely not the bug bites. but it’s something.. and i feel weird.
so instead of jumping into a trip recap (there will be one or two), i have decided to thank all my guest posters who submitted awesome material for you all to read while i was away!
thank you to:
- michelle for sharing her story on becoming a certified health coach
- lindsay for her tips.. and for being my most regular guest poster
- bria for the push to get started in yoga
- amanda for telling us to get more (and better!) sleep
- kelly for her tips on eating less sugar
- georgia for her ideas on how to fuel your fitness the vegan way
- katie for sharing her amazing weight loss story
- paige for her tips on becoming a trainer
- katelyn for her spunky life tips
- cait for her post full of tasty cocktail ideas
- momma b for her post on costa rica
all eleven of you are simply amazing and i appreciate your contributions SO much! (also, check your email, i need your addresses!)
i also want to thank all of those reading. for coming here daily to read rambles, whether they are mine or a guest poster’s, and for coming back each day again and again. thank you! you’re all so kind!
you know who else is kind? KIND healthy snacks. yeah, i’m that corny.

KIND was kind enough to send me this fantastic box of bars right before my trip. they definitely fueled the plane rides, layovers, bus journeys, hikes, and adventures in costa rica.

every time i try a new KIND bar flavor, i decide it is my favorite. i’ve been eating these for years and i still think that, every time i bite into a new-to-me flavor.

these eight flavors are no exception. they are all my new favorite flavors.. depending on which one i am eating at the moment. which, right now, happens to be the blueberry pecan. mmm.. tastes like pie.
one of the coolest things in life is finding out that the brand that makes a product you LOVE (and buy regularly, even before you talked to anyone from the brand) happens to be a really stand-up company. this has happened to me with chobani, PROBAR, nature’s path, and fitmixer.. just to name a few.
well, it’s time to add KIND to the list, because they truly are a company that stands behind their name.
along with the box of KIND bars, there was a card right in the center:

yep, that’s right.. not only did they gift me a box of bars, but gave me a card to do my own random act of kindness, and, in turn, pass the kind bar love along to someone else.
additionally, they have offered a KIND healthy indulgence cube (pictured above) to one of you!
there are a few ways to enter:
- leave a comment telling me the MOST RECENT random act of kindness YOU DID for someone else
- leave a comment telling me the BEST random act of kindness YOU RECEIVED from someone else
- follow @kindsnacks and @janeeetha on twitter and tweet: “@janeeetha is hosting a @kindsnacks giveaway: http://mealsandmovesblog.com/2012/07/29/youre-so-kind/” (leave a comment stating you did this)
the nitty gritty deets:
- The giveaway is open to both US and Canada residents
- The giveaway winner will receive The KIND Healthy Indulgence Cube (Retail Price – 42.95)
- KIND Healthy Snacks provided the cube to me free of charge and is providing the giveaway prize. No compensation was given for this post.
i will pick a random commenter on friday, august 3rd (my dad’s birthday!)
hope you all have had a really fantastic life lately. i can honestly say that i missed you all–both reading blogs and interacting with readers–but i cannot say i’m glad to be back. in fact, i am not even a little bit glad. dang it.. take me back to costa rica. please and thanks.

I donated clothes and also donated coupons as well as donate for various races for friends and myself.
My younger brother works as a lifeguard for several hours a day and had forgotten his lunch, so when I had a break I stopped by somewhere to pick up a sandwich for him and ran it by where he works.
Best random act of kindness was having someone behind me in the parking garage pay for me when I realized I had forgotten my wallet!
i follow you on twitter!
Sorry to hear about the funk :( I hope it passes quickly! My most recent act of kindess….just meeting up with a friend and really listening to her. She needed it!
Most recent act of Kindness – I made my boyfriend an awesome ham, egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast yesterday :-)
At the dog park this morning, another dog went after my dog (scary but my pup is okay). As I was leaving, I warned a woman walking into the park about the dog. She was very appreciative.
Welcome back! I hope you get out of your funk :)
tweeted the giveaway
Aww you have the ‘back from vacay’ blues! That’s when you know you’ve found one of your happiest places on earth :)
My pup and I opened our home to my neighbor and her dog when their ac went out for 2 days. Way too hot!!!
My landlord of 4 years was at the same restaurant as my boyfriend and I and he paid our check! It was awesome :)
I’m the same way after a long vacation. As much as I love it, I always can’t wait to get back home to my bed.
And KIND bars are the best!! Hmm best act of kindness recently….well a friend is going through tough times and I figured out a way for her to come spend a weekend away. Super excited to see her next week!
Welcome back!! We missed you! I kept my friends’ 3 boys the other night so that they could have a much needed date night! It was so fun plus a blessing to them!
An act of kindness that was given to me recently was that one of my girlfriends sent me a random “I’m thinking of you” card in the mail… even though she lives about 5 minutes away. It totally made my day!
I tweeted! :)
My random act of kindness was helping an old lady in my new apartment move some things into her room, I never met her before but saw her struggling so decided to give her a hand.
The nicest I received was definitely the comcast guy giving me a cable box even though it wasn’t on his work order. Bless him!
I tweeted!
YOU are welcome, love bug! I’ll move to Costa Rica in a second.
RAK: I bought someone a drank.
RAK #2: Someone bought ME a drank // brunch.
I picked up my office-mate a magazine when I was out getting coffee because it was about Chicago restaurants and I knew he’d love it!
Yay! Welcome back!
My random act was done while we were in NY. We walked by a homeless man a few times on the way to our hotel (who was always sleeping, never asking for anything) and one night after dinner we had a bunch of leftovers that we almost didn’t take because we didn’t have a fridge in the room, but I decided to take them incase the man was still there. He was there and he was awake. I was so excited to pass the food to him and he was very thankful and happy. I loved seeing him happy if only for a couple of minutes.
My brother let me borrow his car twice yesterday with no complaining! haha he’s a nice guy.
Love these bars! They’re right up there with my Fitmixer addiction! I buy them by the case and now will purchase them on line since most stores don’t have my favorites on hand. These fuel me when I’m on the go showing homes or tripping around the country! M
Just went on a Harley trip and my fellow traveler Holly gave me a pair of knitted sleeves. They are perfect to use when there’s a chill in the air and my arms get cold….thanks Holly for that awesome random act of kindness!!
I gave a fellow some money on a sidewalk in Salt Lake….may have been a scam but I’d like to think he really needed it….
Following both of ya!
I tweeted and follow both you and KIND on twitter!
Costa Rica sounds heavenly . . . I’ll have to visit someday! Hang in there–hopefully you’ll feel more like yourself soon. :)
The most recent act of kindess I did was I helped a stranger catch their dog when it escaped their house when I was out on my daily walk.
I tweeted and am following both you and KIND on twitter! :)
The best act of kindness I’ve received would probably be the time that I was moving into my apartment and my parents were helping me. My mom was obviously hurting from the day of moving, and these 3 young guys overheard. They asked if they could help in our place. It was really nice of them and helped me move into my apartment faster and my parents weren’t having to lift all my stuff up 3 flights of stairs.
Most recent…. hmmm.. I gave a homeless person my doggie bag with dinner from a restaurant I was at last night.
The best act of kindness I received… ha, good question, is that sad? I can’t really think or any random acts of kindness but the best overall are my parents supporting me through college (one more year)! That is the best and kindest gift.

my neighbors in the condo above me and I share a yard space. I keep up on cleaning up my dogs messes, they… kind of keep up. I decided one day to just clean up the entire space for them. they haven’t slacked since and that’s an appreciated kindness in return!
I hope the post vacay sadness fades :-/
I recently baked a bunch of cinnamon rolls from scratch to surprise my boyfriend’s coworker for his birthday. He just moved away from his home and his friends, so I thought it would be nice to do something for him.
the kindest thing that hat happened to me was when I was 19 I had a REALLY bad night. I called and left a voicemail to my bestfriend, and she left work the instant she recieved the message and drove 8 hours to San Diego to be with me. I had no idea until she arrived at my door the next day.
I tweeted
girl we love you and no worries about feeling blah about blogging and take your time to get back to your life. glad you had such an amazing time on your vacation!!!
hugs
I surprised my mom by driving home for dinner with her (2 hr drive) for her 60th birthday! She was so excited!
I visited a friend from our church in the hospital today and brought her a few things to make her smile.
There are so many generous acts of kindness people have done for me over the years! The best? Hmmm, that’s tough, but I’ll go with my mom just always being there for me no matter what and loving me uncondtionally. I’d say that’s pretty darn kind! ;)
I follow you both and tweeted!
I just gave my friend some pepper jelly from Pike Street Market that she loved but couldn’t buy because she wasn’t checking luggage.
I feel like people are much more kind to me!! That one is much easier! My co-worker bought me lunch at a wonderful Indian restaurant last week.

This morning as I was on my usual morning run, I saw a fellow runner up ahead of me. As I got closer and was closing the distance on us, she all of a sudden tripped and fell face first on the path. Of course I stopped to help her up and make sure she was alright, and aside from dirty hands and a skinned knee, she was okay!
As for someone doing something kind for me, I wasn’t having a very good day on Thursday and my best friend knew it and brought me a bouquet of gorgeous flowers and an IOU for a coffee date! It was just the thing I needed to put a smile on my face :)
i helped out an old friend who needed an extra player for her bball team. definitely a win-win, though!
I flagged down a bus for a random stranger and helped them find their way :)
I also LOVE Kind bars! My latest act of kindness was cleaning up from having guests over, and doing all the dishes without even asking my hubby to help . . . believe me, this is VERY kind of me to not bother him Welcome back.
Aw angel :( thats rubbish that you have the holiday blues!!! It really is a crappy feeling but you will soon get back in your groove.
Random act of kindness I did was give a lady my all day pass for the subway and random act received would be a lady in the gym hugged me because she told me her life story (this happens a lot) and I just listened. She then thanked me for listening and just gave me a huge hug!
I hope you have a good week
