happy valentine’s day!
here’s a random valentine’s day story for you.
i was at office depot yesterday grabbing some stamps, and the girl helping me randomly asked me if i had any valentine’s day plans. i figured it was just small talk, but boy, was i wrong. i told her no, that my husband and i weren’t really huge on valentine’s day, but we would be going to a concert that happened to fall on the 14th. she then launched into a whole spill about how valentine’s day is a load of crap. she said she studied anthropology in college and that the story behind valentine’s day was anything but loving.
she told me that it was some guy with the last name of valentine who was madly in love with some chick, but she didn’t love him back. so, on february 14th, he killed himself. and there was a LOT of blood—”that is what the red stands for,” she told me. the story didn’t end there. she then went on to tell me that this girl who didn’t even like valentine felt bad that he killed himself, so she went ahead and killed herself, too, just because she didn’t want to live with a guilty conscience. her voice had become louder and louder as the story went on, and she was super worked up. she finally exclaimed, “what’s so romantic about that?!”
i stood there with a blank stare on my face, totally caught off guard. i wasn’t sure that she was done.. but when she didn’t say anything else i just smiled and said, “wow, i had no idea…”
before i could elaborate on my thoughts of the story (which weren’t many) she cut me off saying, “don’t even get me STARTED on christmas. that is just something we all could do without!”
then, in an instant, she changed her tune (luckily, because i had no rebuttal to the christmas rant) and asked me where my wedding ring was from, because she had been seriously looking at rings and wanted to get engaged to her boyfriend.
and then i went back to my office.
very random.
i must say that i really don’t know the history behind most holidays. that’s probably very ignorant of me, but hey.. at least i am being honest. i am not sure if the story this gal told me about valentine’s day is true or not, but i really don’t have the desire to google it. as far as i am concerned, valentine’s day isn’t something to get super worked up about. sure, it’s nice to give and receive tokens of love.. but i never have been huge on the 14th of february. on years i was single, i didn’t get real depressed about it. on years i had a boyfriend, we would celebrate with a gift exchange and a nice dinner, which seemed forced and obligatory.
the first valentine’s day that marshall and i celebrated together in 2008 was one of those obligatory-type ones. we went to a fancy steakhouse, i wore a dress and heels in the dead of winter (that was back when it snowed in utah), we exchanged very expensive gifts, and ate chocolate fondue with strawberries in his bedroom after dinner. whew, it was way too much for me.
every valentine’s day since that one in 2008, marshall and i have celebrated with him making me tacos. it’s his signature dish and we’d rather eat at home and hang out with the pups, anyway.
and in 2009… the same thing happened, but no photo. i didn’t have this blog back then, but i mentioned it on my old blog.
we made a rule that gifts were not mandatory, nor were flowers, chocolates, or anything of the sort. however, we do usually exchange funny cards (i just wrote “funny carbs”—carbs on the brain, perhaps? probably a foreshadow of what’s to come in this post..) because we love cards. and last year marshall gave me a year of smoothies—meaning he would shave his face any time i asked. i’d say he did it about 67% of the time that i asked, and that’s not bad for a guy who hates to shave! i tried to not ask too often… but man, i love a clean-shaven marshall.
this year we actually will probably eat leftovers for dinner. we have leftover chili, chicken & wild rice soup, and healthy hamburger helper (recipe coming soon!) and then we are off to see cursive. we both love the band, so it’ll be a nice little valentine’s day activity. the only downside is the show doesn’t start til 9.. which means music will start around 10.. which means cursive probably won’t play til 11.. it’s going to be a late night!
although i don’t get valentines from my valentine, i did get a couple of fun things this year.
my boss gave me some chocolate covered strawberries.. and said, “these probably aren’t healthy…” as he handed them to me. haha. he knows me well. although a little chocolate never hindered a healthy eating plan, right?
and i got my gift from the valentine’s day exchange that christina held! it’s from carly over and soak and simmer.
thanks, carly! love the owl stuff.
i received an early valentine from my friends at nature’s path. when i got home from mexico about a week ago, i had a special delivery!
that’s right.. my FAVORITE granola is now available in four flavors instead of just one! you may have heard me raving about love crunch granola before. like here, here, and even here. i love it. randy loves it too, as mentioned here. that’s no surprise.. right? well, the original love crunch flavor is sold at costco in BIG bags, and let’s just say i eat way more of it than i should. i am a granola monster.
it should be no surprise that i eagerly agreed when nature’s path wanted to send me all the new flavors.
this original flavor has cocoa, flax, coconut, strawberries, raspberries, and dark chocolate chunks.
the apple crumble has pecans, green apples, chia, and cinnamon.
the aloha blend has coconut, white chocolate chunks, and pineapple.
the carrot cake has raisins, pecans, yogurt bits, carrots, and pineapple.
oh boy. talk about amazing granola overload. each day, i have a handful of each flavor and try to decide which i like best.
i have eaten a lot of granola.
i still can’t pick a favorite.
see?
that was a facebook exchange i had with nature’s path. i seriously CANNOT PICK a favorite. luckily, i don’t have to. they’re all so perfect.
aside from being delicious, love crunch granola has a few other pros:
- all flavors are USDA certified organic
- all flavors have 14-15 grams of whole grain per serving
- all flavors are low in sodium and contain no trans fat or cholesterol
- there is a touching love story behind the love crunch line (found here)
additionally, nature’s path is known for their generosity and they always make sure to give back to the community. for every bag of love crunch that is sold, they will donate the equivalent in cereal or cash (up to $1 million) to food banks. they have dubbed this the “bite4bite” initiative to create “love bundles” for those in need.
nobody is paying me to say that nature’s path is a stand-up company with impressive values and equally as impressive products. i can’t get enough of them!
if you would like to win a package of the four love crunch flavors, here’s your chance.
one commenter on this post will receive a lovely package of granola.. all you have to do is comment. no crazy requirements. i will announce the winner on friday, february 17th. update: giveaway is now closed.
and for the rest of you who just can’t wait to get your hands on the new flavors, you can buy it at the following locations:
- whole foods
- costco (red berries & dark chocolate flavor only. but it comes in a BIG BAG and it is criminal how cheap it is… not that i would know…)
- online in six packs:
- local specialty stores
i am trying to pace myself when eating the four bags of granola, but i think i may need to re-stock before the month is over.
well, that’s enough out of me. check ya later! happy love day!
Qs~
1. do you pay attention to the origin of holidays? thoughts?
2. how do you feel about facial hair? random.. but i am curious.
xo. janetha g.
*i got the granola for free. nature’s path is providing the giveaway prize. i wasn’t paid anything.

I <3 granola!!!!!!!! Happy Valentine's Day! :)
I actually love facial hair. My boyfriend works at a refinery so he sometimes has to wear a respirator. He has to shave every couple days or his respirator won’t fit right. I love when he has a few days off and doesn’t shave and gets that scruffy look.
PS the aloha granola looks so tasty!
Pick me pick me :). Love your blog!
That girl seemed a little crazy for randomly ranting to a stranger like that…
Anyway, I somewhat care about the origin of holidays. I don’t celebrate Halloween because it’s pointless unless you’re a little kid, IMO. All the other holidays we celebrate pretty traditionally I would say.
Hahah..Sounds like that girl was a bit lonely and bitter and preyed on a helpless stranger! Quite the story though- I’ll give her that..
When it comes to facial hair, I feel like it depends on the guy.. My husband looks best with a few day stubble or clean shaven- and I think I’m more of a fan of that. Some guys really rock the facial hair as part of their personality- and I think it definitely works for some of them..
Coconut granola?! YUM YUM- I would love some :)
ooh!! the dark chocolate and red berries looks delicious!! i’m a sucker for dark chocolate….i may need to forego the gym tonight to hit up my costco to see if they have it in stock!
i HATE HATE HATE facial hair on my man. i don’t mind it much on other people (esp celebs…ow ow!)–but when it comes to my man, he needs to be cleanly shaven. i hate stubble. it hurts! long beards/mustaches just gross me out. don’t worry–this is a constant argument with my boyfriend when it comes to his facial hair. he threatens to grow it out or if i’m being difficult or if we’re in a fight–he’ll purposely not shave in spite of me (jerk.)
That sounds sooo good! Haven’t seen it at my Costco yet though. :(
I love your blog! and the aloha granola sounds yummy!
I am dying to try this stuff! Anything with dark chocolate and berries HAS to be good. Mmmmmm!
Happy Valentine’s Day.
Oh GOSH those look so good. If only to inspire me to actually buy a bag! Or make my own version if I get un-lazy!
I would love to try this granola!
i love me some red berries and dark chocolate!
I didn’t know any of that story about the origin of Valentine’s Day! My students asked me about it today and I said, “we’ll look it up later…” which is what I always say when I don’t feel like doing it at the moment. Maybe I should be glad I didn’t know the story :-)
That granola all looks delicious!!
Yummy, all this talk of granola is making me hungry! I am definitely going to have to try the new flavors out!
Granola please!
i love the looks of a little scruff on my man, but kissing him when he has a little scruff is a different story.
DAMN I want that DAMN granola! <3
i loooooooove granola!!!!!!!!!
Ha; that Valentine’s Day story she told you is totally false. I wonder what her Christmas story was!
GRANOLA
What a random story! Haha Happy Valentines! Lurv me some granola! :)
That is a random moment to have, especially at Office Depot! I”m with you though…not worth the time to Google though.
I’m new to your page so I look forward to seeing whats out there!
~y
Those all look super delicious. Thanks for the great photos. I would love to try the granola – even the original looks amazing!
Um wow at the story! lol so weird. That granola looks deeeelish.
I actually don’t like facial hair that much. I think it all depends on the guy really. Some just look better with it. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Red berries and dark chocolate. Where’s my Costco cards?
Happy V-Day! I am with you on not paying attention to the origin. Who cares? As long as you do what you like, it shouldn’t matter.
Oh, and granola looks gooooooood!
I’m not a big fan of Valentine’s Day because of the pressure that always seems to surround it. Years I had a boyfriend it was always tough to actually convince them I didn’t want anything special or overdone because they read that as code for “I’m saying I don’t want it, but I’ll be pretty upset if you act like its any other day” – except I really wanted it to be like any other day. The best Valentine’s I ever had was just me and my ex renting a movie and making dinner together. We got to spend time together but there wasn’t anything to stress about.
I think you and Marshall have the right idea with your tradition and hope you enjoy your concert tonight!
Nicole G
I do pay attention to the origin of holidays because of Jason’s religious beliefs. Before him, I had no idea. I continue to celebrate them all, regardless. Meh! I love facial hair. Love it! Now I’m going to go buy some granola. They all look delicious! Happy Valentines Day!
This has nothing to do with this post, but I had a dream about you last night.
I was in Utah for some reason and I was bringing Charlie to the vet (because that’s what I would go to Utah for?) – and you were at the vet with Marshall and Randy (because he ate all the Larabars and you were concerned). I walked past you all non-nonchalantly, hoping you would notice it was me but I was too scared to say anything. Turns out, you did – but only because I circled you like ten times and I had my dog with me. Then we ditched the vet and went to your place (which was in the same building as the vet) and made dinner.
The end.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
If you’re able to ship to Canada, I’d love to win the granola! I haven’t seen it here yet :(
Haha, I would have been a little weirded out if that happened to me. I always thought Valentines Day had something to do with a massacre, with more than just one person? I’m not entirely sure though. I really wish I knew more about where holidays come from.
That granola looks amazing, I wonder if they have it at Costco in Canada too.
granola > facial hair
Ohhh my, I want them all. Valentine’s Day? Meh.. I don’t feel much towards it. But it’s certainly nice that my boyfriend came home with cookies from Flour and is making dinner.
And facial hair, love the look, but haaate the feel of it when it scratches my face.
will have to keep an eye out for this granola at whole foods. now off to google the valentine story…
Found your blog while reading posts on vitalious Facebook page. Glad I did! I would love to win the granola!
Yum, I would love to try this! Happy vday!
I don’t pay attention to the origins, but I do love hearing the random stories. I’m pretty sure that staples chick’s story wasn’t true, but I, like you, am not going to bother to google it! :)
I’d love to try this granola! Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway, Janetha!
I would love to try the carrot cake….I’m on the lookout for it!
those granolas all sound delicious!
aloha blend or carrot cake are really UNIQUE and not something every other company is doing…they look awesome.
Happy Valentines day!
I actually just tried the apple cinnamon this past week. It didn’t last long! Next up to try is the Carrot Cake!
Mmmm…. granola!
you win! email me your address! mealsandmoves at gmail dot com. congrats.
That. Granola. Looks. Fantastic!!
Wish the Aloha flavour was available at Costco!
Oh how I would loveeee to win the loveeee :)
omg carrot cake granola sounds amazing!!
I saw it at Costco last time I was there and half the bag is gone. It is so good.
Mmmmmm……the carrot cake granola sounds delicious!
Oh man, that granola looks like perfection! I’m all about the big chunks!!
No Idk anything about holidays! And Im glad I don’t have to worry about facial hair :)
I got that same yellow owl from Barbara’s mom for Christmas :) have a great valentines day! Love you!
That’s such a cute owl platter!!! And crazy story.. Awkward :)
They all look soo delicious!!!!
I love your blog! Aloha granola sounds so yummy and it is fun to say. Carrot cake granola sounds very interesting. I would have trouble picking a favorite too. Hope I get to try them all out.
LOVE the original love crunch!! it would be awesome to win so i can try all the other flavors!!
Happy vday! Would love to try love :)
My man is in the army, so he has to shave almost daily; I love that he can get away with a little scruff while on leave!
Thanks for the giveaway!
Thanks for the giveaway! I’d love to try this as I’ve only ever tried a couple different brands of granola.
That red berries and dark chocolate sounds yummy. :)
I don’t much like valentines day because it just puts pressure on people to do special stuff for one another that they should do occasionally anyways. I don’t think it should be on a given day.
I LOVE it when Travis has a short little beard..he keeps it clean around the edges with electric clippers. Once he grew a handle bar mustache – that was fun to kiss. NOT.
(yep, a NOT. Just for you on Valentine’s Day.)
most holidays have just turned into money-makers in my opinion…there’s definitely more focus on all the holiday/specialty products than the actual meaning/origin of the day!
btw. i, too, am a granola monster. :)
My boyfriend looks so damn good with scruff but I prefer to kiss a clean shaven face :)
You have THE BEST random stories that always crack me up! Not sure what I would’ve done if that happened to me in Office Depot (of all places) LOL.
I’ve never tried the granola but it sounds FAB and I totally trust your opinion. Hope you enjoy your at-home Valentine’s Day!
The aloha sounds amazing…. I love coconut
i really don’t think about the origin of holidays (besides Christmas and Easter!) but I probably should!
oooh, those flavors all sound delicious, i’d have a hard time picking my favorite, too!
completely random exchange at office depot, lol. i hate valentine’s day… but most others i’m ok with ;) nothing special today, and that’s ok. just wish i didn’t have to see it everywhere!
Haha, so I totally thought you were going to say that the girl asked you out! LoL. What a weird occurrence though.
I just saw these granolas at the Health Food Store and wanted so desperately to buy them but I couldn’t decide on which one and ended up not getting any. :( I adore Nature’s Path and all of their wonderful products.
With one of my fav colors being pink and the hopeless romantic in me i do love valentines. I have yet to have that prince charming to spend it wth :/ but in due time. As for facial hair, i like my guys a little scruffy not too much though.
Hmmm sounds disturbing, that valentines story. Still no reason to hate it that much though! You and Marshall celebrate it like my boyfriend and I do…simple and sweet and at home.
The facial hair is awesome! Love facial hair on guys. But can understand women not liking it because stub-rub isn’t fun on your face/skin.
ohmygah! that granola is so BALLER
they all sound so good! happy valentine’s day!
I am totally in stitches reading about the random valentine rant – and I can so picture your expression……….huh?!? Who knew haha!
You and your sweetheart have the right idea – enjoy your night out!
Love you both xoxo!!
The aloha blend looks amazing!
WOW that granola looks so good! We are granola monsters in our house, too… usually homemade.
Facial hair is great when it’s a little scruff.. but it is SO scratchy!!! Can’t decide if the scratch is worth the sexy.
:)
Carrot cake granola…yum!
Clean shaven all the way.
I want to try the aloha kind. :) And I choose to not pay much attention to valentine’s day, too.
That granola looks awesome! I love the look of some scruff, but it’s much nicer to kiss a clean shaven face ;)
Hm, I’d love to try the Aloha! I’m a sucker for coconut.
My SO can’t grow a beard or I will freak out. No really, when we first started dating he was rocking the scruff look and all of the making out caused my chin to start peeling. I’m a delicate girl. :)
I really want to try them all I love granola
I love granola and those flavors all sound amazing! Thanks for a great giveaway.
that granola looks absolutely amazing! i need to get to costco ASAP.
Happy valentine’s day! Some granola would make it extra sweet… haha
I like facial hair on other guys, but any time the BF tries to grow out some facial hair, I hate how prickly it is! He can’t really grow a full beard anyway. Good think I find him handsome clean shaven. :D
yum those flavors look SOOOOO GOOD!!!
I think that random chick and the dude I work with would make good friends, in a weird awkward sort of way! He kept telling and re-telling his version of the origin of Valentine’s day – something about how it started back with Catholicism was much more lenient with priests loving on little boys. There just so happened to be a Saint Valentine that was quite the pedophile and therefore he got a holiday…or something like that?!
Oh, and the guy telling this story repeatedly?! He was my supervisor…and he told it very loudly at the bakery we work at meaning that 90% of the people attempting to enjoy their meal got to hear it. You better believe my respect level for him went way….well, not up!
All of that being said – we didn’t do anything for Valentine’s day and we never do. My favorite part of the holiday is the 15th – when all the candy goes on sale! :)
Woah!! I would LOVE to try carrot cake granola. Looks delicious.
The story about the origin of Valentine’s Day was pretty random and, I have to admit, I’ve definitely heard a different story… heh.
I was JUST drooling over this at the grocery store!!
I buy Love Crunch at Costco and this post is giving me MAJOR cravings as I am currently out.
WOW… I’m sure you looked completely dumbfounded! That’s too funny! I like when Nate is clean-shaven too…although it RARELY happens. Guys these days are so lazy! ;) Oh and I know nothing about the origin of holidays….glad she went to college to learn that, though!
My boyfriend had facial hair (similar to Marshall’s) on our first date, and I hated it. Now, four years later, I hate when he shaves. I guess it grew on me! Just..not literally
Have fun at your concert :)
Love granola – especially in Greek yogurt :)
I already know how good the Love Crunch is, but every time I scrolled down to see the other flavors I was like “I have to find that..I have to find THAT..no wait..I must find that (carrot cake)!”
Granola should be it’s own food group.
I agree with you about clean-shaven husbands ;) I would love to try the chocolate red berry or the Apple crumble granola. Sounds awesome!!
Whoa, sounds delicious!
Hope you enjoy the concert. Happy Valentine’s Day.
Would love to win it for my husband. I like him clean shaven.
mmmm granola! i don’t have any in the house and would love some of this (because i’m too lazy to make more)
…. they carry it at COSTCO???
might need to go grocery shopping tomorrow.
Love Crunch sounds amazing! And what a freaking debbie downer that lady was.
This is on sale at the organic grocer near me this month and I haven’t tried it. I think that’s a sign!
I love me some granola :)
I don’t cereal in the house. It’s one of my weaknesses but this may be worth it so I can try the red berry, dark chocolate. Yummy!
Ooooh, looks delish. Signing up for Costco membership. . . now.
how could you decide on your favorite when all of them look and sound so delicious!!! I love granola and find any excuse to eat it with any meal
My birthday is the 18th so a bag of tasty granola (remember th twitter exchange?) would be a great early bday present!
1. I went to catholic school so, yes, I know all about the story of St. Valentine.
2. No facial hair, but the cute basset doesnt hurt either :)
I don’t pay much attention to the origins of holidays and if I would have been on the other end of that rant I would have been surprised if I didn’t start giggling….wow!
As for facial hair, I don’t mind a little stubble…my hubby actually looks better like that. He did a bet with a guy he works with and couldn’t shave for a month though and that was ridiculous. It looked like he had a 70′s porn star mustache and I couldn’t stop staring at it. I couldn’t wait til he shaved that stuff off!
I have got to try this granola….sounds yummy!
I love the first love crunch! It’s so delicious. Haven’t tried the others yet though..
Hahaha what a bizarre office depot check-out experience…I love the response you gave after her rant. I wonder if she told every customer that story or if you were just….lucky?
Oh my goodness…the pecans in the carrot cake flavor look AH-mazing!
I love some granola topped on yogurt. Low-key Valentine’s over here too, lots of lovin’ food was exchanged this year- no gifts :)
I have been dying to try their new flavors but haven’t been able to find them in a store! Carrot cake sounds so yummy!
Ooh I love granola on my yogurt. The Aloha blend sounds great for the pineapple!
I would love to try this!
Facial hair? Leave of. Smooth is much better for kissing. ;) No weirdness meant & just being honest, but I agree smooth Marshall is handsome!
I would love to win so I can try this brand; no stores where I live carry it. Thanks for the chance.
The granola looks tasty! I just picked up a bag of Dark Chocolate Pomegranate bites from Costco. They are so freaking good I can’t get my hand out of the bag. Do (not) look for these when you go there next.
Yum! I sometimes neglect to get enough fat in my diet, and granola is a big help with that. :)
All of the new flavors look wonderful. Happy Valentine’s Day!
That girl’s valentines rant is HILARIOUS! Loved it! I also tend to give TMI about random topics to people all the time :) My husband and I decided to have an anti-valentines valentine dinner at home… complete with espressotini’s, Avett Brothers on vinyl and champagne…. i could actually be drunk while writing this comment… maybe. Probably. ;)
I would LOVE to win this granola. I am ADDICTED to cereals. I cannot go a day without a HUGE bowl of cereal drowned in milk.
I also prefer guys to be smooth. No beard is my personal preference, lol! :)
Can’t wait to try these!
Oh boy, do I want some Aloha Blend now!
Mmmm Aloha sounds tasty! I say clean-shaven – I don’t like prickly stubble stabbing my face! Hope the girl at office depot had a nice valentine’s day haha.
Oooh can’t wait to try that granola! As for facial hair – I like the look, but not the feel.
yum! Gimme! Although if I win these, I’m going to have to make my roommates hide them and ration them out to me, I have no self-control when it comes to granola or cereal.
I’m all about facial hair… not sure what it is about it but I always find myself attracted to guys who can pull it off well! My last boyfriend usually rocked the facial hair, and it’d always freak me out when he would shave because he looked so different.
OMG – all those flavors sounds great! As for facial hair, I’m a huge fan – there is something really sexy about a man with stubble.
i JUST got a costco membership.. hmm, but said i wasnot going to go back tooo often..
now you are tempting me!
There is a chance that the holiday terrorist you met was going to have to buy the ring and propose since she likely isn’t getting an offer from the boyfriend anytime soon…whackjob.
Anyway…happy v-day.
That story is kind of psycho. lol. I would have been slightly freaked out if someone came up and did that to me. I’m a fan of the way facial hair looks on guys who have dark hair but I’m not a fan of the way it feels. Those granola flavors all sound so good. I am pumped that they don’t include walnuts in the apple or carrot cake flavors because I am allergic. That makes me like the company just from that little detail. :)
Awesome giveaway!!
I like a little, well-groomed facial hair. A goatee, van dyke, or soul patch is sexy. The full-on ZZ Top or Grizzly Adams facial hair, not so much. Lucky for me, DH alternates amongst the former and smooth, which is also adorable on him. :-)
Hope you enjoy cursive!!
I would LOVE to try the new flavors from Nature’s Path….to answer the random facial hair question-anything more than stubble honestly either grosses me out or makes me think of old mean. Thankfully my fiance feels the same way : )
I love learning about the origins of holidays or any customs/traditions! I think people like that employee get too caught up with hating holidays though.. it’s meant to be celebrated! It’s part of culture for meanings to change, and it’s bound to happen with holidays such as Valentine’s Day and Christmas. But I guess the hatred is born because we’re kinda pressured into thinking it’s some glorious celebration and it creates expectations and disappointment?
I would have never had claimed to have a ‘thing’ for facial hair but I’ve dated a couple of guys with beards and my friend Amanda now pictures me with some bearded man eventually…guess deep down I do like it!
holy. moly. delicous! As I read the descriptions of each, I was wondering which you’d say was the best because they ALL sound SO good! No wonder you can’t choose!
Omg! What would I do with all that granola?!
thanks for the giveaway, j!
i don’t follow origins of various hols, at all. it’s the present time that counts!
not a fan of any facial hair. i don’t like prickles!
PS> you going to Mutemath at In the Venue tonight or Cursive at Urban??
aw dang! We were planning on going to Cursive tonight but got too tipsy at home! haha! Hilarious! :)
oh man, these flavors of granola look awesome!
This granola looks so yummy! And I def prefer clean shaven! That free smoothie gift sounds like something my boyfriend should consider!
I’d love to try! Always looking for good new snacks!
um, that granola looks crazayy good.
awesome giveaway!
Love granola!
Love clean shaven!
Love holiday trivia!
Love this post!!
these flavors will be perfect with yogurt or a spoonful of nut butter
Oh man, all those flavors look good! Especially the one with dark chocolate in it. Mmmmm.
i’ve never tried nature’s path granola – and never even noticed it at costco. i usually try to have tunnel vision there and only go for the things i shop for….i do enough damage that way as it is!
we stayed in and had blt’s and spaghetti squash (roasted with garlic & parmesan) for v-day. i gave brad a card + reeces peanut butter hearts and he scraped the snow/ice off my car this morning & did the dishes tonight. that’s my kind of valentine’s day. :)
The Aloha one sounds amazing….I must get my hands on some!
Yummmm… I think Valentine’s Day is over-rated but it is nice to have a day just to relax and spend time with your significant other.
Love your blog and honesty! Also love cereal and granola ;)
Oh my god, this granola sounds incredible! I want to win this so badly lol.
I don’t really pay attention to the holiday origins. I just think Valentine’s Day is overrated, honestly. But thi giveaway is kind of making my day :)
Oh my I need this in my life! just like I need my man with a gotee :D
I lovelovelove Love Crunch Granola! Awesome giveaway…and I love your blog.
mmm the dark chocolate and red berries granola looks so yummy! And i’m with you on the smooth faces, facial hair can be so scratchy sometimes!
My bf.has always had a beard and I love it! When he shaves I feel like he looks so young!
Also the aloha mix sounds aaaahmazing.
The original and carrot cake sound DELICIOUS!
Where’d this chick get her history lesson from – a Cracker Jack box? That is NOT the history of Valentines Day! How ridiculous. I do like origins of holidays, traditions, etc.
Anyhow mu hubby and I are low key Valentiners too. I don’t see the point in spending all that money on flowers that will just die. But we do give cards.
I like a little scruff but not full beards or mustaches (except on Clark Gable!)
Love the look of my mans beard-not the feel!
I love granola, but they just don’t have any good stuff here in Kenya and I’m much too lazy to make it myself. These all sound delicious – particularly the Aloha blend…with coconut!
As for Valentine’s Day, last year my husband and I went all out (similar to you and Marshall) and it wasn’t nearly as much fun as this year, where we went out to a low-key local Ethiopian restaurant and ate with our hands! Then we came home and watched episodes of Boardwalk Empire…I’m totally hooked.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
YUM! Those all look amazing…especially the carrot cake!
And I’m totally with you on low-key Valentine’s Day celebrations…I’d much rather be cozy at home than try to brave the crowds :)
carrot cake granola is genius!
My husband can grow quite the burly red beard (he doesnt even have red hair!) For christmas he gave me 30 days of “smoothies” & Its continued with multiple bribes!
i remember seeing this on your blog a while back, and meant to make a mental note to buy it, but totally forgot! i love nature’s path flax granola, and would love to try the love crunch!
I love the story behind Love Crunch granola, it’s a great message! Awesomely creative granola flavors too ;)
That chocolate flavored one looks amazing! Ps – I’ve been hunting for a new camera on Craigslist. Maybe I’ll get lucky?
Yum! Those all look so good!!
Sounds delicious! I’d love to try some :)
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY GIRL!
I am DEFINITELY a granola monster too. If it’s wrong to have 5 different flavors at one time, then I don’t want to be right.
Happy Valentine’s Day :) That carrot cake flavor sounds AMAZING!
oh look at those huge chunks. that granola looks GOOD
I have never seen Love Crunch at my grocery store but this week they had them and on sale….I was about to buy all the favours and held off…because I knew I would love them and form a granola addiction…so I made my own…probably not as good:)
Sounds good :)
hope you’re having a blast at the concert :D
I need some of that granola!!!!! Ordering some online as soon as I don’t win the random giveaway ;) also I loooove me some bearded men!
i don’t LOVE facial hair because it hurts my face when kissing. it makes my face kinda itchy! and i haven’t paid attention to holiday’s origins but after your encounter, i sure am intrigued.
love granola!
the granola clusters look sooo good.
I don’t think much about holidays…..buuut I do agree with you that a clean-shaven face is great. I don’t mind a little stubble, but no one wants beard burn!
I love that you guys have low key nights in—so much nicer and less crazy!
Those granola mixes look insane…I can’t wait to get my hands on some!
the carrot cake mix looks very yummy
Thank you for hosting this giveaway

I LOVE GRANOLA!
happy valentine’s day! yum…the carrot cake granola sounds delicious!
I would love to try some of that granola! :)
I definately have to try the carrot cake and the apple crumble. I have a weak spot for pecans!
Hey Janetha! Wow what an awkward run in with the girl at office depot….complete over-share of information lol! I once had someone rant to me about how much they hated easter when I was working at a chocolate store….he then proceeded to buy about 10 easter gift baskets and bunnies. I wasn’t quite sure what to say to him when he left the store….
Oh and facial hair…I like smooth, but 5 o’clock shadow can look SO sexy as well don’t ya think???
I never used to be interested in Holiday origins until I got older. I needed to know the meaning!
I don’t always know the history behind smaller holidays (like St.Patrick’s day!) but still like the celebration and fun colors/goodies that come with them.
As far as the granola goes I’d have to go with the dark chocolate and berries! The others are tempting too!
OOOOHHHH!! Love love love this granola! Thanks for sharing the love! xo
okay….the carrot cake granola looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I’ve got to try it! I like to put granola in my oatmeal for breakfast–it adds a nice crunch & a new texture to it!
as for holiday origins…I don’t know too much about them but I love hearing myths and folk tales! It’s especially interesting when I find out that some of our traditions have cult-ish backstories!
Wow how random with that girl! Valentines day has never been a big deal to me, my fiance and I usually at least do a dinner but it’s never somewhere fancy just somewhere we both enjoy. Like this year we went to a favorite vegan restaurant that we just haven’t been to in awhile. It was quiet, cozy and perfect!
And that carrot cake granola looks amazing!!! Would love to try it!
Hope you had a great day!!
never tried Love Crunch granola but the new flavors sound mouth-watering!
I’ve never tried this granola and, oh my, I must asap! The carrot cake flavor sounds amazing!!!!!!!!!
Red berries and dark chocolate sound delicious!
I had a similar experience a work today. The lady at the front desk began telling me how she grew up never celebrating Valentines Day, so now she and her husband don’t because it is stupid. Along with mothers day and fathers day!
The aloha blend looks delicious!
Oh man, oh man! I gotta try this granola!!
Those flavors all sound delicious! I think the dark chocolate and red berries is the one that I would most like to try. :)
ahhhhhhh I desperately need more granola in my life!!!
Hopefully the granola gods will help me win this.
something tells me the anthropology chick had been scorned recently, sorry that you were the poor soul that had to endure her outburst
that granola looks divine. I guess I prefer the hubby clean shaven as a comfort issue…beards can be soo itchy. But he is still pretty attractive with a little scruff ;)
YUMMY looking granola!
I love facial hair! My hubby has a nice, thick beard and I just love it!
That looks like AMAAAZING granola..must try!
Oh yes. That carrot cake one. I’m from Holland,
don’t even know if you would ship to there,
but I couldn’t hold it in and had to try!
oh gosh!! i gotta say i couldn’t decide which flavor for me! I enjoy reading your posts, they’re always interesting, and funny!!
as for facial hair….off with it!!!
YUM. Our local organic / local food shop had all these to try a few weeks back. I almost got the carrot cake one, but I was on a mission to find a “low points” cereal, and these are 6-7 points per 1/4 c serving, and most cereals are more like 2-3 for a 3/4-1 c serving, so I got some peanut butter puffins instead. I’ve been wanting some of this ever since though.
I do pay attention to the origin of holidays. In fact, I have a theory that Christmas really is an American holiday now because it’s gone so far from the Christian tradition that it’s become an Americanized thing instead of a Christian thing. But that’s just me.
Facial hair? I used to HATE it. Loathe it. But that’s because I used to date a guy who couldn’t grow it. It would come in all patchy and trashy. Gross. The guy I’m dating now has a beard and would look like a 10-year-old without it (true story). I told him when we started dating that the beard would have to go, but then he showed me a picture of him without a beard. Needless to say, he still has facial hair. And a lot of it.
i think there are so many stories behind valentine’s that it’s too confusing!! when i saw that pic of marshall clean shaven i didn’t even know it was him!!!!!!! my husband has been sporting a beard for awhile now…it’s really good after he trims it (got a trimmer for him for xmas)
I would love to try this granola – no wheat in it is a major bonus for me :)
Living abroad, holidays are WAY less commercialized, so you realize how much hype there is in the states. Sometimes I miss it and sometimes I like that the holidays are more pure and about the actual day than all the other social pressures to get gifts and decorate.
Carrot cake granola, oh my. We have maple pecan in our pantry right now and its amazing.
I would love to try the aloha granola. looks delicious!
The original love crunch looks amazing! As does the carrot cake and apple flavors….mmmmm. If I had to choose, I guess I would try the original love crunch….dark chocolate is just so amazing :-)
I think I’d have a hard time choosing a favorite too. They all look delicious! I do know the history on most holidays, but it doesn’t make me want to celebrate them any less. Facial hair? My husband always has it in some form. He goes from just a ‘stache (uh huh) to full on grizzly man beard and everything in between. He did have a smooth face on our wedding day per my request. But, I figure, he lets me do whatever I want with my head of hair, I can do the same for his facial hair.
The nuts in the carrot cake granola look so yummy! I would love to try.
LOVE granola and all sound delicious!
I don’t think I could choose a favorite flavor, either! They all look so good!
Now, about the origin of holidays, I do like to learn about them. (I have a bit of a history nerd in me.) But I don’t let the origin determine whether I want to celebrate said holiday or not. I like to determine my own meaning to holidays, I guess? Like Valentines Day? It’s just a good excuse to celebrate people I love (not limited to my husband).
i beg and beg and beg my husband to grow out his facial hair. he has such a cute beard :) thanks for the giveaway!!
I love the fact that thsi company gives back to the community — how wonderful! I honestly don’t pay any attention to the origin of holidays and probably should. Also….facial hair looks fantastic on some people while clean shaven looks best on some! And, personally, I don’t like mustaches – they totally creep me out.
So glad you liked your owls!!
i don’t really pay attention to holiday origins, but i do know that the first american valentines were created in my home-town.
as far as facial hair goes, i’m a fan. i actually prefer facial hair so long as it’s maintained (trimmed nicely, shaped, etc… not just neglected neck hair). what can i say, i like my men (husband) rugged :)
i have got to find that aloha granola. coconut anything is my favorite.
I would love to win the 4 pack of granola. The dark chocolate and red berries look delicious.
HAHA that story about Office Depot had me laughing out loud. Some people share wayyy too much with strangers. And that granola looks delicious. I always struggle to find a good granola that’s not FULL of sugar, and at only about 6 grams per serving, that is pretty good when most of the granola in the stores has 10+ grams.
I MUST HAVE THE CARROT CAKE! YUM!
I love anything with coconut! Sounds like all the flavors are really tasty, I just may have to peruse costco for a bag!
I love when my man is clean shaven! No tickly/prickly whiskers to scratch my face when we kiss!
the carrot cake one sounds sooo good!
I much prefer my man clean shaven. I’ve never been able to get used to stubble when you kiss and brush cheeks. It always feels like rough sandpaper! Can’t blame the men for not wanting to shave every day though. It must get to be such a pain!
I just bought their cereal (Crunchy Vanilla Sunrise) from Costco last weekend. I cannot stop eating it! It is one of the best gluten-free cereals that I have come across! I will be buying the Love Crunch ASAP! I didn’t realize they were the same products that you have raved about since they changed to new packaging.
That Granola looks to die for!!! Yum. Just yum.
I knew that about Valentine’s day but didn’t know if it was just a myth. Kind of morbid and unromantic..
I used to get really hyped up about holidays. Commit to each one in the fullest. I decided it wasn’t worth the pressure and unrealistic expectations to make Vday a big deal, now that I’m madly in love everyday now.
So I told Simon NO gifts NO surprises NO obligations this year. And I mean it. But he managed to come home with a lovely dinner to make me with some sparkling Martinellis and a cupcake to share for dessert. It was the sweetest. I am way too lucky.
I like stubble facial hair, I hate it beyond that. I love it when there’s a 1-2 hasn’t shaved look but nothing more.
The flavors look so delicious – can’t wait to try!
I would kill to try the carrot cake flavor!
I could seriously inhale all four bags of that granola in record time – sounds dangerous, but I’ll take my chances! :)
Every flavor looks awesome and i most definitely prefer my man clean shaven
They all look fabulous to me!! Would love to try them!
Mmmm, Aloha Crunch sounds really tasty….
1. I like to know a little bit about the origin of holidays, but for the most part, they are what you make them and hopefully you make them something good. =)
2. Shaven or not all depends on the person. I could imagine trying to kiss a scratchy faced guy. Luckily Mick doesn’t have facial hair like that, he and I much prefer facial hair on him, but it is not scratchy. =)
I don’t think the origin of a holiday is important, it’s the spirit of the holiday that we should keep in mind.
Carrot cake granola? Can’t wait to try that one.
CArrow cake granola sounds like heaven in my mouth!!! I’ll salvaiting as I write this….
Kudos to you dealing with facial hair. 99% of the time I am not a fan. The right look has to pull it off. Plus I have sensitive skin which is no fun for kisses.
The apple granola looks amazing! I would love to try some. Regarding holidays, I don’t usually pay attention to the origin, but I probably should. The sources of our common traditions can be really fascinating. On facial hair, I have to say, I’m a big fan. I’m looking forward to my boyfriend participating in March Mustache Madness this year, where he and his friends grow hilarious facial hair… just ’cause.
O.! The aloha blend looks delicious!
My hubby and I don’t celebrate valentine’s day either, the first year we were together we did nice gifts, but since my birthday is the 25th and our anniversary is next month we find it silly. Instead we surprise each other with small momentos throughout the year.
As for the random girl, I think she told you the wrong story. Valentines Day is named after St. Valentine, his feast day is February 14th. He was a Christian Matyr who was beheaded for marrying christian couples. There is more to the story you can read about it here (if you are interested) http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=159
I have been eating my weight in cereal lately.
The Aloha sounds divine – coconut? sign me up. I’m sitting here drinking coffee flavored with coconut milk and eating So Delicious blueberry flavored coconut yogurt!
The aloha blend sounds awesome. I’d love to try it!
i love granola.. and new types to try!
I am OBSESSED with granola and very happy to hear you share that obsession! I would love to try the love crunch granola! Not sure I’ll be able to pick a favorite though..
Pick me so I can try the aloha blend :)
I’ve been craving some granola lately
I loooooove granola- the new carrot cake flavor looks awesome!
those all look amazing! i’m such a fan of unique flavors of granola, and the dried fruit in these is very different.
i only know the origins of some holidays. i should really investigate the others i’m not so sure about further. i had actually never heard that valentines story either. interesting. my boyfriend and i celebrate, but make it more romantic and about us rather than just doing it because we have to.
i’m also a fan of the clean shaved man face! i’m always telling my boyfriend to go shave. i LOVE marshall’s gift to you for “smoothies” for a year- ha!
I wonder if this is in Costco in Canada…I will find out!
I really like that Contigo oatmeal-taker that Marshall has…might have to get one of those.
Whoo-ee! So many comments – people love you and granola! ;) Crazy story at the post office! And I love yours and Marshall’s tradition. :D
Personally, I don’t know much about the origins of holidays. But I do know that when it comes to facial hair, I love it! Seeing Mikey without a beard is just…so not him. Love (almost) all beards on (almost) all men! ;)
That carrot cake granola sounds awesome! Get in my belly ;o)
ha you win for most random valentine’s day story!!!
i wouldn’t mind a granola hookup–pick me pick me! ;)
Oh that granola looks yummy!!
I actually really LOVE the look of a little stubble facial hair but HATE the way it feels and irritates when kissin :)
I love granola but try not to buy it very often because once I open it I swear it is gone in about 3 days. Bad, but it tastes so good. I want to try the carrot cake!
Carrot Cake?!?! Mouth drooling…
I’m not in it for the giveaway (although the granola looks ridiculous!) but just have to say that I LOVE the “year of smoothies” request!! That is so funny! At least Marshall looks good with some facial hair. I like a little fuzz on the face, but Greg’s grows in really randomly and just looks creepy. He’s much better as a “smoothie.”
Oh my…I’ve tried the dark chocolate and red berries, but not the other flavors! Yum.
A little facial hair is alright with me, depending on the guy. I find it doesn’t suit all men though.
Granola yum!!!
Love scruff on dudes….also love carrot cake, so that flavor sounds delicious!
Janetha, I totally agree with you about how awesome their granola is! sounds like you had an interesting but awesome vday. I spent the day working, then went and picked up some cupcakes for my hubby and I, and ate a nice sushi dinner at home. :)
Hope all is well, keep up the awesome blog,
<3 Anna
Great giveaway!
Granola is my favorite, and I’d LOVE to win some!
All of those flavors sound absolutely DELICIOUS!
Oh man I would love to win this! they all sound amazing!!
I love facial hair on my husband. . especially when he wears the dirty stache- – haha I have no idea why but he pulls it off so well!!
I actually love love alex with facial hair. so hot. I told him he can’t be completely clean shaven for our wedding. hahah. I think he looks great either way, I just prefer facial hair. I have to beg him not to shave.
we don’t celebrate v-day either (never really have). today we ARE going to get some 50% off v-day candy though.
also, that is so not the true store of valentines day! that girl is CRAZY! there are so many weird stories about valentines day, but I’m pretty sure the original had nothing to do with romantic love. not sure why it’s such a big holiday.
they all sound amazing! yummy
Yum! They all sound good, but the apple and original are really speaking to me! :)
These look like perfect toppers for a tasty bowl of vanilla ice cream!
I like the way you think!
I see your dilemma with choosing just one favorite flavor, they all sound amazing!
I do love facial hair, but there is nothing like that first day after a shave smooth face! :)
I have no idea what the story is behind any holiday, ignorance is bliss! ;)
I’ve never heard of or seen this granola before. I hope I win…. Gonna go to Costco and buy the ginormous bag in the meantime. ;)
Yum, that granola looks amazing!
Brandon and I had an interesting first Valentine’s Day where he bought be a diamond necklace and I bought him… a book.
We’ve since decided not to exchange gifts anymore.
I would love to try these! Suprisingly I have never found any LoveGrown products in my local grocery store.
Oh, this isn’t the same as Love Grown.. this is by Nature’s Path! And they make cereals, bars, and other delicious items. This line of granola is called Love Crunch, but they have several other great granolas like Ancient Grains and Pumpkin Flax.
Oh woops! my bad. I do love Natures Path, especially their Optimum Slim cereal line and their kamut puffs (aka mass cereal bowl filler). Thanks Janetha!
Yum – the dark chocolate & berries sounds delicious!
I don’t care about the origin of many Holidays – I had heard Valentine’s Day was less than romantic. We celebrate with food, no gifts (unless it’s a less expensive thing) and an excuse to spend time together. :)
And I love facial hair. My hubby has a goatee and he shaved it off when he first started working (right before we got married). When he shaved it I made it clear he had to grow it back before the wedding. :) I think he’s had a goatee now for at least 13 years, except that “first impressions” at work stint.
Happy valentines day! I will be looking for this at WF’s..
Mmm the apple crumble and carrot cake sounds amazing!! And on the question of facial hair….i don’t like it! Maybe like the day after shave stubble is okay…but any longer is a no go! I’d prefer if no one had any body hair except on top of their head!
I’ll have to check out that granola at Costco. Looks SO good!
‘smoothies’ cracked me up! I prefer my fiance with a little scruff. He looks so handsome.
That granola looks so delicious. I want it in my belly!
I love granola!
1. Oh yes, the history of holidays is very intriguing to me! I’m the type to celebrate celestial events – as well as some oddball secular holidays like boxing day (although not necessarily on 26 December), and Leap Day (ha! proof that even Pope Gregory XIII was fallible).
2. If my honey knew about marshall’s year of smoothies, he just mighta given me a year of ‘grizzlies’ for 2012. Gotta love the 5 o’clock shadow, the catfish hunter, the fu-manchu, mutton chops, the wraparound. He’s currently sporting the french fork, and I couldn’t be prouder :D
I’ve gotta get my hands on some of this granola. mmm dark chocolate!
hi! i’m a new reader. that granola looks unbelievable! if i don’t win some, i’ll have to scour my local whole foods for some ;)
Oooh, those look so good! I love Nature’s Path cereals.
I definitely don’t pay attention to the origin of holidays, and I feel a bit guilty about it. But like you said, not enough to google it – too many blogs to read! hah.
I love me some manly facial hair. I have been with my man for over 4 years and have never seen him clean shaven! Maybe I should ask him to shave out of curiosity sake before we walk down the aisle in less than 4 months!
i’m a granola monster too! these look so good :)
Wow, that Office Depot worker is….bonkers.
LOVE granola!! These look awesome!
I would love some of the original granola to try! Facial Hair – I prefer my husband to be clean shaven. I like how he looks when he is scruffy, but it doesn’t feel good against my face.
Valentine’s day i agree, it’s fun but i usually just get little love trinkets for everyone lol. P.s. That granola sounds delish! I wish we had Costco around here, Just found out we are getting a trader joe’s tho! 10 minutes away!
Well by now I am pretty tired of hearing how ‘I have the best man ever, he is so awesome’..blah blah blah. We don’t really celebrate either. I made Ben a card because I refuse to pay $5-6 bucks for something he more than likely will lose/toss. It had a photo from every year we have known each other. Short and sweet. Hell, I am happy he was even home for dinner.
Facial, yes please! I love a rugged man.
love the sounds of this company! love that granola goes with EVERYTHING. great giveaway!
I’ve been looking for a good granola to try! And I just so happen to be heading to Costco tonight! :)
Thanks, now I’m going to go listen to Cursive’s “The Ugly Organ” and relive 2004. :)
That granola looks amazing…It’s super chunky!
I have some general knowledge on some holidays, and I can tell you that that girl was wrong! Valentine’s day is named after St. Valentine but there are several “stories” behind why he was martyered.
I am NOT a fan of facial hair. I’d be okay with MAYBE a little but I really like the clean shaven look!
I don’t typically pay attention to the origin of holidays, although I do remember learning about some of them in elementary school.
As for facial hair, I think your year of smoothies is hilarious!!! I think it all depends on the guy and their style, personally. I’ve dated guys from all ends of the hairiness spectrum, from fully bearded to bare as a baby’s bottom (HA!). My boyfriend has minimal facial hair, but I actually love when he goes a few days without shaving and has that sexy little scruff. He loves a smooth face though…wanna switch men? (Kidding).
Aaaanyway, I am excited about this granola giveaway. I love granola, but I can’t afford to buy it very often on my budget–$4-5 for a small bag is just not in the cards for me. I’m the kid buying store-brand cheerios in bulk, but only when it’s on sale. HA!
I love the original love crunch!
As for facial hair, my bf doesn’t grow that much but I hate when it is sharp stubbly. It’s like kissing sandpaper.
I would love to try that granola!
Wow the granola looks delicious!
I love that my husband wears a goatee and mustache. He’s handsome with it!
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm carrot cake!
Definitely have been wanting to try the Love Crunch granola.
I like my man clean shaven, but like yours, he HATES doing it. And part of the problem is the horrible week after shaving period when it is growing back out when it is prickly and no fun.
First, I want to give a shout out to the other Anna who posted — your name rocks! I actually don’t know any other people with my same name, other than my coworker’s kids because apparently it became super cool a few years ago. I was named after my great-grandma so I guess she was a trendsetter.
Anyway, the point of my comment is to say I love your description of Valentine’s Day throughout your relationship. Our first year together, we made an entire WEEKEND out of it (which was actually very romantic because we made homemade pasta together) and now we celebrate by exchanging cards and cooking at home. I’d rather relax at home with Matt over sitting in a crowded restaurant with 100 other strangers anyday. We love cards and any excuse to give them, so we still do that.
YES I love your name because it is a palindrome :)
random fact you probably already know if you like palindromes: racecar is the longest palindrome in the English language. :)
redivider :)
and i totally just googled that!
also, some of my faves:
yo, banana boy!
dr. awkward
dammit, im mad!
love. it.
I guess you really do learn something new everyday!
I could eat my weight in granola and am always looking for great new flavors and brands! I WILL be tracking down the carrot cake granola and will promptly dive face first into the bag!
Glad I’m not the only one OBSESSED with NP. They just sent me some coupons (like $35 worth!) and I am eating waay more granola than is good for me!
Yum on the granola, I would love to try it. Must find it at Costco!!
O Man I would love to win some of that Granola.. All the flavors sound so Delicious!! I try to not buy Granola because I know I will ravage it and it will be gone in a day.. I am not kidding! But Hey, If I was to win some.. that would make it okay.. lol
Big Ups on the Almond Coconut Milk too.. I was pleasantly surprised when I spotted it last Friday in the store. I grabbed a box of the Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Coconut Milk. I was so excited.. It is seriously good.. Especially in cereal with blueberries and naners.. Yummers!
I’d love to try this granola! I don’t even know if I’d be able to get it in Canada!
I live in Portland–home of Ironic Facial Hair. There’s a lot of weirdness here–handlebar mustaches, big mutton chops…..So I guess I’d say, yeah facial hair is cool! :)
I’m not a huge fan of Valentine’s either. It feels so forced and it’s never been a huge deal to me. We spent our night grocery shopping and watching movies on the couch :)
I would love to try this granola! Thanks!
I must have this granola!!! Um, weird Valentine’s Day story about that girl ranting to you…I even had a perplexed look on my face just reading it! Your v-day at home sounds like the best :)
i like your laid back v-day tradition, tacos and all :) i am also gonna have to pick up some of that granola from whole foods. mmm.
That granola looks amazing! would love to try it!
wow – that apple granola looks really good!
i’m such a sucker for granola. and this one looks like it has great clusters!
The dark chocolate and red berries sounds good!
YUM – love granola – all those flavors sound awesome (I can see why you cannot choose a fave!) – never seen or heard of this brand but sounds like a great company.
Not a fan of the mustache but the scruffy 5′o clock shadow is sexy on my man :)
v-day is overrated, but that granola surely is not! the carrot cake one looks divine.
My kids and husband love the love crunch (original) and I was so happy to see it so insanely cheap at Costco! We bought 4 bags on Saturday…
The granola looks really good! Looks like there are big clusters too. I love adding granola to yogurt for the extra crunch!
Carrot Cake granola is a great idea!!
I prefer clean shaven over facial hair, but my boyfriend hates to shave. He ends up being scruffy about 80% of the time, and then shaves for special occasions (when there will be lots of photos taken)
We aren’t big on going out for dinner on Valentines Day either. Especially when it falls on a Tuesday. I love the idea of the taco ritual – it’s making it special to the two of you that really counts!
Would love to try this granola!
1. Sometimes when I’m bored, I will look up the origins of holdiays.
2. I actually like the facial hair but only from one extreme to the other: a 5 o’clock shadow or a full on beard.
OH MY goodness!!! COUNT me in :) I would LOVE some of that!
Mmm, I love granola! The origninal flavor sounds awesome!
The red raspberries & dark chocolate looks amazing!!!! I hope you pick me! :)
They all look so good! I never get sick of granola.
Just picked up the new Almond-Coconut milk blend from Almond Breeze which would pair PERFECTLY with the Aloha blend granola!!
I love that random girl at the store – something that would totally happen to me :)
oh my goodness those flavors all sound delicious!
I love facial hair! But clean shaven is NOT a good look on my husband, so that might have something to do with it. But really, I think I just like it better in general.
WOW! do they all look wonderful!! YUM!
and…as for facial hair, I LOVE a little scruff…RAWR!
O.M.G. on the Carrot Cake…
Didn’t get a chance to comment on the Randy saga…but that is hilarious!!! I swear you need to put a little camera on his collar (they actually have one’s for your pets!) just for kicks(: He looks so innocent so I would have suspected Penny first!
Yuck on the facial hair…it’s too scratchy. As for holiday origins…ehhh, no real curiosity but fun for trivial pursuit.
Weird story about that girl!!! I totally need to look at my Costco for that granola-it looks amazing!!!
I am obsessed with the Love Crunch granola. I have to get my hands on the Aloha flavor, it sounds amazing!
I love the sound of the Original and Carrot cake. But the others sound amazing too. Yum!
yum! i would love to try one of these on some greek yogurt
These look amazing!
My husband always shaves but I will say I love a fresh haircut on him. Mm mmm mmmmm. :)
Hey I definitely LOVE facial hair (on men) Colin’s beard kinda grew on me – pin not intended but I’ll leave it ;)
Oh and no wonder you love those granolas! they all look amazing!!!!!
and I found this really cool blog post yesterday that explained all about St. Valentine. I loved it!
their granola is the best!
That granola sounds so freakin good! I may have to stop by Whole Foods on the way home tonight to pick some up!
Oh my goodness – those flavors sound amazing!
Love me some granola!
The aloha blend sounds amazing!
I don’t pay attention to the origin of anything, let alone holidays….
Facial hair is okay with me, if it’s not super creepy or overgrown, but sometimes a clean shaven face is just awesome too!
Granola!!!!! These look delicious. Oh my.
We’ve JUST got those granolas in our stores up here in Canada. They look fantastic. As for facial hair….I hate it, because its not ladylike and I have to use tweezers! HA!!! OMG…did I REALLY write that????? Yup….
Wow, that granola sounds amaaazzzzinnng.
Origins of holidays are interesting to me, but I’m not an expert.
Facial hair…totally depends on the guy.
I LOVE granola! I’ve always wanted to make my own but never have time…I would love to try this!
Oh my gosh those all sound amazing. I try not to walk by the big bag when I am at Costco. I know I would just demolish it in record time :-)
Yuuuuummmmm that granola sounds amazing!
YUM! I’d love to sprinkle some of that goodness on top of my yogurt for a quick breakfast or snack!
The new flavors sound incredible! I hope I can find them locally.
I had NO idea there was 4 flavours now… this is so exciting! I really want to try the apple crunch… actually, I want to try them all!
That granola sounds delicious!
I do tend to pay attention to the origins of holidays because I am a history nerd. ;)
My husband has a beard and I always hated beards, but I love it on him. He hates to shave and I don’t blame him.
ive been looking for a new granola low in sugar but still tasty. that carrot cake looks like it might be my new go to! thank you!
those flavor combos sound great!
MY OH MY how I love this granola! I just recently found the other flavors at Whole Foods after I’d indulged in way too many big bags of the Dark Chocolate & Berries one.
Oh my the red berries& dark chocolate sound delicious!!
The red berries and dark chocolate sounds amazing! I have to try some asap!
I LOOOOOOOVVVVVE GRANOLLAAAAA!!!!!!!!
<3
Ummm, that aloha flavor sounds AMAZING.
i fear love crunch is no where to be found in my neck of the woods! LOVE cluster-y granola!!!
that granola looks INSANEEE and i love the new packaging!
The carrot cake one looks SO yummy!!!
I love hearing those random stories about the origins of holidays – like the Vday one that got (super awkwardly) thrown at you (at office depot?? haha!).
I love the look of scruff on boys – but the scratchiness huuuurts!
And – I would love some granola. Can’t like – I’m a creeper of your blog, but that granola is why I’m coming out from the blog-stalker shadows and making myself known :)
izzyy
WOW, all those flavors sound fantastic!!
As for facial hair, scruff is OK, but when Seth’s starts to get into beard mode, it grows in bright RED–and he is not a red head. He ends up looking mismatched.
I thought Love Crunch only came in dark chocolate and berries! I seriously seriously love this stuff, so very delicious. Whole Foods is the only place that sells it near me and they don’t always have it in stock unfortunately : / Obviously I need to make a trip to Costco for a super bag : ) or winning some would be nice too.
I want to try the Carrot Cake kind! :)
Mmm….I want to try the carrot cake flavor!!
376 comments? Did I miss it- was this a giveaway? Guess I skimmed the granola part. ;-) carbs and all ya know.
I didn’t even recognize Marshall all clean shaven with short hair- he looks good in any style.
NO idea about origins of holidays. Derek and I always hate going out on Vday b/c it’s exactly like you said: forced. The coolest thing we ever did was go on a midnight mountain bike ride/picnic up in the Santa monica mtns near malibu. so rad.
Yum! I want some :)
Craving a bowl of granola riiiiight now.
Haha I’m a nerd- the title of this post is “GIVEAWAY!” I’ll learn to read one of these days. :-?
PS don’t enter any of my lame comments. give it to someone who will give those granola bags the love they deserve.
I have heard the story on “valentine” don’t really have a big interest in the reason holidays were formed. Lol Acts of love and kindness shouldn’t be confined to “one day” if everyone showed it daily there wouldn’t have to be those forced apologies! Bright side it could be just the excuse the self-centered people need, giving them a push to work on their relationships. As for the “hair” nothing better than a mid-night shadow! Love a little face hair, to much can be a bear of disaster. No body and BACK hair though, shave that man, clean him up! I get them clippers out on my man, I taught him well! Now, after 17 years he does it himself and a few other areas as well, he enjoys the cleanliness himself now too, he says he doesn’t sweat as much now, plus keeps down the odor.
I. Want. Granola.
Carrot cake….yum!
Carrot cake granola?? Having an Uncle Jesse “Have mercy!” moment.
I am totally a granola addict, too. That carrot cake and aloha crunch granola looks amazing.
mmm the carrot cake looks really great!
I would love to win some granola! On another note: I love beards!
Love crunch (the original) is my all time favorite granola!!! I didn’t know they made more flavors….I need to try those asap! :-)
That granola looks delish!
I like learning about the origins of holidays and the history behind most things we say, do, and celebrate. I find it interesting, but it rarely influences whether I celebrate a holiday or not. Often the origins of a holiday have little to do with why we celebrate holidays today.
I would have a hard time also choosing!! They all sound amazing!!! :-)
I just saw this granola recently. I want the apple crumble!
I remember learning about holiday vaguely in elementary school but I tend to focus on the traditions I’ve developed rather than the historical facts.
As far as facial hair – it doesn’t look good on my bf, there is a french guy in my department with a small scruffy beard and i love it on him, and I do not like muttonchops on anyone.
I’m not a huge fan of facial hair and usually beg my boyfriend to shave (though most of the time he doesn’t). Typical man.
Oh my goodness, the Love Crunch flavors look amazing! I so wish I lived near a Costco or Whole Foods so I could get my hands on some ASAP! I suppose I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed on this one and hope I win! Awesome giveaway!
I DEFINITELY want to try that Aloha blend!!! That looks AMAZING! But I really want to try them all so here’s hoping for a giveaway WIN!
I’m definitely stopping by Whole Foods on my way home! WOO
I don’t know that I’d be able to pick a favorite out of those flavors, either! BUT, I’d love to win and test my theory ;)
That granola looks really good!
Free granola?! Yes please!
I am always looking for a new granola!
Yum, those look amazing.
OMG those flavors all sound ridiculously delicious! I probably couldn’t decide on a favorite either…
Oh yum! I have been trying out different granola to add some more grains in my diet and this would be perfect! *fingers crossed*
Those granolas look delicious!
I hope I win! : )
That girl sounds a little CRAZY! I think I probably would have stopped her and told her to stuff her mouth with chocolates [in the kindest way possible] :P
P.S. Would love to try the new granola!!!
Janetha I want some of the carrot cake granola oh my goodness!
the carrot cake sounds unbelievable!
I hope I can find these granolas in Canada – I know we have a lot of Nature’s Path stuff.
Love crunch looks delish! Would love to give it a try.. hint hint! :-) I am a granola/oatmeal fanatic!
I seriously could not stop laughing reading your account of the tirade that lady made; it’s just the way you wrote it. I read it out to Nathan and we were dying laughing!
Clearly, I missed the giveaway, but sure hope my local Houston Costco has it!!!! ;) I HATE shopping but I LOVE Costco!!!
Oh, BTW, Nathan and I were like you and Marshall. We went all out for our first V-day celebration, which was only 2.5 months after dating, but after that, we just do little surprises here and there.
