what i would eat wednesday.

by Janetha on June 15, 2011

in questions answered

i know there is a popular trend going around called “what i ate wednesday”.  well, this post has nothing to do with that. plus, i show you what i eat almost every day of the week.. wednesdays included.. so that wednesday wagon isn’t one for me to hop on.

what i AM going to ramble about is what i WOULD eat.  let me elaborate.

i get a lot of emails of people asking me how i gave up my old eating habits.

“janetha, HOW can i make myself eat healthy food and not give into cravings and bad eating habits?”

well, unfortunately there is no magic answer to this question.  you can’t go to sleep loving deep fried donuts and cheese fries and wake up wanting steamed broccoli and brown rice.  it doesn’t work like that.  sure, some people have always liked the healthy stuff.. but not me.  i wasn’t into to healthy eating until about 3 or 4 years ago.  i wasn’t full on dedicated to healthy eating until about 2 1/2 years ago.

i often think back to my younger years when my metabolism was naturally speedy, my education on what calories are was nonexistent and HFCS was an acronym i was not yet familiar with.

i used to eat junk.. and LOTS of it.  i survived off the drive through dollar menu, soda, cheap beer and endless bowls of cereal and ice cream.

my, how things have changed. my eating habits changed for a few reasons:

  • quantity: i started packing on the pounds and realized i had to scale back the amount of food i was eating. too many calories for a gal my size. portion control became the name of the game.
  • quality: i learned about the foods i was (or wasn’t) eating and saw that not all foods are created equal. i learned how to read labels and what to look for when making food choices.
  • overall health and happiness: i realized that being overweight and not physically fit was detrimental to both my physical and mental health. i changed my ways and became a happier and healthier person.

just because i replaced my bad habits with good ones doesn’t mean i replaced my old taste buds with new ones.  yes, i developed a love for healthy foods and yes, i actually love everything i eat.  but, truth be told, i still love all the food that was making me both physically unhealthy and mentally unhappy.  let’s face it.. certain foods and drinks are popular for a reason: they just taste good.

so.. just for fun.. i thought i would make a list of the top ten things i would still eat nearly every single day if calories and ingredients weren’t an issue for me.

#10: dr. pepper.

image [source.]

when i was a soda drinker, this was my soda of choice.  from the fountain, mind you. no cans or bottles for this girl.. always from the fountain. i love dr. pepper.. especially with mexican food! i never was a fan of diet sodas—blech. but the real deal? YES. love it. i went the whole year of 2010 without drinking a drop of soda, and i have had maybe two dr. peppers since then.  i still love it.. but don’t want to develop the soda habit. i prefer not to drink my calories.. especially when they are loaded with sugar and/or HFCS.  i never crave a dr. pepper, but once it does hit my lips, i remember how good it really is.

#9: indian food, namely chicken tikka masala.

image

[source—hehe katie this is your photo it showed up on google images!]

oh, indian food. i love you.  all that butter used in your cooking and all those carbs! potatoes, rice, beans, naan. yum. chicken tikka masala is also known as “butter chicken”, so no wonder it’s my favorite. i will happily eat a whole order to myself every day.. with a pile of white basmati rice and lots and lots and lots of naan. please and thanks.

#8: piping hot chocolate chip cookies & milk.

image [source.]

there is something amazing about cookies hot out of the oven dunked into an icy glass of milk. am i right or am i right? yes, the only option there is that i am right.  the only problem with this habit is i can never stop at one or two cookies.. it always ends up being at least 4 or 5.  sometimes more. what? my favorite cookie recipe is right here. i also am a big fan of snickerdoodles. oh, and peanut butter cookies. okay, i like all cookies. with 1% milk, please.

#7: fresh peaches with half & half and sugar.

image image image

did anyone else grow up eating this trio of amazing? all you do is dice up a nice, ripe peach, pour about a cup of half & half over the peaches and dump a few tablespoons of white table sugar in for good measure. THIS IS SO FLIPPING GOOD. and the peaches make it healthy… right?

#6: chips.. preferably dipped in sour cream.

image image

i was eating some kettle chips the other day and i noticed that there were 150 calories in nine chips. NINE CHIPS?! who eats just nine chips? that’s ridiculous. if calories weren’t in the mix.. i’d eat a bag of chips every day at my desk while at work. one of my favorite things to eat as a kid was lay’s plain potato chips (and none of this “baked” crap) dipped in straight up sour cream. i have many memories of sitting down with my mom, a bag of lay’s and a container of sour cream. we would polish off the whole bag! and if we ran out of sour cream, we used cottage cheese as back up.

#5: french fries dipped in fry sauce.

image [source.]

what is fry sauce, you ask? well, if you live in utah then you already know.. but fry sauce is basically equal parts mayonnaise and ketchup, mixed together. every restaurant in utah that has french fries has fry sauce, but i guess it’s not a nation-wide thing.  i like to add a touch of BBQ sauce to my fry sauce.  oh, and let’s talk about the fries. my favorite kind is steak cut—i can’t tell you how many endless baskets of steak cut fries i hae eaten from red robin in my day.  but really, any cut will do. i love fries! dipping them in a wendy’s frosty is almost as good as fry sauce.

#4: homemade ranch dressing.

image [source.]

i hate bottled ranch. it’s repulsive. but i LOVE homemade ranch. and by homemade i mean 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of mayonnaise and 1 packet of hidden valley ranch seasoning—loaded with MSG in all its glory.  fun fact: i love ranch so much that one year, my sister marisa gave me a whole year’s supply of ranch dressing! i used to pour ranch dressing over everything. it’s amazing.

#3: pizza.

image [source.]

i am not talking about the healthy versions of pizza that are made with a tortilla or a pita. i am talking about real deal, cheese loaded pizza overflowing with toppings.  i don’t mind if the crust is thick or thin.. just make sure you give me at least 3 slices.. okay, maybe four.  oh, and i want a vat of ranch dressing to dip my pizza into. that’s a necessity.

#2: box after box of cereal.. namely honey bunches of oats & fruity pebbles.

 imageimage [source 1 + 2]

why does the cereal box serving size always say something crazy like 2/3 cup? umm.. i can fit my fist in my mouth. pretty sure one bite of cereal is 2/3 cup for me. i grew up eating cereal for my after school snack AND my bedtime snack almost every day.  when i lived in london, momma b would mail me honey bunches of oats so i could get my fix. cereal makes the world go round!

#1: ice cream by the gallon.

image

i have actually eaten a half gallon of vanilla bean ice cream in one sitting before. i can down ice cream like nobody’s business! it is for sure my favorite food. i still eat it.. just not every day. in a calorie free world, i would have a huge peach or oreo shake every night. those are my two favorites.. although i am not picky. when i am on vacation, i eat ice cream every single day!

there you have it. ten things i would eat every day—wednesdays included—if calories and ingredients didn’t matter to me.

you may notice that i still eat or drink all of the items listed above… on occasion.  that is the key. i am NEVER going to completely give up these things because that is no way to live.  yes, some of the things i enjoy more often than others.  for example, i eat ice cream once or twice a week.  i do eat chips, but i don’t eat the whole bag.  indian food is a staple when we dine out.  i drink soda once or twice a year.  pick your battles.

hopefully this shed a little light on my habits.  i don’t want people thinking i am someone who just loves healthy food and never struggles with it and doesn’t dream up various smorgasbords on a regular basis.  in reality, i work at it every single day. it gets easier, yes, but it still takes a lot of self control.

every.

single.

day.

so next time you are wondering how i developed such a love for healthy eating and how you can learn to resist giving into the temptation of unhealthy eating, just know you aren’t alone.  i think most people deal with this. you just need to keep your eye on your long term goals so you don’t give into short term temptation.

that’s all for today!

Q~

what’s on your list?

I grew up the same way as you, eating a ton of junk food and loving Dr. Pepper. (Did you ever try to order DP only to find out they didn’t have it so they would offer you root beer instead? Root beer tastes nothing like DP! This was a pet peeve of mine.)

And yes, lots of fast food and lots of cereal!! I’m still addicted to cereal and can’t ever eat just one bowl. It’s a problem.

I would totally eat ice cream and fries every single day if I could.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:42 pm

hahahah yes, that ALWAYS happened. the two are in no way comparable. thanks for the laugh.

janae@hungryrunnergirl.com June 15, 2011 at 6:02 pm

Oh woman…every single one of those things called my name. You are so right, it isn’t like you can change your tastebuds all of the sudden but you can LOVE healthy foods and eat those other ones once in a while (okay, ice cream is daily for me). FRY SAUCE….gotta love Utah. I also think the half and half/peaches/sugar is a Utah thing too! I have never tried chips dipped in sour cream.
My list…….
FRIES, Milky Ways (2 at a time) and cereal. Cereal does not last a day in our house so I only ever have it at my mom’s house. Hope you are having an amazing night gorgeous girl!

maria @ Chasing the Now June 15, 2011 at 6:04 pm

Love this post. I am a huge french fry and ice cream person, too. I still eat them, but only every now and then.

I think the more you focus on eating healthy the more your tastebuds begin to like it.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:43 pm

Very true! I like things I used to swear I hated.

Laura June 15, 2011 at 6:04 pm

Oh, how I love Dr. Pepper! My ideal nostalgic meal would be Dr. Pepper, regular cheddar Doritos and a PB&J sandwich on soft wheat bread. That is like childhood right there! :D

Fry sauce is something new to me, but french fries are one of my favorite “junk” foods too.

Carissa @CarissaAnneB June 15, 2011 at 6:05 pm

OMG…your post made me sad for the foods I used to eat allllll ttthheeeee time! Let’s talk about fountain coke, salami on rye sandwiches, potato chips and french onion dip, french fries and mayo, chicken tenders, and BEER! What a difference 4 years make!

julie June 15, 2011 at 6:10 pm

hahaha this was a great idea! my list would include italian bakery cookies, mint chocolate chip ice cream, pizza and fettuchini alfredooooooooooooooooooooo

Dawn June 15, 2011 at 6:10 pm

Cheese dip with jalapenos would be on the top of my list!

Andrea@WellnessNotes June 15, 2011 at 6:11 pm

Love this post! I love that you still eat all the foods on your list, just not every day. And I love that you’ve learned to love different foods as well.

I used to drink an insane amount of Diet Coke at one point and, like you, had to cut it out completely. I didn’t drink a drop of Diet Coke (or any soda) for about two years. Now, I have a few a year.

If I could, I would definitely eat a lot more cheese and drink more wine and beer! :)

kalin June 15, 2011 at 6:13 pm

Beer. And chips. And Indian food. And cookie dough. Basically enough salt and saturated fat to give me a heart attack. And I’d love it.

Erica June 15, 2011 at 6:16 pm

hehe- I feel like I have a belly ache after reading this because I pictured eating all of the above in one sitting haha. I would eat chips and salsa until the cows come home. :)

Andrea @ Onion in My Hair June 15, 2011 at 6:23 pm

Cereal and chocolate chip cookies – word!

Annette@EnjoyYourHealthyLife June 15, 2011 at 6:28 pm

Oh what a fantastic and great post!! Such a fun idea :)

My list would include ice cream and fro yo (with caramel on top), milk choc chip cookies, Swiss chocolate, chips & salsa, diet Coke.

Holly @ The Runny Egg June 15, 2011 at 6:32 pm

I am with you on boxes of cereal! I love it all: Golden Grahams, Lucky Charms, Blueberry Morning, Fruity Pebbles and my favorite: Count Chocula. I used to buy a few boxes a week, but now I buy a box every couple of months. Now it is a treat I enjoy rarely, but I will never give up those foods.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:44 pm

mmmm golden grahamsssss.. forgot about those tasty bits of heaven.

Marissa June 17, 2011 at 9:04 am

Have you tried the new Fiber One cereal, Honey Squares? The stuff tastes just like Golden Grahams–80 calories for 3/4 cup and 10 grams of fiber!

Susan June 15, 2011 at 6:36 pm

I understand where you’re coming from here. There are foods that taste good and foods that make us feel good. I believe that 90% of what we eat should be the foods that do both. There are some foods that taste so darn good but make me feel like crap. Dairy and avocados to be exact. Sometimes I’ll have some if I want it, but it usually serves as a reminder of why I shouldn’t be eating the stuff.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:45 pm

Totally agree with the taste and feel good! I hate how I feel after eating something super duper greasy. That’s why I lighten things up a lot.. well, that and because I want my pants to fit…

Errign June 15, 2011 at 6:39 pm

Fresca, Indian/Mexican/Thai food, fries with garlic mayo & cheese (I ate this A LOT in Ireland and I don’t even LIKE mayo), McDonald’s soft serve (preferably from Asia, but I’m not going to discriminate that much hah), and brownie sundaes.

Random side-ish note: I despise Dr. Pepper and last weeked some kid made me “his favorite drink” which was Dr. Pepper and Sailor Jerry’s..,oh dear, it was foul.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:46 pm

It’s OK that you hate the DP. We can still be friends because of the McDs soft serve!

lindsay June 15, 2011 at 6:43 pm

i used to eat bags of ranch dorritos and reeses pb cups for lunch. Yep, that was my elementary meal. WTF? How did I stay active without veggies? haha. But I would totally eat dorritos everyday if I could.

Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga June 15, 2011 at 6:54 pm

I love this post!!

Sour cream + chips
Peachs, cream, sugar
Fry sauce

Those are ALL things I grew up with and just kind of forgot about? Or somehow just have told myself they are off limits.

But hell to the no. I am going to make some fry sauce and dip my raw broccoli in it later tonite :)

Nicole G. June 15, 2011 at 6:59 pm

I love this post a lot. I hope you inspire others to write similar posts because it was really fun to read! It struck home for me because it sounds like we have similar appetites-I can EAT! I stay slim by lots of self control with a dash of fun foods as well-yet I always have people commenting on what I eat-healthy or junky. I wish people would understand that it really is possible to have balance in your life-it doesn’t have to be all or none.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:47 pm

Isn’t that so funny–I get the same thing. Ridiculed for how healthy I eat.. then when I decide to take a cookie from the tray, I get ridiculed! Oh well, at least we are happy, right?

Amy June 15, 2011 at 7:00 pm

ohhhh chicken tikka masala is soo good! definitely not low calorie though. in college, i used to get a carmel frappuccino everyday after class! its pretty amazing. i think now, they’d make my stomach hurt they’re so sweet!

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:47 pm

Mmmmm I used to drink those all the time! And caramel machicattos in the winter.

colleen June 15, 2011 at 7:02 pm

love this! you’re the only other person i’ve ever met that has eaten peaches with half & half and sugar! it reminds me of being a little kid and hanging out with my gramma. such fun times. and eating plain old potato chips and sour cream? the BEST!

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:48 pm

Yes. Let’s hang out and eat all that. Your gramma can come, too.

Teri [a foodie stays fit] June 15, 2011 at 7:05 pm

I freaking love how real you are on your blog! I would definitely have red wine, dark chocolate, ice cream and mac & cheese everyday. And maybe I already do have dark chocolate everyday. I keep a bag of those little Dove Promises at my desk. :)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:48 pm

you should start instagramming the messages inside the wrappers. i love those.

Kayla @ Sprouty Buns June 15, 2011 at 7:17 pm

We are definitely on the same page today! I just posted about fighting temptations while following a wholesome diet. I agree that cravings never go away but now that I understand nutrition I would much rather fill my belly with nutrient rich foods over junk.

Amanda June 15, 2011 at 7:20 pm

I think my list would be nearly identical, except for the soda and peaches/cream (which sounds AMAZING, I’ve just never had it!) :-( Sigh… It’s especially funny that you break down your feelings on Ranch that way, as I was having that EXACT same conversation with my bf about 2 days ago. You are 100% correct.
I grew up making my own fry sauce, but never knew that it was so popular in Utah! It is insanely good.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:49 pm

I know, it is a crime that people consider that bottle stuff ranch dressing. It tastes like bad plastic with herbs.. or something.

Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health June 15, 2011 at 7:22 pm

Hi! I’m new to blogging and just discovered yours…I LOVE it! Honey bunches of oats are one of my favorite things to eat! I seriously eat a box in like 3 days (serving sizes suck)…my list would consist of ice cream, reese’s peanut butter cups, and frosting :)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:50 pm

Welcome to blog land, Lindsay! Thanks for swinging by. We should have a HBOO eating contest.

Lindsay @ In Sweetness and In Health June 16, 2011 at 5:11 pm

ahahaha I think I would love that

The Healthy Hipster June 15, 2011 at 7:26 pm

FRY SAUCE! I thought that was something they only did in the Netherlands (I used to live in Amsterdam and I miss those mayo-fries sooo much. Though its probably for the best I can’t have them every day!) Oh and I couldn’t agree more about the Dr. Pepper. It was the first soda I ever tasted and it still has top ranking in my books!

Susan June 15, 2011 at 7:30 pm

Fry sauce sounds amazing!! I always used to have a pile of ketchup and one of mayo to go back and forth with for dipping fries. Apparently I wasn’t wild enough to mix the two together :P

If calories weren’t an issue, I’d eat three times as much peanut butter. None of this small dollop business. When I was a kid, I put so much PB on my sandwiches it would stick to my mouth and require a big glass of apple juice to get down (apple juice – something else I miss!)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:50 pm

Your PB and HONEY sandwiches.. huh.. no jam for Sus!

P.S. cannot wait to see you.

Tiffany @ Simply Shaka June 15, 2011 at 7:37 pm

I love this list! I am right there with you with chips and ranch dressing. I really didnt discover ranch dressing until college and I blame that moment on my weight gain.

I would eat

*Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream
*buffalo wings
*Coca Cola
*swedish fish
*Pizza

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:51 pm

hahaha that single solitary moment. damn that ranch dressing.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:51 pm

oh and P.S. BR’s mint choc chip was my fave ice cream as a kiddo!!!!

Amanda- The Nutritionist Reviews June 15, 2011 at 7:51 pm

What a neat take on the typical Wednesday post! I loved reading your list.

Sarah June 15, 2011 at 7:57 pm

It’s so refreshing to see a blogger admit they LIKE “unhealthy” foods. I’m so sick of hearing people “swoon” over salads and spinach smoothies when deep down you know they just want a damn burger with *gasp* a milkshake. Yeah I agree healthy foods are great, but it’d be cool if people were more realistic (and honest!) like you. And that is why I love the blog :)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:52 pm

Thanks, Sarah! Um, yeah, anyone who says they would prefer a green smoothie to an ice cream milkshake is just not right… in my eyes.

Karen June 15, 2011 at 7:57 pm

What a great list! If calories and nutritional value didn’t matter, on my list would be:
-Kraft Macaroni & Cheese (from the blue box)
-Tater tots
-Ice cream
-Pizza and breadsticks

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:53 pm

I LOVE THE BLUE BOX! that’s it.. i am adding it to my list.

BroccoliHut June 15, 2011 at 8:00 pm

My list would include: mint chocolate chip ice cream and buckets of sweet potato fries.

Pure2raw twins June 15, 2011 at 8:03 pm

since I run a bakery, it is extremely hard sometimes to have self control…I struggle all the time. My weakness is desserts, haha go figure

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:53 pm

I am sure that it’s a true test being around all those tasty treats all the time! You are a strong lady!

emily June 15, 2011 at 8:05 pm

When I thought about this question I realized I eat every single thing that I want… all the time. It’s fun and all, but I probably need to clean up my diet this summer!

Adam and I laugh about the fact that I’m happy I got fat on delicious nachos, but if I want to lose any weight it’s definitely time to cut back on the nachos :)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:54 pm

I don’t see any better way to get fat.. I love nachos! And P.S. last time i checked, you weren’t fat.

Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) June 15, 2011 at 8:06 pm

Oh wow, this is one of my absolute favorite posts you’ve ever written. It’s the dream post.

I have similar issues- I didn’t just wake up and go “mmm Kale chips, where have you been all my life” after inhaling a big mac, large fries (extra well-done and supersized back in the day), apple pie and hot fudge sundae with nuts. No sir.

At first eating healthy became my new hobby as I saw the pounds melting off me. It was once I was down to a low weight that I struggled to try to like the foods that were keeping me thin.

My only different approach to yours is that I have a lot of substitutions. No chicken tikka masala? Yes Chicken tikka. And yes naan- seriously why live without naan. And I’ll have popchips rather than Lays regular. That sort of thing.

I do love to hear that you are human, and have cravings like the rest of us. And I love how you manage your cravings with balancing eating the real thing and eating really healthy.

Thank you JBean! love you!

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:55 pm

I definitely am always substituting, too, to satisfy those cravings. Ya gotta do what you gotta do! But sometimes.. just sometimes.. a dutch baby is in order ;) love you back!

Abby June 15, 2011 at 8:07 pm

My list would include ice cream, pizza, honey bunches of oats by the box, oatmeal chocolate chip scotchies, and onion rings dipped in homemade ranch! Oh I also forgot donuts! Lol. I used to work at a bakery that made chocolate iced donuts with a dollop of white creme filling to look like a sundae!

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:55 pm

WHAT is a scotchie and why have i not had one? sounds like i would like it.

Abby June 15, 2011 at 9:58 pm

My grandma’s cookies! They have butter, oats, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, pecans, brown sugar and I’m not sure what else! Lol. They are so good!

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 10:01 pm

Um. Yes. Those sound incredible.

Carey @ Positively Blonde June 15, 2011 at 8:19 pm

On my list I’d put buffalo chicken tenders, Krispy Kreme donuts, and chocolate. LOTS of chocolate! haha

Jayme @ Runner-n-Spice June 15, 2011 at 8:34 pm

I grew up the same way – every friday my sister my mom and i would watch TGIF Shows (do you remember those – sabrina the teenage witch, etc) and eat chips and sour cream. Oy! I gave up pop altogether about two years ago – my body thanks me 100% :)

Great list post, btw.

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:56 pm

YES i loved TGIF. but i must be much older than you because when i watched TGIF it was full house, family matters, step by step and then a rotation of one other random show that never made it past a season or two. i can still sing the TGIF theme song! haha.

marisa June 17, 2011 at 12:04 am

And you probably still know the schedule of what time Jonathan Taylor Thomas came on.

tea-bag June 15, 2011 at 8:58 pm

i grew up eating peaches in milk & sugar – also, canned peaches with ice cream!
my list: (1) deep dish (no cheese – always hated it) pizza (2) big, doughy, warm loaves of bread (3) rice pudding (4) ben & jerry’s festivus ice cream (5) a&w root beer floats (6) kettle corn (7) french toast … damn, i have to stop, this is making me crazy! :)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:57 pm

i wish i hated cheese.. wait, no i don’t, but you know what i mean. your list made me drool.. rootbeer floats for the win!

Amanda June 15, 2011 at 9:03 pm

I love you guys for the “fry sauce.” In Puerto Rico, it’s called mayoketchup (the Goya brand is the best). When we visit, I always bring a bottle back in my suitcase. :)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:57 pm

haha what a creative name! i want to go to puerto rico.

Jenn L @ Peas and Crayons June 15, 2011 at 9:05 pm

awww boo! you got me excited with the title! I host the What I Ate Wednesday party and you’re totally welcome to link up your posts anytime — even if you always show us your eats =) totally up to you! <3

I loved the list! I think I would eat a lot of these also if ingredients (ahhhh msg scares me!) and health issues were not an issue.. but they are! booo! luckily not only the "fun stuff" tastes good b/c i looove my veggies! =)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:58 pm

haha sorry to let you down, jenn! i definitely knew you hosted it, it’s a fun trend! and WHY does so much stuff have to have MSG? it sucks. side note.. my husband’s initials are MSG.

Mama Pea June 15, 2011 at 9:09 pm

Two words, girlfriend. FREE. DAY. Such a big part of why I fell in love with Body For Life.

I hope you get to enjoy one or all of these treats every week!

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Free Day makes the world go round. It is just scary how sick I sometimes feel after free day. It makes me realize there is a reason NOT to eat all that stuff.

Mama Pea June 15, 2011 at 10:11 pm

To be honest, I don’t even really do Free Day anymore. When Pea D and I did BFL together, we would do ALL DAY free days. Literally from sun up to sun down, just eating CRAP. I can’t believe we still got good results, but we both felt like garbage on those days. Now I maybe do a free meal every few weeks or so.

Janetha June 16, 2011 at 9:52 am

I did the same way the first time around. All out crazy free day. It’s a wonder I had results. Although, now that I am more in shape, it is harder to lose and/or maintain.. so free days can’t be quite as crazy. But sometimes they still are ;)

Heather (Heather's Dish) June 15, 2011 at 9:27 pm

i’ll take everything you said and raise you a pizza! with extra ranch on the side to dip the crust ;)

Janetha June 15, 2011 at 10:00 pm

I will see your bet and raise you a batch of Delta bars!

Malika June 15, 2011 at 9:30 pm

Ice cream. Ice cream x745897654309834675.
I’m not kidding you I can make myself sick with a gallon of ice cream. It’s actually disgusting. Seriously ice cream has been my FAVORITE food since I was 14 months old… Yeah don’t ask..
Anyway beside ice cream.. Frozen yogurt :p haha CEREAL. omg cereal is dangerous too. Other notables; sushi, mac and cheese (Velveeta shells…), red velvet cake, cream cheese frosting, ketchup (uhh?), and peanut butter with a spoon please!

Here is a much better version of chicken tikka masala that I got from a blog a long time ago. A little more fat than optimal, but overall not too bad :)

I usually serve it with some brown rice or homemade naan.

Loved this post! So fun to read and refreshing to know that you have cravings etc.

One thing on my list would definitely be guacamole. I love it and sometimes it’s hard to stop at a serving!

I know.. isn’t a serving, like, 2 TB? That much goes on one chip for me!

I have definitely eaten a whole gallon of ice cream in one sitting- on multiple occasions! I would eat jars of peanut butter if I could :)

UGH I just had tandoori chicken for dinner (just as good as chicken tikka masala by the way) and now I want naan and french fries. And diet dr. pepper.
