happy mother’s day! i am not a real mom yet.. but i like to think i am a mom to these little rascals.
love them.
i want to wish all you moms in blog land (and pregnant moms-to-be!) a very happy mother’s day. i am not sure how you manage to blog AND have kiddos. i salute you.
in honor of the holiday, it is only right to publish a post about the moms in my life! i am blessed with not one, not two, but three moms.
marshall’s mom lives in iowa and it is sad that we don’t get to see her often. it’s always fun when she gets to visit, and we hope to head her way someday soon.
marshall’s step mom lives in herriman, which might as well be iowa, because we hardly ever see her, either!) for those of you not from utah.. herriman is about 45 minutes from my house.) we try to get together for dinner every once in awhile, but it is not often enough.
and last but not least.. we have momma b. a woman you are all very familiar with, because not only do i ramble about her all the time.. but she rambles on my blog when i let her!
momma b. (and the thanksgiving turkey.)
as you know, my mom recently had a mini stroke. she lost her memory there for a minute and she has been actively trying to get to the bottom of what caused all this. when she had her stroke, it was by far the worst day of my life. and the scariest. oh gosh, i really don’t want to talk about it because then i have to think about it.. and i refuse to think about it more than i have to.
i did want to let you all know that she has gone to the cardiologist and he has decided to close the hole in her heart. she will be going into surgery to get the hole fixed on may 31st. please keep her in your thoughts and prayers!!
i want to tell (and show) you all a little more about my mom. because it’s mother’s day. and she is the best.
she is a great wife.
she is a nana sue (grandma) to NINE grandchildren (not all of them pictured below).
and several grandpups, too.
she is fun to be with.
she likes to sing.. (we were singing “lemon tree” by peter, paul & mary here. you can imagine how awesome we sounded.)
she likes to bowl.
she is a rockstar on the wakeboard! she even owns her own wakeboard.
she runs and is so active, always putting fitness first.
she is STRONG.
check out those muscles.
she LOVES chocolate. specifically cream puffs coated in chocolate.
she’s always had a thing for watermelon with salt.. hello, 1980’s.
she likes to get pampered (so do i.. who doesn’t?!)
she has a thing for pelicans (again, who doesn’t?! oh.. wait..)
she likes to lounge at the beach.
she likes to go to the state fair and look at all the useless crap they sell.
she taught me to cook and to love food.
she is actually a great cook, even though she won’t admit it.
she looks good in swim caps while getting her body fat percentage checked with me.
she was the biggest help in planning my wedding, which was so fun to plan and went off without a hitch.
my mom is my best friend. for real. she is always there for me no matter what!
she is, without a doubt, my biggest hero.
hope you are all having a great day!

I have to say, every time you talk about your mom, you can just tell how awesome she is through your anecdotes and just the attitude you use to describe her! She sounds like an amazing woman, and DANG- is she in shape or what? She looks awesome!! Happy mother’s day to her!!
Love this post!
Momma B. is in my thoughts and prayers! I will be thinking of her and your whole family on the 31st!
Your mom is a total badass. I love the ’80s pic. Classic!

I LOVED THIS POST!!!! Your mom is a rockstar!!! She owns her own wakeboard? That is so cool. I love how active she is and full of life and wanting to party! Have a great day with your amazing family!
Your mom is rad on so many levels it’s seriously unreal. The delts. Jeez. The wakeboard. The pelican- huh?! And for the record I’m SOOOOoo glad they’ve decided to do surgery- it wasn’t sitting well with me to just wait and see what happens but I wasn’t about to be a big buttinsky. Love you and love your mom- the reason (or part of) that you’re so awesome is that she’s so awesome. Hugs Momma B and Happy Mother’s day! And of course hugs to your other two moms too!!
Your mom is beautiful, I am soooo jealous of those muscles!!
Gahhhhhhhh… crying!!! Good tears, of course. I hope you never get sick of me telling you how much I love the love between you and Momma B, because I can’t say it enough!
I wanted to share this with you, posted on Lindsay Cotter’s FB wall by a friend of hers. Happy mother’s day to a fellow doggie mom! xo
Before I Was a Dog Mom

…
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I made and ate hot meals unmolested.
I had unstained, unfurred clothes.
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
even if the doorbell rang.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I slept as late as I wanted
and never worried about how late I got to bed
or if I could get into my bed.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I cleaned my house every day.
I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies
or invited the neighbor’s dog over to play.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I didn’t worry if my plants, cleansers,
plastic bags, toilet paper, soap or deodorant
were poisonous or dangerous.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never been peed on,
pooped on, drooled on,
chewed on or pinched by puppy teeth.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had complete control of my thoughts,
my body and mind.
I slept all night without sharing the covers or pillow.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn’t stop a hurt.
I never knew something so furry and four-legged
could affect my heart so deeply.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never held a sleeping puppy
just because I couldn’t put it down.
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was well.
I didn’t know how warm it feels inside
to feed a hungry puppy.
I didn’t know that something so small
could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Dog Mom:
I had never known the warmth, the joy,
the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the
satisfaction
of being A Dog Mom
