who said cookies are just for dessert?
surely it wasn’t me. i have been a cookie monster lately. snickerdoodles. chocolate chip. peanut butter. i’ve been eating them all.
when erin baker’s wholesome baked goods contacted me* asking me if i would like to try out their cookies, what do you think my answer was?
an enthusiastic “yes!”—obviously. for some reason, the word “wholesome” next to “baked goods” makes me think that it is suitable for breakfast. the label on the box i received only further confirmed the cookies for breakfast idea.
well if it’s a meal, then it’s breakfast.
erin baker’s wholesome baked goods was named one of women’s health’s 125 best packaged products in 2010. the founder, erin baker, started baking & selling cookies when she was 9 years old. and YES, her last name really is “baker”—how fitting! she has turned her childhood passion into a legit company and now focuses on creating wholesome handcrafted items that are baked to order. she specializes in Breakfast Cookies, Homestyle Granola, Breakfast Cookie Minis and Organic Brownie Bites. you can read more about erin here.
i was sent three kinds of breakfast cookies.
caramel apple, double chocolate chunk and oatmeal raisin are just three of the twelve breakfast cookie flavors erin baker’s bakes up. there is a peanut butter & jelly one i have my eye on! all of the cookies are baked fresh with whole grains, are all natural and contain no trans fat.
of the three flavors i was sent, i decided to try the caramel apple first.
check out that gooey caramel baked right into the soft cookie.
prime for dunking.
i will admit, these cookies are high in carbs. but they are also high in whole grains (18 grams!) and each cookie totes 5 grams of fiber—the same as a bowl of oatmeal. at 280 calories per cookie, one is just enough to count as a meal for breakfast when paired with 6 oz of plain greek yogurt, which is what i did this morning. not a breakfast i would eat every day.. but hey, it’s cookie friday!
another product i received were the organic brownie bites.
these one ounce, all natural brownies are 90 calories apiece and are perfect for satisfying that after dinner sweet tooth. or after lunch. or after breakfast.
they are dense and chewy and DELICIOUS.
i think that if you are going to have a treat, it doesn’t have to have crap in it. that is why i was pleased by the ingredient list for the brownie bites: Organic Unbleached Wheat Flour, Organic Evaporated Cane Juice, Organic Raisin Puree, Water, Organic Chocolate Chips (organic sugar, organic chocolate liquor, organic cocoa butter, organic soy lecithin), Organic Cocoa Powder, Organic Inulin, Organic Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Organic Molasses, Organic Brown Rice Syrup, Organic Dried Whole Eggs, Organic Vanilla Extract, Baking Soda, Aluminum-Free Baking Powder, Sea Salt.
i was so stoked on the breakfast cookies and brownie bites! i am anxious to try their protein granola which totes 8g protein per 1/2 cup. i just might have to order it online.
now, for the fun part!

I’d love to try their peanut butter granola. I’m always looking for ways to convince myself to eat more fat (no, really, I don’t get enough), AND it has 6 grams of protein per serving (just 2 less than their “protein” granola). Yum yum yum.
I tweeted! http://twitter.com/oh_toole/status/46554501380968448

I would definitely want to try the 90-calorie brownie bites!
I would love to try the double chocolate chunk granola!
PB&J breakfast cookies are being discontinued…..!!!! How could they? Thus I would love to try them along with any of the mini b-fast cookies. And pretty much anything on their website. Caramel Apple cookies sound fabulous too.
Perfect for grab-n-go :)
Holy! I want to try everything :) My first pick would be the Peanut Butter Minis though- I bet they’re delicious in a cup of greek yogurt! Yum.
Well of course the sampler pack would be perfect because then I could try them all! But if I had to pick one, banana walnut. Although the chocolate chip mint brownie bites are screaming at me, too…
PB&J!
i’m a sucker for oatmeal raisin anything… but i’d also love to try the protein granola!

I have tried those before- I think at Lifetime Fitness and I was amazed how yummy they were! Going now to check out the website for all these other products and flavors!! I’d probably start with Oatmeal Raisin. MMMMM
This may be the hardest decision I’ve made all day (what to choose– Morning Glory Breakfast Cookie or Double Chocolate Chunk Granola?!) I’ll go granola, ’cause it’ll last longer!
i’m after that Baker’s Sampler! or the Morning Glory :).
Mocha cappuccino breakfast cookie!? It’s like combining my coffee and my meal in one!
The breakfast cookie sampler sounds wonderful, although I doubt I would limit them to breakfast.
