today is the day that mable would have been nine. NINE. i am getting old! i got her when i was 18.
bless her little ball-loving heart. she was the best dog ever to live.
mable was hit by a car on september 1, 2007. i had part-time custody of her because i bought her (half and half) with my ex. it was quite the custody battle over mable after we broke up. the ex actually stole mable from my house when i started dating marshall because he said “if you have a boyfriend, you don’t need a dog.” um, ok, whatever. so i hadn’t seen her since he took her in june of 2007 and i got a phone call informing me of the accident. and that was that. mable was gone.
it hurts my heart to talk about it.
you may have noticed my tattoo in photos:
i got this a few days after she was killed. i don’t like tattoos but i had a strong urge to get this. and i love it. and i look at it daily and think of her.
the name mable means “lovable”.. i think it fit her to a T.
happy birthday, mabes. hope there is a doggy heaven and you are having a good time there :)
SO. where did i leave off?
oh yeah.. i had a giveaway that auto-posted while i was doing pushups during my bridal photos..
what? that’s normal.. i promise. pump out about 30 pushups and it will make your muscles look good in photos.
true story.
giveaway winner!
congrats nicole!
send me your info (my email is on the side bar) and i will ship you your prize.
thanks for entering, everyone. you can bet your sweet buns there will be another one soon.
OH! and thanks to everyone who voted for my photo. clarification.. there are more photos in the running. if you look along the top of the blog, it has the photos in the contest in the order of most votes.. i am currently in third place. so, if you haven’t voted, click here to do so!
noteworthy dinner:
last night i celebrated tofu tuesday (as did mama pea!) with my beloved tofuXpress tofu press and a new-to-me trader joe’s curry sauce.
i let this brick of tofu drain for 30 hours. it was bone dry by the time i was ready to use it!
sliced and diced.
cooked the cubes on either side, adding a bit of curry powder to the tofu.
added the sauce:
added a generous amount of steamed veggies:
cooked some brown rice:
called it dinner!
at 10:30 PM.
it had been a long day.
but goodness, gracious.. i think i have a new favorite trader joe’s product! run to your nearest location (in my case that would be las vegas, don’t think i can run there) and buy some red curry sauce NOW. SO, SO, SOOO good.
i bought an iced coffee mug!
i don’t think it is big enough. it only fits 24 ounces.. and my french press makes a bit more iced coffee than that.
but it does have a built in straw. bonus!
tada!
breakfast:
today i had a deeelicious breakfast. but it looked like mush.
1 container plain chobani greek yogurt, 2 TB PB2 (powdered peanut butter) and about a cup of muesli.
sometimes the ugliest meals taste the best.
leftovers for lunch:
with a side of cucumbers, mushrooms & sabra hummus.
dare i say this curry was even better the second time around?
oh yes. it was.
working out? what’s that?
i haven’t worked out much lately. actually, in the past 7 days i have gone for one run and done only crunches and pushups whenever i get the chance. i will just randomly bust out a set. nothing more. i don’t care. i have my whole life to work out. i only have one wedding. priorities, people.
however, i don’t have too much to do today.. so i think i will go to the gym :)
i will let you know how that goes.. hopefully i have time to post tomorrow. i’ve got an appointment with the caterer to finalize the food. the most important part of the wedding, folks. well.. aside from the groom, i suppose ;)
Qs~
1. do you like curry? what is your favorite kind/type/color? i love ALL curries. but marshall hates thai curries so i don’t get to eat them often. i like green, red, yellow thai curries.. not picky at all. but my favorite curry is probably indian curry. it has such a unique flavor that i love.
2. what leftovers do you think taste better than the initial dish? what leftovers taste worse? better: pasta, asian cuisine, anything with sauce because it has more time to “soak in”. worse: salads, sandwiches, fries/baked potatoes. not even worth it.
xo. janetha b.
p.s. only 16 more days of being janetha “b”! EEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOVE the bridal push up pic – you go girl!! :) do tell where you purchased the iced coffee cup, pretty please!
Happy Birthday to sweet Mable! I hope she’s chasing lots of balls up there in doggie heaven!
I LOOOVE curry. Love it.
I agree with all your betters, but I CANNOT eat reheated meat. The flavor and texture changes and it makes me sick. Blech.
Holy cow, you look great in that wedding dress photo! Beautiful.
:) We’re all getting excited for you…
I LOVE me some red curry, I had forgotten how amazing the TJ’s sauce is…haven’t had it in awhile!
Anything with pasta definitely tastes better, except for macaroni and cheese. It is mostly terrible the next day. :(
You are right, you do have the rest of your life to workout….soak it all in girl. :)
RIP MABLE. You are a beautiful, sweet looking pup.
AH! I didn’t get to enter the giveaway yesterday! I wasn’t near my computer all day, buuuuuuut I voted just now. Cute pic! AND I never knew about the pushup thing!? *mental note taken* :)
Cute new mug!
1. I’ve NEVER tried curry sauce, but I think it’s about time.
2. Better: roasted veggies & stir fry. Worse: cheetahs & salads.
I love curry especially my dads and sisters its delicious and not to hot! I love leftovers and yes sometimes they taste better! LOVING your dress by the way your gonna be a beautiful bride x x
Aww, God bless Mable! I know what it feels like. :[
I’ve never had curry but I want to so so bad! Looks so awesome! And next day leftovers… cold pizza for breakfast is delicious! OH! THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS! Those taste so good the next day… I actually think I look forward to my favorite cranberry sauce, stuffing, and turkey sandwich more than I do the actual Thanksgiving Day meal!
Weeeee! I got a new phone and so now I can read AND comment!!! :)
You look b-e-a-UTIFUL in your wedding attire!!! Absolutely gorgeous!! It’s so soon!!! Everything seems like it has been coming together well!!
Happy birthday Mable!
Xoxoxoxo
I LOVE curries too! Jacob doesn’t though :( so it’s a treat when I get to eat it. I always think left over spaghetti tastes way better the next day. Love that you’re doing push ups during your shoot!
Um, wow! You look gorgeous! Even mid pushup. ;) I can’t wait to see pics of the actual wedding.
You are BEAUTIFUL!!! I can’t believe I haven’t made it over to your blog before – LOVE it!
You’re totally right with the pushups – so go to town. ;)
Curry can be a little too spicy for me at times, so it’s not usually me “spice of choice”. And I’d say one of my favorite leftovers with time would be soup – always tastes better the longer it sits and the flavors can get friendly :)
I’m sorry about Mable :( I know how hard it is to lose a pet.
I love curry! and stir frys :)
Some kind of mixed grain dish is always a great leftover! Like quinoa with chickpeas, avocado and veggies. It all gets creamy from the avocado, and it really tastes awesome
you look amazing!!! so, so, sooo beautiful!
You know how I feel about the ugliest meals tasting the best…at least I think you do. They win at life. Big plates of yum. Also, RIP Mable. What a sweet and wonderful dog she must have been to touch your heart in such a way!!
1. Mmmm Indian curries for sure!! Thai curry is pretty amazing as well though…sigh. Want.
2. Leftovers. I love leftover chimichangas – they congeal well :)
Awww, Mable. I can’t even imagine how it must have felt to lose her once, and then lose her again. It really is like losing custody of a child and then losing that child to an accident. You had me in tears, and I don’t even have dogs!
And you know I my jaw is still on the floor from that gorgeous picture of you! Thinking of you!
OH MY WORD that curry needs to be in my tummy NOW!!! gaaahhh can’t get enough of curries. Any kind will do for me–Thai, Indian, Japanese, Singaporean…you name it!
I am sure she had a fabulous doggy heaven birthday party and they all sang (or howled) happy birthday to her and had frosty paws!
I wish I could get into curry…I love anything spicy but the smell of it just revolts me :(
Oh Mable. I’m sure she is in a doggy heaven.
I cracked up at that photo of you all dolled up doing pushups. Awesomeness.
Thanks for reviewing that TJ’s curry sauce. I haven’t found a bottled kind that I like but I’ve seen this one around and for some reason never thought to pick it up. It’s on the list now :D
Happy weeeeeekend.
Oh I forgot to mention – I also voted for you. All those photos are incredible. Now I wish we had a different photographer for our wedding. Lucky girl you are :D
I am crying. Janetha, I am still so very sorry about this. I can’t stand the thought of losing a pup. That’s why I tell myself mine will live forever. Unfortunately, I know that can’t be true.
Anyway, love you.
