move more in may!

the move more in may challenge is designed to get me off my ass and onto my feet. this means in the morning, during the day, and after work. typically the only time i am really moving around is during my workout of the day. if i am not at the gym, i am always sitting or laying. want proof? i wake up (from laying position), drive to work (sitting in my car), sit at my desk for the majority of the 8 hours i am there, sit some more on my drive home, sit on the couch after my workout and dinner, and then lay back down in bed… only to repeat the process again the next day.

a lot of people work on their feet, run errands throughout the day, lift their kiddos up and down, take their dogs on walks, or all of the above. but me? none of the above. heck—i am so sluggish that i drop my dogs off at daycare instead of walking them during the week! by the time we (me and the dogs) get home for the day, we snuggle up on the couch together and are all very content with our sluggish selves. marshall is the only un-sluggish one of the bunch.. he works on his feet all day and does lots of heavy lifting. the heaviest thing i lift all day is my pen. or my fork.. during lunch.

i think i have rambled on enough about why i need to move more. now i just need to DO IT! and i need your support, so i want you to move more in may, too! each day, i would like you to comment on the move more in may challenge page telling me how you moved that day OUTSIDE OF YOUR OFFICIAL DAILY WORKOUT. yes, that’s right, we aren’t counting our workouts for this challenge. that’s the whole point—we are already moving during our workouts. this is for all the other moves of the day. be creative. try something different.

here are some ideas:

  • take a walk in the morning or evening
  • do pushups during TV commercials
  • do squats and lunges in your kitchen while dinner cooks
  • skip down the hallway at work
  • walk around the block during your lunch break (totally just typed “walk around the blog”…)

here are the rules/directions:

  • you can submit ONE entry for each day in may (31 total entries possible.)
  • you will submit your entry on the official challenge page.
  • your entry needs to tell me how you moved more for that day.
  • you can log past days if you can’t get to a computer right away, but remember: one comment=one entry=one day.
  • be honest! we don’t like cheaters or liars.
  • random winners will be selected from comments with time stamps from the individual prize period

Went on a bike ride and hike with our family. Then we hoola-hooped with our neighbors – yep, it was fun!

May 26th – Hiked with my pup 8 miles up Mt. Evans Wilderness and camped out at Abyss Lake. Beautiful day!

May 28 – ran the bolder boulder 10k with ~50k other people. Great day for a run, couldn’t have asked for better weather.

i invent new pancake recipe which’s not sweet, by adding pepper, corn, TVP and onion, then i drop the whole thing on floor and i think the cleaning sweated me and this counts!?

Feeling like a bum today and don’t start work till Monday so soaking up my last few relaxing days!
Decided that since the majority of the day today is dedicated to catching up on the Bacholerette, I have been doing 10 push ups every time I got off the coach.

This is a silly thing, but every bit counts…today I was slicing fruit (TONS of it) and others were sitting and slicing…but no, I stood and sliced, haha. Standing is better than sitting all the time!

3/30 I worked out my legs at the gym, followed by 15 minutes of cardio. I also walked for 30 minutes after dinner to get the blood flowing (trying to lessen my DOMS)

Today I had a CRAZY arms and abs workout at the gym. My triceps are going to HATE me tomorrow. I plan on having another evening stroll after my dinner that I’m about to eat rigggggggght now :)

Proud to say the exercise ball is still my desk chair..lol I think if I had a job from home though that would change quite fast.

Todays move was 10 pushups every time I went the bathroom (at home that is, not in public…ewy!) At 60 right now.

Oh my goodness Janetha today I was all over moving it- after crossfit I played tennis with a friend and then we did sprints and went for a walk!
