yo! TGI-almost-F.

three things from my thursday:

  1. i finally made it in to the doctor. had a fever of 101 and got an antibiotic Rx. hopefully that means i will be better soon!
  2. i went to the gym IN THE MORNING. pretty sure that’s the first time this year! i hit up the 5:45 AM GPP class.. it was brutal, but i am glad i got it done. i had to. because of #3.
  3. i am going to minus the bear tonight! yay, favorite band.

so, while i am listening to sweet tunes, you can read about this sweet snack: the good bean.

NewImage

i was recently sent a snack pack of roasted chickpeas and fruit bars from the good bean.

there are four varieties of roasted chickpeas.

NewImage

sweet cinnamon (my FAVE), sea salt, cracked pepper (second fave!), and smoky chili & lime (haven’t tried yet.)

these all-natural, gluten-free, nut-free, cholesterol-free, low fat, fiberific snacks are flipping delicious. they are the perfect crunchy alternative to chips and they don’t pack as many calories as nuts, so if you eat a whole cup of them you haven’t blown your calorie budget.

each serving clocks in at 140 calories, 7 grams of protein, 23 grams of carbs, 6 grams of fiber, and 2 grams of fat. you can see the ingredients and nutrition labels HERE. you can read the good bean’s manifesto HERE.

chickpeas are good for you! here are some fun facts about them:

cool!

the good bean also makes three bars.

NewImage

the flavors are chocolate berry, fruit & seeds trail mix, and apricot coconut. they are all delicious!

each bar packs 130 calories, 5 grams of protein, 25 grams of carbs, 5 grams of fiber, and 5 grams of fat. check out the ingredients and nutrition labels HERE.

Healthy snack for me should be less in sugar. :) Thanks for doing this giveaway. It’s an awesome giveaway. :)

Wendy B. April 4, 2013 at 7:00 pm

These look delicious. In a healthy snack I look for high fiber and low sugar. Extra points if it can be eaten on the run.

Tracy April 4, 2013 at 7:00 pm

My healthy snack needs to have a good amount of protein and carbs. It also needs to be tasty.

Rebecca April 4, 2013 at 7:03 pm

The first thing I must have is a gluten-free and soy-free product. But what I also love to see is healthy fats and good protein with a short simple and real ingredient list.

Krystina April 4, 2013 at 7:06 pm

You have a fever of 101 and you’re going to the gym and a concert? What?

Janetha April 4, 2013 at 7:39 pm

Yep! Fever came at about 3 o’clock so I went to the doc. I was feeling better Tuesday, Wednesday, and this morning but it’s not viral like I hoped.. So antibiotic it is! And there’s no way I’d miss my favorite band. Never ever ever.

Krystina April 5, 2013 at 12:26 am

Be safe & healthy!

Janetha April 5, 2013 at 12:47 am

Thanks! On my way home from the concert now to hit the hay and then relax all weekend :) hope yours is good.

Wendy Murphy April 4, 2013 at 7:35 pm

Has to be gluten, dairy, egg and corn free, unfortunately! I also like to see a decent amount of protein so I’m not just snacking on carbs. Love to try these!

Emily April 4, 2013 at 7:40 pm

I look for: no added sugar, high protein, and complex carbs in healthy snacks. These look perfect!

Lacey April 4, 2013 at 7:55 pm

I look for no added sugars and some good protein and fat!

Kim April 4, 2013 at 7:55 pm

I usually look to see if I’m craving anything. If I am, I do my best to satisfy that craving without going overboard–if I push off the craving, I will continue to crave it and I end up indulging. Next I look for something healthy, usually something that is snackable and can easily be eaten over a long period of time. I usually try to stick to snacks between 200-300 calories.

Kate April 4, 2013 at 7:56 pm

I look for a snack with minimal ingredients, a healthy nutritional profile, and sustenance! I don’t want to be hungry an hour later!

Kim April 4, 2013 at 7:59 pm
hensley April 4, 2013 at 8:09 pm

Katie April 4, 2013 at 8:11 pm

I look for a snack that has a simple ingredient list, a good amount of protein, and is pretty tasty, of course!

Christa April 4, 2013 at 8:12 pm

For me, a heathy snack must have some fiber and protein! It also should be low in sugar and not have a bunch of funky ingredients! This give away would be perfect for me as I just recently found out I am highly allergic to nuts, and am having a hard time finding good nut free snack bars!

ML Bishop April 4, 2013 at 8:18 pm

I always look for high protein with complex carbs.

Maya April 4, 2013 at 8:21 pm

Something that will FILL. ME. UP. i can’t stand those healthy snacks that lead to continued hunger rumblings and regret!

Em April 4, 2013 at 8:21 pm

I look for yummy taste and enough protein to hold me over until my next meal.

Emily April 4, 2013 at 8:32 pm

Jessie April 4, 2013 at 8:38 pm

Besides being quick & easy to pack and have in my desk drawer or car, I look for low cal, low sugar, high protein & tasty! Depending on the day – something on the sweet side or maybe on the salty. Gotta have both!

jen April 4, 2013 at 8:46 pm

Elly Simonich April 4, 2013 at 9:15 pm

I make sure my healthy snacks have a good amount of protein, whole grains and healthy fats (and they have to be delicious!).

liz April 4, 2013 at 9:36 pm

I look for a combo of protein, carbs, and fat so that I’m left satisfied instead of looking for ever more snacks!

Carly April 4, 2013 at 9:39 pm

In a healthy snack I look for taste, portability and satisfaction (I don’t get hungry in the next 30 minutes…). I think these fit the bill, especially the sweet cinnamon ones! so versatile(:
