one thing i know for sure is that i am ready for it to be warm! mother nature doesn’t agree.. it snowed AGAIN today. grumble.
one thing i know for sure is that i will be so glad when all this royal wedding talk is O-V-E-R. i don’t get wrapped up in celebrities and media and the like. ever. the only famous person i keep tabs on is lynn. have you SEEN her posts from the set this week? she’s a superstar. i barely have time to keep up with my friends planning their weddings let alone keep track of the wedding of two famous brits that i know nothing about. there, i said it. and no, i am not sorry.
one thing i know for sure is that this tid bit of news i received from my sister yesterday has been LONG AWAITED.
i am not sure if i can contain my excitement! i wonder if this is the feeling people got when they watched the royal wedding. probably not. this is way better.
now if only we could get a trader joe’s.. my life would be complete. okay, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration. it would make my shopping life complete. there we go.
one thing i know for sure is that teri’s three bean vegetarian chili is even better the next day. i also know for sure that i will be making a double batch next time.. i am sad that it’s already gone.
it is also very filling.. i ate lunch at noon and didn’t have my afternoon snack until 5:30! i am surprised, since there was no protein- based ingredient in the chili and protein is what usually keeps me full. i guess those beans have some staying power!
one thing i know for sure is that i don’t need added sugar to love what i eat. today is day five of my no added sugar challenge and i am still going strong. granted, i have had to stop reading jessica’s blog for the time being.. but i am having no problem finding delicious things to eat that don’t have any added sugar. case in point: my after work snack.
- 1 cup skim milk
- 1/2 of a big banana
- 4 large frozen strawberries
- 1/4 cup soy protein powder (no sugar added!)
- 1 big handful spinach
- xanthan & guar gum (1/8 tsp of each)
- ice
i know i said i was going to use my protein powders as an exception to the no sugar added rule.. but i ended up realizing that i still had some of this single-ingredient soy protein isolate in my cupboard with just enough left to make this shake.
one ingredient! and 5 grams protein per tablespoon. can’t beat that.
this delicious treat had 300 calories, 30 g protein, 45 g carbs, 0 g fat and zero added sugar. thankyouverymuch.
one thing i know for sure is the mind is a powerful thing. sometimes you think you can’t do something.. but in reality, you can, and your mind is telling you that you can’t. this morning i really didn’t want to wake up for insanity. i laid in bed and went back and forth, telling myself i could do the workout after work because i had nothing on the agenda. then i kept remembering my goal of becoming a morning workout person. and then i went back to rationalizing that i totally had time after work and it would be OK to push the workout back. i also said that my whole body ached. i announced to marshall, “i am going to do my workout after work. my whole body aches. i just don’t have the energy right now and i think i will after work.” after this announcement, i got up, went pee, brushed my teeth…
and went to put my workout gear on.
yep. i did. while i was brushing my teeth, i realized that i was being stupid. i told myself it was all in my mind and that i really could work out this morning, but was just making excuses not to. fake it ‘til you make it, right? i turned on insanity and ended up having a heart-pumping workout. my body cooperated. i was fine! and totally capable. it was silly of me to let my mind try to tell my body no. in the end, i am so glad i just did it. i know marisa can relate.. her post today was all about just getting it done and it’s a must read!
one thing i know for sure is that i am real glad i got that workout done this morning! i really love having the afternoons and evenings free to do whatever. or to not do whatever… i have no plans and i am SO happy about that.
one thing i know for sure is i can’t wait to read tina’s book.
got this in the mail! tina and her publisher sent this to me to check out. it is amazing that one of my fellow bloggers is a legit, published author of a book! and she is just the first of many. so exciting. i already know it’s going to be a great read because i love tina’s blog.
one thing i know for sure is that i already have sweats on (changed into them RIGHT when i walked in the door from work) and i don’t plan to change out of them all night.
one thing i know for sure is my mom rocks! she had her tech guy fix my laptop that has alllll my super old photos on the hard drive. she’s a gem. and because of her act of kindness.. i get to share some oldie but goodie flashback friday photos with you. i picked twelve because it is a number divisible by 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12. i am a weird one.. that i know for sure.
enjoy!
in november of 2007, marshall and i took a road trip with our friend jake to see minus the bear in LA. (amanda, it is too bad i didn’t know you back then!) –this was a pit stop in vegas at a random bar. a bar that happened to have a random beer mug hat. this is a funny photo because marshall does not drink.
in the spring of 2008, marshall actually went snowboarding with me. that will never happen again. mark my words.![]()
in october of 2008, penny crawled up behind my neck and fell asleep. not even joking. wasn’t she so tiny and cute?!
this is one of my faaavorite photos with my kiddos. love them.
we went to hawaii in august of 2008. check out this gnarly little fellow!
another photo from hawaii. that’s me taking the leap of the century.
in september of 2007 we took a family vacay to oceanside, california. this was our family photo.. it is crazy how tiny all my nieces and nephews look just a short 3.5 years ago. and now we have three more family members in the mix! (marshall and my two new nephews.)
sometime in 2006 we went to lagoon.. the local amusement park. the merry-go-round is about the only ride i can handle anymore in my old age. the real big, jerky, loopity loop rides just make me queasy.![]()
pretty sure this one is circa january 2006 at kristen’s birthday shindig. i could be wrong.. but either way, it’s old school!
lake powell. house boat. friends. 2009. can we go back, please?!?!
ohhh this is a favorite. once upon a time in 2001 i studied abroad in london. i was 19. i don’t think i need to tell you where my friend mylisa and i are in this photo. wow, my hair was long.![]()
saved the best for last! momma b and i on day 84 of our by-the-book body for life challenge. she was and continues to be my support and motivation to succeed. i love this photo and i love her!!![]()
Q~

one thing I know for sure, I want a puppy penny!
one thing I know for sure is that YOU are AMAZING and I love u!!!!
these are great pics! the one with tiny penny is toooo cute. and that picture of you and momma b is AWESOME! if i ever have a daughter one day (567+ years from now) i hope we look as good in our swimsuits as you lovely ladies do!
I for real love your mom. I know for sure that with just two glasses of wine, I am donezo – like completely donezo.
Boy didn’t see that one comin ‘! One thing I know for sure is my mid section could use some air brushing haha!
The most important thing I know for sure is what an awesome family I have and how much I love this blog…so proud of my baby girl :)
xoxo
One thing I know for sure: when life throws you lemons, throw them back and demand ice cream!
Goodness, this weather IS insane. And I think i did a party dance when I found out about H&M coming to Utah. And i feel the same way about trader joes. life would be complete.
I LOVE that pic of you and Momma B. You ladies are such badasses. I know for sure that working overtime sucks but the money is goooooooood. Welcome to my weekend!
okay, your mom is seriously awesome. i love that last photo of you two!!
Glass twin!!! And I love that last picture. SO amazing :-)
aw i feel bad that you don’t have a TJ’s. H&M is pretty great. i remember when they first came to NYC i spent about $500 there. i still have a lot of the clothes!
You and Momma B are so freakin cute!!! And so is puppy Penny. Oh my. What a sweetheart.
I know for sure that you are extremely lucky to have such an amazing relationship with your mom- she seems great!
I know for sure that I don’t enjoy Utah when it’s cold. Sorry, Janetha! Last year I went backpacking in Canyonlands for spring break during a mega snowstorm. Not pleasant. However, I went back a month later for a trip to Lake Powell and the warmer temps made it very nice.
One thing I know for sure: Never live in Utah; I will freeze.
Another thing I know for sure: You and your mom are wonderful. LOVE the last picture.
And yup, ain’t morning workouts the best? :-)
I know for sure that everything in life happens for a reason.
You and your mom are awesome! Love that picture, it’s so inspirational!!!
I know for sure that my husband is my best friend! And I know for sure that everything DOES happen for a reason!!! :) And that pic of you and your mom rocks!
I die with Penny. Ellie would so kiss her on the lips. Then snuggle for a nap. Kills me.
And momma b- awesomeness X 100.
Your abs are killah.
One thing for sure: Can’t WAIT to see you in two weeks!!!!!!!
AMAZING! Love this post and I absolutely love your blog :)
Your mom is in 1000x better shape than me & I’m 21 haha props to her & of course you- both of you ladies are in amazing shape and seem like incredible people!!! Your blog posts are always so organized they make my type A brain swoon. <3 it!!!!
hahha I’m so with you on the royal wedding :) The only reason I watched any of the coverage is because I was at the gym and there was literally nothing else on! Yum to that smoothie and hooray to H&M. I know how you feel about TJs. We’re finally getting one in February and I cannot wait. One of my friends has already guessed that I’m going to go into labor the day they open out of excitement. Glad you got in your AM workout :) And that last picture of you and your Momma is awesome. You two are rocking ladies :). Happy weekend!
Wow, it seemed so strange to me that you don’t have H&M (I assume you meant the clothing store…) in Utah. I mean, where I live, H&M is basically in every shopping mall. Like McDonalds ;) On the other hand, it was only about 4 years ago when the very first Starbucks was opened in Poland, so maybe it’s not that strange ;)
I know for sure that I’m just starting a 4-day long weekend (bank holiday ahead :)), the weather is beautiful and I’m going to hit up the gym and have a killer workout with my husband and then we’re going to have a fancy dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary :)
I also know for sure that I just ate 2 high protein cookies that you posted about yesterday and they were great, but I feel like I’m never going to be hungry again ;) I guess it’s true that protein is the key to satiety.
One thing I know for sure is life is more exciting with my dog. He went to a dog sitter for the night and I miss him :(
I love the pic of you and the pups, I am getting a hippie/earth child vibe to it and love it. And that pic of lil Penny–OMG!
One thing i also know for sure is that I would never make it in Utah-snow at the end of April? eeps!!
one thing i know for sure is that your mother looks amazing. period. and to have popped out all your kids…just makes her even MORE amazing. both in body, mind, and spirit. She’s a rockin momma B. And you are too :)
I love the crocheted place mat.
And that you had a great fake it til you make it workout. Story of my life about twice a week.
great photos, j! i love seeing some of your favourite places and the happy memories. you and your mom rock!
congrats on getting h & m!!! can you believe, we DO have that in my city…and it’s awesome. now i’m just waiting for a lululemon and a whole foods…a girl can always dream!
i know for sure that when you have a mom who is also a BF, you are truly blessed.
happy weekend!
You and your mom are so awesome!!
NOOO I can’t believe it snowed again!!! Well, hopefully it will be short lived. We are so close to May and then summer! :)
One thing I know for sure…. after living everywhere BUT Utah for the last 11 years… and now being back I do not know… like really cannot figure out how I survived the first 20 years of my life here. It baffles me. I am FREEZING all of the time. I am miserable and I want to go back to California… like yesterday! :)
I also now know that I do not like black bean brownies. I made them yesterday and was not impressed.
I LOVE your picture of you and your mom, how awesome! Your both hot!!!! :)
h&m!!!! love that store and i shop there constantly i’m so close to one too :) i am envious of your relationship with your mom, she “gets you” for you without you having to be someone other than yourself. my mom is rigidly conservative and everything is black and white to her so me having “grey opinions” doesn’t sit well :/ i don’t eat sugar either, in fact i even eliminated fruit over lent and have kept it out (the fructose doesn’t sit well with me). i will say, i’m stronger, have made lean muscle gains avoiding the stuff and any sign of a muffin top is gone. viva la sugar free lifestyle!
That picture of puppy penny and you in the car is my favorite thing ever!
One thing I know for sure – I’m luck we have sun here and no snow! Sun just makes me so happy :)
I love that picture of penny. When we picked up our kitty Stoner he slept on Jacobs shoulders the entire ride home. It was so cute. He was super tiny too, less than a pound. Animals just make me smile :)
One thing I know for sure is how dang excited I am about H&M at Fashion Place!!!! Score!!!
The picture of Penny sleeping over your shoulders is adorable :)
I know for sure that you are the sweetest most thoughtful friend ever! I can’t wait to make my tofu scramble. My mom was so impressed that blog friends are actually that good to each other!
Also, had no idea your mom did BFL with you. That’s so amazing!
SNOW!?! ughhh im sooo happy the snow is gone here!
You and your mom both look amazing!
You and your mom are the cutest things ever!!!!!! And that picture with Penny behind your neck = adorable!
Hmm…I know for sure that I love my husband and kids so much, that when I miss them, it hurts, like physically hurts. Crazy! I know that I will rock my promotional exam tomorrow. I will. For reals because I can do this! I know that Lynn’s movie All the People I Slept With was hilarious! Loved it! And I know that your blog is the bomb! It is just what I need everyday to be inspired. Really. You are awesome, Janetha! Thanks for that!
I want warm weather too! Gahhh. I’m so sick of being cold all the time.
And nice sweats. I literally come home and put mine on immediately. Hhah.
One thing I know for sure is I need some pie.
Ahhh I would love an H&M here too (and a TJ’s)!
Loved the pictures!
I love these pictures (especially the one with you and mama b) – and YOU! I received the cutest little x-mas package in the mail today, and thought you were trying to send me your snow! I’ll take your maple PB, but leave your Christmas-y weather in Utah! But you seriously rock, Janetha!!! My fiance was laughing at me when he saw how excited I was about that package! :)
Yay for tackling that workout, J! Our minds can really get in the way, can’t they?!
One thing I know for sure – you are AWESOME! :) I love how close you are with your family!
I love the flashback style pictures!
One thing I know for sure…I need my family to survive!
I’m ready to leave work and start my weekend!
great post :) one thing I know for sure is I’m ready for the semester to be over, so my move to asheville can commence!
One thing I know for sure is that I cannot get enough of your posts! Love the flash back pics…you look soooooo young in that one from London! Wow! And Momma B ROCKS!! You two are some smokin ladies! ;)
PS, That pic of Penny is so adorable!
What a great post Janetha! :D My favorite pic is of you and Momma B! :D
I know for sure I can’t wait for my daughter to come home so we can go to Trader Joe’s (sorry!) and to Goodwill – we are thrift store whores! :D
Enjoy your Sunday!
I remember the boat trip… well the pictures. That was the first time I found Meals and Moves and LOVED the awesome pictures of the canyons. That was in 2009? Man, time flies!
Great pic of you and your mom- you both look amazing!
Yes the mind is an amazing thing. I do the same thing sometimes, but like you said you can really do something!
love the pic of you and your mom!! both look amazing!
that chili is totally better the next day! so glad you liked it!!
