hey blog lovin ladies! (well, and matt and evan..) how’s your wednesday? i don’t say “hump day” because that term drives me bonkers. the term “bonkers” is amazing, though, and i think i need to use it more often.
i’ve got the jazz game tonight.. very last one of the season since they didn’t make it to the playoffs (boooo, hisssss).. so this post is going to be shorter and, as always, slightly random. maybe more random than usual, actually. you know when i have a title like “stuff.”, things are going to be a little out there.
last night after our delicious salmon dinner (oh, i forgot to tell you guys that my seafood hating husband has agreed to eat fish! i am so excited about it. i can finally cook fish and then put fish recipes on the blog.) we watched the people i’ve slept with.
we watched this for one reason: lynn chen. yes, fellow food blogger lynn, is an actress! and an amazing one at that. this is the second movie of hers that we have watched and she is really great. you should all check it out. it’s on netflix.
woke up bright and early at 6:30 AM to do the cardio recovery DVD of insanity. this one is only 30 minutes long and is easy peasy. it’s nice to have a break, though, i can’t lie. i am loving insanity and loving the morning workouts! i have all sorts of time after work now. i am never looking back.
breakfast was a sweet and savory duo of delicious.
on the savory side, which is where i started, we have five egg whites + ketchup.
yes, five egg whites. i was going to do four but there were five eggs left in the carton so i went with it. i whisked them and poured them into a bowl sprayed with olive oil and nuked them for 3 minutes on 70% power. that is how an ultimate protein pillow is achieved. this egg white puff packs 30 grams of protein.
the sweet side was one toasted whole wheat bagel thin + cinnamon raisin swirl peanut butter.
here’s my decision: i love bagel thins. i only love them if they are toasted. i don’t love them for sandwiches. the end.
time to throw a couple random links your way!
- katy talked about post timing and how to time your blog posting for the biggest impact. i pay no attention to when i post.. it is just always once a night whenever i can get it published. but this information caught my eye and, while i am not going to change how often i post, i am going to try to take some of her suggestions and improve my blogging habits.
- brittany posted a really cool diagram that shows just what companies are running the organic industry. if you are into organic stuff (which you should be) it may be worth your while to check out her post. it is surprising to see who is behind some of my favorite companies!
lunch was random.. but actually one of the best i have had in awhile!
spaghetti squash + 3/4 c cottage cheese (seasoned with ranch seasoning) + roasted cherry tomatoes.
and a citrus kombucha because i felt like it.
delicious and nutritious, right linds?
ready for more random links?! yeah, i thought so!
- hope is getting married! she is in the running to win a disney FAIRYTALE wedding. she needs your vote—please click here and vote for hope.
- elise posted this SUUUUPER informative post about greek yogurt. if you eat greek yogurt (or even if you don’t) you should read it. i learned so much!
speaking of greek yogurt.. remember how i posted about there being a chobani shortage the other day?
several of you chimed in that you also experienced the same thing and your grocery stores were out of chobani.
well guess what? emily from chobani contacted me and let me know that she is bummed we all missed out on the goodness. SO, she has generously offered to send anyone commented they experienced a shortage at the store a “rain check.” to get a coupon for FREE chobani, simply direct message @chobani on twitter and they will happily send you a coupon!
if you aren’t on twitter and experienced the shortage, just contact me with your address and i will forward it along to chobani myself.
you have to LOVE a company that will offer consumers something like this. chobani is nothing but good—just like their logo says! thanks, emily!
and now it’s time to announce the winner of the cell mate giveaway!
congrats, marlow! send me your mailing address and i will ship your cell mate to you. remember, if you want to purchase a cell mate, go here and enter the discount code “mealsandmoves” to get 25% off your order.
and now, because i have nothing else to talk about, i am going to do #11 of my 30 day challenge.. that is turning into a 5 month long ordeal.
i haven’t updated my ipod in over a year, so there will be nothing current or new here. i am one of those people who is NOT up to date on current music. such is life. oh but i did buy the new sounds album recently! it’s good.
readyyyy.. go!
1. zero by the smashing pumpkins. fun fact: this CD (mellon coolie and the infinite sadness) was the FIRST CD i ever owned when i got my first CD player in sixth grade.
2. pickpocket by at the drive in. i wish they were still a band…
3. just what i needed by the cars.
4. stars in her eyes by the murder city devils.
5. the company dime by the get up kids.
6. proposals by cursive.
7. hurricane drunk by florence & the machine.
8. good ol’ fashion nightmare by matt & kim.
9. confession by lagwagon.
10. jude law and a semester abroad by brand new.
well that was fun. and easy. does anyone notice that when they put their ipod on shuffle, the same songs come up really often? maybe it’s just me…
alright, time to shut up. and go to the game. see ya tomorrow! don’t forget to snag your free chobani coupon if you missed out on chobani at your store!
Qs~
1. what is your favorite band? because i can’t pick one, i will name five of my favorites: metric, face to face, minus the bear, aesop rock and the good life. a little of everything.

Thanks for the inclusion :-)
And I’ve been wanting to see Lynn’s movie for ages. Definitely renting it over the Summer.
Ugh, I’ve always hated the term hump day. Could anything sound more absurd – and creepy?
Totally agree about the bagel thins! I stock the cinnamon & raisin ones in my freezer like nobody’s business and then drown them in Laughing Cow Swiss cheese – it rocks.
That smashing pumpkins album was also one of the first 3 or 4 CDs I ever owned. I got that album and Tragic Kingdom for my b-day in 4th grade! I can still remember being mesmerized by the “Tonight, Tonight” music video
Damn it! I was so pumped cuz I thought I was 1st commenter. ;)
Haha, I love how Matt and Evan are basically the only male bloggers.
I am with you on hating the term “hump day”….”bonkers” totally descibes how it makes me feel!
Let’s rid people’s vocabulary of that annoying expression by creating something catchier.
Any ideas?
Nayyy to hump day. I hate that term. And yayy to random posts. I am really excited to read the post about Greek yogurt (going there after I finish this lovely comment). Um spaghetti squash- its been too long- I miss you, love, Erica. Chobani totally rocks. My food store sells out of flavors left and right. I partially blame this on me though- I buy like 10 0%s at a time….;)Enjoy the game
i say hump day occasionally, but i dont prefer it.
i love John Mayer and Michael Franti for music.
I was totally going to look for bagel thins the last time I was at the grocery store because of your blog, but then i totally forgot until now! gotta put it on the list.
I sometimes say hump day but I am really not a huge fan of the world haha
I saw that article that Brittany posted about and it is scary and crazy to think where the food industry is going sometimes!! And thanks again for the reminder about Lynn’s movies I need to go and check them out :)
i can’t believe there’s a chobani shortage!!!
and you are so awesome for shouting out the movie on the blog. thank you!!!
1. The Flaming Lips will always be my top.
2. NAAAAY
I think I may have lost my shuffle :( Sadness.
ah I want to do that shuffle thing!! so fun!! i have NO idea what would pop up :)
thanks for the linkage! just read the post on greek yogurt and yes informative indeed!!!!
Theres gotta be more men out there reading your blog! I know I’ve got at least five and your a WAY more popular blogger than me.
I thought I was the only one that even knew about face to face. They are touring in the spring! I like a lot of different kinds of music, so my shuffles would be rather interesting!
Have fun at the Jazz game, maybe you’ll catch a foul! (clearly, I know LOTS about sports!) ;)
I miss doing Insanity!!!! I did it a month ago and LOVED it!!! That Shaun T baby! He makes waking up a whole lot easier. :)
I saw that you posted this lunch on FB today and couldn’t wait to see the results. Looks delicious!
I like the term hump day…I hadn’t even heard the term until I started reading blogs :)
One of my favourite bands is Gogol Bordello! They are a “Gypsy” punk band and the are awesome. Not many people of heard about them, usually when I talk about them, all I get are blank stares. :)
love cursive. fave band is radiohead followed up by the smiths (oh the british little post punk in me). yay for hump day ;)
Bonkers? You like Bonkers?
I love sweet and savory breakfasts like that though!
Love the shoutout to Matt and Evan, it totally made me laugh.
Yay for all the links! I’ve now got some reading material. :)
Blink-182, hands down. Has been since 7th grade! I saw them three times in concert last summer and they are hilarious live, too.
Just realized that The People I’ve Slept With is on INSTANT view- watching NOW!
Love that you added the boys in the hey! Matt and Evan are the blogger boys!! They rock!
I have never heard of that movie, but nice butt to the girl on the cover, hahaha!
Have fun at the Jazz game! I saw you had 2 extra tix, if Mike and I lived closer, we would so go!!
love u! xoxo
i’m kind of mad at you that you didn’t include my post about the greatest gram cracker on earrth…
hahaha spag squash & cottage cheese is SO good! i know you don’t like it sweet but i swear if you cinnamon it up it totally pays off
I don’t love the term “hump day” and said it today on the blog. weird :( But I love U2 (the band)!! YAH
Yay for Chobani – can I email you my address? – I am not down with The Twitter, haha.
Yay for Smashing Pumpkins, Jude Law & a Semester Abroad, eating salmon, and the 30 day challenge!
oh wow way too many bands to choose from buuuut right no wim obsessed with the black keys
I am loving your music taste. I listen to all the same stuff. My favorite band is old school Green Day. I’ve been listening to them since I was a kid.
You hate “hump day” but you like “bonkers”? Haha! I’m ok with it in writing, but just don’t come up to me and say, “Well, happy hump day to ya!” Yeah, that’s right up there with, “Oh, does somebody have a case of the Mundays?” phff!
Love that you gave a shout out to Matt and Evan! Haha!
Ok, so I am really NOT up to date on current music…I probably haven’t updated my iPod (I so just typed iPond!) in over a year and a half. I haven’t even heard of a single band you listed as your faves! Wow, I’m outta touch…now I’m going to have to spend the rest of the night on Google and You Tube so I no longer feel like an uncultured idiot…thanks J. ;)
All the bands I like are not mainstream at ALL so don’t feel bad!
Sent from my iPhone
Love the movie info that Lynn was in…very cool!
And I saw Elise’s yogurt post. And the songs in your shuffle…fun to hear what everyone likes.
My ipod is all over the map from rap to hip hop to 80s rock to power ballads. You just never know what’s gonna pop up :)
Hump day, it’s ok. It’s so played out it’s new again, ya know?!
Ah man, I really need to re-stock on Cinnamon Swirl PB! Where do you buy yours? Online?
Grocery store!
Sent from my iPhone
I just bought my first Kombucha today but I haven’t tried it yet! I got the Passionfruit kind…I hope it is good. The lady at the store told me either people love it or hate it!
And I totally agree about bagel thins and needing to be toasted–it is a must! :)
Yessss. I totally got my package today. Was so excited I had to blog about it. Yes, I get excited about things like larabars and bumper stickers. Thanks J!
i think the hump day saying is giggle-worthy.
Band – Sublime
Hump Day, hee hee, Nay
hump day? don’t mind hearing it, but never use it.
i will check out lynn’s film! i like the sounds of the title!
shuffle? yes! i’ve had the theory forever that it only *likes* certain songs, and plays them wayyy more than others!
enjoy the bball game – toronto raptors have their final game tonight, too. FYI – toronto sports teams SUCK! baseball, hockey, basketball… we don’t know how to get to the playoffs!
that is way nice of chobani to do that special coupon
offer!
congrats on the insanity!!!
Favorite band would have to be rancid or dropkick murphys. I’ve seen metric live! i used to listen to them all the time and thought they were awesome till i went to one of their shows. Definatley not someone i’d see again. they were rude to the fans, and threaten to walk off the stage because someone threw flowers to them. Not really impressed. The music is good though!
Go JAZZZZ! :) Love NBA games and will root for anyone but the Lake show. (Boo Kobe!)
I thought you said favorite BRAND. I was going to say Anthropologie.
I HATE the term hump day. I might just be jealous.
I love Brand New!!!!!
I don’t know what I am more excited about….Marshall eati” fish or that lovely citrus!?! All around cheers!!! Can you hear me woohooo “ing?”
and thanks to you, I now listen to minus the bear. I call it “that bear station by JG” on pandora.
#1, 2, 3, 7, and 8 all came on my shuffle today , too! we must be pretty cool ;)
Aesop Rock… yessssssssssssss.
LOVE at the drive in…I switched to the mars volta since they still make music.
I also love beirut and portugal. the man.
a) i showed kyle the cell mate and we are literally going to buy 10 now
b) im glad my nerdy post was of use to you
c) bonkers is fabulous
d) hump day is not. humping is a wonderful thing and i hate its association with a sh!tty work day
e) i didnt know the sounds have a new album. love!
f) i am enjoying your 30 whatever challenge, i dont care how long it takes you :)
Ooooh mmm do I love me some PB bagels for breakfast.
I kept scrolling down your blog and it made my way when I read that about Chobani, unfortunately since I’m not on the whole twitter bandwagon (yet), if you’d be such a doll as to pass it on for me and score me a coupon?! I feel lame, I never ask for favors of fellow bloggies but hey…
I’m off to a relaxing night with some Real World and ice cream after a 30-hour day of work and homework (is that even possible?) Throw me an email if you happen to get that “CUE-pon” (;
What do the ”spaghetti” of spaghetti squash taste like? I’m dying to try it!
PS: How come you only eat egg whites? What do you do with the yolk leftovers?
totally agree on the toasting of the thins!
I actually made your protein muffins tonight, thankfully had a lemon chobani left from a grocery run a couple weeks ago; but all stores around me have been cleared out since!
If the coupon is available would appreciate; not a tweeter.
I watched that movie too. Ricky from My So Called Life is in it!
1. Favorite band? As of right now I’m going to say Kings of Leon b/c I saw them in concert on Tuesday and they were AMAZING!
2. I’m not a huge fan of hump day, although I do use it sometimes :-/
1. The Clarks and I seriously heart JT. :)
2. Definitely NAY (I almost wrote about that last night!!)
I had an old English teacher who always called Wednesday “The Peak of the Week!”
He’d say… “Good morning! it’s the peak of the week! just an easy slide down on to Friday!”
And then on Friday, he’d say “It’s the eeeeeeeend of the snails trail!”
So, so cute!
Therefore, I call Wednesday the same thing… and not Hump Day!
1. I love Matt and Evan.
2. I once wrote an email to my professor saying “happy hump day!” — I’m still not sure if he knew the phrase.. but after that I consistently received A’s on all my papers. Just sayin’..
3. that was a joke.
4. I want spaghetti squash but don’t feel like cutting it opened. come give me your gunnnnns.
LOVE YOU!
nice! i can’t wait to check out lynn’s movie! love her blog.
fave band right now has to be “the script” i’m so obsessed. they are on my pandora EVERYday.
humpday, YAY! but for some reason the word bonkers strikes me as odd? lol
xo.
Ugh what I would give to try Chobani/Kombucha!!
We’ll probably catch on in a few years…
Love your blog :) Have been reading it for over a year now and possibly my favourite!
