from the heart.

in meals

hey guys.

my sister arrived from california tonight. the whole fam came up to the parents’ place and we are having $115 worth of mexican takeout.

photos 001

that, my friends, is 17 fish tacos, 8 orders of rice & beans, 6 orders of chips, salsa & guac, a chile verde burrito and a chicken salad. to go.

because i am busy enjoying quality time with people i love, i won’t be posting about today. in case you wondered, it was a pretty great day.

instead of a typical meals & moves post.. i am posting something from the heart. not from my heart, but from momma b’s heart.

here she is..

Thank you is not a big enough word!  I am absolutely overwhelmed with the outpouring of love, prayers and concern for me, Janetha and our family!!  The past few days have been scary but also rewarding and quite eye opening.

This is Janetha’s blog. I’m glad she shares our family with all of you and is allowing me some space here to “ramble” (now you know where she gets it!)  I am so proud of the way she approaches all aspects of her life. She is willing to share, serve, humor, teach and love us with such candor and honesty, I am so happy to be her mother!

I’m all about helping others and hope my scare will perhaps help others out there experiencing some of what’s up in my life.  Yes, I’m a pretty healthy 58 year old who loves to exercise and tries real hard to eat right ;)

I now know I have a hole in my heart – we will find out Monday, March 28 just how big the hole is and whether or not it will require repair.  My oldest daughter is a research junkie, I am so thankful for the articles and links she has sent to our family – we are learning a lot and knowledge is power!!

We are learning that the hole may have a close connection to the migraines I suffer with as well as the TIA’s I have also had.  A few of you mentioned situations in your own lives and families that are quite similar to what we are experiencing and sharing with us is so helpful, thanks again!!

I came home at noon today feeling a little “off” having worked in the morning.  I ate some of Janetha’s left over lasagna (yum) and then sat down and began to read all of your sweet comments……before long I had tears dripping on my keyboard feeling so richly blessed by your kind words of encouragement and love, you folks are so incredibly amazing!!  But you know what the best part was???  Before too long I no longer was feeling “off” – I was feeling SO much better!  I am also all about positive affirmations – I have a necklace I love to wear that says “Think good, it will be good” and that about sums it up!

It is so rewarding to be surrounded by such love and concern – now I’m starting to repeat myself and sound crazy– haha!  So I will close by telling you how much I love ALL of you, I consider you family and include you in my daily prayers. It may sound cliché but I totally feel your love and prayers— it keeps me going!  I have a great love and respect for a loving Heavenly Father who knows us all and wants us to be happy.  I also have great faith in the power of prayer, I have a wonderful family close by and all of you – I am a blessed and lucky momma b!!!!

from the bottom of both of our hearts…

…thank you.

I’m glad to hear you guys are figuring out the cause behind the recent problems. Your family continues to be in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing you the best.

Amanda March 24, 2011 at 7:47 pm

I cried. (I’m a baby.) Love you Janetha and love to Momma B. Enjoy the family time and hug each other lots. You are lucky to have each other.

Meg March 24, 2011 at 7:51 pm

Oh Momma B! What a wonderful letter. I can see where Janetha gets the ability to express her personality so well in writing. This reminds me so much of my mom and my relationship because we’re quite close as well. Nothing is quite like it.

You both will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. <3

Mara @ What's For Dinner? March 24, 2011 at 7:54 pm

Love to you Momma B! You’re a rockstar :) You and Janetha will be in my thoughts and prayers…

Mama Pea March 24, 2011 at 8:00 pm

My mom and I have been praying for you guys every day and every day she has asked me “Have you heard anything about Sue?” And now I can tell her yes. At least you guys are starting to get answers and I 100% believe that this WILL be fixable! You’ve got at least two Peas praying for that!

Christin@purplebirdblog March 24, 2011 at 8:01 pm

I’m crying over here too. Momma B, you are loved, as is your dearest Janetha! xoxo

Erin March 24, 2011 at 8:01 pm

Dearest Momma B,
Now there are tears all over MY keyboard! You are such a strong woman, and a great example not only for your daughter, but for all women. I wish you the swiftest of recoveries.
Sending so much love.

Andrea@WellnessNotes March 24, 2011 at 8:02 pm

I’m so glad the family is together! Thanks for an update in your own words, momma b!!! Sending you all lots of hugs, love, and prayers!

Sarah keegan March 24, 2011 at 8:10 pm

What a great night!

This question is for Momma B, do you have a PFO? I was diagnosed with one last year and for now they are choosing to not repair it, although if you do indeed have one and it contributed to your TIA I feel like I should investigate further.

At any rate, I love this blog and thank you Janetha for sharing your life and family with us!

Best of health to you.

Shannon March 24, 2011 at 8:16 pm

Oh Momma B, I’m so glad that you are feeling a bit better and have a reason which only leads to solution! You’ve got a strong family and lots of people rooting for you. You will get through this quickly because you are healthy, happy and have lots of good vibes directed your way. I wish you all the best!

Janetha, take all the time you need hon! Take care of your family and know that we all care and are hoping for everything to be well very very soon.

-From a very lurky blogger…. not a stalker, I just care without commenting much ;)

Amy March 24, 2011 at 8:23 pm

I am so happy to hear that you are finding out the cause for your recent setback Momma B! And that is all it will be too, just a minor setback until shopping again for giant kitchen spoons with Janetha!
Janetha is an inspiration to many who read her blog (like myself) and isn’t because of her moves of her meals. It is her life — and her approach to it that keeps me reading!

Enjoy your Mexican fare tonight — and prayers for only good news come Monday.

Abby March 24, 2011 at 8:32 pm

What a wonderful post! I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers! :)

Jenn (GH) March 24, 2011 at 9:36 pm

You are beautiful inside and out, Momma B.

edenseats March 24, 2011 at 9:48 pm

Momma b,
I hope you read this because I want you to know how much your words have moved me. As you know, I don’t have a mom and my dad also suffered a stroke. I’ve read all your previous guest posts and always had this secret wish you’d adopt me some day. And not only because this would make Janetha my sibling! You are so brave and strong, and you are always in my thoughts. My dad was also quiet healthy, but still suffered the stroke. I guess they don’t discriminate :(. But I have all the faith in the world you’ll get through this bump in the road. I look forward to meeting you someday so I can give you a proper hug. Take care!
-Eden

Janetha,
Love you ;)

Thinking of you guys and praying for you! I’m so happy to see Momma B’s post :)

My uncle had a massive stroke 8 years ago and we didn’t think he would make it. He was in a coma fo 2 weeks and had horrible swelling in his brain. At my wedding (7 years ago), he was in a wheelchair and really couldn’t do anything for himself.

But today? He’s working. He’s driving. He’s driving all of us crazy to still everything he did before :) It really was a miracle – I know Momma B will come out of all this even better than before :)

Cara March 25, 2011 at 6:29 am
