hey guys! i introduced my simply switches about a week ago. if you remember, i made a list of five simple switches to incorporate into my life:
- eat more of a variety
- stop pressing snooze for so long
- fresh flowers in the house to brighten my mood
- stretching during commercials
- more meatless meals
i wanted to check in with these switches so i could keep myself in check! i did really well with the snooze button for about five days.. but this morning i pressed it for 45 minutes! woops. a work in progress, for sure. i still have the fresh flowers, am stretching as often as i possibly can and have planned some meatless meals (and even purchased the ingredients for them—now i just need to make them!).
the one switch that i am really doing a great job on is eating more of a variety. i didn’t mention this, but i made a decision to eat a different breakfast every morning this week.
monday
breakfast parfait: 1 cup chobani greek yogurt, 1/2 cup nature’s path ancient grains graonla & a dollup of skippy natural peanut butter.
tuesday
egg whites & french toast.
we usually go to the original pancake house on mondays, but this week we went on tuesday because our sales meeting was switched. i usually get eggs and oats, but i decided to ask them if they could do french toast with wheat bread. i am glad i asked, because they happily made it for me and i happily ate it!
wednesday
breakfast sandwich: 1 egg+2 egg whites scrambled, 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese & 2 slices of whole wheat toast.
i was in a big rush on wednesday (you can tell by the overexposed photos.. i didn’t even take time to properly set my camera settings. oops!), so i took my breakfast on the go.. but it was still something new!
thursday
cereal & toast: kashi golean + cascadian farms multigrain squares + skim milk & a slice of whole wheat toast with skippy natural peanut butter.
again, i was in a rush, so this was a quick and easy breakfast. i will be the first to admit it was lacking in protein, but the peanut butter helped keep me full.
friday
protein oatmeal: 1/3 cup oats, 1 scoop EAS premium protein powder (vanilla) & a dollup of skippy natural peanut butter.
it snowed last night so i had a nice, bright backdrop for my breakfast!
protein oats never fail to fill me up. i love them.
tomorrow, saturday, i will be having a protein waffle or pancakes. then on sunday i will be making an omelet. seven different breakfasts for seven days! i didn’t think i’d be able to do it, but i proved myself wrong.
good job, self.
in other news, i had to go to the grocery store yesterday to get marshall some rolls for the beef stew. homeboy is not on the PB toast wagon with me. i didn’t want to go get him rolls because i knew i would walk out of the store with more than just rolls.
i was right.
ugh, i am such a compulsive shopper. we all know i didn’t NEED anything at the store, yet i managed to spend $30.
i wanted to share what i got because there were some good deals that i need to clue you utahns in on! i went to smith’s marketplace in btown, FYI.
- adora calcium discs are now sold there in both dark and milk chocolate
- vitatops are now on sale
- braggs is also on sale right now
- i bought garbanzo bean flour to make ashley’s bread recipe
- izzes are always a must for marshall
- this organic ranch dip is great and doesn’t have MSG like the hidden valley ranch stuff (sad that it does)
- if your husband wants rolls and you want to pretend like you baked them, buy the rhodes warm & serve. 6 “fresh baked” rolls in 12 minutes. don’t mind that they are 160 calories each and your husband ate five of them for dinner. we can’t all eat 800 calories in rolls alone each night. damn him.
FLASHBACK FRIDAY!
time for some more wedding flashbacking! this time i will be showing you guys the wedding party photos. i did something not very traditional and actually SAW marshall before the ceremony. because of the venue, we had to have our ceremony at 7 PM. you see, we had our wedding at a tropical plant store, and so the store was open until 6 o’clock.. meaning we couldn’t barge in and get married until after closing time.
because i wanted photos in the sunshine, this meant i had to suck it up and see my mister before we sealed the deal. some say it is bad luck.. i say it is an added bonus. i got to trounce around the town in my wedding dress with some of my best friends on my wedding day. it was an absolute blast!
my photographers, brody and stacie, are geniuses. they really did a great job at capturing unique shots of the wedding party. without further rambling.. here are the photos!
i think he was grabbing my butt in the one below.
you can’t tell from the photos, but it was scorching hot outside. a big, heavy wedding dress didn’t help the sitch. i was so sweaty! i mean, it was the middle of july, after all.
me with my bridesmaids..
j5 – lindsay
allie – kristen (my maid of honor)
apparently marshall & his groomsmen got a little more personal ;)
dave – nick
other nick – shane (marshall’s best man)
more walking..
love these tall trees!
marshall & the ladies~
me & the dudes.. i LOVE these guys!
handsome fellows.
an artsy shot~
love this one~
flip flops for the win!
the dudes had custom made pumas. marshall wouldn’t have anything else! he is obsessed. we had to have them custom made because 3 of the 4 groomsmen are vegan which = no suede or leather.
cool stair shot!
more walking :)
so much fun.
there you have it! tune in next week for another wedding flashback.
what are you up to this weekend? i am going to take it easy for the most part. marshall’s obviously watching the packers game on saturday night. i really need to get a handle on my messy house. it’s pretty ridiculous.
if you come clean and do laundry for me, i will make you breakfast.
clearly, i have lots of options.
Qs~
1. do you eat the same breakfast daily or switch it up? what are some of your main breakfasts?
2. married folks: did you see your spouse before the ceremony?

I have so many different things I like for breakfast I really should switch it up more. yet I keep going for the old trusted oats.
I love these pictures!
I spent the night with my husband the night before the wedding. We got ready separately, but took almost all of our wedding pictures together before the ceremony (which is good, because he tripped and busted out his front teeth walking down the aisle, so, thankfully, we had fancy pictures of us while he still had teeth!).
oh my gosh! that is a story for the books.
Wow! You did a great job on the variety. I totally get stuck in meal ruts….but I kind of love them ;) I can’t just buy one thing at the store….I’ve tried many a times. LOVE your wedding photos. Especially the non-traditional pictures. Ours were pretty much 100% non traditional. I also love you are wicked tiny, like me ;) This weekend- lots going on! But all good stuff:
Tonight- Restaurant week in Charleston! Date with Josh at Grill 225. Tomorrow- shopping with my Mama and then group fitness holiday party at night. Sunday- FOOTBALL (GO PATS!)
1. do you eat the same breakfast daily or switch it up? what are some of your main breakfasts? I go through phases where I eat the same thing for a while. Right now I’m on eggs and fruit
2. married folks: did you see your spouse before the ceremony? I did not. But wouldn’t have been a big deal if I did ;)
oh but we did share a bed the night before (but he was still asleep when I left)
I loved seeing more of your wedding pics. That color purple is beautiful- and you glow in those pics. Hotness!
Awesome job on all your different breakfasts!! They looked amazing!! I am OBSESSED with your wedding photos!! They belong in a magazine! You are so gorgeous! We did see each other before the ceremony, we had a big breakfast before with fam and close friends….best way to start the day:) I will come clean!
No on the spouse….seeing :)
I have different things, mini yam cakes eeew had to had 1 tlbs pbutter to them :) Fruit with greek yogurt and sometimes cinn and agave on top. protein french toast ROCKS! eggs scramled, frittas(made and frozen on weekends)! Turkey bacon!
Its all yummy….
Good god woman, I love your photos. Your friends are gorgeous. I love the photo of the groomsmen essentially checking you out. I love the touchy feely men pictures. I love that you got the Pumas without suede and leather for your vegan friends. And uh, sweaty my ass. You look damn good for trouncing around town in July. My dress would be covered in pit stains and other nastiness, and I’d look like the wicked witch of the west. I am one sweaty beeyotch. ;)
Your awesomeness is unmatched.
I had been in a banana oatmeal with PB rut, but today switched it up for some peanut flour yogurt + cereal and fruit. Delish!
And LOVE your wedding pics – the colors are beautiful! Nothing looks to stuffy…just perfect!
1. do you eat the same breakfast daily or switch it up? what are some of your main breakfasts? I eat some of the same breakfasts over and over again. I’m not too creative in the mornings it seems.
2. married folks: did you see your spouse before the ceremony? I’m not married yet but I’m going to see Kepa before the wedding so we can get pictures out of the way. :)
i am so impressed with your breakfast changes!! that is like the one meal i cannot changee!!
good for you for switching up the breakfasts! I usually have the same things most mornings and I can definitely see the challenge in coming up with something new every ding dong day.
Lovin’ the wedding flashbacks!
“every ding dong day” i love that.
always love to see your wedding photos! and you have some really unique and beautiful shots! keep ’em coming!!
solidly love my oatmeal and pb and an apple and pb for breakfast. never grows old. nothing else satisfies as much. which of your seven bfasts will win the “best breakfast” award?!
didn’t see hubby before the wedding…i can just see the look of horror that would have been on my mom’s face if i had!! but i don’t see anything wrong with breaking with that “tradition!”
oh that is hard! i think that the french toast was the best this week, but i could eat a parfait every day!
Oh I’m loving all the photos! Gorgeous and fun!! I’m boring and eat oatmeal almost every single day. My switch up is whether I have it with a banana or cinnamon apple ;-)
I have big with the turkey sausage and oatmeal…I make the sausage before I leave for work and then eat it with my oatmeal at my desk…I have eaten a lot of that this week..and it is yummy!!
I saw my hubs before the ceremony. We also had our venue from 7pm till midnight so any type of posed pics needed to be done before the wedding. Once at the venue our photographer was free to take all the candid shoots her heart desired…my fav part about my wedding was the photos!!
your pictures are SO gorgeous! I absolutely love them!!
I barely ever have the same breakfast twice in a row! Being hungry for breakfast is what wakes me up in the morning. ;]
PS – I bought the dark chocolate Adora disks the other day and I love them! It’s hard to believe they are calcium-packed.
I usually eat 2 breakfasts in the morning (B1 and B2). 1 is almost always some sort of oatmeal. B1 is on the way to work at 6, B2 is usually the oats around 9-10
I *just* went to Original Pancake House here in Poway this morning with an friend! I got chocolate chip pancakes because Sofi wanted them and we were sharing because of all the food… but my friend got the most amazing omelet. Egg whites with ham and cheddar and avocado in the middle. She ordered it dry and they bake them! Maybe you know all of this, but I thought I’d share. I didn’t realize they had one in SLC and put it on my list of places to take you to. I can cross it off because there are lots more places! :)
*that should have said an old friend. Somehow I was typing too fast and the word didn’t make it from my brain to my fingers!
hahahah of course i know all this! i dont get the omelets because they are HUGE. but how did you not know about the one here? i go there EVERY. MONDAY. OF. MY. LIFE. geez, way to pay attention. ;) love you.
I guess I just didn’t pay attention to the name because I figured I’d never go there. (And I haven’t lived there for 7 years… and even then I lived in Provo!) I thought it was a local kind of place… not a multiple location type of place. When I read it just now, the light went off and I realized that you had been going there every Monday when you talk about it in your blogs! I want to get a Dutch Boy. I’ll have to wait until I can share that one!
i bet mom’s german pancakes are better than the dutch baby. but they do look good! if you go again, get the crepes.. mmmm…
Wow you would look soooooo cute with a dutch boy :) can’t wait to see the new do!!
Yup! Andy and I did a first look. I loved it! We both cried like big babies when we saw each other. Aw.
I love your wedding pictures, you are so beautiful Janetha!
My breakfast these days are one of two things… option #1=peice of WW toast topped w. a slice of cheese and an over easy egg & a side of either 2 soysage link or 1 soysage patty – option #2= my savory oats (recipe can be found on my recipe tab).
Did I see my mister before our wedding… YES! We eloped, so that means that he actually drove me there, too ;) …there = the court house.
I just got my car cleaned, but my apartment is a MESS! gah, I dont even want to deal with it! I’ll cook for anybody for a week if they clean it!
I usually have the same breakfast, greek yogurt mixed with cinnamon, strawberries or pears and some sort of cereal. snooze…..I know! I usually have a second breakfast of protein pancakes with sugar free jelly. I’m not a syrup girl, at least not on pancakes!
And my husband, James Franco, did not see me before the wedding. In fact, he’s never seen me period (I’m convinced one day he will!)
I eat oatmeal almost every day:)
good job self. haha. i love you. i feel like a lamo because ive never added protein powder to oats before. im iffy on protein powder in general but i do have a few vega packets…hmmm…wheels turning in my brain…
im a big time compulsive shopper…its a problem. i should NEVER enter a store without a strict grocery list. costco is the worst. no, whole foods is the worst. oh who am i kidding, it doesnt matter where i am…
so pretty! you are so petite :) (that’s a good thing!)
I aim to try different breakfasts but i tend to stick to the same easy things since the little guy limits my cooking time.
we saw each other before our wedding, which is part of a Jewish wedding. We had a ceremony where we signed a religious document called a ketubah. it’s very traditional but is a beautiful piece of art we will always have
I have eaten chocolate chip pancakes 4 out of 5 days this week. LOL. Tomorrow I might have blueberry ;)
I always like to think I’ll switch it up for breakfast but I never give myself enough time to actually make anything. That sandwich looks amazing though!
When we got married we didn’t see eachother beforehand but if I could go back and do it all over again I would!
i eat the same thing so often, its so convenient though! i need to learn to switch things up a little more, i’ve actually been planning a meal plan for next week, so that should help
I love oats and I will sometimes eat them every day of the week for breakfast, but I always do different mix-ins and toppings. For the past week though, I’ve been out of bananas (which I think MAKE a bowl of oats) so I’ve been making all sorts of different things! You just reminded me that I haven’t had a bowl of protein oats in a while! So good and soooo filling!
LOVE your yellow bowl! Especially in the white snow!
Your pics are beautiful! My favorite ones are the one where the guys are checking you out, the artsy one, and the staircase!
Your wedding pictures are so good! You looked beautiful, Janetha. :) And, the theme is so unique. TWO THUMBS UP. :D
I’ve been having some different variations of breakfast lately. Eggs with toast, omelets, protein oats, protein pancakes. Next week I am going to embark on your breakfast challenge! 7 different breakfasts…hmm, I wonder if I will succeed?
Not married yet, but when I do get married, I think I will see my husband-to-be before the ceremony. I don’t believe in bad luck, but then again, it would be nice to see his initial reaction when I am walking down the isle. ;)
I love that yellow bowl for oatmeal! Definitely my favorite color :)
I love love love the wedding pictures!!! Super creative! :D
I usually have yogurt for breakfast. It stays with me pretty long. :D But I sometimes mix it up with eggs- I probably should do it more often.
This weekend is sort of up in the air. I’m still not feeling 100% and I’m going to my friend’s mom’s memorial service tomorrow afternoon. It will be an up and down weekend, but I’m glad it’s 3 days long.
Love these photos! I get in ruts with breakfast but definitely making efforts to change it up
lol… I am playing hookie from work and came across your post, love it great idea. I will subscribe, can’t wait for the next one :) ~SK
WOW janetha this is by far my favorite round of wedding pics so far!! they are incredible. i also LOVE LOVE LOVE how you are like a foot shorter than everyone else in the wedding party, it makes you look so freaking adorable in the pics. you are awesome for rocking flip flops too! love the pic of your feet with the bridesmaids.
i’m getting married (june 2012) and it will be the same situation for me in terms of height – i’m only 5 feet and my friends are mostly 5’6″ and above. but i refuse to wear heels and fall on my face on my wedding day. i’ll rock flats like you did.
to answer your questions, i eat the same breakfast every day for a few months then change to something else. so boring i know but i’m too exhausted at 5AM when i wake up to be creative. when i get married i might see him before the ceremony, it’s not that big of a deal to me!
I lovveee the artsy shot. And the shot of you on different level stairs. Beautiful photos.
Seriously you have some of the best wedding photos I have seen!!! They are all perfect! Love the ones with the flip-flops :)
1. I tend to mix things up a lot.
2. Adam tried to stop by where I was getting dressed (not to see me on purpose, he had the wrong hotel room) before the wedding but I was so busy stuffing my face that I didn’t even notice!
I seriously die a little bit every time you post wedding photos, your wedding was just so freaking classy and cute!
Your pictures are beautiful!!! I waffled back and forth about doing pictures together before the wedding but ended up not. At least not with each other. We did his and her family shots and bride/groomsmen and groom/bridesmaids before and then the big group shots with both of us afterwards. Looking back I’m glad we did it that way – the feeling of seeing his face for the first time as the doors to the chapel opened was incredible. I was smiling so hard I thought my face would crack!
Your wedding pictures are great! Your photographer did an amazing job!
I eat pretty much the same few things for breakfast – oats, eggs, or yogurt. I could use some more variety though…I should work on that too!
i love the pics!
yes i saw scott before the ceremony. we rode to the liittle chapel in Vegas together in the limo. We had to stop at city hall downtown vegas and get our marriage license. then we were driven to the chapel. Our limo driver asked us if we wanted to stop off at any liquor stores b/c he knew stores that had great liquor specials. lol
We did it sober :)
I just posted about groc store finds yesterday and yes, just walking into one for ONE thing…ends up costing like $30 for all those things you “Find that you need” :)
This is just so funny because everyone had great posts about breakfasts today! And I’ve been going crazy eating my protein oats. I’m craving variety!
I eat your protein waffles for breakfast most days anymore – love them. And those wedding shots are amazing – I know I’ve said it before, but, gosh, what a photographer!
Have a great weekend!
you = gorgeous. is that the same wells fargo bldg in salt lake city that we shot the “white on rice” wedding scene at?!?
I love all your wedding shots! They are so different and awesome!
You definitly had me drooling over Mon and tues breakfast!
I <3 french toast!
That’s a great idea. I need to do that with my dinner meals – say that I WILL – I MUST – make something different every night. It’s usually so late and after work (which totally stresses out my day) and I pretty much always eat the same things over and over then.
Love the wedding photos! The color of the bridesmaid dresses is gorgeous!
definitely good job with the breakfasts – funny thing is that i eat all those things too but for some reason, my brain automatically goes to making an egg white and cheese omelet every single morning. prob cuz it’s easy as shit and super tasty.
AWESOME wedding pics!!
hahah can i tell you that you would probably hate me in real life because i hate the snow but love deej becasue about 4 minutes ago she was complaining about the battery life of her “draiwwwwwwd” aka droid
i eat the same breakfast until it’s used up and then i switch to something else.
i didn’t see my spouse before the ceremony but should have – we missed the whole cocktail hour taking pictures!
Love the wedding pictures!
seeing your future hubby before the wedding is so a-okay! when I get married I will do the pictures before hand, so I can spend more time at the reception and have all the fun I want! My friends did the same thing and they both still cried when she was walking down the aisle, so now I know it is emotional no matter if you saw your future spouse before or after!
