some mood.

in meals

i am in some mood tonight.

this might  have something to do with it.

ugh. writing thank you cards five and a half months after my wedding makes me cranky.

although, that’s not the only reason i am being a grump. sometimes i just get in these really ornery moods and i have no good reason for them. i came home from work and have been like this since. i didn’t even make it to the gym.

my poor husband, he can’t even go home to get away from me like he could when we were just dating.

marshall said i was being so mean that he didn’t dare ask me to make him dinner.

so he made his own.

IMG_5489

salad, organic spaghettios and a turkey, cheddar & avocado panini. the boy can fend for himself, as you can see.

i stole half of the panini and ate a stack of cucumbers.

IMG_5490

and a bowl of cereal. and three clementines. what?

i am going to go bake. hopefully that will cheer me up.  if it doesn’t, i am not opposed to turning to sea salt dark chocolate as a last resort.

i am sure i will be back to normal tomorrow.

until then, i am going to shut up so i don’t scare you guys off Winking smile

1.  do you ever get into unexplainable grumpy moods? how do you defunkify?

2. happy national bean day! what’s your favorite bean?

VeggieGirl January 6, 2011 at 7:58 pm

1.) I’m in one of those moods now too :(

2.) black beans

simplyshaka January 6, 2011 at 7:59 pm

So I’ve been on a bean kick lately yet don’t celebrate today—what gives??

It’s been forev since I’ve had spaghettio’s. They kinda creep me out now but I want to see for sure if they do.

I am one of the moodiest people alive and can switch into a horrible mood in a second for no good reason. When I am like that, my friends and family know to just leave me alone and I will circle back up with them when I am feeling more like myself. Go get some puppy kisses :)

Jessica @ How Sweet January 6, 2011 at 8:00 pm

I definitely do. I was in one this week. A good sleep help. :)

specki January 6, 2011 at 8:01 pm

You actually put me in a good mood since my wedding was “only” 3 1/2 months ago and we still haven’t sent out Thank You cards…. :(

Black beans and garbs are my favorite (mmm hummus)

Liz @ Blog is the New Black January 6, 2011 at 8:02 pm

WICKED cute thank you’s!!!!!!! :) And yes, I get in those moods, particularly near that time of the month… I just try to wake up and think it’s a new day!

purplebirdblog January 6, 2011 at 8:04 pm

I totally funk it up, probably more often than I should. It’s hard for me not to be all broody when I get like that, and if I can’t make myself exercise then usually just sleeping is what makes it go away. Or dessert. Or both. And I totally approve of Marshall’s dinner and would like some too please. Maybe you should go watch some more Spike Can Dance videos. I have been LMAO all day. :)

sabrinarella January 6, 2011 at 8:04 pm

I got my cards out at a surprisingly quick pace. However, I still have all of the guy friends still sitting on my computer desk because we have to hand them out. Whoops.

Matt @ The Kitchen of a Runner January 6, 2011 at 8:10 pm

I get in those moods all the time! Is the weather crappy there? That always sets me off ;)

kissmybroccoli January 6, 2011 at 8:10 pm

Ugh! Hate those days…at least if you could pinpoint a reason, it would make you feel better (or well, at least justified). When I get like that I usually bake something that is super simple (because nobody wants to experiment in the kitchen with one of THOSE moods) and then nibble on my goodie while reading a book or magazine! If that doesn’t work, I just call it a day and try to start over tomorrow!

I love beans, but don’t make me choose between my chickpeas and black beans!

Nicole C January 6, 2011 at 8:16 pm

I have been doing the same thing, I come home and I just turn sour. I get mad if there is a single dish in the sink or something stupid. Ben even told me to smile the other day. I want to kick myself sometime to snap out of it. Today was good though, think happy thoughts!

As for beans, I like black beans..mmm!

runningaroundnormal January 6, 2011 at 8:18 pm

1. Um, YES! Usually Shane just tells me I’m being mean and I laugh at how unreasonably mean I’m being.

On another note? Those Thank You cards?! ADORABLE.

Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun January 6, 2011 at 8:19 pm

Hope you’re feeling normal and cheery soon. I like my bubbly Janetha Bean!

fightingwithfood January 6, 2011 at 8:22 pm

Usually a good, long workout gets me out of the funk. Or a really great night’s sleep. Something that ALWAYS works when I’ve been a grump to my husband – I kiss him and apologize and I instantly feel better. I imagine a kiss from Marshall might help ;)
Hope you’re defunkified soon!

Tw January 6, 2011 at 8:24 pm

Yes I feel that way this week b/c I am thankful but sick of unpacking my house that never sold…..2. black beans ok and navy w/ham!

Sarah January 6, 2011 at 8:25 pm

yes! my grumpy moods are NOT pleasant, as my fiance would be sure to tell you. but usually he can just say something along the lines of “stop being so grumpy” or “you’re with me, don’t be cranky” and i stop. we do have a long distance relationship right now though, so he does have a point that i shouldn’t be a cranky-pants during our precious time together!

and i really do love your thank you cards!

April January 6, 2011 at 8:32 pm

Right there with you on the grump moods. I hate when they come out of nowhere and you just have to deal.

Do jelly beans count?? JK. Black beans for the win.

Maren January 6, 2011 at 8:33 pm

I had a couple squares of sea salt dark chocolate and I made heab’s latkes this afternoon! Very delish. Hope baking makes you snap outta your mood! My fav beans are definitely black beans!

Erica January 6, 2011 at 8:42 pm

Your thank you cards are SO cute. I totally get in funks too- happens to the best of us. I feel like I should be isolated when it happens ;) National bean day? My favorite…I couldn’t pick- black beans, pinto, chickpeas….

maria @ Chasing the Now January 6, 2011 at 8:44 pm

Those are some of the cutest thank you cards I’ve ever seen. Adorable!!!

I get you on getting in a funky mood for no reason.

Katy January 6, 2011 at 8:45 pm

I hate those days. Baking usually helps. ;)

Carbzilla January 6, 2011 at 8:50 pm

Okay, I’m not laughing AT you. I’m laughing cuz you’re not? That sad little picture of Marshall in his protective hoodie…I’m sorry. I have to laugh. And this is the second blog in a row I’ve read where the wife is melting down. Your thank yous are beyond adorable. As are you, even when grumpy. Hugs-a- million!

Katie January 6, 2011 at 9:12 pm

I get in those sometimes. It’s usually around my period. And, my boyfriend always gets the crappy treatment from me. I try not to, but sometimes it’s inevitable. :(

My fav bean is probably the kidney bean! haha not a big fan of beans, actually. oh wait, i take that back…baked beans ALL THE WAY!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) January 6, 2011 at 9:30 pm

omg yes!!! all people do! anyone who says they never get into A Mood, is probably lying :) lol

For me it happens when i am stressed, there is no end in sight for relief, and the stars just….align!

Feel free to vent girl..let it out! You will feel better!!!

Sarah January 6, 2011 at 9:38 pm

YES. Usually going to the gym and/or cleaning works wonders. If not, God help whoever happens to be around me…that’s usually my boy. Poor guy.

Meg January 6, 2011 at 9:57 pm

Arg. I have those days. The gym has been known to help alleviate grumps for me. Or cookies. ;) Hope you’re feeling back to normal soon.

Muncher Cruncher January 6, 2011 at 10:34 pm

I feel the SAME way today! Maybe it’s this yucky Utah weather?? Gross. I am obsessed with garbanzo beans. I used to stay away from them because I thought they looked like little brains, but man those things are good. DIVINE. I hope your day is better tomorrow!! :)

snackgirlgoeshealthy January 6, 2011 at 11:39 pm

hahaha! little brains! that is so funny! They kinda do now that you point it out!

Michelle... January 6, 2011 at 10:35 pm

How fitting, I made chili with 3 kinds of beans in it today! My favorite on their own are black beans. Black beans and rice forever!!

As for funks…curling up with my cat and a really bad Lifetime movie is always good for mine. Or if it’s nice out going out for a walk or run.

kristastes January 6, 2011 at 10:36 pm

I have those days/moments. I blame it on hormones or hunger (or both!) – when I’m super hungry, I will literally feel like picking a fight with everyone around me OR be on the verge of tears. My dad gets in the same grump mode when hunger strikes so I blame it on his genes. :)

caronae January 6, 2011 at 10:39 pm

Awww, sorry to hear about the mood girlie. Sometimes it just happens. I get in sad/icky moods for no reason all the time. I think it usually winds up being hormonal. Hope tomorrow is better!
xoxo

Mary (A Merry Life) January 6, 2011 at 11:24 pm

I get in those moods sometimes too. Lately it’s been often. :(

My favorite bean is black beans! :)

ps – I like your thank you cards!

snackgirlgoeshealthy January 6, 2011 at 11:38 pm

HAHA YES! I get in those moods to sometime! I usually try to go on a walk or excersise OR listen to some really happy upbeat music that will get you feeling happy!

That usually helps for me. I get in bad moods sometimes too , it sucks! I hate being cranky! A lot of the time its becasue of my bad back pain!

My fav bean is white beans! lol

edenseats January 6, 2011 at 11:48 pm

I’m sorry your cranky, but everyone whos human gets cranky. I dont know why, but I start cleaning when I’m ticked off. At least when I’m done, the place is clean, I released some pent up energy, and I feel productive. All while listen to good tune too. I dont know why but listening to the beatles helps me cheer up.
beans? Hmm I like white navy beans. And chili! I love chili in burgers! I also love chili with cottage cheese! dont gag, its actually so good!

Runeatrepeat January 7, 2011 at 12:28 am

I love beans!!! All of them, but am partial to garbanzos <3

Katie January 7, 2011 at 12:57 am

my favorite bean is janetha bean.
;)

Katie January 7, 2011 at 4:37 am

Oh my! I get in a bad mood/crabby and Mike has radar for that, he stays away!!! lol! He learned the hard way I suppose when he didnt ; )

I like to take a hot bath and just relax when I get like that, or read a book !

Love ya ! xoxo

lindsay January 7, 2011 at 4:51 am

haha, this post makes me feel normal. I’ve been there, especially with those darn thank you notes. Wish I could send a virtual e-card to everyone instead. But, its the “write” thing to do. Spaghettios……that boy sure likes his pasta, in every form!

Lauren January 7, 2011 at 4:59 am

Ugh, writing thank you cards are a pain but you have the CUTEST cards I’ve ever seen. What a great idea. I don’t even think you need to write anything, they say enough. ;)

Heather January 7, 2011 at 5:24 am

I definitely get in these moods. My husband and son hide in the basement playing video games when they know I’m crabby. :)

Abby January 7, 2011 at 6:07 am

It’s no minor coincidence that my name rhymes with “crabby,” as I do get in mini-moods once in awhile. My remedy? Tea, cleaning, walking or if all else fails–watching “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” or “Zoolander.” Mindless comedy–I love it ;)

Moods pass, thank goodness. If they don’t, then it’s your personality and you’re screwed.

My favorite bean is garbanzo. In fact, I’m kind of obsessed with them, whether you say garbanzo or chickpea (chickpea sounds cuter though, no?)

rachel January 7, 2011 at 6:09 am

Mmmm that panini looks nummy!!

a taste of health with balance January 7, 2011 at 6:19 am

venting is just the only way to go sometimes.. i know how you feel! feel better!!

Meaghan January 7, 2011 at 6:29 am

Ah, yes, funky town, I know that place well ;) Usually I just need to go to bed and start fresh the next day!

Mmm I love ALL beans, depends what I’m using them for!

Suzanne January 7, 2011 at 6:45 am

Yes, I have PMDD and it has taken me YEARS of reading and experimenting to control my feelings during that 2 weeks of the month. I meditate alot and drink lots of organic catnip tea.

A quick roll in the hey helps too! ;)

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine January 7, 2011 at 6:46 am

Since being home I’ve gotten into a lot of funky moods. My mom and I bump heads a lot. Watching Titanic and eating dark chocolate always makes me feel better, though!

Salah January 7, 2011 at 7:23 am

1. I get in those moods sometimes too. I usually will take a bath and listen to some calming music or do some yoga and my mood will turn around :-) HOpe today is better for you!

2. My favorite bean has got to be black beans :-) so delish!

MelissaNibbles January 7, 2011 at 7:26 am

I get in moods like that all the time. I blame…everyone.

Kristin (Cook, Bake, Nibble) January 7, 2011 at 7:29 am

LOVE those cards! So cute!

I understand being in a funky mood, and it is SO hard to get out of! I try to think positive, have myself a little treat if I want one (a glass of wine, a cookie) and maybe listen to something or watch something that makes me smile. Usually does it!

I love love love beans, so hard… chickpeas or white beans methinks. But I also have a soft spot for black beans. Please don’t make me choose!

xo

brandi January 7, 2011 at 7:44 am

oh yeah – those days happen to all of us.

I love the Ty cards! So cute :)

Here’s hoping your Friday is going better!!

Annie January 7, 2011 at 7:48 am

I definitely get super moody sometimes. I try to tell my SO that I’m in a mood and its not his fault. It helps if I do something to take my mind off of it. Baking, yoga and reading a good book all work well for me.

withasideofhope January 7, 2011 at 8:19 am

I do get into moods like that sometimes. It helps if I do something to take my mind off of what is bothering me like watching tv, cooking something, or talking it out with someone. Your thank you notes are super cute! I hope you have a good Friday :)
