ready to go.

in meals

hey guys! thanks for all the sweet comments on my christmas posts. i really do believe it is the most wonderful time of the year. i love everything about christmas! hard to believe it has come and gone already. for the past two years (three if you include this year), post-christmas-season to me has meant one thing: beach body prep.

yep. my company takes me on a tropical vacation at the end of january/beginning of february. you may recall when i went to jamaica last year. you know, the trip where i got engaged? that was fun.

anyway, last year i did a really detailed, organized, structured 4 week eating and exercise program that i made up myself and called it my jamaican me bikini ready challenge.(thanks to deb for the catchy name!)

well, this friday marks 4 weeks until my trip. we are going to sunny playa del carmen, mexico.

image

yippee!

i looked back at my jamaica challenge and kind of laughed a little. i laughed because i saw the strict guidelines i set for myself to get in shape for a trip that i was taking with a bunch of people who really didn’t care what i looked like. i mean, aside from marshall, who already loved me for me (obviously, since he popped the big question), there was no one else for me to impress in jamaica. i suppose the person i was wanting to get “bikini ready” for was myself.

times change.

this year, things are different. no, i am not in tip top dream bikini body condition right now. actually, to be honest, i am probably in worse shape than i was when i started getting ready for jamaica last year. being a newlywed will do that to ya.. it will make you not want to go to the gym regularly and you will eat whatever you want.. and really just not care about working out 6 times a week and eating clean 90% of the time.  true story.  but guess what? i am already good enough for myself. just the way i am. and, of course, good enough for marshall.. (but that doesn’t even count because he prefers me to be 30 pounds overweight and have bigger boobs and a bigger butt. love him.) but, back to me, like i said.. i am already good enough for myself.

i didn’t realize this until yesterday… when it dawned on me that mexico is a month away. i looked in the mirror last night. in just my underthings, mind you (i hate any official word for underthings so i call them underthings.)  i hadn’t been to the gym in a week. i ate mac & cheese and chicken puffs for dinner. three of them. i had just polished off a cup of oreo frozen custard.  and i’d been eating christmas treats like it was my job for the past 5 days. and the only thought that came to my mind when i looked in the mirror was, “yep. ready for mexico!”

i am not sure when i decided i was already ready.. maybe it was because i adopted susan’s december goal of no more fat talk. i have made a conscious effort this month to only say nice things to myself about myself. and, what do you know, it has worked. no, i don’t look like i did here. but i also don’t look like i did here. (those “here”s link to my very best shape and my very worst shape, in case you aren’t into clicking.) right now i look strong. healthy. happy. and i don’t need a strict plan to “get ready” to go on a vacation.

i am not saying that i am going to stop focusing on exercise and clean eating. those two things are very big parts of my life! but i am saying that i am not going to bust my ass for the next 4 weeks just so my ass can look smaller in a bikini.

it’s funny how much i have lightened up in 2010. this year has been good to me. i have kept my healthy habits but really stopped being so rigid with myself and what i will and won’t do. if i don’t make it to the gym.. no big deal. and if i eat unhealthy meals a few days in a row—that’s ok. things will balance out.

i actually got a super sweet email from lindsay yesterday that made me smile and couldn’t have come at a better time:

“I am so impressed with your soda-less year! Way to go girl. I have seen your blog become more about being balanced with family, friends, health, and fitness. Its been inspiring and a JOY to read!”

by the way, thank you for that, linds. it is so nice to hear that my internal transformations are also visible to others. i feel more balanced and definitely feel happier overall.

looking back at my jamaica challenge wasn’t all bad, however. i did see some good habits that i kept and wish i kept now. and there were lots of great meal ideas, since i was planning 35 meals a week! just for fun, i decided to copy and paste the jamaica challenge guidelines into this post and comment (in italics) on the things i will and won’t be doing these four weeks before my trip to mexico.

JAMAICAN ME BIKINI READY FOUR WEEK GAME PLAN (originally from january 2010)

the meals.

drinks:

  • consume between 1 and 1.5 gallons of water daily <—going to do this for sure.
  • one cup of black coffee each morning <—i add almond milk or skim milk to my coffee these days and will continue to do so.
  • drink unsweetened green tea as often as possible <—probably not. green tea was never my thing.
  • NO other beverages other than these three (which=no booze!) <—i am sticking to this. i rarely drink booze.

eats:

  • meal plan on sunday for the entire upcoming week <—hahahahaha.. i am not much for meal planning right now, but i want to get back into it!
  • three meals + two snacks daily (designated as meals 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) <—yes, this is how i always eat.
  • no starchy carbs after meal #3 (beans are ok) <—NO WAY, no how. why did i ever do this to myself?
  • no cereal <—hahah.. no. i love cereal. i didn’t even follow this last year! it can’t be followed.
  • no pasta <—yeah right. marshall’s favorite food is pasta. this is unavoidable.
  • no rice <—only because i hardly ever eat rice…
  • no nut or seed butters (PB2 is ok) <—to be honest, i only eat peanut butter once or twice a week these days. but by no means will i ban it.
  • no full fat cheeses or full fat dairy <—i only eat full fat cheese these days.
  • no eating after 9 o’clock PM <—i like this and actually try to stick to it when i can.
  • no sweets/foods with added sugar (fruit is ok, of course!) <—i am a sweet monster lately, but i do want to tame that sweet tooth.. tone it down a bit per say.
  • absolutely NO bites, licks, tastes (BLTs) <—a constant goal of mine.
  • limit potato consumption to two per week <—haha wtf? what was i thinking? bring on the potatoes.
  • one free meal each week (not free day~ free meal) <—these days, i just eat as healthy as i can. no free meals/days/etc.. just try to eat healthy but if i want to eat out, no biggie.

vitamins & supplements:

  • CLA twice daily <—yes, i do this.
  • fish oil twice daily <—i need to start doing this again.
  • multivitamin once daily <—i do this.
  • EAS muscle armor + 1 scoop protein powder after strength training (no more than 30 minutes after) <—i need to do this! also, i need to start strength training more often. workouts have been scarce this month.

the moves.

monday: cardio 45 min + abs 15 min<—i will be doing 30 min cardio and no abs (i do abs on weight days now)

tuesday: lower body 60 min<—45 minutes lower body

wednesday: cardio 45 min + abs 15 min<—see monday

thursday: upper body 60 min<—45 minutes upper body

friday: cardio 45 min + abs 15 min<—see monday

saturday: HIIT 20 min + total body strength training 60 min<—rest day

sunday: rest day no workout<—cardio if i feel like it.. or another rest day

totals
6 workouts<—more like 5 usually
6 hours & 20 min<—3 to 3.5 hours

everything in between.

  • take documentation photos once a week <—no.
  • get at least 7 hours of sleep each night <—yes, please.
  • wash face twice daily, exfoliate/mask once a week (i am notorious for going to be with my makeup still on!) <—yes to the face washing.
  • begin using sensitive paste (i got it from my dentist~i have sensitive teeth!) <—not necessary, woohoo!
  • floss daily <—i do this nowadays!
  • brush morning and night (this i already do religiously but it’s good to note) <—obviously.
  • whiten teeth once a week <—yes, i need to do this.
  • use jergen’s natural glow daily (helps build a faux tan!) <—yep, i will be doing this.

so, you see, i will be on the right track to being in good condition for a tropical vacation, but i really won’t be going crazy over every little morsel, move or detail.

because i am already ready to go.

Qs~

1. what do you love about yourself most when you look in the mirror?

2. how have you changed this year?

zoe December 28, 2010 at 6:06 pm

janetha, i love you! (i mean that in the most non-creeper sense!!!)

i’ve become so, so less rigid in these past few months too and am struggling to accept that i look healthier and feel happier (most days) than when i was constantly busting my ass. i am physically more fit, though i weigh more and have completely dialed down the intensity of my work outs. i’ve stopped obsessing and you know what? it feels awesome. kind of free-ing. i’ve noticed the change on here, too. and i have to say — i kind of love it! you feel more real to me now, i think. not that you didn’t before but i always wondered if it was stressful to be so rigid (because i always felt like it was). anyway, this comment is getting on the lengthy side but just know you’re totally inspiring and helping me feel more at ease with all my (very similar to yours!) life changes. you’re going to have a blast in mexico!

Liz @ Blog is the New Black December 28, 2010 at 6:09 pm

Good enough for myself is a great motto! :)

Allison @ Food For Healing December 28, 2010 at 6:09 pm

I need to start doing a solid plan like this… seriously! thanks for reminding me .. we leave in 1 month exactly. eek

janetha @ meals & moves December 28, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Haha ummmm the whole point of the post was that I’m not doing that plan! But Yay … 4 weeks!

andrea December 28, 2010 at 6:30 pm

lol

Allison @ Food For Healing December 28, 2010 at 6:40 pm

I know lol but thats because you’re awesome
i need a little extra motivation on my end however :P

Andrea@WellnessNotes December 28, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Sounds like you are in a good place! :) I have also lightened up a lot when it comes to exercise and was just thinking about that earlier today. A year ago, I went to the gym pretty much every single day and beat myself up when I didn’t make it. It was pretty crazy, and I now realize that it wasn’t healthy… I feel like I have much more balance in my life these days…

How great that you are going to Mexico in a month! It’s so nice when you have a trip to look forward to…

purplebirdblog December 28, 2010 at 6:14 pm

Janetha, I love you. And I can say with certainty that there is a peace and love in your face that is even more prevalent now than it was when I started reading your blog (definitely over a year ago at this point). You are definitely a source of inspiration to me and I thank you for all that you are and do! <3

I love my smile, and even the silly little smile wrinkles I am getting. It shows I smile A LOT.

I have changed in a lot of ways, health-wise and life-wise. I am healthier mentally, physically, and spiritually. I am striving to be the best I can and get rid of negativity in my life. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be present in each day that I am alive.

Mallory December 28, 2010 at 6:15 pm

i LOVE this.
when you had your hardcore jamaican me bikini ready plan, you encouraged me to kick my butt into gear as well.
and now, when you’re trying to scale it back and accept that you’re already ready, you’re encouraging me to do the same. be nicer to myself. have more of a balance vs. a strict plan.
just wish i had a mexican vacation to look forward to as well :) have fun!

Rose December 28, 2010 at 6:16 pm

I love aspects of this plan. I may crib some notes from it to test out my own will power. I should start figuring out exactly how much water I drink a day.

Matt @ The Kitchen of a Runner December 28, 2010 at 6:20 pm

Janetha, I love you ;)

Leena December 28, 2010 at 6:21 pm

ZOMFG, what a timely post. LOVE IT! I’m doing my own Jamaica challenge right now, and have been slacking on it big time for the past week. I’ve been beating myself up about it for the past couple of days, and your post made me question why. Why the insane amounts of pressure when I’m going with the dude who loves me regardless of what the number on the scale says. It seems….silly. I’m still going to go through with the challenge, just because most of the stuff on the list (working out, eating right) is stuff I enjoy doing anyway. But I’m going to stop stressing myself out about what strangers are going to think of me at the beach. Thanks, Janetha!

andrea December 28, 2010 at 6:31 pm

You are so brave to post those pics…although I think they could both be after…

Lauren December 28, 2010 at 6:37 pm

HOLY CRAP GIRL you ROCK MY WORLD!!!!!! Can I just tell you how much I needed to hear this post tonight. I just posted about my own goals for next year and one of my biggest goal is to just accept myself!!!!! I’m so tired of trying to be better because I’ll never be good enough or at least in a realistic approach. I love my life. And that is all I need. I’m read for Mexico too! Please take me with you. ;)

Meg December 28, 2010 at 6:38 pm

I am in a similar state of mind since my hubby and I are hoping to spend a few days in hawaii the beginning of february and I’m really glad you brought up the no fat talk. I remember when I was preparing to go to Mexico two years ago, my friend was OBSESSED with getting tan and skinny. I kind of caught on to it (though I had a nasty virus at the time that sucked the life out of me) and looking back it was pretty ridiculous. I like your revamped plan for this year. You go girl!

Carbzilla December 28, 2010 at 6:39 pm

I love how your married “letting yourself go” is still 1000 times more healthy than most people’s lifestyles! I can’t wait to hear all about your trip. I think I’ll turn on my heat dish and pretend that we’re there!

I gotta get back on the teeth bleaching (and flossing).

Way to stay balanced, sister!

Katie December 28, 2010 at 6:58 pm

you rock girl and I love your outlook !!

I think its great to have goals but not goals that restrict you sooooooooo much and stress you out! life is too short!

I look in the mirror and think, heck yeah Im comfortable in my skin, I treat my body good, and thats all that matters, life is too precious to scrutinize the little things, and to put so much pressure on your looks, I love myself and my fiance loves me and my body too : )

love you!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) December 28, 2010 at 7:03 pm

love the post, Janetha!

I remember when you were getting ready for Jamiaca. I had just returned from Aruba and was living in Phx and was HATING the fact that i was back from my vacay and “stuck” in Phx. Just reading this post about your posts last year instantly take me back to that place…my own trip down mem land! :)

So that’s what’s diff about me this year: i LOVE where i am living. San diego baby!

I think your goals are great. Marriage changes you. And just wait til you have kid(s). x100-fold changes you :) In good ways, of course!

Lo December 28, 2010 at 7:31 pm

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i love you. I think 2010 made everyone less freakish about food, exercise, fat talk, what have you. I met my boyf almost a year ago and yeah i have put on maybe 5…10 more likely pounds and no one cares.

One day, I was having “fat talk moments” at a bffs bday party, and thought that, that what just insane. In that moment I said, NO MORE>>> that was over 3 months ago and I have seriously not had self- doubt since. Sure, some fat talk creeps in, but I internally yell at it to go away, because I am healthy, happy, and in love!

You deserve a fab time in Mexico…not a stressful one! Just because you maybe arent the size you were a year ago, doesnt mean you aren’t beautiful, healthy and inspiring. Oh, and I would KILL for your strength!

thanks for this post mama

xoxo
Lo

Paige is Running Around Normal December 28, 2010 at 7:50 pm

Sounds like a solid plan, girl :)
However, I’m just so excited for you to go to Mexico!! Heck yeah!!!

LOVE this! funny thing is that my BF loves me at all sizes, but most when I’m a more curvy and bootylicious ;) but seriously, your attitude is awesome, and it radiates every day on your blog. you enjoy life and appreciate what matters most and have a great hubby ! love it

Teri [a foodie stays fit] December 28, 2010 at 8:08 pm

Janetha, this was such a great post! I have also noticed that your blog and health seems a little more laid back and I love it. I think it’s so inspiring to see a woman I totally respect and love be able to have such a healthy relationship with herself. Thanks for being a wonderful example to me!

simplyshaka December 28, 2010 at 8:13 pm

I love your attitude about this trip, it’s very refreshing and it just made me smile to read all about it (especially the bring on the potatoes part!) And yeaaaaaaah, is your company hiring? :)

allison marie December 28, 2010 at 8:13 pm

so jeal your company takes you on vacay!

I’m super impressed with your attitude – it certainly shows growth. The reality is (even though I am seemingly incapable of doing this) you already look wonderful. Treating yourself right – mind and soul – and being loved is all you need to be radiant. Plus, you’re already gorgeous.

Susan December 28, 2010 at 8:19 pm

Sooo… I stepped on my mom’s scale today. Last time I stepped on her scale was almost 7 months ago and I’m officially 10 lbs heavier. Like, officially. And you know what? I still went to the gym after, and thought only good things about my muscles :) I’d say we’ve both changed this year, as I think we were in similar spots the year before. Damn straight you’re bikini ready right now! In the end, we’re both incredibly healthy girls. Obsessing over a bikini, not so healthy. Heart you JG!! xo

kristastes December 28, 2010 at 8:30 pm

I loved your answers to last year’s plan, especially the potato reply lol! I am a huge fan of my arms because if I fall off the lifting bandwagon, I can get them back to tip top tone in like 2 weeks with pushups. Win!

I changed so much this year, and wayyyy for the better! I was an emotional wreck last year, due to a whole lot of crap going down in my life. My (informal) goal for 2010 was to chill out…which I did :)

julie December 28, 2010 at 8:38 pm

can we talk about how much i’m loving this? lately i’ve been really slacking on everything and the other day i realized hey i’m okay with it! i’m not married and definitely don’t even have a boyfriend but i figure nobody is ever gonna want a psycho freak so i’m just being a chill outter for the new year haha

Lisa @ I'm an Okie December 28, 2010 at 8:49 pm

I started reading your blog a little before this challenge for Jamaica and I was in the same mindset as you were when you did this..and I thought, heck yeah. She’s awesome with so much control.

Then, I remember both of us talking about how we worked so hard..only to realize on our trips that no one cared. here we were, looking amazing after all of our hard work, and we were still covering up with a towel when our swimsuits were on so our tummies wouldn’t hang out. I remember we talked about how all of these other women didn’t have as tight of bodies as us, but they let it all go and looked beautiful and confident. We wished we could be them and have that attitude.

Well, darlin, I think we are both there. :)

Heather December 28, 2010 at 8:51 pm

Janetha, this is seriously the BEST. I have been a lot less strict with myself and TRYING to be Ok with it. Of course, there will always be “something”, but for the most part I’m happy with myself, even with the extra 10 lbs! :) Don’t know what changed, or how I came to accept it, but I’m glad I did b/c life is a whole heck of a lot easier.

Karen December 28, 2010 at 8:54 pm

We went to Playa del Carmen for our honeymoon and LOVED it!! We went back again for our one year anniversary too! I think we would go back every year if finances permitted!

I really like your attitude about your body!! Truly inspirational!!

lindsay December 28, 2010 at 9:04 pm

Like I said before, its a JOY to read! In fact, its refreshing to know that we are perfect when we start accepting ourselves. I love all the “tweaking” you did and I am sure Marshall is so aprreciative of your time with him and his pasta loving self!
Such a wonderful post. You never cease to amaze me friend!
Cheers,
LC

p.s.
Lifes too short not to eat full fat dairy, haha!

Maryann December 28, 2010 at 9:30 pm

I loved reading your game plan/comments! and my boyfriend always tells me he would like me heavier too, its kinda nice since its hard for me to let go some times…he puts some sense into me– reminding me its OK to skip the gym, etc!

Tina @ Faith Fitness Fun December 28, 2010 at 9:35 pm

So interesting to see the changes, huh? I can hardly believe the things I used to place on myself. Ridiculous!

And you’re hot. Keep doing your thang!

Runeatrepeat December 28, 2010 at 9:42 pm

You are gorgeous. I’m glad that you see it and I love that Marshall is like Ben about the preference towards bigger boobs and butts. Ha. Boys.

I support whatever you choose to do to stay healthy :)

Lee December 28, 2010 at 9:57 pm

Sounds good to me. Sometimes I think back a few years (before my blog) to how strict I was with my eating habits and realize while I might have been smaller, I was driving myself crazy trying to stay that way.

As for how I’ve changed in the last year? Aside from getting married, I drink much less nowadays. Like much, much less.

jqlee December 28, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Hi Love,

I just made a mini paragraph about a year ago too! I am so different too – size, body, mind, spirit. I am happier with myself too but still want to get back to working out – my heart needs it, I was passing out walking up stairs. LOL. I forgot that I could run out of breath.

Anways, hope you are doing fabulous and glad that you are good with yourself. Mexico!! Jealous!

Stefanie December 28, 2010 at 10:13 pm

YES to everything in this post! I absolutely love your outlook. I have changed so much year, and I’d like to think it’s all for the better. And blogging/reading blogs (like this post!) has been a huge part of my positive changes. :)

P.S. Your so lucky to go on a tropical vacay in the middle of winter!

emily (a nutritionist eats) December 28, 2010 at 10:22 pm

This is a WONDERFUL post Janetha and I LOVE it! There is nothing wrong with a little shift in priorities!

Sofia December 28, 2010 at 10:24 pm

i love love love this post. i totally remember your jamaica bikini challenge thing and to be honest, it made me a little sad for you and i did think you were a little crazy. just a little. why would a girl who already looks damn good try to ban cereal and carbs after 3pm? and why so rigid a diet for one silly trip. i’m so glad you now see the light, and i totally agree that your blog is so much more fun and lighthearted and enjoyable to read now that you’ve toned down the obsessive meals and moves. life is where it’s at, and you are most certainly living it.

and onto the questions:

1. i like my newfound curves. i’ve put on ten pounds since the beginning of the year and have come to accept and love my new body… as does the boyfriend. :)
2. i’ve taken more risks this year: quit my job, started grad school, made new friends, dated a ton, met a great guy… all positive things :)

Nat December 28, 2010 at 10:37 pm

Great post! I enjoyed reading this… looking back on someone’s old plans and what they are now. It’s interesting what difference one year can make! :)

Mary (A Merry Life) December 28, 2010 at 11:10 pm

I love this post so so so much.

And I giggled all the way through the comments you made about your previous plan. ;)

bo December 28, 2010 at 11:19 pm

hi~ i have a question.. and i’m hoping you can give me an answer… :) the cla thing.. basically it’s a fat burner right?.. i was wondering which brand you use and if it’s beneficial to use.. i mean obvis your using it so it is.. right?.. ive been thinking for a while to try some but i dont know which brand would be good.

let me know if you can..

ps. love your blog.

janetha @ meals & moves December 29, 2010 at 12:03 am

CLA is not a fat burner… it does help with abdominal fat reduction but it doesn’t burn fat like a thermogenic. I always buy the GNC generic brand because it’s cheap! :)

Jenn (GH) December 28, 2010 at 11:59 pm

I totally remember when you were getting ready for Jamaica.

You know I don’t have any problems with people doing challenges like this every once in a while. I don’t instantly think it means they are “too hard” on themselves or “crazy”. Everyone is so different and some people thrive and truly love challenges finding them fun. (Ahem) I also don’t think it’s a big deal if someone wants to look and enjoy being super lean. It’s not me right now FOR SURE ;-) but I don’t assume someone who is really lean to necessarily be miserable b/c it is hard work. I’ve been on both sides and can honestly say I’m not happier one way or the other. Just different.

There are also a lot of reasons besides being lean that people avoid certain foods. For instance, I don’t eat cereal or pasta very often not b/c of the calories but b/c of the phytates. They interfere with the absorption of minerals. I also almost always eat full fat dairy despite the higher calories b/c I think it’s healthier. I dunno. I hate to sound like a contrarian but I think there are a lot of bloggers who make assumptions about others b/c their experience is different. I’m NOT saying you are doing this but reading some of the comments I wanted to offer a different perspective. Hope you don’t mind. :-)

I’m much more confident than I was last year. I also think I’ve actually been eating better lately almost avoiding all processed foods. I’ve not lost any weight but I know my immune system, blood chemistry, athletic performance is better b/c of it and to me THAT is what truly matters.

Gosh…I hope I don’t sound like a self righteous jerk. :-) Like I said, I just wanted to share a different perspective. I will say I agree with all the other commenters that I LOVE your blog too. See I love it so much I wrote you a book. :-D

Allie (Live Laugh Eat) December 29, 2010 at 12:31 am

“take documentation photos once a week”….NO

That made me laugh. No reasoning…just a “no.” Your new approach to eating/working out is really refreshing. It’s been interesting to see how you’ve adapted to living with Marshall. Seems like he’s helping you balance things out in a good way!

edenseats December 29, 2010 at 1:09 am

You. Are. Awesome.
This post reminded me why I love you (in that non creepy way). Its funny to look back at the way I was merely a year ago. And I totally want to work for your company. Even if I look like a whale in a bikini, I’d take it!
When I look in the mirror, I like that I can kind of see my mom and dad in me. It keeps my mom’s spirit alive a little when I notice how I have her cheekbones.
I dont really know how I’ve changed. physically, I’m “bigger” (not complaining, I’m still tiny just not super skinny). I actually think I’ve grown up a lot this past month since I’ve had to take care of my only parent when I’m so used to him taking care of me. I also found a grey hair….so yea, thats a change!

hayleycepeda December 29, 2010 at 6:36 am

I could not agree more with Lindsay – way to go J! I love reading your blog just as much, if not more, as when I first started. You write so well and always bring a smile to my face. I love that you’ve found such a healthy, balanced approach to life. It’s been a great year for you and I hope 2011 does the same! I have a feeling things will only get better. :)

Katy December 29, 2010 at 7:59 am

You said it better that I could have…but it’s a perfect reminder for all of us (ahem. me.)

The people who love us love us with bedhead and stinky breath; with lovehandles and junk in the trunk. They probably would NOT love us if we spent our time obsessing over 5 pounds at the expense of good meals, fun times and together time.

Jamaican me happy, sister!

lowandbhold December 29, 2010 at 8:22 am

I love, love, love this post! I’m so happy that you’re feeling that way now! It is so freeing, yes?

I was in the same boat last year, trying to get in perfect shape for a trip where I needed to impress absolutely no one. It was needless pressure. I don’t have a beach vacay this year (boo, first time in 3 years I won’t be going on one…) but even if I was I wouldn’t be worried about it. The beach is FUN! Who cares about what we look like. And honestly, we look damn good anyways :)

LOVE YOU!

MelissaNibbles December 29, 2010 at 8:29 am

Can I work where you work? I’m so jealous! Sounds like you have a great plan. I know you and I’ll know you’ll reach your goals.

this is EXACTLY where i am right now! in fact, this is kind of what i alluded to in my self-acceptance post, because that is what it is ALL ABOUT. if you are happy with yourself, you realize that you are not defined by your diet, body and how you look. those things are going to ebb and flow your whole life – dude, if i am not happy with my body now, i am going to be pissed in 30 years when it really goes to hell.

i think i’ve seen this exact same thing on susan’s blog, kailey’s blog, my own blog and now you. and i love it.

well, really, i love you, but you already knew that…

xoxo

I love reading your blog…I found it through reading other and feel that my blog reading has started to grow and I look forward to reading the ones that make me laugh and feel good but also educate and motivate.

Just a suggestion..try pronamel toothpaste..it rebuilds the enamel on the teeth to help with sensitivity by closing the pores in the teeth…what kind of whitening do you use? You have the whitest teeth ever!

When I look in the mirror I am usually not happy with what I see…but when I see my c-section scar it makes me smile…because of that, my baby girl was able to be born healthy and I am here to enjoy her.

I have changed so much this year…I graduated college in May, went back to work full-time and bought a car. After my seperation from my husband, almost 4 years ago, I never thought I would be where I am today. I am stronger and more confident then ever in my life.

thanks for the sweet comment! luckily i don’t have to use sensitive paste anymore (that part of the list was actually from last year). i just use the whitener from my dentist.. i have the trays that are molded to my mouth.

loved what you said about your C section scar!!!

i hate the “p” word too for underthings. gross and creepy. i’m glad to hear you are totally connected mind and body to a wonderful outlook on things. this past christmas was the first time in a while that i didn’t guilt myself for indulging in chocolates and eating 5 guys burgers and fries haha. it was refreshing! i finally love my body for exactly how it is at this very moment. i would love it even if i put on 5-10 more lbs. i’ve changed into a free-er person. i used to be such a control freak and well…lots of things happened this year in my life that i had no control over so i just had to deal or spiral. lucky for me i have a very supportive husband, friends and family!
