confessions are in bold.
enjoy!
if i didn’t have to go to work every day, i would wake up no earlier than 10 AM.
i struggle to wake up on time evvvvery day. i wish i could be hypnotized to be a morning person. maybe i could give the hypnotist from the movie “office space” a call. he seemed to know what he was doing.
i only took photos of one meal today.
my breakfast was an egg white scramble with mushrooms, onions and bell peppers. my afternoon snack was cottage cheese and a cookie. in case you wondered.
this was my lunch:
half of a turkey sandwich on wheat with avocado, mustard, tomatoes, olives, lettuce and sprouts.
such a waste of paper and plastic. and a waste of money. that bag of veggies? $2.15. and the sandwich? $3.49. lame. (but delicious, none the less.)
i can’t seem to find the motivation to take breakfast and lunch photos lately.
that is why they are lacking. i am sure my breakfast and lunch blogging spunk will return, but in case you wondered why i rarely blog about those meals these days.. that is why.
i have been eating out entirely too much lately.
breakfast AND lunch were both eaten out today. and this is a tilapia & quinoa salad from squatter’s brewery over the weekend. ![]()
while it is tasty, it isn’t good for my wallet or my waistline. or my sanity. eating out too much drives me crazy and i would rather do it for fun every so often rather than daily for convenience. plus i can feel the sodium pumping through my body and my fingers don’t like it. i need to get on top of meal planning and make a grocery store run. instead, i am blogging. go figure.
i have made three batches of cookies in the past week and have eaten well over 20 cookies myself.
batch #1: a failed attempt at mama pea’s balls.
they were still delicious.
batch #2: a successful attempt at mama pea’s balls.
they *somehow* slipped the camera’s eye (tricky cookies!) so i stole her photo. and while i debated not giving her credit, i guess i probably should ![]()
batch #3: holly’s vegan pumpkin molasses cookies. i made these last year. they are AMAZING. marshall requested them last night. i blame him.
i have eaten four already. since last night.
i am really not OK with the amount of sugar i have been consuming lately.
it started with the foodbuzz festival and it just never stopped. while everything has tasted great, have had really bad headaches mid-day and i have been grabbing sweets left and right. for me, that is a sure sign of too much sugar. i am throwing this out there for accountability sake, because maybe next time i will think twice about eating 5 cookies in an hour.
i didn’t go to the gym friday, saturday or sunday.
but guess what? i went today. and THAT, my friends, is all that matters.
20 minute HIIT on treadmill:
| minute # | speed MPH | intensity (1-10) |
| 1 | 6 | 4 |
| 2 | 6 | 5 |
| 3 | 6.5 | 6 |
| 4 | 7 | 7 |
| 5 | 7.5 | 8 |
| 6 | 8 | 9 |
| 7 | 6.5 | 6 |
| 8 | 7 | 7 |
| 9 | 7.5 | 8 |
| 10 | 8 | 9 |
| 11 | 6.5 | 6 |
| 12 | 7 | 7 |
| 13 | 7.5 | 8 |
| 14 | 8 | 9 |
| 15 | 6.5 | 6 |
| 16 | 7 | 7 |
| 17 | 7.5 | 8 |
| 18 | 8 | 9 |
| 19 | 9 | 10 |
| 20 | 6 | 5 |
i finished the workout off with 20 minutes at a 15% incline. i would walk at 3 MPH for 5 minutes and jog at 4 MPH for 2 minutes while reading my new issue of oxygen magazine.
total workout: 40 minutes max HR: 175 average HR: 145 calories burned: 310
that workout was harder than it should have been.
i haven’t been serious about working out lately. my leniency has shown through in my performance. the HIIT workout above is one i do all the time with ease. when it gave me a side ache today, i got a little discouraged and realized i need to focus on consistency so my cardiovascular health doesn’t suffer.
i skipped out on the jazz game tonight.
we had tickets to go to the game and i told marshall to take his grandpa. sure, it sounds like i was just giving up my ticket as a nice gesture.. but really, i just wanted to work out, blog, grocery shop and hang at home. plus, because marshall is at the game, i don’t have to watch monday night football. thankyouverymuch.
i will probably eat oatmeal for dinner.
i didn’t have it for breakfast today.. so i kind of miss it. and it is cold outside. that’s my logic. plus, it should keep me away from holly’s cookies. maybe.
my clothes are still in a heap on my bedroom floor.
but on the upside, my bed has clean sheets, my kitchen is spotless and my spare bedroom went from looking like this:
to this:
so progress has been made. but you may notice a huge heap of shoes in the middle of the floor.
yeah. about those. i need to get rid of them. size 6 for anyone who wants a pair! you pay for shipping and they are yours.
i registered marshall & myself for a turkey trot 5k on thanksgiving.
marshall doesn’t exactly work out. like, ever. and i haven’t run outside in months. this should be a treat!
(source.)
in other news, i decided to call my ex boyfriend because it is his birthday today. we dated for five or six years on and off. that’s the guy i owned mable with. we aren’t exactly friends but we keep in touch from time to time, so i called him. i try to be nice like that. his phone went to voicemail and so i decided to message his sister on facebook to have her wish him a happy birthday from me. well, long story short i discovered than he is in jail. again. for, like, the 80th time.
while that really doesn’t mean much to any of you.. it did cause me to do a lot of reflecting of my relationships passed.
and that brings me to my final confession of the night.
i am real glad i married marshall. mister right.

Totally hear you on the sugar overload! ME TOO. Oooof.
Janetha— are those black heel boots?? on the right side above the one black flip flop haha. If so they are too cute!!! email me and I’d pay shipping hehe =)
too bad I am a fewww sizes to large. I started BFL today. You are my inspiration. Hope I do well. I know I’m not supposed to chew gum on BFL, but I’m addicted. That’s my confession.
btw, such a cute picture of you and marshall :)
wait, what? i chewed sugar free trident through my whole challenge. good job on starting BFL!
Yeah, if gum is your worst vice in BFL then I’d say you were doing ok! :)
at least ur still blogging…i dont know how you find the time but thank God you do cuz I love your blog!! you have inspired me to get up and move and cook amazing foods!!
I am glad you have been inspired! i think YOU should start a blog :)
that is EXACTLY what my mama pea’s cookies turned out like.
shoot. how’d you make them work the second time around!?
it was the brand of PB. I asked Mama Pea what she used: Skippy. It made all the difference. Also, I let it sit in the fridge for longer and packed the balls tighter.
If you need to give away some cookies, I am your man ;)
Damn it to Hell…my feet are always too big(9s) hehe….You and Marshall look like a fabulous couple…gives me hope:-)cc
Love confessions posts :)
I’m like you with the pile of clothes, we could be roommates! If we weren’t already married…
My ex called me to tell me he’s getting a divorce. Um, okay… Thanks for the info. So glad I’m with Ben!
um. TMI. thanks, buddy. what a weirdo. yay for good husbands :)
Now sure if you are interested but you may want to check out http://www.soles4souls.org/, they are a non profit ordanization that helps raise money for people who needs shoes in different parts of the world. If you have enough people, you could host a shoe drive! It could be a fun little holiday project and I know I would send you some shoes :)
And yes, the only reason I am suggestiong this is because I am not a size 6. If I was, I would be on it like white on rice.
your last sentence cracked me up. “donate, because your shoes wont fit me” hahaha i LOVE you.
I have been eating out way too much lately too!!
It really is nice to just have the night to yourself to get things done and relax after a long day…I am doing the same thing right now! I think your cookies look delicious!
My confessions of the day…. I spent my entire prep time at school, when I had so much to do, blogging and on facebook. I have also single-handedly finished off an entire huge bag of sour patch kids in two days and now my teeth and tongue hurt bad.
Hahaha!!! That pile of shoes made me laugh out loud. I need to show my husband when he complains about all the shoes I own….. :)
My confession?? My husband is at his soccer game right now and I’m loving it. I never get the house to myself!
i know. i loved having the house to myself last night! it’s great.
I made a slighlty altered version of the balls with my elementary school students. They were mad I didn’t use more sugar. go figure.
My confession: I went to a top notch culinary school for over a year and my “homemade family secret” brownies are a boxed mix from william sonoma combined with half a bag of chocolate chips and topped with canned frosting.
Um…I’m a size 5.5 with a six potential!
I’ve been eating out way too much. Plus, I haven’t worked out since Thursday. In my defense, I went away for the weekend.
Confession: I’m nearly postal right now because Blogger ate a post I was doing that had about 3923575573833.5 links. I’m trying to just deep breath and not shake like a leaf.
Confession: I love popcorn more than should be allowed a human being.
Confession: I’m really awol from the electronic world but had to stop by and say I miss yoU! Did you ever try the protein muffins again? I wonder if the altitude has something to do with why Mama Pea’s balls fell down?
I love all of the honesty :) Writing things down always makes me accountable for what I want to change/do. What is it about sprouts on sandwiches that make them taste so darn good? And I never think to buy sprouts at the store. I want to make those pumpkin molasses cookies…. Oh ex boyfriends. We all have one (or more) thats just a real winner ;). Confession of the day- I ate eggs for breakfast and dinner
Confession – I ate a HUGE bowl of popcorn, a pomegranate, and kombucha for dinner. Carbs much? Pretty much the opposite of what I typically eat for dinner.
Oh and I didn’t workout.
Confession: I baked cookies yesterday afternoon and have eaten a lot of them (possibly one for breakfast this morning!).
Side note: sadly Miss Janetha, I fear the hypnotist from Office Space has gone on to that great work space in the sky. You’ll have to turn to a non-famous hypnotist and hope he doesn’t make you squawk like a chicken every time you type the word oatmeal. Although that would entertain me greatly, I fear it wouldn’t help you out much in the mornings. ;)
Your comment made me laugh so hard. And that is so random that the hypnotist passed away. More random that you knew that.
sister youve got a ton of shoes! im the worst morning person. i skipped class today so i could sleep in. i require like 20 hrs of sleep a day. im a sloth.
i heart you.
and those cookies.
but mostly you.
and if i lived in UT, i would come over and help you clean. that’s how much i love you.
yes, yes and YES on the sugar! I ate a mini Snickers bar, a mini box of nerds and a mini twix today randomly while grading papers. WHO AM I? I was just craving sugar. Now I have a stomachache and a headache. And I have calorie-guilt. I’m fine with it if it was worth it, but it so wasn’t. Bah!
That said, I want some of Mama Pea’s balls in my mouth right now. I made a batch and gave half to my mom. Andy and I plowed through the rest.
I’m glad you are with Mr. Right too. :) I had a similar revelation about my ex the other day and was so glad for Andy! My ex is a real class act. Ugh.
I love so much about the randomness of this post. I, too, am a pile person and a non morning person (even though I wish I was!) and have been slacking in the work-out department. Time to get back on track!
I’ve also had the worst sweet tooth the last week! I think that I’ll be making snickerdoodles tonight…
My confession – I made three batches of (different) cookies today. And I was so excited about them all day that I totally missed all of my class notes!
Hey, I wasn’t gonna be the one to point out how many cookies everyone’s been eating after FBF! That’s a buzzkill for sure. I made failed pumpkin bars instead and have been eating them slowly (but at least they’re sugar-free, gluten-free).
I used to be very into keeping in touch with my ex’s but it upset my husband so I just don’t anymore. It was easy to give up actually.
My confession is that I haven’t worked out as hard as you usually do in YEARS. That’s bad but I just can’t find the motivation. I blame not having a real schedule right now.
haha. buzzkill. witty tiff! but it’s true.. cookies everywhere! damn that annie the baker.
I feel you on the Mr. Right tip. I’m so grateful I found me a keeper.
Random: My casserole totally tastes better tonight. Yay for marrying flavors.
Confession: I’m a little anxious about a serious blog post I’m writing for tomorrow. It’s extremely near and dear to my heart though, so I’m doing it.
love it when leftovers taste better than the original! looking forward to your post.
Confession: I go to Whole Foods at least 3 times a week.
Confession: Today was the first day I went to the gym since last Thursday. C’est la vie!
um, my inner cookie monster is going to have a ball after reading this post. i havent taken dinner pics on the days ive worked for the past week or so…maybe we should combine our blogs and get a full day of eats documented, eh?
that’s a brilliant plan!
That last confession made me smile. It really did :)
xxx
Janetha…I’m a size 6. But I have no place to put any shoes at the moment…and I only have 4 pairs! hahaha! Those are a LOT of shoes, girl!
My confession: I ate half a whole chicken today. The costco rotisserie one.
The molasses cookies look great. I haven’t had those since I was a kid. You better not call that ex again. He’s bad news! My confession is I like the bad boys too ;)
I’m picturing you in a corner with a spotlight on you as you’re confessing :)
I ate an entire bag of blue chips this weekend in 3 serving…the bag is a 9 serving bag.
serving size shmerving size when it comes to chips!
We’ve been eating out more than normal too because not having my own kitchen makes cooking awful hard. But I just think it will all balance out when I get my dream kitchen in a few months. Ill never want to leave!
I do the Turkey Trot every year. Just the other day I realized I haven’t run outside in weeks. Oh well, it will be fun regardless.
PS- Im glad you married Marshall too! :)
My room often looks like that. Often.
confessions of a blogger is what keeps you real! Confessions, I buy those same bag of veggies that are ridiculously $$, why? Because I am too lazy to chop my own veggies. Sad…..but true. Oh and we had ice cream for lunch but that doesn’t matter if youre on vacation. hehe!
Confession – I’m actually looking forward to the movie burlesque. Wow, can’t believe I’m admitting that!
I’m usually an early riser, but with the cold weather I’ve been sleeping in a lot more. Pre-setting the coffee is the ONLY reason I get up on time!
All I can say is, “Breakfast for dinner is always a winner.”
Love this post! And I totally wish I was a size 6, because I would take ALL of your shoes! :)
Oh I must try those vegan cookies. Yum. I just happen to have some pumpkin to use from making a pumpkin pie cocktail on Saturday. Oh, and I do wear a size 6 shoe….
i loved this.
my confession of the day…. i went to ikea JUST for the frozen yogurt.
i mean, i got a couple things… but really it was all for the froyo. ;)
and i want shoesss!! i will definitely pay shipping :D
xo
I have some confessions:
1) I really want to make those vegan pumpkin molasses cookies but my hubby is a little weird when it comes to pumpkin. So I will probably make the Sparkled Ginger Cookies out of Vegan with a Vengeance cookbook and then sandwich PUMPKIN ICE CREAM between them. yeah, apparently he likes ice cream :-p – thats on the menu for Friday, a nice weekend treat for the hubs. Hopefully i can limit myself b/c I am doing really good with workingout/weight loss at the moment.
2) Today I ate last night’s leftover dinner (tortellini, sauce, garlic bread), for BREAKFAST instead of my LUNCH as planned. What can I say? I was craving it. That means LUNCH will be steel cut oats & chobani. hehehe.
3) I was REALLY REALLY tired last night but had to hold out until 11pm because we had guests, so when my 5am alarm went off, I unplugged the light, reset the alarm and slept in instead of going to the gym :( then I decided I would RUN tonight after work – then I realize it was RAINING, no running for me. so I guess I will be kicking back with an old school Cindy Crawford workout video.
it is what it is…..
Confession 1: I ate an entire BATCH of MamaPea’s pumpkin gingersnap cookies in 4 days. Rob ate TWO from the whole batch.
Confession 2: I’m mad at you for sharing Holly’s cookie recipe. ;)
And I seriously want some of your shoes. I’m a size 6!!! I need some cute flats. I like those herringbone slip-on ones. Any others you think I’d like??
I just recently discovered your blog through Allison at Green Dog Wine. I love it :) You are so honest, and that’s what I appreciate the most when reading blogs. I really want to do some of your HIIT workouts, but I have a stress fracture in my foot and I can’t run for a while. HIIT on the treadmill is my favorite and I miss is desperately :(
P.S. Good job on getting back in the gym after a few days off… the first day back is always challenging (mentally).
Carly, thanks for commenting! I hope your fracture heals quickly so you can get back to your fave type of workouts :) xo
For the past three weeks, I’ve developed a nasty habit of eating oreos after lunch everyday. We have a million oreos at work leftover from an event…now, 1 oreo a day is ok–I’ve been having about 5-6 oreos a day! Oops! :).
Yesterday, I brought some dark chocolate and had 2 squares of that isntead. A little better, gith ?:)
that’s what i need to do.. get my hands on some treats that are a little bit better than what i have been eating. good idea!
Just realized that I had about 5 million typo’s in that comment! sorry :)
UGH thank God I’m not the only one! :P
I have been eating WAY too many sweets and drinking a little bit too much lately and it’s making me feel uncomfortable! I’m trying to beat it BEFORE the holidays so that I don’t feel any worse for the new year. And it’s not because I don’t think we should all be able to indulge (believe me, I do) I just really don’t like the way it’s all making me feel! So i totally see where you’re coming from!
HIIT was a disaster for me tonight. Glad I did it BUT it was NOT easy! :/
I know EXACTLY what you mean!
::hugs:: you poured out a lot in that post! i hope it helped to deal with some of the underlying issues lingering. fall is always a really reflective time for me as well. if it helps, i’ve said i was gonna dust and sweet since last thursday night…hasn’t happened yet ;)
That was an awesome post…love it!
OK, confessions for the day…I might not get my workout in today so I can work and play golf tomorrow. But now that I wrote this, there is a good chance that I will do the workout and push work off till later today. I better because yesterday’s workout wasn’t so hot;-(
Those cookies looked rockin! The sandwich…MMMM…getting hungry;-)
love, love, LOVE this.
confession: have a million other things to be doing, but I’m readying blogs instead :) I get the same way with sugar, once I start I can’t stop, so I really try not to start at all because it is a serious downward spiral! The girl on the cover of the new oxygen went to my high school, small world! Love your attitude about the stuff you did and didn’t do, because you are not hard on yourself- you take it in, accept it and move on. And it shows how much you appreciate the things that do matter in life most, like having an amazing husband to share life with!
Foodbuzz and Halloween combined, plus a giant bag of jelly beans in my office, had me on a sugar HIGGHH that was hard to get off. Currently detoxing and all I want is cookies. Damnit.
Yes, Foodbuzz REALLY threw me for a loop! Here’s to detox!
i confess i’m watching gossip girl on dvr now and i really want chuck and blair back together. but i have to wonder why i even care!
great post! friday i gave away my basketball tickets too – just so i could do chores around the house ;D oh the price of growing up!
my confession:
i love shopping waaaaaay toooooo muuuuuuch! so to abate my addiction i’m going on a spree for charity christmas gifts today! it’s save $10 when u spend $25 @ macy’s today. can’t resist the urge to splurge.
63 comments before mine and only TWO 6’s amongst us? SHORTIES UNITE!!! :D
i have plenty of shoes but I’d love that pair of camo flip flops! or maybe a pair of skate shoes…..
