hello and welcome to saturday!
i am not a happy camper this morning. or last night, for that matter. i was supposed to go to a concert with marshall, but i have something wrong with my eyes! first the stye and now this mystery problem.
i went to the eye doc on monday about my stye. i had my eyes dilated and i have been careful to take my contacts out every night since then (i used to take them out once a month, max.) well, yesterday, both of my eyes were super red and hurt way bad. so bad to the point where i couldn’t leave the house and my poor husband went to the concert alone. i thought i could sleep it off, but this morning they are just as bad! i am going into the doc in an hour to see WTF.
although i am trying to keep my eyes closed as much as possible, i did manage to make a tasty yogurt bowl for breakfast. even blind people have to eat.
3/4 cup oikos, handful of nature’s indulgence vanilla nut granola, one trader joe’s high fiber blueberry muffin & a huge spoonful of justin’s maple almond butter!

i am going to go get dressed so i can head to the eye doc. i hope they can fix me!
because it is saturday and saturdays are for fun, i thought i would post some fast food ad vs. the real thing comparisons. i don’t eat fast food but i got a huge kick out of this webpage.
i don’t eat fast food because it makes me feel sick. i used to eat it daily and then when i did the BFL challenge and tried to eat fast food on my free day, i threw up. that told me something about the ingredients i was putting into my body.
the comparison below is total false advertising. the ad photos on the left look way more appetizing than the real deal. i wonder how many beef & cheddars arby’s would sell if their ad showcased what you actually get?

pretty crazy, right? i think it is pathetic, really. fast food companies make their menu items appear so appetizing to the public. and it works! especially for kids, who don’t know any better. maybe some of you like fast food and don’t agree with my opinion.. but the comparison above is still pretty amusing. obviously the fast food companies are not going to showcase what the food actually looks like, but it would be more comforting if the real thing resembled the ad a bit more closely, no?
i gotta stop looking at a computer screen! i am an idiot. off to get my eyes fixed.

2. what kind of doctor do you hate going to the most? and the least? it should go without saying, the girl doc is my least fave. but i LOVE going to the dentist! call me crazy! the eye doctor doesn’t bother me much, but i hate when they shoot that poof of air into your eye.

Ah I hate eye problems. I have contacts/glasses and I hate going to the eye dr more than the dentist. Maybe the used something different to dilate and you were allergic?? I hope it clears up!
If by fast food you mean stuff like what’s above, then at most I eat french fries from places. I do eat In-N-Out without the burger on it, but they’re in a league of their own, really. I agree that when I DO eat that stuff (like on a road trip with limited food options) I pretty much instantly feel sick to my stomach.
Oh no my love. It sounds like you have an infection. This happened to me before and I can tell just from your symptoms that there is something going on. PLEASE don’t wear your contacts. Throw them out. The doc should give you steroid drops that will clear it up fast, but in the meantime, rest your eyes girl.

Hope you get better soon! Yep, sounds like an allergy or infection. Hopefully they can just fix it with drops. At least you have two more days of the awesome weekend!
I absolutely love going to the dentist too! But that’s because they always pat me on the back and tell me I have great teeth. It would be a different story if I needed stuff done ever.
I’ve seen that website about the fast food ads before and it kind of disgusts and repulses me but it doesn’t surprise me in the least. I wonder how gullible some people are because anyone who has ever eaten at a fast food joint knows that what they are going to get is not going to look anything like those delectable ads. GRR.
By the way, FF also makes me feel super sick :(

ughhhhhhhhh i HATE eye problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously i woke up with the worst eye allergy attack today AAGAIN! seriously they’re life ruining, like especially when you have to wear your sunglasses OVER your glasses when driving. ugh i feel for you and hope to the good lord of eyes that you get fixed pronto!
The real deal pictures always look so nasty. I do eat some fast food but it is a pretty rare occasion. I prefer other things.
And I’m actually opposite of you. The girly doctor doesn’t bother me at all but I HATE HATE HATE the dentist.

Fast food is so gross and these pictures are proof. Blah. I used to eat it a lot in high school but it started making me really sick.
I love the dentist too! I always look forward to it. The lady doctor not so much though. Horrible.
I do not eat any fast-food at all; yuck! Well, other than Chipotle…
As for eyes, well I had lazer eye surgery 3 years ago now and still have minor problems; i.e see halos at night around bright lights, so night driving is not fun. Being a visual person, my eyes are so important!

In one of my classes, we were learning about food styling and we went to that website and saw those photos. Most of those pics have food with glue/tacks/dye all over them (gross?!) I’d say the Arby’s sandwich is the biggest let-down haha
Whoa, some of those comparison shots are pretty crazy! I don’t really eat fast food (does Subway count?), so I can’t say I’ve ever really thought about this topic before.
I hate the girl doc with a passion–to the point of taking Benadryl before appointments to chill myself out. I like the dentist too actually–I leave the office feeling so squeaky clean! Never been to an eye doctor–is that bad?

I’d like to say no, I never eat fast food. But road trips happen. So the only fast food I do eat, which is once in a million years, are Wendy’s chicken nuggets and a kiddie sized frosty. And do I feel good after? Nope, never. But other than that? Yuck, no way.
Not a fan of the dentist. Totally freaks me out!

all that stuff if quite gross. the grossest thing, though, is that once my friend left one of the KFC bowls in my room and we didn’t know until we found it a couple of weeks later. there was no mold. no stench. nothing. it looked exactly the same as when she last ate it. and that’s when i stopped eating fast food.

hahah those fast food real vs fake pics-ive seen those before and they ALL look gross (to me of course) I hate fast food blehhh it always messes with my tummy!
is that costa rican coffee CAFE BRITT?? because if it is thats my uncles :) mmm costa rican coffee is so so good!! it has to do with the elevation of the soil where the beans grow and its always delicious!

ugh, i’m so sorry! :| i’ve never had any major eye issues, but just being sick in general and not do the things you could do otherwise suuuuckks. And those pictures are so interesting! I can’t stand fast food, i don’t even feel like it’s REAL food. it’s just….stuff. wearing a costume. that looks like what most people would recognize as food. anyway. hope you feel better soon! :D
Sorry about your eyes. I think food styling is used in a lot of places besides fast food. But people don’t go to McDonald’s for the way the food looks anyway. And I think kids care even less about the look- I mean they love nuggets which don’t even look like any form of food no matter how good the picture is.
No fast food for me!..anymore. I used to LOVE nacho bell grandes.
I hate the girl doc too. Drs. in general because they really don’t know what my problems are. They just give me tylenol and tell me it will help.
ugh, sorry about the eye problems…can’t be fun thats for sure! I definitely hate going to eye exam checkups..I’m with ya; I would MUCH rather be at the dentist. Sit in comfy reclining chairs, watch a little t.v., leave with nice clean pearly whites. Sounds like a party to me!
So funny you would bring up false food advertising today, b/c we were at a mexican restaurant for lunch and I ordered their mexican corn chowder because it looked so good… well, it came out and looked NOTHING like the picture. I was disappointed.
I love going to the dentist too!! I used to hate going to the girl doctor too… the only reason I actually love going now is b/c it’s such a relief to find out how my baby is doing. I do hate when they draw blood though… that is no fun. And next appt will be yucky b/c I have to drink a sugary drink to do the blood glucose testing for gestational diabetes… no fun…

I’m sorry to hear about your eyes!! Eye issues are THE WORST! A few months back I got pink eye and I was SO sad. No contacts for WEEKS. UGH. :l It took so long to clear up. I hope you feel better soon friend !
I have to say… I can’t remember the last thing (or when) I ate from a fast food place. If I do have fast food, my preference will always be an In N Out burger and a chocolate shake ;D I find that even though I do like the taste of fast food (sorry, but I do), it makes me feel sick & gross for hours after I eat it… sometimes even the next day.
My least fav doc is of course the girl doc. HAAAAAAAAAAAATE that place! My fav doc is the dentist. I LOVE getting my teeth cleaned bc I’m OCD like that. I’m actuallt trying to get my insurance to cover me every 4 months and not 6 HAHA! I have also never had a cavity or had any work done in my mouth, so that probably helps.
holy CRAP that puff of air into your eyes is the absolute worse thing ever.
So sorry about your eye! I hate when they dialate my eyes! Yuck! I have tried contacts but I just can’t do them. That being said, I love funky framed eyeglasses! Bet you would awesome in a cool pair!
Fast food…I eat it every now and then and no, I do not like it! Yuck! Culver’s burgers and fries would be my favorite but I can’t handle anything else. I feel sick after eating any other fast food. And really, making your own sandwich is just as fast, you know? :) Feel better soon! Oh, and I hate the dentist most of all. I have sensitive gums and going to the dentist is torture to me but I can say, I am 30 and have never had a cavity! (knocks on wood for luck!)
I don’t eat fast food, except a mcflurry once or twice a month. I cannot bring myself to eat that crap, even though I believe there are no “bad foods” just everything in moderation. I love those comparisions you posted, really proves how big companys false advertise.
As for my eyes, I have never *knock on wood* had a problem with them!

Love the comparison of the ads and real deal. I do notice it never looks as nice, but I never thought about how disgusting some of the real food actually looks… I’m looking at you Nacho Bell Grande–I used to eat this ALL THE TIME in high school. I don’t think I could now.
I only eat fast food on occassion, but I find the ad vs. reality comparisons to be eye-opening. It really shows that what is being advertised is not exactly what you are getting when you order it. Not only are we surrounded by airbrushed models in the media, but we must also be subjected to airbrushed food!
Noooo fast food for me. Ever. Can’t remember when I had it last.
And no doctor is a fun doctor for me! I’m a nurse and despise going to doctors. I’m more of a home-remedy kind of girl, and will only go if I reallllllllllllllllllly really need to. Like if I was profusely bleeding hehe
I hate fast food. I cannot stand it and I always feel horrible if I ever have to eat it. I also think it is shocking that the food looks so horrible compared to the styled food. I think my least favorite doctor to go to is my hemotologist. I hate going because they always take so much blood and once a month I have to go in to get transfusions. It sucks and I hate it. My favorite doctor to go to is probably my medical doctor. :)

google eyebright herb. you should take some, can’t hurt, may help support your body. also make sure you are good with zinc, Vitamin C, as those are important to support healing, as is rest. Sorry to be such a mom :) Im worried about you!

Oh gosh. Poor, poor darling Janetha. I’m so sorry about the eye prblem. I’ve been there before (note: hydrogen peroxide in both eyes and rushed screaming to the ER) and it’s NOT fun.
I had to LOVE how you transitioned your little “eye sore” to a metaphorical eye-sore, though. I do like fast food, I have to admit. Just certain kinds though. Like a Whopper sometimes can be SO tasty. And chicken McNuggets. HATE Taco Bell though. And…I actually think the Wendy’s burger looks pretty decent! Must be all that cheese…damn it, gets me every time.
Would you go for the dentist for me!? I cant stand the dentist, I cant stand that cotton they stick in your mouth! the only doctor I like is dr.pepper (and the diet one at that). I havent been to a fast food joint in years! all those “real” photos just looked like a truck ran over them or something, they looked a little, flat.

sorry about your eye problem. I’ve had that problem once and it was infection caused by too much use of contacts. For 48 hours I was contact free and had to poor a liquid EVERY HOUR for 24 hours.. it was crazy but it worked.

I don’t eat fast food. Like at all. It just has absolutely no appeal to me.
I hate the dentist because I have TMJ (jaw problem) and every time I go, my jaw aches for hours afterward, especially if I have to keep my mouth open for a long time like if I have a cavity.

eek, i hope your eye is ok! glad you could get an appointment on saturday though. my least fav is the dentist, ever since i had to change from the one i had all my childhood… especially when one nicked my nerve drilling and caused me to get a root canal.
I can’t remember the last time I had fast food. Every once in a while I might do Subway in a pinch. But mostly I just cook/bring my own snacks — healthier, safer, cheaper. I think they do a lot of false advertising.

I eat fast food ONCE in a while, mainly when I have no other option, and I always try to make the best choice I can. I don’t remember the last time I got any kind of hamburger type meal from a fast food joint. Those comparisons are just straight up disturbing though, in a hilarious kind of way. The food looks SO pathetic and SO unappetizing… I don’t know how people can eat that regularly and not be grossed out just looking at it!
Oh god that damn air poof. No matter how much I try not to jump, I always jump.
I hope your eye is finally feeling better!! Those comparisons are crazy…yet another reason I don’t eat fast food!! McD’s/Wendy’s fries are the only thing I still eat occasionally. I feel like there are so many foods that just taste way better!!

OH YAY! You got the mugs :) I thought they’re so freaking cute!!
I had an eye issue, and it turned out that i’d developed an allergy to my certain brand of contacts, so when i switched brands, it was ok. That, coupled with allergies made for a bad summer one year!
Fast food grosses me out these days, so I don’t eat it. The grease factor is just a huge turn off.
