in meals

more on my title in a moment.

thanks for all the supportive comments that came in from my rambling about body image and weight. you ladies all had great things to say! in case you missed it and are looking for an inspirational boost about your body.. check out the comments section of my last post. wise women in blog land :)

today has been a productive wednesday. waffleless, unfortunately, but still a good day. it got off to a rocky start when my morning was so hectic that i couldn’t make my breakfast. i hate those mornings! instead, i sucked down the iced coffee that marshall brought me:

IMG_6401 around 10 AM i was able to sneak away and make some oatmeal!

meal 1: maple cinnamon protein custard oats @ 10:30 AM IMG_6412 yes, that is a bowl of oatmeal that has five words in the title. come on, each word was important to the bowl! IMG_6419 maple: in the form of chemicals. i really love this sugar free syrup and, when used in moderation, it is a nice way to sweeten up a breakfast.

cinnamon: this one goes without saying. i probably dumped close to 1 TB in there while cooking the oats…

protein: one (30g) serving of EAS premium protein powder (thanks christin!)

custard: oh this is a new word for my oatmeal bowls, now isn’t it?! i finally tried stirring a whole egg into my oats at the end of the cooking process like i have seen susan and tay do.

oats: 1/3 cup dry, old fashioned quaker oats. IMG_6409IMG_6411 the whole egg made the oats plump up and they became so voluminous! and they also were much creamier than my typical bowl of oats. try this method, i promise it will not let you down! IMG_6421 since my breakfast was eaten later this obviously led to a later lunch. i hate it when lunch time is thrown off because by noon i need a break from work, but when noon came today i just wasn’t hungry. so i plugged along with my daily tasks and when my stomach started to grumble i decided to head to the kitchen and whip up some food.

meal 2: meatball wrap + mini bell peppers @ 1:45 PM IMG_6433 i am happy to say i still haven’t gone to the grocery store! i am going to try to eat my way through my freezer and what is left in my fridge before i move. of course, i will have to by the essential items like almond milk, eggs and greens. but i have so much frozen fruit, veggies and protein that i could eat for quite awhile without making a trip to the store! two of the components from today’s lunch came from my freezer: the meatballs and the flat out wrap. IMG_6442 this was 1 flat out wrap layered with 1 wedge of laughing cow light cheese, a big glob of sabra brand garlic hummus, spinach and four spinach & fontina chicken meatballs (from costco). IMG_6430 hummus and laughing cow are a match made it condiment heaven!! IMG_6429 all wrapped up. IMG_6445 served alongside my favorite thing to crunch and munch on. i could eat a bag (costco sized, mind you) of these daily! IMG_6446 now more about my title.

while eating this delicious lunch, i checked my personal email. if you subscribe to health.com newsletters, you probably saw the article about “10 fat-burning carbs”. i was quick to click on this article because i always love learning more about the “good kinds” of carbs, as i know it can be a little confusing to determine which carbs are best to fuel our bodies. not going to lie, the glycemic index baffles me and the terms simple and complex are often interchanged in my brain and i forget which carb belongs to which group.

anyway. thought this article was interesting and wanted to talk about it! before i mention the 10 foods in the article, i must preface by saying that health.com talks about something called “resistance starch”, which, essentially, means the carbs that fill you up and keep you full. from the health.com website:

When we talk about the right kind of carbs, we mean Resistant Starch. Hundreds of studies conducted at respected universities and research centers have shown Resistant Starch helps you eat less, burn more calories, feel more energized and less stressed, and lower cholesterol.

so. resistance starch. now we know what they mean by this. that is important because the 10 foods they listed as “fat-burning carbs” give the “resistance starch grams for each serving. the author states that she aims to get 10-15 grams of resistance starch daily.

onto the list of ten! RSG=resistance starch grams

  • bananas: 1 medium (~7”) banana = 4.7 RSG
  • oatmeal: 1/2 cup (uncooked) serving = 4.6 RSG
  • white beans: 1/2 cup serving = 3.8 RSG
  • lentils: 1/2 cup serving =3.4 RSG
  • potatoes: one (2.5” diameter) potato = 3.2 RSG
  • plantains: 1/2 cup serving = 2.7 RSG
  • garbanzo beans: 1/2 cup serving = 2.1 RSG
  • pearl barley: 1/2 cup serving = 1.9 RSG
  • whole wheat pasta: 1 cup (cooked) serving = 2 RSG
  • brown rice: 1/2 cup serving = 1.7 RSG

the article talks about each food in detail and even offers links to recipes that incorporate each food! see it here. [source.]

i think this list was awesome and i couldn’t agree with it more! of the ten “fat-burning carbs”, i regularly eat all of them except plantains, lentils and pearl barley. i love plantains and lentils and eat them occasionally. the one item i haven’t tried is pearl barley, but i know i should. i have seen it around and it looks excellent. i am a big advocate of eating a balance of carbs, protein and fat. i think that you need a little of all 3 in order to function properly. heavy protein diets wear me down and cause a lack of energy and heavy carb diets would blow me up like a balloon. with that said, i am also a big advocate of fueling my body with the right types of food, carbs included. this list of 10 foods is awesome. i like to get my carbs from the foods they mentioned along with fruits & veggies.

meal 3: fruity protein smoothie @ 4:45 PM

IMG_6453

  • 1 cup almond milk (i use unsweetened vanilla almond breeze)
  • 1 chunk frozen cantaloupe
  • ~5 frozen green grapes
  • 2 frozen strawberries
  • 30g vanilla protein powder

on-the-go!

errands consisted of checking out some shoes for the wedding (i have wide feet and my dumb toes hang off 99% of flip flops out there) and i ended up finding these:IMG_6479

yes they are etnies flip flops and yes i am wearing them for my wedding. and yes they were $17. function over fashion, folks.

and i also picked up my dress (!!!) no photo, obviously, but it looks great! all hemmed and ready to go.

my bridal photos are on tuesday so these were very important errands.  unfortunately, these errands ended up taking until 7 PM due to unforseen circumstances. sigh. this meant i had to nix my workout. oh well, life happenings are way more important right now!!

however, i had promised you guys some new moves photos.. so, sorry, those will have to wait!

after my errands i was planning to head to the house to help with the renovations.  everyone working was hungry so i picked up paradise bakery for all!

IMG_6461

we dined on the lawn since the kitchen is torn apart ;)

IMG_6465

i went with a garden salad with chicken + fat free poppyseed dressing:

IMG_6469IMG_6471IMG_6472

this wasn’t anything to write home about. meh. i hate spending money on sub-par food.

this is the man who holds the fate of my house renovations in his hands. my brother has his own tile company (anyone local need tile? let me know.) and i hired him to renovate both bathrooms, the kitchen and all the floors.

the brother, doug:

IMG_6475

pretty sure right there he was talking about how he doesn’t understand how people can just eat a salad as their dinner. he said he “just doesn’t get it”..haha! momma b and i defended the salad’s honor, not to worry!IMG_6476

the (tired) happy couple! IMG_6477

he is so handsome! even when painting :)

IMG_6480

hard at work! oh look! a special guest appearance by daddy b!IMG_6482

my mom and i worked hard on assembling the bathroom vanity. gotta love IKEA assembly adventures, eh?

IMG_6483 IMG_6484 IMG_6485

and doug got to work on tearing out the old vanity..

IMG_6488IMG_6489

and this princess stood around and looked adorable! IMG_6491

marshall broke the ceiling fan light.. but it’s ok, we are replacing it anyway.

IMG_6495

my sis in law’s mom, shelly, worked so hard today and tonight on painting my master bath and bedroom. she’s an awesome painter!

new paint is on top. it is more green than how the photo came out. we still have to paint the bottom part!

without flash:

IMG_6499

with flash:IMG_6501

yeah. it is definitely more green in person.

doug managed to get quite a bit done in the bathroom for one night of work. can’t wait to see the finished product!

IMG_6504

oh house, i cannot wait for you to be done. so i can live in you.

i sat down to blog at 11:30 PM (because i am addicted) and had this lovely banana nut vitatop + dark chocolate dreams PB as a midnight snack.

IMG_6515

and marshall made me a cup-o-tea in my J mug :)

IMG_6511

tomorrow is guest post thursday! so i will be back for flashback friday!

Qs~

1. how many of the 10 “fat-burning carbs” listed above do you eat on a regular basis? 7/10 for me. plantains, lentils and pearl barley are the 3 missing.

2. what’s in your freezer right now? in addition to the meatballs & flat outs, i have a stockpile of vitatops, chicken breast, ground turkey, leftover fruit from sunday dinner @ mom’s that i froze, a bag of costco normandy style vegetables, a bag of costco green beans, freezer-burned ice cream birthday cake that i won’t eat and two big bags of peas that i use to ice my ankles/knees after running.

maria @ Chasing the Now June 23, 2010 at 11:31 pm

Our freezer is always shoved full of stuff because it’s so tiny. Right now it’s got frozen veggies, some tortillas and pitas, homemade pizza dough and bread in it.

paijery June 23, 2010 at 11:48 pm

Awww Janetha you are so pretty :)

I am 9/10 girl. I’m missing some white beans! My freezer is stocked with Mountain wraps, strawberries, Saskatoon berries, bananas, blueberries, fish, chili, bread, rice crispy treats and chocolate.

MelissaNibbles June 24, 2010 at 2:45 am

Wow. I eat 9 out of 10 on that list. I’ve never had pearl barley.

The house looks great and like a fun bonding time for you, Marshall, and your fam. Thanks for sharing the process with us!

We have organism samples in our freezer right now. We both work in biological testing labs and it’s work we’ve had to bring home because we go to different labs sometimes and have to bring our specimens with us for testing. Sounds so gross when you think about it. Hahahaha!

Anne June 24, 2010 at 3:11 am

Hahaha, that Ikea picture is right out of my own book :-). The house will be so beautiful!

My freezer is petite, tiny, too small. I have some maca and mesquite, some frozen fruit, ice cream for the bf, some botched attempted ice cream of mine, nothing else and it’s FULL :-(. How do I live like this? Oooh, I forgot: about five strawberry protein muffins. But still, must get proper freezer.

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is June 24, 2010 at 3:38 am

I love Vita’s. I actually have 4 boxes of those in my freezer right now!

Lauren June 24, 2010 at 3:44 am

Haha okay, when I first saw the title I thought it said “crabtastic” and then when I finished reading i was thinking “huh, what does this have to do with crabs?” HAHAHA Oh my goodness, I apparently need more coffee!

ANyways, I think the list is great. I hate when people say, I wont eat a banana because there are too many calories? seriously, those calories are what is going to help you loose weight!!!! But they will gladly eat a sugar free chemically induced granola bar and call that healthy. Weird!

Okay lady, love that you are having a good week!!! The house is coming along great! Keep working hard girl, it’s all going to pay off soon.
Love to you!!! X0X0

April June 24, 2010 at 4:08 am

Now I really understand your FB post.

Chalk me up for a 1 out of 10 hmmm….

In my freezer, bag of frozen chicken(mike), frozen turkey, lots of veggies, chicken patties(mike),a Kong with ANPB in it(Boomer).

That’s a great trick btw. If you freeze the PB it takes them twice the time to lick it out. Well, maybe not with Randy’s big ol’ tongue ;)

Erica June 24, 2010 at 4:30 am

That last picture of Marshall is awesome! Kind of artistic- shows what a happy person he is :) I really need to have a cleaning out the fridge/freezer/cabinets week myself. The house is really coming together. Love the tiles. And dinner on the lawn sounds fun. I’m hitting about 7/10 on the “good carb” list as well! Although I think information like this is good/helpful…I’m still on the everything in moderation train :) Sometimes I just want some bad carbs haha. Whats in my freezer? Tons of vegetables, some hamburgers & steaks for the man, frozen TJs eggplant parm (which I still haven’t tried yet!) and ice cream ;)

Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) June 24, 2010 at 4:47 am

Interesting article! I learned about resistance carbs in school, but never really put much thought into them!

I eat 8/10 on a regular basis… not so much plantains and pearl barley, although I do love both!

And oh, boy my freezer… about 3 huge tubs of frozen soup/chili, bread, english muffins, frozen waffles, vitatops, 3 bags of frozen fruit, 1 bag of frozen shrimp, some leftover home made gnocchi, girl scout cookies, veggie burgers… and whew. I think that about covers it!

I LOVE your wedding shoes… I am wearing flip flops as well! It’s outside, heels just will not do :P

xo

Lauren @ eater not a runner June 24, 2010 at 5:14 am

I have the same three missing as you! I bet pearled barley is awesome though

hayleycepeda June 24, 2010 at 5:40 am

I KNEW there was something from Costco I’d forgotten to buy the other day! The meat (chicken?) balls!! Sigh…oh well – next time! I went in there to buy paper towels and came out with $150 worth of stuff. How does that happen?!

I am SO SO SO SO excited to see you in your dress? Any chance you can email some of us pictures? :) Maybe when you get your bridal portraits back..that is so exciting!

Your house is coming along great! I LOVE the paint job!

What is in my freezer..hmm…good question! Some frozen Smart Ones (emergencies), fish, vegetables, Ezekial bread and English muffins, bananas, lean ground turkey breast, flaxseeds, corn, peas, onions, and a bunch of other stuff that I should probably use up someday soon before it gets freezer burn! Teehee..

Heather (Where's the Beach) June 24, 2010 at 6:02 am

Hey girl – thanks for sharing that article. I pretty much eat all of them but the plantains. Rice would be the lowest one for me as I’m not a big rice fan. I can’t wait to see the end results of your remodel. I think that’s so exciting. My freezer is jam packed with frozen veggies, frozen fruit and homemade veggie burgers (a variety).

Lori (Finding Radiance) June 24, 2010 at 6:07 am

Your house is looking great!

I eat all of those carbs except white beans. I just am not a big bean fan, although I try.

My freezer has 2 three-pound bags of Wymann’s blueberries, which takes up half the freezer :D
Also frozen broccoli florets and a bunch of frozen meat.

runningaroundnormal June 24, 2010 at 6:18 am

The progress is coming along! You’re so lucky to have a whole team to help you out! I don’t know how you get so much done in a day, girl!

Brandi June 24, 2010 at 6:28 am

the house is going to be awesome! how cool that you have him doing your tile. I can’t wait to see the final pictures! And your dress! Love the flip flops :)

My bridesmaids ended up walking barefoot in our wedding – last minute decision that turned out perfect.

Therese June 24, 2010 at 6:32 am

To be honest I only ever eat oatmeal and bananas on the regular…I suppose I could branch out!!!

You are soooo smart to just get all the word done with your house right away, because take it from me, if you leave it until after you move in it will never get done!

Oh man only things in my freezer right now=frozen broccoli, 2 pieces flounder from ages ago, ice packs, and vodka. For reals.

Marissa June 24, 2010 at 6:38 am

House renovation is stressful! I’m just thankful we’re not doing anything as extreme as you are with your house. I hope it turns just the way you want it! I eat… none of those starches on a regular basis! Actually, I don’t eat any “carbs” on a regular basis… but your oatmeal looks so delicious today that I might have to change that! In my freezer right now I have frozen waffles (for little bro), frozen fruit and veg, nuts, protein fudgesicles, Cool Whip, and chicken breasts.

Graze With Me June 24, 2010 at 6:39 am

I’m all about the custard oats when I have time to make them. Although I whisk the egg in right off them bat cause I’m scurred of not cooking it enough!

I can’t wait to see your finished house, I love moving into a brand new place that I can completely customize. Being a home-owner is SO much more fun than renting.

I’m with you on those foods. I’ve never tried plantains or pearl barley…and lentils aren’t a staple in my kitchen.

homecookedem June 24, 2010 at 6:44 am

I’m 9 out of 10 – well at least I was before pregnancy (bananas sound awful to me right now). The only thing on that list I haven’t eaten is pearl barley. Janetha you really need to pick up a plantain and then fry it up as a special treat sometime. Then sprinkle a little brown sugar on top…omg, it will change your life!! :)

All of the renovations and hard work on a house is so exhausting, but SOOO rewarding!! Just think how comfy and cozy and perfect it’ll be by Christmas time!! :) Awww, I’m so happy for yall!! :)

Elina (Healthy and Sane) June 24, 2010 at 6:52 am

Hehe, that IKEA assembly pic made me laugh. Last night we were at a restaurant and one waitress told us that the cannolis were homemade. I didn’t really trust her so I asked a different waitress and she said nothing was but the cannoli filling is bought locally. That means they stuff them at the restaurant. Adam and I were joking that assembly doesn’t mean “homemade”… just like I would say our bedroom set (from Ikea) was homemade. lol
Carbs – I am with you – 7/10 – exactly the same ones :)
Freezer – waaaaay too much stuff to list. Lots of nuts, I’ll say that!

Darryn June 24, 2010 at 6:52 am

Funny enough, I’ve been having some stomach issues lately and I consulted my mom for advice, and you know what she said? “You need more CARBS!” Haha. I’m not sure if her theory will turn out to be correct, but I’m going to give it a shot! :) So this post couldn’t have come at a better time. As for the list, I eat 8/10…but I’m not sure how often would be considered “regularly? Ie. maybe once a month? Maybe that’s not so regular…. :S

House looks like it’s coming along great!

Elina (Healthy and Sane) June 24, 2010 at 6:55 am

Oh and I hope at least someone had the Paradise bakery cookies. They are THE BEST!

Maren June 24, 2010 at 7:07 am

Your house is moving along quickly! Can’t wait to see the finished product! (I’m sure you can’t either) I LOVE paradise. We have one walking-distance away. Their coffee is awesome! I only eat about half of the items on the list. I HATE bananas. I don’t like potatoes (you probably just gasped). I just recently started liking beans, but LOVE garbanzos! Since I live in my bfs parents basement, a lot of the food is random meat that Nate’s dad buys. haha he’s a grocery shopping fanatic! About all I have in there is some frozen fruit, fish, and veggie burgers!

lisaou11 June 24, 2010 at 7:33 am

ya know, one thing I’ve never enjoyed is protein oats. I tried adn tried to like em and I just can’t. Maybe I make them wrong–prob not though. Honestly, I’m just not the biggest fan of oats.

I eat about 5 out of 10 on a regular basis! Not bad!

House is looking GREAT!

Talia June 24, 2010 at 7:40 am

VITATOPS! So good I feel like I’m having an affair with my food! HA! :)

Carbzilla June 24, 2010 at 8:00 am

You are a superstar! I seriously don’t know how you fit this all in right now.

Anyhoo, I eat everything but bananas. I can only eat them at night, if at all, because they cause my blood sugar to spike. I’m not a big fan of white beans but I have a kale/tomato soup recipe that includes them. Good way to fit them in. For me, they’re all texture and no taste. Gimme a black bean any day!

jqlee June 24, 2010 at 8:15 am

you are going to have a beautiful house once it’s all done. i can already see some of it coming together so nicely!!

i had the exact same midnight snack too! banana nut rocks!

mom June 24, 2010 at 8:53 am

Hola! Finally a comment, I really did try to post a comment in CR but couldn’t find the @ sign on the keyboard (boy what a lame excuse haha!)

I LOVE the sharpness of all the photos and I really LOVE that last one with Marshall’s smile, what a handsome and NICE guy!!

Glad we can band or bond together and get the home ready for the happy couple, not to worry, we will get it finished :)

I eat most of the same carbs on that list as you, think I’ll go snag a banana right now! Well now that I have such a tiny freezer I can actually take inventory – chicken, edamame, berries, ice, ice pack, ice cream (dad’s) pretty boring!

Love you to the moon and glad to be back to almost normal (whatever that is) xoxoxo

kristastes June 24, 2010 at 9:02 am

I am totally wearing flips if I ever get married!!!! Good call!!

I just read your body image post and good for you…throw out the scale! I don’t own one because #’s mean absolutely nothing, just like Marshall said! You are gorgeous! :)

GetHealthyWithHeather June 24, 2010 at 9:09 am

I’ve been trying to use more freezer items but I always have bread, meats, fruit and veggies stocked up.

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine June 24, 2010 at 9:12 am

I’m so excited to see the finished product of your house! It’s already looking great, and with all the hard work you guys are putting in, I’m sure it will be even more beautiful. The flip flops are definitely a great idea for wedding shoes- my brother’s fiance got 5 inch heels, and I’m sure her feet will be deformed by the end of the night!

Our freezer at home is a black hole. Last night I discovered some TJ’s heart shaped truffles from Valentine’s Day! We also have way too many Boca burgers that my mom bought on sale and no one likes, and tons of containers of homemade veggie broth. You could lose a child in that thing.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your week!

Paula June 24, 2010 at 9:55 am

Yeah-Girl! I adore your wedding shoes! I wore Reef sandals for mine ;-)

julie June 24, 2010 at 10:19 am

i saw that article too! i can alwaaays feel the days that i’ve eaten too little carbs the night before because i feel like a sloth! haha like today for example :) i’m actually really surprised to not see sweet potatoes on that list! no?

praise the sweet lord you got on the custard bandwagon girl!

Tay June 24, 2010 at 10:29 am

Yup, you definitely can’t go back after eating an egg in your oats. Never ever again. Muahahaha. I eat everything on this list except plaintains, pearl barley, lentils & white beans. I like everything on this list, I just don’t eat it regularly! And in my freezer that’s currently MINE (not my roommates): chicken cilantro wontons, homemade banana blueberry muffins, 1 waffle, big cheese filled pretzels (had these forever and need to eat them!), loaf of bread, strawberries, Heart Thrive bars.

Holly at Greek Yogurt and Apple Slices June 24, 2010 at 10:35 am

uhhhh I HATE putting IKEA furniture together…it is SUCH a pain. but, go you & your mom for putting it together :)

Naomi (onefitfoodie) June 24, 2010 at 11:07 am

the house looks so awesome! i see you used frozen grapes in your smoothie and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!!!! they give me the chills when I eat them (like naisl on a chalk board) I knwo its wierd, but I seepast that becauase I love them so much!!!

I hate spending money on sub par food too…your salads look TEN times better than that one!!

I bought some wasa crisp breads the other day and loved them! i toped it with PB and jam and it was a delicious snack! thanks for the idea, I always see you eat them with your ensaladas!

in my freezer, I have veggie burgers, ezekial bread, lots of frozen fruit, coffee, vita tops, meatless meatballs, left over turkey garbanzo bake, some muffins!

i eat all but pearl barley and plantains! i also dont have whole wheat pasta alot! I think I prefer brown rice or whole wheat cous cous over pasta!

lowandbhold June 24, 2010 at 11:34 am

It’s so awesome how many people are helping with your house, you have quite the loving family unit! Where’ve you been hiding the cute brother?? ;)

1. I think I’m 7/10 too, but more lentils and less brown rice. Not because I don’t like brown rice, I just never think to eat it. LOVE plaintains, and I need to eat them more often. And I need to try/find pearl barley.
2. Flour (wheat and white and pastry wheat), sugar, pancake mix – because my Mom says to freeze things that tend to attract bugs. Also: Blood Orange sorbet, some frozen fruit, ice, ice packs, and a bunch of stuff that is probably freezer burned and needs to be tossed out :/

Lara (Thinspired) June 24, 2010 at 12:28 pm

MAKES MY DAY to see brown rice on that list :) That and bananas are my two favorite resistant starches!

Miss you J Bean!

Mary @ What's Cookin' with Mary June 24, 2010 at 2:47 pm

didn’t get a chance to comment yesterday, but i really enjoyed your body talk section. a lot. i stopped weighing myself about a year ago bc the numbers on the scale started making or breaking my day… then leaving me kinda down for days after… or more. it sucked, so i stopped. so anyway, thank you for your thoughts on the topic bc i totally agree! oh, and marshall’s word of wisdom were so true… what a great guy you have ;)

Shannon June 24, 2010 at 3:01 pm

i just read yesterday’s post and comments, and wow. really appreciate you keeping it real, but you gotta know that you are gorgeous, fit, all-around amazing :)

i eat all of those carbs, but not enough plaintains :) I”ll have to remember those for good fuel!! my freezer? some fresh strawberry fro yo, some chicken sausages, grass fed burgers… frozen fruit, peas, avocados, nuts… who knows!

i’m excited for your trip to cabo! it’s gorgeous, and i loved it :)

ari June 24, 2010 at 3:02 pm

marshall IS so handsome! i hope i can find me someone as good looking as he someday :) you’re a lucky girl (and obvz he’s a lucky guy)!

BroccoliHut June 24, 2010 at 4:05 pm

7/10 for me too–plantains, barley, and brown rice don’t seem to make it into my diet as much as they should.
My freezer contains about 8 bags of frozen fruit (no joke), Vitatops, frozen broc, and assorted veggie burgers. Just what you’d expect from me I guess:)

Em June 24, 2010 at 5:04 pm

having a house must be so exciting (even if you can’t live in it just yet!). so grown up.

1. hm. on the regular, I don’t eat a whole lot of these. I did eat three bananas today though. score?

2. let’s see… flaxseeds, ormus supergreens, fruit, ice, fruit. some fruit. and husband’s quorn nuggets, sandwich thins, and coffee.

Whole Body Love June 24, 2010 at 6:13 pm

The new house is starting to “take shape”! :) I’m pleasantly surprised that I like a lot of the “top ten” resistance starch foods.

actorsdiet June 24, 2010 at 6:34 pm

my freezer is full of bread and veggies!

therabbitrunner June 24, 2010 at 6:34 pm

i always love learning more about healthy carbs too! Good thing I eat most of them. I find it interesting that some beans have more resistance power than others (like the white beans vs. chick peas) oh well still good to eat ’em.

I am a total SF Maple Syrup addict too! I hate to say it, but I like it more than the real stuff. I dont know why I just do :D

Mel June 24, 2010 at 6:41 pm

I eat all of them regularly except for plantains. Barley is one of my favorite grains, but my boyfriend doesn’t like any grain other than rice.

Well we have 2 freezers, one in the kitchen and a giant chest freezer in the garage. I have ground turkey and beef, chicken breasts. Tons of frozen veggies, some vitatops, some chicken sausage, few bags of pecans from my parent’s trees, some sausage of DBF’s that he brings back from Alabama, and some Hatch Green Chiles that I roasted in the fall

carolinebee June 25, 2010 at 4:04 am

OMG girl did u and Marshall get a house, congrats!!!! It is soo gorgeous i cannot wait to see the finished product :D FUN! My freezer is stuffed to the brim, mostly frozen meat like chicken, turkey, salm…also lean pockets, lol no shame!!!

inmytummy June 25, 2010 at 4:54 am

I have a new found love for pearl barley. You should try it.
