just not sure.

by Janetha on May 25, 2010

in meals,moves

more often than not, i am just not sure how i am going to start out my daily post.  today is another one of those days.. and the term “hello, friends!” can only be used so many times.

aw, hell, what’s one more time??

hello, friends! :D

thanks to all of you who chimed in on the issue when it comes to reading/commenting on blogs. sounds like most people would rather just read and not say a word.  you all said you get more out of blog reading when you don’t feel like you have to say something in response to every post you read.  for the record, i prefer to not receive those obligatory comments.  you can totally tell the difference between someone who is commenting because they have something to say and those who comment just to say they commented.. which is just silly.

moving on!

hope your tuesday has been fantastic.  mine’s been hectic.  let’s discuss!

the hecticness actually started last night, when i came home to wet carpet!  turns out my basement (of the house where i live, not the house that i own) flooded and consequently all the carpet in my bedroom is soaked.. and the shower is not functioning.. and as a result i have wet socks and smell like a dirt ball ;)

not really.. but i couldn’t shower this morning because of the situation. so that was great. i skipped the wakeup call challenge because i didn’t want to get all sorts of sweaty and then go all day without a shower. hopefully things are fixed soon.. and i can go back to my regularly scheduled morning plyo routine! until then i may have to utilize the gym shower.. which, by the way, i have NEVER done in my life. nope. i have never taken a shower at the gym. not even my school gym. is that weird or normal? i can’t decide.

so, i usually have physical therapy on wednesdays and fridays, but since i have a seminar to attend tomorrow, i went to PT this morning. bright and early. at 7:15. yawn. things are getting better and i think i will only need a few more appointments! stoked.

image_thumb42

i came to work and was busy right away.. so breakfast didn’t come until quite a bit later. i was about to eat my arm but then i realized i would probably need it sometime or another, so i made some actual food instead.

i didn’t bring anything to the office which meant i didn’t have much to work with. i also was just not sure what i felt like.. so i opened the fridge/freezer to see what my options were. i eventually made a decision:

meal 1: greek yogurt parfait-in-a-container @ 9:30 AM

IMG_2252

this had 3/4 cup oikos greek yogurt + 1 cranbran vitatop + 1 TB mighty maple PB + cinnamon.IMG_2258

it may not be pretty, but it is definitely one of my favorite things to eat.

IMG_2259

290 calories, 34g carbs, 24g protein, 8g fat

wow. that was a whole lot of rambling up there before i managed to get the first meal/photo out.. apparently i am long winded tonight. to minimize the nonsense, i will cut to the chase and show you lunch.

lunch.. again, i didn’t have much to work with, but i did bring my pre-baked sweet potato to work, so i decided to eat that and build a meal around it. i was just not sure what to make, but in the end.. i fell back on this bowl of goodness:

meal 2: my latest addiction @ 12:30 PM

IMG_2263

this was a small baked sweet potato + 1 cup low fat cottage cheese + 1 TB sunbutter + cinnamon.

IMG_2265

416 calories, 45g carbs, 34g protein, 10g fat

i want to get a food scale so i have a better calculation of how many grams of unlabeled items i am eating.. such as sweet potatoes and other veggies and fruits. anyone care to recommend the best brand of food scale? i’m all ears. it may seem tedious to some people when it comes to weighing and measuring food, but i think that it is important to be aware of your portions, especially when trying to get in shape for a wedding! ;)

work was hectic. the good news is we’ve hired a replacement for the gal who quit.. the bad news is i had to spend an hour on the phone with the department of occupational licensing, only to get nothing accomplished. the good news is i crossed quite a few things off my weekly to do list.. the bad news is i still have 18 piles of work and no time to plow through it. the good news is payday is this friday.. the bad news is it’s only tuesday. ya win some, ya lose some.. i am trying to stay positive through it all!

snacktime!

weird.. for the third time in a row i went into the kitchen at work to see what i could come up with to properly fuel myself. for the third time in a row i had no idea what i felt like, i was just not sure, so i just grabbed a bar to take with me on the go.

meal 3: peanut butter chocolate rice krispie treat simply bar @ 4:30 PM

IMG_2266

160 calories, 16g carbs, 18g protein, 3g fat

image_thumb39

and then it was time for a workout. i feel like i haven’t worked out in ages, when in reality it’s only been since saturday afternoon. AGAIN, right in line with all my meals today, i was just not sure what i felt like doing when it came to the moves. so i did a little of this and a little of that. sure, why not?

intervals (on treadmill @ 1% incline):

minute # speed (MPH)
1 4.0
2 4.5
3 5.0
4 5.5
5 6.0
6 6.5
7 7.0
8 7.5
9 8.0
10 8.5
11 6.5
12 7.0
13 7.5
14 8.0
15 8.5
16 6.5
17 7.0
18 7.5
19 8.0
20 8.5

THEN…

walking on incline:

25 minutes @ 3 MPH and 15% incline

while reading this book:

IMG_2271

you’ll be hearing more about this soon. mark my words.

workout stats: total time: 45 minutes, total distance: 3.5 miles, max HR: 175, ave HR: 139, calories burned: 303.

image_thumb42

i came home and, wouldn’t you know it.. just not sure what to make for dinner. but, a girl’s gotta eat, so of course i threw something together using what i had in the fridge and freezer.

meal 4: spinach & meatball “carbonara” @ 7:00 PM

IMG_2284

not bad for throwing random ingredients together, eh?

here is how it all came together.

first i sauteed 2 cups of spinach with salt & pepper (only using cooking spray on the pan), then covered the spinach right at the end to keep it warm:

IMG_2274

next, i boiled 1 cup of carba-nada pasta:

IMG_2275

i also separately heated (in the microwave) four spinach & fontina meatballs and 1/2 cup of mushroom marinara:

IMG_2278

THEN.. i tossed together the pasta, spinach & meatballs~
IMG_2282

and at the last moment decided it would be a good idea to add an egg to the dish.. to make it carbonara“ish” :)

IMG_2283

poured the sauce over the pasta and topped it with the egg.. voilà!

IMG_2290

let’s face it.. i can NOT manage to make an egg over-easy without breaking the yolk. i’ve never been able to. what’s the trick?!

IMG_2288

315 calories, 23g carbs, 31g protein, 11g fat

the one thing i am sure of is that i will be having some protein ice cream for my meal 5. it just feels right.

needless to say (but i will say it anyway), it’s been a weird, blah, ho-hum day! i have no idea where my cooking and workout inspiration has run off to, but i hope it comes back in time for waffle wednesday!

one thing i want to start doing every day is keep track of my BLTs. BLTs mean “bites, licks & tastes” that i don’t blog about. with my wedding (and cabo honeymoon!) inching closer, i need to be more accountable. SO.. each day, i will post a list.

things consumed today that weren’t shown:

  • 1 gallon water
  • 16 oz black coffee
  • multivitamin
  • CLA x 2
  • vitamin B pill
  • calcium chew
  • 4 pieces trident tropical twist
  • 10 mini bell peppers
  • 15 sugar snap peas
  • 15 nuts (almonds & peanuts)
  • 4 trader joe’s gorgonzola crackers

soo.. aside from the crackers, the above list is nothing to cry about. i am hoping that by making this list, daily, i will be more inclined to NOT have any mindless munching throughout the day. i will also be able to make sure i remember to take my vitamins/supplements and drink my water!

Qs~

1. do you use the gym showers? have you ever? nope. not me. not ever.

2. do you weigh/measure your food? if not, how do you determine your portion size? i use the fist/palm method. but i do want to get a food scale so i can be more accurate.

simplyshaka May 25, 2010 at 7:07 pm

Holy crap…nice protein grams on the breakfast!

I have a food scale (Ozeri) got it off Amazon for 20 something bones and love it. I don’t weigh everything but find it especially helpful with pasta, potatoes and meat.

I showed at the gym…once. Never again, it just wasn’t fot me and it was so hot in there w
with ladies of all ages running around nekkie. No thanks.

Kelly Snow May 25, 2010 at 7:08 pm

Hey lady!
I have those im just not sure days alot! hmmmmm….. Anyway, about showering in the gym, i do it all the time. Like, i shower there more than at home. Number one trick is bring flip flops to wear in there.

Erika @ Dr.TriRunner May 25, 2010 at 7:12 pm

There was a period of time when I didn’t shower in my OWN shower for over three months. I always shower at the gym or at school after practice!!

Muy envidiosa of meal #4 :D

andrea May 25, 2010 at 7:12 pm

i just started using my gym showers and its a pain to prep my stuff but its a cinch now for me to get ready, at first it was weird. i use measuring cups alot, i never use my food scale, i just eyeball the portion sizes for chicken and fish.

Abby (Nibble, Nourish, Run) May 25, 2010 at 7:13 pm

I never shower at the gym – I usually run outside then come home…gym showers kind of skeeve me out!

Oh and I just got a food scale and think it’s very helpful – I have the EatSmart Precision scale…love it – super simple to use and pretty interesting to see exactly what I’m eating!

Ps Eggs make everything better!! Love the pasta dish….!

littlemisspotato May 25, 2010 at 7:28 pm

I always break the yolk too! I think that is just a skill I will ALWAYS lack.
Serious questions- you seem to really keep track of your exact intake on a daily basis. Not just documenting the meals but also calories, fat, protein, and carbs.
Does it ever get overwhelming to keep tabs on meals and exercise stats?
Do you have a good memory or keep a journal with ya?

I feel I benefit from writing everything down. But on the other hand ED temptations come up when I see what I’ve consumed.
A ton of questions… but do you have any suggestions for baby stepping into keeping in depth tabs on intake and balancing it all?

Thanks :)

Becky May 25, 2010 at 7:38 pm

Mmm the carbonada looks good! Where did you get your Carba-Nada noodles???

Erica May 25, 2010 at 7:54 pm

Hey girlie! Sorry to hear about your flooding- yikes!!!!!!! Thank goodness its the rental. Hope it gets fixed quick. I agree- you can totally tell when people are just commenting to comment. I think a food scale is great to have, just to keep things in check every now and again. I also love using mine for baking. I have an Eat Smart scale ( http://www.eatsmartproducts.com/) and love it. That sweet potato combo looks divine. 1. I shower at the gym, but only on occasion (when I really need to run somewhere RIGHT from the gym and said place would not appreciate a smelly me). 2. See above ;)

learningtocookeatandenjoydeliciousfood May 25, 2010 at 8:37 pm

Hi,
I dont know if you would want to take my food scale off of my hands?? I have a brand new one that is sitting in its box in my room. I dont want to use it because I really dont need to be obsessing about things like that. If you just email me, we can figure out how I can get it to you!!
Lindsay

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) May 25, 2010 at 8:45 pm

no way…i have a give away starting friday that you’re gonna love per your last line of this post :)

showers in the gym? are you kidding me? my own sweat is far less vile than those showers!

the fact that you appreciate that i didnt compromise my vegan path for my show, training, etc..thank you for saying that :)

comments. i prefer to not get the lame ones either but i truly think some ppl just dont have alot to say. then there’s me and you. diarrhea of the mouth :)
it’s SO HArd though finding the balance for me with it all…

Liz May 25, 2010 at 8:59 pm

Hey Girl!

*HATE* the comments of random! LOL

I try to not use the gym showers. Just freaky. A friend had another lady snatch open her shower curtain at the gym the other day and proceed to chat. Mind you, they’d never met. *shiver* No gym shower creepers for me!

I weigh/portion/measure EVERYTHING! It drives people insane but its the only way I know exactly what’s going in.

emily May 25, 2010 at 9:02 pm

1. Nope, never. And I even change in the bathroom stalls like a total nerd-o!

2. Not everything, but almost always things like cheese, potatoes, chips… We use a kitcen scale but the brand Trimmer (a la Target wedding registry) that I’m very pleased with.

emily May 26, 2010 at 5:08 am

Holy typos! Does anyone even believe that I used to teach English? And on a post where you discussed crappy comments too!

ida May 25, 2010 at 9:09 pm

I have a scale with a built in nutritional calculator. I got it years ago and it still works great. It’s this one and is on sale for $20!!

thewhatkateateblog May 25, 2010 at 9:12 pm

I bought the cheapest food scale at Bed Bath & Beyond forever ago and I still have it. I think it was the Biggest Loser edition, actually!

BroccoliHut May 25, 2010 at 9:27 pm

I’m with you on the gym showers–never even set foot in Duke’s locker room for all four years, despite the fact that I was at the gym almost daily.
I measure some things, like nuts/nut butters with tablespoon measures. I used to weigh practically everything that went into my mouth. I realized the obsessive nature of such a practice, so I’ve tried to loosen up since then.

Michelle May 25, 2010 at 10:23 pm

Ah, almost bought that book at Target tonight about an hour ago. Have the original. Can’t wait to hear what you think about it. It looks much better the one I have!

Tay May 25, 2010 at 10:29 pm

I like that list idea!! I ALWAYS have sooooo many BLTs (way way more than you had above). Perhaps posting a list will make me much more accountable. I like the list at the end of the post idea as well. Rather than just throughout the post as you eat them. I may have to take your idea and run with it ;-)
1. Yup I love to use gym showers! It saves me water ;-) I always wear flip flops though.
2. Um I used to be an obsessive measurer. Then I began to just eyeball it. Lately I’ve been trying to start measuring again as I’m trying to lose a bit of weight.

Lindsay May 25, 2010 at 10:30 pm

I’ve used a gym shower a few times when I was in college. I had running class and then went straight to some work at the school paper, so I needed to freshen up without leaving campus (I lived in an off-campus apartment). There were showers with curtains and some without. I always took the curtained ones, but then I’d walk out and find all sorts of naked people, which freaked me out. Worst part was a roach crawled by while I was showering once! I FREAKED out!

Karin May 25, 2010 at 10:40 pm

I actually never measure my food and just eat as much as I like. It works out well for me though. Even though I love snacking I rarely snack randomly for some reasons.

The showers at my gym are fine. I have to shower there because I usually go to the gym in the morning and don’t want to be all stinky when I go to work ;).

Kerry May 25, 2010 at 11:26 pm

Your carbonara looks good! And i soo want to try those simply bars, they don’t have them in the UK :( xx

Alyson @ Nourished Fitness May 26, 2010 at 12:45 am

eeck, I did not know they made that brand of “pasta” in flavors! .. oh this is very exciting.. I must hunt it down. I read Tosca’s original ‘Eat Clean’ book, but I’m curious to know the differences/additions in ‘Recharged.’ I do measure most of what I eat, though I’m finding myself doing it more & more out of habit than anything else, because by this point I’ve done it so much I’m pretty sure I could eye-it and come pretty close.. what can I say.. I’m left brained :p

Naomi (onefitfoodie) May 26, 2010 at 3:19 am

HEY LADY LOVE!! I do have a food scale (escali) and use it for exactly the things you said, measuring things like sweet potato grams, cereal servings etc. i am not crazyy about it and not trying to lose weight, but I do like to know that I am eating what I said i would eat, especially when its easy for me to eat a whole box of cereal at a sitting and not think twice!! so yes I love it!! I got it on amazon, works pretty darn good

i made your turkey garbanzo bake last night SO SO SO good! deserves to be in toscas book for sure!! i cant wait to see what you whip up next! i have leftovers for the whole week and so psysched about it so you will be seeing it quite a bit on the blog!

LOVE carba nada pasta! i have two bags to get through YES! and love the idea of adding an egg to it, but i am not a fan of runny eggs so I geuss that wouldn’t be a problem with me and breaking it!

never have showered in my gym and dont know why I ever would since I live about 30 seconds walk away from it! BUT if I had to I geuss I would, just make sure to bring flippppper floppers!! who knows whats on that floor!!

umm what else…love your workout and you in general!

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is May 26, 2010 at 3:24 am

I love Carba Nada pasta! And no, I have never used a gym shower – and thats after working in one for 6 years!

lindsay May 26, 2010 at 3:55 am

My husband is the master at cooking eggs. I always spill the yoke too but I kinda like them runny. Our gym ( this is where I work) has the nicest showers with Paul Mitchell shampoo, etc., so I always shower there to take advantage of the supplies, haha!

Lauren May 26, 2010 at 4:02 am

I never know how to start my posts either. I feel like I’m running out of ideas!

Hmmm, I don’t have a food scale and I don’t think I want to start that. I think it’s a good idea for some who are into that, but for me, it would just stress me out. I know that what I am eating now is good for my body and just what it needs so I fear that if I found out that it was way more than I thought, I would want to cut back drastically and I don’t think my body needs that.

Hope you are having a great week my darling!

Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) May 26, 2010 at 4:18 am

I am never sure how to start a daily post. Usually it is, “Happy (Insert day of week here)” Booorring. ;)

I think Salter food scales are awesome, but really any digital food scale is good for at-home, no need to spend a lot of money, just make sure it calibrates quickly!

Trick for the over easy egg? Use the PAN to flip it along with the spatula. Tilt the pan, lightly turn with the spatula! Voila, yolk intact :D

I used to use the gym shower every day…it was gross, but the only way I could get from gym to school in a speedy fashion.

And I use the hand method as well, but we use food scales in school… I’ve been thinking about using it at home for accuracy purposes as well!

Tina May 26, 2010 at 4:53 am

I hate those days when you have no idea what you want to eat. Sadly, that is every day for me right now since nothing ever sounds good. I miss loving FOOD! It will come back soon enough I know.

I like the idea of listing out your “BLTs”. I think when you are working towards a goal it’s good to be accountable. But like you said, none of those are really killing your progress but it’s always good to be mindful. I’m sure you are going to do awesome on your goals the last couple months you have left. Or not even, I guess? Wow! Time flies!

homecookedem May 26, 2010 at 6:21 am

I have got to get my hands on those carba nada noodles. They look awesome!!

I haven’t ever used a gym shower and I never ever will either. For one thing putting on flip flops to shower just reminds me of one of the downsides of dorm living. It’s just gross to me and way too much of a hassle to bring everything from home. Bottom line: I like being in the privacy and comfort of my own home when I shower!!

I used to be addicted to weighing/measuring my food, but right now I’m more focused on listening to my body. I’m sure one day I’ll be back to using my measuring cups/spoons and food scale when I’m ready to go back to weight loss mode. I think it is definitely a good habit for me when I’m trying to get the pounds off.

Patricia Braithwaite May 26, 2010 at 6:27 am

I have a scale, but don’t really use it. (not sure of the brand, but it’s not very fancy) I use measuring cups more than anything. I probably should go back to the scale.
I have Tosca’s book and love it. It is full of great information.
I think I may have showered in the gym once. (that was enough)

Steph May 26, 2010 at 7:05 am

I have never showered at the gym and I used to work out religiously at 5 am …

I used a food scale (back when I was religious about the gym at 5 am) and loved it. There are several models at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and range from $30-$50. Just make sure it is a digital scale that has a tare button and weighs in both grams and ounces.

louisianagrown May 26, 2010 at 7:15 am

I have never used any type of gym shower, and I don’t think you’re weird for not doing it – you’re smart! Those things just scream “nasty” to me, and besides that I have really crazy hair that I tame down with a blow dryer and straight iron every day. I couldn’t see myself busting all of that out at the gym.

Graze With Me May 26, 2010 at 7:29 am

I’ve never showered in any sort of locker room – it totally grosses me out. Plus I’m high maintenance so it takes a lot of product/prep work to get me “ready”.

I have a scale but almost never use it except for baking and curiosity. After reading Intuitive Eating I just go with my hunger levels and knowledge of protein, carb & fat combos. But no judgement here, I was crazy with food before my wedding so good for you for being on top of your game!

Sweet Cheeks May 26, 2010 at 7:31 am

I really want a scale, too…those darn measuring cups and spoons are so deceiving!!

Nope, I have never used the gym shower either…kinda creeps me out?

Anyways, hope you have a fabulous Wednesday and can find it in your heart to forgive me for misspelling your name. It’s fixed now!!

lisaou11 May 26, 2010 at 7:33 am

I’ve felt just not sure a lot lately with blogging. I’m definitely in a blogging rut right now.

I do have a scale, and I use it mostly for measuring some meat out and that’s about it!

Sonia May 26, 2010 at 7:46 am

eew I do not use the gym showers! I take ridiculously long showers and an even ridiculously longer time to get ready so it would suck being in a steamy sweaty locker room for that long! Plus my gym is kinda ghetto… I might take a shower at a fancier gym…

I totally agree with you on the pleasures of reading w/o commenting! I tend to do most of my commenting during the day when I’m on Google Reader at work, but at night when all I want is entertainment (that sounds horrible haha) I just breeze through the reading without clicking through. One of the reasons I leave comments though…is to put myself out there…is that wrong? I’m still a new blogger and I find that I get more readers when I leave more comments on other blogs. Shamless? I do try to make my comments “quality” comments though!

Heather May 26, 2010 at 7:59 am

I do shower after swimming at the community center but don’t like it! It’s only because i’m in a time crunch I do it. I have a food scale I use for weighting out pasta and sometimes meat. Most of the time I eye ball my portions and hope i’m right on.

freckledfoodie May 26, 2010 at 8:08 am

Bahhh, I still have yet to try the sweet tater/cc mix. Dinner looks delish, too! Maybe I’ll try that tonight. I need to get some good marinara sauce, though.

1. I showered ONCE in a gym shower at LA fitness because I had a date in the area afterward and it wouldn’t have made any sense to run the whole way home to go the whole way back down. Not my cup of tea, but it did the job.

2. I have a food scale, but it’s a crappy one that I picked up at a health foods store. I hear good things about the Eat Smart Precision Scale though!! Danica seems to love hers!

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine May 26, 2010 at 8:40 am

Gym showers seriously creep me out. I know they’re there for people to use, but the thought of someone else’s naked hiney all over it gives me the heebie jeebies. I usually measure my “treat” foods, like ice cream or whatever, but everything else gets the good old eyeball. I figure it’s okay for me to eat more than a serving of grapes, but I really don’t need the sugar high with my overzealous portioning!

jqlee May 26, 2010 at 8:40 am

omg, i have never showered at the gym either. most of the times, i just roll about like a scumbag w/o showering after my workouts and go to my classes. i FEEL gross but i dont smell so i’m good with it.

my trick to the over easy egg is to cook it on low and slow. it almost never breaks on me.

when i weighed my food, i used a basic “biggest loser” one that i found at bed bath and beyond. with those 20% coupons they send me a million times, it came out to be only like $16 with tax. it’s digital, it works. heck i counted calories this way and lost like 20 lbs. (not that it was necessary but you know how that story goes)

ellie May 26, 2010 at 8:47 am

I like your “hello friends” opening :D Also love the look of that dinner- are the Carba Nada noodles as good as they sound?

1. do you use the gym showers? yup- every day. I haven’t had a shower at home since I joined my gym…though now I am wondering if I shouldn’t, reading the responses! I don’t come home after workouts so if I didn’t use them, I would be smelly and gross all day.
2. do you weigh/measure your food? if not, how do you determine your portion size? I weigh most stuff- liquids I measure, but everything else is weighed.

Alicia May 26, 2010 at 8:48 am

1. Not ever in a million years! There are too many icky people at the gym and the thought of sharing a space with them grosses me out! However, I do use the shower at work where I do cardio on my lunches. There are only 2 other females who use the gym/shower so it’s not icky.

2. I use a food scale (don’t know brand) and I love it. Without measuring my meat and other items I’d be really confused and my portions would be WAAAY off.

april May 26, 2010 at 8:53 am

I always weigh my food.. even packaged food can be off! I like the EatSmart Scale (hint hint, email the company! :) )

Carbzilla May 26, 2010 at 9:44 am

I’ll have to look for that Carba-Nada. Very interesting!

I had a HILARIOUS incident with protein cake growing out of the mug in the microwave this week. I’ll have to post about it. I thought it was going to stick to the top of the micro! It was a sight to see. The final product was pretty inedible – I didn’t have applesauce so I tried almond milk. It was like eating dried cactus.

I’m pretty sure I never showered at school. I think I’ve showered at *a* gym in my lifetime but probably only if I’d been swimming. I never did the whole time I was working out hard in LA. I’d come home and jump on the internet (very new then) and then prolly not shower for a couple of hours. Gross.

Lindsay May 26, 2010 at 11:03 am

Bummer about your shower and your carpet. Cottage cheese on a sweet potato is such comfort food to me. I’ve only taken a shower at the gym once beacause I always go home after the gym. I’d def take one if I were going somewhere after..as long as I had flip flops! :)

cardiopizza May 26, 2010 at 12:13 pm

At my previous job (I work at University rec centers) I DID use the shower daily. They were pretty nice!

At my current job they are nasty so I steer clear! I’ve seen bugs….gross

As for weighing and measuring: nope, I don’t do it! I typically just know what a portion is and if I take too much of something than I stop eating when full. I do measure when baking though! :)

So, I was all prepared to tell you that you know my favorite FOOD SCALE for the money – The Eat Right Precision Pro. Several fancy recipe makes and chefs use it – for real, not just me LOL. I have owned and do own alot of food scales in my life and this is by far my favorite.

I am pretty sure that the one that Lindsay is trying to give you above is the one she won in my giveaway – pretty funny….but, maybe you can get that one :)

YEAH!!!! You finally got the Eat Clean Recharged book! I LOVE how they made it spiral now. I can’t wait to hear what you think. It is by far my favorite out of all her books….well, that and all the cookbooks of course too :)

I am still pondering if I am ready to do cooler 1 or not yet.

I sometimes shower at my work gym, but there are like 3 people in the entire gym at most so I’ve convinced myself that it’s not gross.

This is sort of weird, but the only thing I measure is egg beaters so I can ensure that I’m getting enough. Otherwise I end up with too little and we can’t have that. I wish that happened with other foods, but I usually think my scale is lying. That can’t be 1 cup of cereal, it’s like nothing!

I have to ask- which Vitatop is your favorite?? I actually have NOT tried them yet (SHOCKER..i know..) & would like to pick some up asap! I keep looking @ the cornbread ones..but would love some feedback :)
Also, what is your favorite mix in for Plain Greek Yogurt? I do NOT like it by itself- I think it tastes gross, but I love greek yogurt.
I also do NOT take showers in the gym or in school (except when I had practice @ 5am..blah)
I do not have a scale..I used to, but then I became a bit obsessed with weighing everything..so I got rid of it.
Hope you had a WONDERFUL Wednesday today :)

I took a weight lifting class in high school BEFORE my regular school classes, so I showered in my school/gym shower every day. Then in college, I was on the diving team, so I showered everyday at the gym too. I have only done it a handful of times since then, but even with all of that “experience” I still get awkward and uncomfortable about it.

I love my food scale! I actually don’t use it that often (not for daily meals, anyway) but for baking it’s so awesome. It’s a Chefmate.
