check in time.

in meals,moves

hello and happy waffle wednesday!

today is the second to the second to last day of the month.. so, i am going to check in on my april goals and see how i’ve done!
goal #1: blog goal: create more “meals” aka recipe pages.

my goal was to add 4 pages. one for each week of the month. so, let’s see. here are the recipe pages i’ve created in april are:

looks like i need to publish a couple more before friday! eep! i have plenty of photos and recipes, so this should be attainable.

meals

meal 1: flax waffles & egg whites @ 9:00 AM

IMG_0701

310 calories, 12g fat, 31g carbs, 23g protein

i finally managed to buy some freezer waffles so i could celebrate waffle wednesday even when i didn’t have much time to prepare breakfast. yes, it was one of those mornings.

IMG_0702

two natural organics flax waffles topped with 2 tsp mighty maple peanut butter.

IMG_0703

four egg whites topped with 1 TB heinz reduced sugar ketchup.

the power went out at work right after i took this photo. so.. for the record, it went out at work twice yesterday, went out at home last night for who knows how many hours (i went to bed) and then it went out again at work today. it’s been windy here in the SLC.

pretty sure me and my little dog are going to blow away to OZ here in a minute.

goal #2: blog goal: create more “moves” pages.

well, my goal was to create four “moves” pages. i have plenty of material but haven’t published all of it. i did a moves post earlier in the month and i intend to make an individual page for each move. i will try to get that done by friday! for now, here are the ones i’ve added this month:

this will be tripled by friday, i hope.

meal 2: cottage cheese & hummus wrap + veggies & laughing cow cheese @ 12:45 PM

IMG_0704

315 calories, 6g fat, 26g carbs, 27g protein

for the wrap, i used one tumaro’s garden wrap and filled it with lettuce and a mixture of 1/2 cup cottage cheese and 2 TB cedar’s tomato basil hummus.

IMG_0707

the veggies are pretty self explanatory. i was feeling frisky and added a laughing cow wedge of cheese to the mix.

IMG_0709

yum.

goal #3: financial goal: put $500 into savings.

hmmm.. well, the $800 vet visit last monday put a bit of a damper on this goal. but i was still able to tuck away about $350.. so i am calling it a victory. i’ll take what i can get!

goal #4: wedding planning goals: find a printing press for the invites, book the cake baker, order the bridesmaid footwear, complete the gift registry, get engagement photos taken, work out furniture rental and linen details.

uhh. wedding planning is overwhelming, dudes. and dudettes. i have found a printing press, we have an appointment with the cake guy tomorrow night, i need to send my maids the link to buy their flip flops, there is no way in hell i’ve had time to register, we get our engagement photos taken friday and i have the table sizes for the linens we need.. so that is a halfway one there.

all things considered, i think i’ve done just okay on the wedding plans this month. but july 17 is coming up quick and i really need to get to work on sorting things out. serious business, folks.

meal 3: super random snack @ 3:45 PM

IMG_0715

well, that looks disgusting, doesn’t it?

i promise, it tasted great. it was 1 alternative brand english muffin (toasted) topped with 1/3 cup oikos (it was all i had left) and 2 tsp sunbutter (that is sunflower seed butter, for those of you just tuning in)

IMG_0717

210 calories, 6g fat, 21g carbs, 18g protein

goal #5: fitness goals: work out 6 days / week, three days of cardio and three days of strength training.

check! i have not missed a day of working out this month. and to make a good thing even better, i have stayed fairly active on my rest days by going snowboarding,  on walks with the dogs and to the dog park :)

goal #6: eating goals: reduce BLTs (bites, licks, tastes), reduce sugar intake, increase variety.

the number of BLTs i have taken in has reduced dramatically. and the BLTs that i am guilty of have been of the better variety.. like fruit instead of handfuls of cereal or one of allie’s or lizzy’s super healthy protein bars instead of the roomie’s bag of chips. i am still struggling with a few too many BLTs~ but i would say this goal was a success.

as far as reducing sugar intake, i have done a great job with this. i have been eyeing sugar grams in the foods i eat and i like to keep it around 5-7 grams per serving, but try not to go over 10.  it is nice to be more conscious of my sugar intake. i am surprised to see the ridiculous amounts of sugar in foods you’d least expect to find it. i like keeping an eye out.

increase variety. well, i think this is a victory for sure. i have been cooking with new items like tofu and bok choy. i am relying less on chicken breasts and protein powder and finding alternative protein sources to spruce things up. i’ve also incorporated a wider variety of starchy carbs~ like tumaro’s garden wraps and alternative brand english muffins.

SO.

after work i went to the mall to try to find a dress for my engagement photos. we are doing two outfits. one with jeans and one a little dressier. i shopped for nearly TWO HOURS with no luck. i hated it. i just wish SLC would get an H&M, it would make my life so much easier.

as i was walking back toward the exit of the mall, i spotted a tiny boutique i’d never seen nor been into before. they had a plethora of cute dresses. score! i ended up finding one that i really liked.

but it was WAY too dressy for the “style” of our wedding/invitations.

and it was $170.

and it was SO not something i would typically wear.

but i loved it.

so i bought it.

happy ending.. and who the hell cares if the outfits in our invitation are way fancier than the super casual invitation? i am fairly certain the answer is nobody.

moving on.

after the mall it was 7 PM and i was clearly ravenous. lucky for me i had a bar in the car! (i love rhymes)

meal 4: peanut butter chocolate simply bar @ 7:00 PM

IMG_0719 IMG_0720

great stats.

i pulverized this bar in about 30 seconds flat.

IMG_0721

my thoughts? YUM! of course, i expected this. the other two flavors i’d tried, i’d loved. i didn’t think i would hate this bar. i knew it would be awesome.

did you ever make rice krispie treats with peanut butter stirred into the marshmallow goop before adding the cereal?

that is what this was like. plus chocolate.

yuuu-um.

goal #7: education goal: meet with advisor at the university.

crap. i promise i am going to make an appointment tomorrow! cross my heart!

goal #8: intellectual goal: read one book this month.

almost done with this book i am reading. you know, the one by jackie warner. more reviews to come, i know i haven’t talked about it in awhile. there is lots of good stuff to say about it! so i will for sure cross this goal off my list. success!

moves

you probably thought i was going to bail on the gym today, didn’t you? after that horrible mall experience, i really thought about it. but then i realized that my body wanted to work out, it was my mind that didn’t want to. i am all for a rest day if my body needs it.. but if i am just mentally drained, a workout is actually a GOOD idea~ as hard as it may be to talk myself into it.. i always feel better mentally after a good sweat session. don’t you?

i can’t run. i wanted to run. but my self-diagnosed tendonitis in my ankles hurts so bad. don’t worry, i have a doc appointment on friday to get that problem sorted out. so i did the elliptical today.

20 min elliptical HIIT:

i increased my resistance every minute and i increased my speed every two minutes. you can adjust the speed range to your ability, but if you try this one, i urge you to keep the resistance levels the same as below. just go a little slower/faster to suit your ability.

minute # resistance level speed range (MPH)
0-1 6 6.0-7.0
1-2 6 6.0-7.0
2-3 8 7.0-8.0

19-20 6 5.0-6.0

total time: 20 minutes total distance: 2.65 miles

max HR: 178, ave HR: 152, calories burned: 154

hey! i think i will add this to my moves page! here is the link :)

i rode the bike for 10 minutes to polish off a couple more chapters of my book. total workout time today was 30 minutes. and i wore my jazz jersey while working out. i am watching the game right now. GO JAZZ!

goal #9: blog goal: complete all pending product reviews.

um. have you guys noticed a ridiculous amount of product reviews lately? this is why. i typically don’t like to do a bunch of product reviews.. one every week or every other week is a good amount. but i was a slacker and let things pile up~ and i really did want to let you guys know about some of the products i have been loving.

some of the reviews i have done this month:

and i have two more pending. i hope you guys find my product reviews entertaining and informative and don’t get that whole overkill feeling from me talking about products. for the record, i only accept to do product reviews for items i would personally purchase myself and i always give an honest review. and actually, i also give product reviews on items i have purchased myself~ not just ones where the company has sent me items for free.  if i try something and like it, i want you to know about it.. no matter if i bought it or if it was sent to me. i know that some blogs have TONS of product reviews, but my aim is to have a nice balance of recipes, work out routines, product reviews and (of course) my oh-so-witty rambles ;)

goal #10: sleep goal: get 7 hours of sleep each night.

i’ve been rocking this goal. seriously. i have had more sleep this month than i have had in years! granted, there were a few 5 or 6 hour nights in there.. but for the most part i have been sleeping a lot more, which i love, and will continue to do.

meals

meal 5: steamed vegetables & green monster @ 9:00 PM

i wanted two things. veggies and something sweet. this dinner may have been random, but it was exactly what i was craving.

IMG_0744

2 cups of kirkland brand normandy blend frozen veggies. lovely.

IMG_0745

and a mug of coffee protein shake!IMG_0726

  • 1/2 cup silk pure almond milk
  • 1 small banana
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 scoop 100% whey protein powder (EAS brand)
  • ice
  • water (just enough to get the blender mixin’!)

looks like a mug ‘o’ coffee at first glance..

IMG_0732

but the smoothie stache tells a different story!

IMG_0739

dinner totals: 315 calories, 5g fat, 40g carbs, 32g protein

well.. i don’t have any more goals to check in with! i think that i did a pretty stellar job on most of my goals, and since i still have a couple days to tie up loose ends, i hope to have them even more accomplished than in this post. wish me luck :)

other random things i want to say:

  • what a difference 84 days can make: michelle recently posted her 12 week transformation photos on  her blog. this really inspired me and i had asked her if i could share her results with you guys. she agreed and so you all need to go check her out!! click, click, click!
  • hayley is having a GIRL! congrats, momma to be!
  • april bought a new house! congrats, and hooray for making the tax credit cutoff deadline.
  • marshall went to dinner with friends tonight for a birthday (i couldn’t make it, unfortunately! it was short notice and i had too much on my plate) and instead of buying an entree (it was at a pretty expensive steak house) he opted to have a less expensive dessert instead. he sent me an email entitled “dinner” with this photo:

image

haha. can i just say i love marshall for so many reasons? here are three. one, he sends me photos of his food for the blog. two, he is aware of our financial situation with the home renovations and lots of expenses coming up so he orders a cheap dessert instead of a manly steak dinner. that is thoughtful. and three, he can have mud pie, ice cream and coffee for dinner and still have runway model legs. maybe when we get married i will inherit his metabolism.

hey, i have to take his last name.. i should at least get something else out of the deal ;)

did you guys think i forgot to pick the giveaway winners? never.

i was too lazy to see who commented with an entry and who just commented without an entry, so i ended up just including everyone who commented. much easier.

winning numbers (generated on random.org)

grand prize winner (coupons & chico bag): #102: Whole Body Love

runners up (coupons): #72: Sarah Carter, #16 ashley

congrats, ladies! please email me your mailing info and i will have you silk almond milk prizes sent out immediately!

gosh, i am good at typing for long periods of time. this post ended up longer than moby dick.

tomorrow is guest post thursday so i hope you all enjoy that, i have a great HAPPY post lined up.. i will be back on flashback friday :)

Qs~

1. ATTENTION! this is the goal police! how are you doing with your current goals? does not have to be april goals. just your goals in general. what are they? how are they coming along?

2. what is the most $$$ you have spent on a single item of clothing? i do NOT have expensive taste. this could be a bad thing or a good thing, depending on how you look at it. but i like to consider it good.. i am all about the cheap stores like forever 21 and h&m. spending $170 on a dress today kinda scared me. okay, it really freaked me out. aside from my wedding dress (which was paid for by my mom.. not even me) i think this is the most expensive dress i’ve ever owned. i do spend a few hundred dollars on snowboarding outerwear.. but just for clothes to wear out and about? yeah. today’s purchase wins the prize. i know that it is probably not a lot of money for a nice dress for most people.. but it was for me!

Julia April 28, 2010 at 10:41 pm

Me and goals, well we haven’t been the best of friends this last week, so we won’t go there.

As for $$ and clothes, well I have a thing for designer jeans…I will confess to having paid over $170/pair for some of them. I justify it by the fact that I buy jeans very infrequently.
Aside from outerwear (nice wool coat), my wedding dress will also be my most expensive clothing purchase, and like you I didn’t pay for it…so.
I have to start looking for a dress for my rehearsal dinner and I’m looking in about that same price range…weddings are definitely the time to splurge on nice clothes :)

Carbzilla April 28, 2010 at 10:43 pm

Hi – so sorry I’ve been so MIA, but I’ll email you.

I died laughing today when my dentist told me I have geographic tongue! Aren’t I such a copycat? I didn’t even know I had it – does yours really bother you? I’ve been eating walnuts and pecans and feel nothing. I just have a weird ring on one side.

Like a dork, I couldn’t wait to tell you.

Big hugs!
Tiff

closet365project April 28, 2010 at 10:54 pm

High five for not spending lots on clothes. That said, I WANT those running Oakley’s that are being advertised in every gym and fitness magazine. I can’t justify spending $100+ on any item of clothing, let alone sunglasses.

Erica April 28, 2010 at 11:07 pm

Great check in post! I love the idea of setting shorter term (monthly) goals. It sounds like you did a great job hitting or at least partially hitting your goals. Wedding planning i super stressful and I so feel for you. It just always seems like there is a million things to do. Glad you got the dress- you’re going to look adorable in the pictures :) – please share them with us if you can!! Big high five on achieve the sleep goal (I stink at this one) and hooray for a giant smoothie in a mug ;) I usually don’t spend a lot of $$ on clothing either. Something worthwhile= good athletic shoes to teach in (although…I almost always wait for a sale)

Andrea@WellnessNotes April 28, 2010 at 11:37 pm

You did great with your goals! And I love that you hold yourself accountable at the end of the month… Maybe I should do that more often…

I don’t spend a lot of money on clothes. But I do have a few pricier items that I love (and unexpectedly fell in love with!) and wear a lot, so they were totally worth it. If you love the dress, it’s the right decision! :)

actorsdiet April 28, 2010 at 11:38 pm

i think $200 for a pair of designer jeans once. maybe more for some comfy shoes. but now that i live near some really good consignment shops, i don’t do that anymore!!!

jqlee April 29, 2010 at 12:01 am

BLT – I’m a total failure at this but like you, its sooo much better and it’s more of too many grapes than too much cereal too or even nuts. OMG i have a problem with nuts :)

I love that Marshall sends you the pics too :) Our boys…they’re so cute sometimes.

Most expensive clothing item…shoes. Upwards of the $200’s…totally worth it. Oh ya…coats too. Banana Republic is the love of my life and I think I’m used to their prices now. I still get pretty much everything on sale. They get marked down so quickly! But realistically, their sale price is probably what the normal price should be to begin with right??

Courtney (Pancakes & Postcards) April 29, 2010 at 2:44 am

Congrats on all your successful accomplishments in April! This post really made me motivated to make my own goals for the next month and stick to them! I especially like your one about BLTs and reducing sugar. My sweet tooth is my biggest problem, and I know everyone says that once you reduce your sugar intake you don´t crave it as much, but I have never been so lucky as to arrive at that point. This motivated me to try for real in May! Without automatically assuming that I am going to fail.

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is April 29, 2010 at 3:43 am

I could never post how much I’ve spent on clothing. It’s waaaaaay too much. And shoes. Oh, shoes.

Lauren April 29, 2010 at 3:50 am

I HATE shopping too! Malls stress me out like nothing else in this world. But it’s so awesome that you found a great dress. Who cares that it was a little pricy, these photos will be something you look at almost everyday for the rest of your life. I still have our engagement pics all up throughout our house! :)

Good job on all of the goals! You are so focused right now. I can really see this in your posts but you are also so happy!!! When the end goal is something so extraordinary, it makes it easier to stay on track! :)

Have a great Thursday.

homecookedem April 29, 2010 at 4:43 am

Way to go on all of your goals!! You are such a rockstar!! Your posts inspire me every single day to stay focused on my health and fitness goals!! :) AND, you totally have me hooked on those nature’s path flax waffles. Have you had the ones with figs? Those are seriously delish. Anyway, you’re doing great Janetha!!!!! :)

Johnna April 29, 2010 at 5:13 am

Great job on your goals. Like you, I’m trying to set some goals for myself as well. Keeps yourself in check, accountable and able to track progress! My goal is to get a slammin body for summer, which is right around the corner, so really my ULTIMATE goal is to be there by October when the hubs and I take a nice vacation in Yelapa, Mexico!

The most expensive thing I’ve ever bought was an accessory – a beautiful purse by Burberry for….wait for it, GULP, $1700.00. Yes, that’s right, One Thousand Seven Hundred Dollars. WTHWIT–what the heck was I thinking? It was a gift to myself after my stinking company decided my position was no longer necessary…BUT as a parting gift I got a lovely BIG check that equaled 70% of my annual salary. I deserved this little treat for working for them for 15 years and then getting the ax.

BTW – you can always do what we did…after months of intense wedding planning, a small budget that kept increasing and family members who had big mouths, big egos and too many opinions…we ran off to Jamaica and got married on the beach. It was lovely and it gave me a goal to work towards for LAST year’s fitness goals. (It’ll be one year next month!)
So….Here’s to MAY and new goals!

Johnna

Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) April 29, 2010 at 5:19 am

Congrats on reaching almost all of your goals and finding a dress!!

Lets see, my goals-
Work out more- YES!
Eat more whole foods- YES!
Relax more- Yes! I have been taking time to read and meditate :)
Organize my blog & write more- Yes, for the most part I have been posting every day!
Clean & Organize apartment- Half. It is partially cleaned and partially organized. I plan to finish this weekend!!

And I spent a GOOD amount of cold hard cash on my senior prom dress. But usually I don’t spend that much- I love H&M, Forever 21, Old Navy sometimes, but I love J Crew and Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters… they are a little pricier!

Karissa @ CardioFoodie April 29, 2010 at 5:30 am

My most expensive item was my wedding dress, but luckily my mother bought me that. Other than that I spend quite a bit on good running shoes and way more than I want to disclose on purses. On the plus side I have ebayed a couple of my old purses and made money back, I now consider them “investments”.

Heather (Where's the Beach) April 29, 2010 at 5:48 am

Sometimes when you find that perfect dress you just have to go with it and splurge a little bit. Sounds like you’re doing awesome with your goals by the way! I made one goal to myself and I’m doing so so with it: Don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s definitely an ongoing goal…

Therese April 29, 2010 at 5:56 am

Sooooome people I know (not me of course) have bought nice dresses like that for one specific occasion and returned them after. I mean I wouldn’t dream about doing it, but it might be something you might want to do ;)

You definitely have switched up your meals more! I noticed this fo sure.

Michelle DOES look amazing. You BOTH give me major motivation!

lisaou11 April 29, 2010 at 6:36 am

I really should utilize the elliptical more. For some reason, I hardly ever do. and when I do, I deem it “easy cardio”. Silly me! Maybe I need to try your routine.

Jocelyn April 29, 2010 at 6:37 am

Congratz! I think you have done well with your goals :) I wish I could keep up the same workout shedule as you! lol

lowandbhold April 29, 2010 at 6:50 am

I bet the dress will look gorg on your invitations. As long as you’re wearing it :)

Marshall is so cute. Love the mudpie pic.

You’re rocking your goals! Many, many congrats to you!

1. I kind of half-assed my grocery goal this month, but since I completed another goal of running a half mary, I’m cutting myself some slack.
2. Oh hell, who knows. Back when I had the help of the parentals I used to drop way too much on clothes. And sometimes still do (though usually moreso buying lots of cheap clothes than a few really pricey items.) But I bought myself a really expensive bag last night. So that was the last expensive thing. And I love it.

Jenna April 29, 2010 at 7:14 am

Good job on your goals!!

Naomi(onefitfoodie) April 29, 2010 at 7:40 am

hey pretty lady WOWZA that mug is humungo and I love it to pieces…they have those in marshalls I think!!

that alternative english muffin with oikos and sunbutter looks so good! I am on such a sunbutter kick right now! I go through phases with it because it does have such a distinct flavor, if I have it too often I get sick of it but I am loving it!

ohh man thats a loaded Q about the most money I have spent on a single item of clothing. I just bought a leather jacket for 224 dollars (and that was 25% off!) but I have bought a dress for over 200 as well. I love bargins though and really splurge on something when I am in LOVE with it. Sometimes I dont buy it right away and if I keep thinking about it for a few days, then I know I want it!!

that elliptical workout looks great, I HATE the elliptical so anything to make it go by faster!

Omg I did the fit test yesterday for INSANITY and..ummmm it was insane!! I am starting tomorrow! ahhhh

louisianagrown April 29, 2010 at 7:45 am

I just checked out those before and after pictures, and they are seriously amazing. I’m trying to think of what the most expensive piece of clothing I’ve ever gotten was, and I’d have to say it was a prom dress. I’m more of a “buy cheap clothing so I only have to wear it a couple of times” kind of girl. I prefer variety over quality. Is that bad?

Sarah April 29, 2010 at 7:48 am

I think I may have to adopt waffle wednesdays also… I am a complete and utter fool for waffles and pancakes… just wish we had a store around here that carried the mighty maple pb!!! I want to try it sooooo bad!

I’m not a big shopper either…. I spent about $180 on a dress to wear to a Christmas party last year because I seriously wasn’t paying attention to the price tag until I checked out. D’oh!! I was too stunned to change my mind and put it back, so home it went with me! I’m not sure if that was the priciest single item of clothing I’ve ever purchased but it was definitely the only one to blind-side me at the cash register!

Good job with your goals! I need to actually set some for the upcoming 9 months… since I had my baby LAST March, I totally fell off the bfl and goal setting wagon.

Jessica April 29, 2010 at 8:27 am

I’m so proud of you setting goals and completing them. I love your coffee mug!

Mama Pea April 29, 2010 at 8:27 am

Yay, I had two posts to read in bed last night! That’s the first thing to happen twice in my bed for a LONG time…unless you count the cat throwing up twice yesterday.

I love your big ole mug but that would send me to the ER in a flash if I actually filled it full of coffee, as I long to do. I want to go swimming in it. I miss it. And it’s making me loopy.

But enough about me…let’s talk about my kids. We followed your lead and bought a bag of those mini peppers at Costco and then ate half the bag on the way home. Well, all of us except Lulu who pretended her red pepper was a tube of lipstick. You can never start too soon!

Have a great day, my friend.

Alicia April 29, 2010 at 8:46 am

1. I didn’t set any monthly goals, but I think I will in May!

2. My wedding dress (my dad bought) and…it’s actually not an article of clothing. I bought a REALLY expensive purse that I fell in LOVE with! But, it is a timeless beauty and it makes me smile just thinking about it. In fact, the purse was double the wedding dress!!!

Mary @ What's Cookin' with Mary April 29, 2010 at 9:22 am

The most I’ve ever spent on clothing would have to be the suit I bought after college for interviews… it was just under $200. (and does not fit me now bc it’s 3 sizes too big for me now WOO HOO!) I am not a fashionista by any means and when I want to wear some expensive designer stuff, I borrow something from my girlfriend Kim’s closet… :D She works in the fashion industry and has the best taste. I can’t bare to spend a fist full of cash on one item….

BUT(!) my wonderful, sweet husband bought me the coach bag AND WALLET that I was drooling over for my 28th Bday… together they were WAY WAY more than I’d ever dream of spending on 2 items… what can I say… I think he loves me :D What a lucky gal I am!

ellie April 29, 2010 at 9:38 am

Do we get to see this dress?!!!! Totes okay to splash out…you are only having one wedding so go big or go home, righ? Your photos are looking hella pretty these days- love the look of that wrap. And Marshall’s contributions rock. Congrats on your goals- you are doing amazing :D

My goals: I haven’t set any for a while. Hmm. May is coming up (where is this year going?!) so I will be setting some new ones. Remind me!

Most I have spent on a clothing item: I spent about $300 on an outfit once. I walked into Urban Outfitters and it was on a mannequin in the store…I bought the whole thing! (skirt, top, cardigan). LOVE IT!

Dawn (HealthySDLiving) April 29, 2010 at 9:50 am

Well the goal that I made just last week to get more sleep….I’m failing miserably! Yep…not even close!
Good for you though–looks like you’re keeping up with most of yours really well!!
Aww I love that Marshall send you pics of his food! My bf does tries to help out with the blog as well…it’s really cute!

Nicole G April 29, 2010 at 9:54 am

I really like how you structured this post – mixing in the goal updates alongside the meals&moves. It made it flow very well! And great job on your goals! You’re kicking April’s (the month not the blogger) ass.

I am the same way with buying clothes. I hate spending a lot of money on clothes. I’m definitely the cheapest of all my friends when it comes to shopping. I can’t even think of anything that I’ve bought that was expensive. Even my prom dress was about 100 dollars or less.

Michelle April 29, 2010 at 10:18 am

Thanks for the shout-out chica!!! YOU inspire ME :-)

Hmmm, the most I’ve ever spent was probably about $170 for a pair of Joe’s jeans (Honey Fit). Now I can find them at Nordstrom Rack and TJ Maxx for half that! I still wear my original pair all the time though.

I am so glad you found something you love! That’s the best feeling ever!!

xoxo

I have the exact same mug, but it says TEA instead of COFFEE. I lurve it!

Most expensive piece of clothing? Well… I have expensive taste. Last weekend I bought a gorgeous Nicole Miller dress on sale for $224! It was a $400 original price.

Not on sale? Another gorgeous dress from Bloomingdales for $450. I was perfect and I was sick and tired of looking. Oh yea I’ve only worn it once.

I have no issues admitting I have a problem!

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine April 29, 2010 at 10:38 am

I saw those bars at a deli today and thought of you! Um, I have expensive clothing taste, I won’t lie…my prom dresses cost way more than they should, which now I look back on as stupid. You live and learn though, right? And great job on the goals..I’m setting some blog-specific ones in May! Hope you’re having a great day!!

Annie April 29, 2010 at 10:59 am

I am so cheap. I live for outlets and stores like TJ Maxx. That said, my grandmother once bought me a pair of wool slacks that were like $150-$200. Definitely the most expensive item of clothing I own. :) I tend to stick to items under $50 if I can.

Goals: I’m doing ok on goals. I still need to learn to drive a stick-shift. Oh, and get a job. I have an interview today, so maybe that one will get crossed off!

mom April 29, 2010 at 11:05 am

Way to go on your goals – I am SO proud of you!! Your comment on that disgusting mess on your bagel made me laugh out loud because that is EXACTLY what I was thinking haha :)

LOVE the coffee mug and Marshall’s big M too.

hmmmm most expensive item of clothing – probably one of my purses :) or a pair of my dansko clogs LOVE em both and sometimes you just have to say “hey I’m worth it!!” and then just go for it – the sick feeling will pass and you will be SO happy with your purchase.

Goals…….I’m a mess but I am doing insanity dvd and it really is pretty insane (the dvds AND the fact that I AM doing it ha!)

Love you tons – can’t wait to see ‘the’ dress :) x0x0x0

p.s. I sure do enjoy all of the comments on your blog, today I think my comment award goes to mama pea too, too funny!

1 – goals – i feel like i haven’t been doing so well with them, my beginning of the year goals were to run a 5k without walking, do an unassisted pull-up and get my hands flat on the floor in a standing forward fold (cardio, strength, flexibility goals) i ran the 5k (2 actually!) but it’s a no go on the other two and i actually haven’t been going to yoga very much lately… booo

2- i have VERY inexpensive taste, to the point where i buy things solely on the price.. $2.50 t-shirt, sold! my most expensive item was my wedding dress and that actually pained me… i think the most expensive thing in my wardrobe is my $75 northface fleece, and i got that as a wedding anniversary gift since it was too expensive!

Angharad April 29, 2010 at 12:03 pm

Yeah…I am a H&M girl. My tastes are becoming slightly more expensive but my bank balance has not caught up so I am still shopping where I shopped aged 15. Ha.
$170 on a dress would be a lot for me too!!

Marshall…what a cutie pie.

beth April 29, 2010 at 12:36 pm

you have SUCH nice skin! Besides eating so well and not drinking (do you ever drink?), what is your skin care secret?? Doooo tell!

Tina April 29, 2010 at 1:03 pm

Whew! You have lots of pages to update and create, huh? But you are such a devoted blogger I know you will get them finished. But don’t put too much added stress on yourself for them. ;)

I have to say I don’t mind the product reviews. I like finding new things I would be interested in trying out and they don’t stand out or seem redundant/cheesy/fake/etc. Keep them coming!

For the questions: I am not a shopper. I think the most expensive thing I have bought (besides my wedding dress) was a really nice pair of jeans for over $100.

Meg @ Be Fit Be Full April 29, 2010 at 1:42 pm

GAH! I am so behing on your blog! I hate when work gets in the way of life. LOVE the new header! And good for you buying the dress you love. An H & M just opened in my area and I am excited to hit it up!

hundredtenpounds April 29, 2010 at 2:26 pm

I guess the most I’ve spent is about $75 on a pair of running shoes….unless you count my bike!

Danica April 29, 2010 at 2:34 pm

Considering all you have going on, I think you are rockin’ your goals – seriously – you are like the busiest person I know, I think :) You are doing great so be proud, own it!

marshall is so cute for all the reasons you listed – I WISH I could have that for dinner and not have it show up on my thighs LOL.

xoxo!

Yayyyy Waffle Wednesday!! Third favourite day of the week (after saturday and sunday of course) And I think that english muffin snack looks divine! Not gross at all! I really like how you broke your goals down into “themes” I am going to do that next month. May is going to be pretty hairy for me, so I’ll need a little more order in my life. Oh! And a big “job well done” on the sleep one! That one in particular makes me happy :)

1. I already half completed my goal of passing my personal trainer exam. The sleep thing I’m doing okay on, and I can’t remember the rest. I will have to review them tonight. Whoops!

2. I think the most I ever spent was $100 on a winter coat. And I’m pretty sure I called my mom 10 minutes after and asked her to reimburse me. I’m awful for doing that, but she wanted me to be warm!

Hope you’re having a wonderful Thursday Janetha!! xoxo

Jocelyn @ Peace.Love.Nutrition April 29, 2010 at 2:40 pm

My goal this week was to cut down on my chocolate consumption (it was getting a little out of hand! haha) And I’ve been pretty good. It’s so hard though—

The most I ever spent on clothing was probably a coat for $200 besides that I’m a bargain shopper (not to mention my budget it pretty tight) but I did spend $68 on Yoga pants! Damn lululemons–love them though!

Tamizn April 29, 2010 at 3:03 pm

I missed goals for this month and forget to set any so I am ready for May and setting some bad ass goals! x x

clairedille April 29, 2010 at 4:40 pm

Great job on all your goals! I really should create more but I struggle with enjoying them if I make them…maybe like yoga once a week and running a few days (like I usually do?).

Ahh, well I am a big spender because I was raised that quality always comes over quantity so I have spent $500 plus on a bag that I have had for 8 years and bought a vintage dior dress in paris from $400 with no guilt…I don’t buy things too often at all because my job is to shop and dress others.

Alyson @ Nourished Fitness April 29, 2010 at 4:52 pm

Oikos + Sunbutter = heavenly :) Yay for finding a dress. To be honest, I really have no recollection of the most I’ve ever spent on an item of clothing, but I might guess around $300. My problem is that I don’t go shopping often, but when I find something I REALLY like, price seems to slip my find. woops :p

Susan April 29, 2010 at 6:08 pm

I’m glad you bought the dress, you deserve to treat yourself. I tend to spend mad cash on purses and boots – items I know I will have for years and won’t go out of style.

Gabriela @ Fro-Yo Lover April 29, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Awwwwwwww – loved this post, Janetha!
Congrats on achieving pratically all your April goals, girl! I knew you could do it :)
Marshall´s really the sweetest :D
Amazing eats and pics, as always!
Have a great night!
Brazilian XOXO´s,
Gabriela
