GREEN.

in meals,moves

you guys! it is uber late and so now this post has to be on the fly.  originally i thought i would be home by about 8:30 or 9 (at the latest!) but now it is past ten PM due to lost dinner reservations and a long, long wait.

enough about that, let’s get to the GREEN!

first of all, last night i made GREEN cupcakes with GREEN frosting and GREEN sprinkles for everyone at the office~

IMG_7920IMG_7921IMG_7922 IMG_7926IMG_7927IMG_7930 IMG_7931

they were a hit :)

want to know my trick to not trying any of my baked goods?  well, i simply made something that i hate. i hate frosting and i hate sprinkles (sorry deb) and to be honest i am not a fan of white cake all that much.

i was going to make cookies with GREEN m&ms.. but i knew better than that! ;)

onto st. patrick’s day eats!!

meals

meal 1: GREEN protein waffles for waffle wednesday! @ 8:30 AM

first i mixed a serving of the BEST pancake/waffle mix ever (and it is local!)

 IMG_7932

along with a scoop of vanilla protein powder and GREEN food coloring..

IMG_7933

viola!

IMG_7934

(yes, i have a waffle iron at work.)

topped with this stuff:

IMG_7936

mmmmm!

IMG_7941IMG_7942

and some black coffee out of my GREEN contigo, naturally.

no time for talking. onto more food.

meal 2: turkey meatloaf muffin wrap with GREEN laughing cow! @ 11:45 AM

IMG_7953

you can see i was sporting a GREEN cardigan.

i figured i couldn’t turn the meatloaf GREEN.. but the laughing cow was definitely a candidate for my bottle of GREEN food coloring.

IMG_7947 IMG_7948

338 calories, 12g fat, 29g carbs, 35g protein

oh an P.S. i made a recipe page for the meatloaf muffins. shocking, i know, i think it was my first recipe page since november!

moving on..

meal 3: GREEN greek yogurt + PBJ + flakes @ 3:00 PM

IMG_7957

this was just a container of voskos with some GREEN food coloring, then i added PB2 and smucker’s sugar free jam (1 TB of each) and 1/3 cup of nature’s path flakes:

IMG_7961

okay, now it is beginning to look a lot like christmas..

IMG_7962

yeah.. that red totally took the fun out of st. patrick’s day and made me think of jolly old st. nick!

IMG_7964

231 calories, 2.5g fat, 27g carbs, 28g protein

alright.. up next.. no, not more colored food.. i actually made it to the gym despite my unexplainable exhaustion i am experiencing this week. maybe food coloring makes me tired?

moves

it was a HIIT day today and my ankles are really bothering me. i think it is my shoes. the inner muscle on both of my ankles and about halfway up my lower leg are ultra sore and sensitive. anyone know why? let me know.

i also rode the bike for 10 minutes and read my new oxygen mag and i have a plethora of stuff i want to ramble about regarding food and fitness.. but that will have to wait for another day. sorry charlies.

after the gym, marshall & i took the dogs on a walk! it was such a nice day today!!

meals

finally.. a GREEN meal that did not involve food coloring!

meal 4: green monster @ 6:45 PM

IMG_7967

in the mix:

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein
  • 2-3 cups spinach
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 small banana
  • tons of ice
  • the gums (which, i believe, are the most important ingredients to any smoothie!)

IMG_7968

can you believe how much it makes?!

IMG_7969

yeah, i still need a bang trim..

IMG_7970

GREEN,au naturale!

IMG_7972

it made way too much for the to-go cup.. so a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right? right.

IMG_7971

drank it on the go!

IMG_7973

311 calories, 6g fat, 37g carbs, 31g protein

we went to the bohemian brewery and met up with a bunch of friends. everyone (well, almost everyone) enjoyed GREEN beer!

 IMG_7975 IMG_7979 IMG_7974 IMG_7981

p.s. someone got a haircut :)

we originally had a reservation for 7 PM and i was just not going to eat (since i had my shake) but there was confusion and 12 people and we ended up not sitting down until almost nine i decided to get something after all..

meal 5: grilled chicken breast + steamed veggies @ 9:30 PM

IMG_7986

ugh.. $9 for a side of veggies and a chicken breast? lame. but it did taste super good!  i am not sure the stats on this because i didn’t make it myself, but i just came up with a round about number of around 250 calories, 8g fat, 15g carbs and 28g protein. sure, ok.

THERE YOU HAVE IT! my super GREEN day of eats!  all in all i ended up with a ratio (carbs/protein/fat) of 39/41/20 so i am stoked! (i am aiming for 40/40/20 so it was perfect!)

i would ramble more but i have got to get some shut eye. i have a lot to talk about regarding questions i have been asked about body for life and also about upcoming goals! stay tuned!

Qs~

1. what green eats did you incorporate into your st. patrick’s day?

2. what is your favorite color? right now mine is purple. maybe i will color ALL my food purple one of these days…

xo. janetha b.

p.s. EXACTLY 4 months until i’m a MRS.!! EEP!

Tay March 17, 2010 at 10:00 pm

Green green green all around! Your cupcakes look like cupcake tops! I don’t see the whole cupcake for some reason! haha. I hate sprinkles too. No flavor. Or some fake plastic flavor.

1. I honestly didn’t have any green today. Oh wait. Broccoli!
2. Pink and orange. I LOVE that combo.

Michelle March 17, 2010 at 10:00 pm

Love all the green! I am embarrassed to admit I did not eat a single green thing today :-( Just blue and red … That’s really poor even for a non-St.Patty’s Day day.

Fave color: pink all the way! All shades of it. And turquoise too.

kbwood March 17, 2010 at 10:03 pm

you have got to be the cutest person EVER! i love your fun spirit! AHH! LOVE the shake too!
i had BRUSSEL SPROUTS TODAY
fav color-ORANGE BABY!

Jenn N. March 17, 2010 at 10:09 pm

My fav color is aqua.

Carbzilla March 17, 2010 at 10:10 pm

Girl – you are going to poop GREEN!

I had Trader Joes Beans and Greens…does that count?

I miss Marshall’s hair. He had great hair. How’s he wearing for the big day?

shegoesbananas March 17, 2010 at 10:11 pm

Green Laughing Cow! No you didn’t! So funny.

I had green beans, broccoli, snap peas, spring mix (mostly green), and spinach (in my monster!). It was a green veggie day for me! My favorite colors are green and pink, but mostly you can find me wearing at least one pink article of clothing everyday! It’s sort of ridic.

I can’t believe you are getting married in 4 months!!! That’s so soon!!!! Good luck with the rest of the planning.

sophia March 17, 2010 at 10:19 pm

ohmigosh. Did you know green is my favorite color?! I love all the funky greenness in this post…it makes me so excited and intrigued when I see a funky-colored food!

Ahhh! You’re gonna be a Mrs SO soon! how is the wedding planning coming along? It must be crazy hectic!

Run Sarah March 17, 2010 at 10:24 pm

I seriously LOVE the green in this post. You are too fun! Love your outfit/owl necklace too.

Alyson @ Nourished Fitness March 17, 2010 at 11:21 pm

Love it.. I was totally armed & dangerous with my bottle of green food coloring today :)

Lauren March 18, 2010 at 3:45 am

OMG, you totally win the best day of Green Eats yesterday!!! Now that is really getting into the St. Patty’s Day spirit!!! :)

Way to celebrate! :)

Love you to death my dear. ;)

Lindsay March 18, 2010 at 3:57 am

I love that Christmas yogurt! AWESOME!!! That should be a christmas morning tradition, haha! We had green eggs today, they were tasty. I love those waffle though, and the laughing cow cheese looks like the icing you hate. You made my day, this post was too fun!

balancejoyanddelicias March 18, 2010 at 3:57 am

wooo!!! your food got really green!!! I’ve never thought of adding food coloring for that… I just simply ate more green food!
fav color for food=green and orange.
for color for cloth=white and pink!

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is March 18, 2010 at 3:59 am

Holy green food! I don’t think I ate any besides some spinach in my smoothie. I love pink and purple. I am such a girl!

Katie March 18, 2010 at 4:05 am

Cute owl necklace. :)

Marisa (Loser for Life) March 18, 2010 at 4:32 am

Wow! You went all out with the green! You are so creative :)

mayapamela March 18, 2010 at 4:48 am

lessonstolearn March 18, 2010 at 5:14 am

I had some spinach yesterday…. I think that’s about it. Nice work incorporating so much green. Very festive!

Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) March 18, 2010 at 5:17 am

Haha…so much GREEN going on in this post. I *love* it!

I tried going with a green monster, but it did not come out its normal fluorescent green (blueberries will do that I guess…haha.) I’m wishing I would have made green waffles now. They look so fun! :D

Jenna March 18, 2010 at 5:17 am

lovin all those green food/drinks! soo cool :)

Miranda March 18, 2010 at 5:23 am

That is so fantastic!! I made a green angel food cake with green whip cream for my kiddos!!!

healthyappletite March 18, 2010 at 5:27 am

what protein powder do you use? xx

bre March 18, 2010 at 5:36 am

PUT THE COOD COLORING DOWN AND NOBODY GETS HURT!

I could not handle the cheese haha, I know its in my head but eww! Love it though was fun to read about. My mom does the same cup cakes but uses pastachio pudding mix in the cake to turn it green and be real moist mmmm

I love purple too. I just got some grey purple and yellow nikes I heart!

4 months is so exciting!

Lindsay March 18, 2010 at 5:43 am

So close! Those 4 months will fly! Oh my gosh I cannot imagine the state of your toilet after all that dye…hahaha you definately ate enough green for the both of us! I didn’t drink, didn’t wear green, and the most Irish thing I ate was a sweet potato. However, I did have a happy day, so that was great!

Amy (Up and Running!) March 18, 2010 at 6:00 am

I was very lame for St. Pattie’s…maybe it’s because I’m not yet 21 and can’t FULLY enjoy the holiday ;-) haha.

I had a similar problem with my right ankle and my parents took me to this runner’s store for my birthday. They filmed my feet as I ran on a treadmill (so awkward) and measured my pressure points then looked at it all…turns out I roll my ankles baaad when I run. They fitted me with insoles for my shoes and its per-fect now. Might want to get it checked out b/c I know that is super painful.

Jocelyn March 18, 2010 at 6:09 am

Hey girlie. Love all of your green food :) I hope you are not sensitive to food coloring…I once made green pancakes for kids at work…and a poor boy had green poops for a week after! LOL..:):)

Abby (Nibble, Nourish, Run) March 18, 2010 at 6:10 am

Lady – you officially win the most St. Patrick’s Day spirit award…! All I did was drink a green monster…pales in comparison to your day ‘o green eats!

Oh and my favorite color is pink…what can I say I’m a girl?

Therese March 18, 2010 at 6:19 am

AHHHHH only four months!!! Oh and Marshall looks super handsome with a shaved head ;)

I am in love with all the green in your food! Especially the green laughing cow. It actually kind of reminded me the slime from Nickelodeon when we were kids.

Ummm your trick for not eating baked goods would never work for me…I’ve never met a baked treat I didn’t like :(

Allie (Protein Girl) March 18, 2010 at 6:29 am

Are you peeing green? I’m a sucker for white cake with frosting, although I prefer yellow cake. Which is why I NEVER, EVER make it.

Baking is a recipe for disaster…

xoxo,

A

Karin March 18, 2010 at 6:48 am

Girl I LOVE your necklace!! And all the green eats! (I must admit that the green greek yogurt and LC looks a bit scary though ;)).
I had broccoli and spinach yesterday so I guess that counts ;).
Marsh’s haircut looks great and kind of cute! Though my boyfriend told me not to call guys “cute”, haha.

Kelly March 18, 2010 at 6:51 am

Love all the green foods!! You are so FUN!

Lee March 18, 2010 at 7:10 am

I forgot to wear green yesterday. I got pinched a lot. Oops.

I’ll be a Mrs. in 100 days!!

Susan March 18, 2010 at 7:16 am

You are so festive! I love it! I can’t lie though, I don’t know if I could eat the laughing cow if it was green haha. Not a fan of green beer either. I like Dr. Suess’s green eggs and ham though! There’s a good book…

Karissa @ CardioFoodie March 18, 2010 at 7:16 am

I had GM, green salsa, and green salad. I seriously dislike wearing green, but I toughed it out!

Love the green waffles, looks so fun

MelissaNibbles March 18, 2010 at 7:22 am

My favorite color is green but I forgot to wear it yesterday :(

You’ve inspired me to do another BFL challenge. I’m trying to gain weight and I know BFL works for me and your eats always look so tasty. I’m excited!

Naomi(onefitfoodie) March 18, 2010 at 7:38 am

i LOVE purpple too! and red!

this post had me smiling from start to finish…no one else took on st pattys day like you did, Janetha :) green everything is genious and so simple, thanks to some food coloring!!

I am SO with you, I am not a fan of white cake or frosting, that just does nothing for me, so I have no problem baking that because I am not tempted to eat it at all!

Now, if i were to bake brownies or cookies or if there was an ice cream cake…then I would be in trouble!

GREEN WAFFLES!!!! love em and love you!

Graze With Me March 18, 2010 at 8:00 am

I do the same thing when it come to baked goods. I have very specific tastes when it comes to cakes and frosting so it helps if I make something I don’t want. I do the same thing with Halloween candy – just buy the stuff I don’t like.

I love your green waffles!!!

Favorite color? Ha, actually it’s green. Or silver sometimes…

Haleigh March 18, 2010 at 8:04 am

I am obsessed with all the GREEN in this post :) Especially the green monster and green beer!… fabulous!! I am 100% with you on the whole white cake with frosting thing. I can’t live without my sweets but a sugar overload with sprinkles just doesn’t do it for me. A creamy lindt bar of chocolate, on the other hand, most definitely does do it for me. Happy St. Patrick’s (yesterday)!!

lowandbhold March 18, 2010 at 8:20 am

I had a green monster, but that’s it. Not sure I have a favorite color. Right now I might say yellow…

Love all the green food! XOXO my dear :)

peanutbutterfingers March 18, 2010 at 8:45 am

you were one heck of a green girl, huh!? impressive! i love your holiday spirit!

Jamie (beautyandthebeef) March 18, 2010 at 8:46 am

I things I ate that were green were lettuce, spinach, and avocado, nothing FUN but at least healthy!

Merry Mary March 18, 2010 at 8:57 am

Green food coloring IS something good! I love this post so much. I can’t believe all the good green stuff you made! :) I wish I had made some green things.

My favorite color is red. :)

ksgoodeats March 18, 2010 at 9:00 am

The green laughing cow and green Greek yogurt are perfect!! Haha! My favorite color is pink :)

4 months?! Holy Shmoly! Time is going to fly by!!

Angharad March 18, 2010 at 9:06 am

You are going to be a missus! That makes my heart happy. Marshall also looks super cute with his shaved head…I’m a sucker for them-Dan’s head is shaved too :)

I don’t know that I ate anything green yesterday! Oh wait, there was a pickle served with the burger and fries I had at lunch so I will count that!

Funnily enough, my favourite colour is actually green! Love. xx

Dawn (HealthySDLiving) March 18, 2010 at 9:08 am

HAHA I love all of your green food! :) Omg 4 months? That is so exciting–love following the planning process!

april March 18, 2010 at 9:08 am

You are so cute with all your green!!

Tina March 18, 2010 at 9:39 am

Wow, time is going by fast that there is only 4 months til the wedding. Awesome! :D

All that green food was great. Although the laughing cow would have weirded me out. It looks like frosting. LOL

My favorite color = green! It has been my favorite for forever.

Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) March 18, 2010 at 9:43 am

I love all of the green food! How fun. The waffles turned out beautifully.

I had a green juice yesterday and that was it. I am lameeee!

My favorite color is purple too. Love it!

Paige @ Running Around Normal March 18, 2010 at 9:44 am

Oh man Janetha, you crack me up, girl! I love it :D
Green EVERYTHING. I seriously started busting up laughing in my cubicle when I saw the laughing cow cheese was even green.
Sorry about the late night and the unexplainable exhaustion. I hope that gets better soon!!
