love pies! how was your monday? if it was less than rad, not to worry, you don’t have to endure another one for six more days. high five.

thank you for all the input regarding what pages you would like to see me add on my blog. majority rules and a FAQ page will probably be coming first.

SO.. in order for that to happen.. i would like to compile some Qs from my readers. i already have a few that i am asked on a daily basis, but i could use a few more to really make the page worthwhile, ja know? okay, thanks.

i would do a tally of what green veggies you guys like best, but my computer has less than half its battery life right now and i left the charger at marshall’s, so this has got to be snappy. snap snap, you all love broccoli, moving on.

meals

meal 1: eggbeaters & oats & coffee

IMG_6976

i doused the oats in cinnamon after the photo. and while we are on the subject of dousing, i also did a number on my eggbeaters with the bottle of cholula:

IMG_6975

the gal who waits on us every monday at our weekly sales meeting meal noticed my new bling on my finger and asked if i had always been engaged. while i wanted to come back with a catty remark like, “yeah, since i was nine,” i refrained and told her about the recent proposal.

she was ecstatic and brought me a nutella filled crepe smothered in real whipped cream and berries:

IMG_6972

gee, thanks, i think i gained 18 lbs just looking at that thing.

i LOVE crepes, but to be honest, i don’t love chocolate on crepes or in pancakes or anything of the like.. so i passed. i did have one bite of the un-chocolate-stuffed end. it’s the thought that counts! that was so nice of her.

am i a loser that i preferred my eggbeaters and oatmeal? no way dude. i am a winner.

meal 2: hot turkey & cheddar & hummus wrap

IMG_6977

this was a flat out stuffed with smoked turkey, classic sabra, tillamook cheddar~ all heated up in the microwave and then topped with some lettuce before rolling up and devouring.

IMG_6978

‘twas delish.

moves

today was a cardio day for me. i will have to type up my new workout outline soon so y’all can see what i am up to in order to prep for the wedding. but for now, i will just show you today’s workout:

5 mile/50 minute treadmill interval workout

minute # speed (MPH) incline
0-1 4.0 0
1-2 4.5 0
2-3 5.0 0
3-4 5.5 0
4-5 6.0 0
5-6 6.5 0
6-7 7.0 0
7-8 7.5 0
8-9 8.0 0
9-10 8.5 0
10-20 repeat minutes 0-10 0
20-30 repeat minutes 0-10 0
30-40 repeat minutes 0-10 0
40-45 4.0 (jog) NOT HOLDING ON 15
45-50 6.0 0

i cooled down for 5 minutes with a 3.0 walk/0 incline.

total time: 55 minutes, total distance: 5.2 miles, max HR: 178, ave HR: 146, calories burned: 425

this workout kicked some treadmill butt. sure, i averaged a 10 minute mile which is pretty slow, but because i ran intervals the whole time, my heart rate was all over the place. this is optimal for fat loss~ which i am aiming for.

actually, you may be surprised to hear that my highest HR was during the 4.0 MPH jog at a 15 incline. that was amazing. it was a real challenge not to hold onto the side bars for support during the last part of the 5 minutes!

if you are bored with treadmills then give this one a try, it is nice because you change your speed each minute so it keeps you somewhat entertained :)

OH and i am right on track for my mileage goal~ i’ve finally updated the page here.

meals

meal 3: green monsterrrrr.

 IMG_6989

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
  • handful blueberries
  • ice
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • spinachhh

IMG_6991IMG_6992 IMG_6995IMG_6994

YUM.

and now i am typing this. dinner will most likely be a cheetahs and chicken fingers and fifth meal will probs be chobani :)

WEDDING STUFF!

so, you guys will probably be hearing me ramble a LOT about wedding stuff over the course of the next 144 days, 23 hours and 13 minutes. yeah, i have a countdown feature on my phone and i plugged in “the big day”.

are you saying “whaaaaaa?” to the short amount of time 144 days calculats out to? yeah, a little over twenty weeks. yep, just under five months.

i am getting married on july 17th. of this year.

after i mentioned that our date was a popular one, some of you thought i was getting married on 10-10-10 or 9-10-11 or 8-9-10… all really fabulous dates which i ADORE because i am a total numbers geek. yes, i immediately first checked out 8-9-10 only to find that it landed on a monday. bummer.

we picked 7-17-10 for a few reasons. here they are:

  • we want to buy a house before the $8000 tax credit deadline (which they will most likely extend, but you never know) and in order to do this, we have to close on a house by july 1. we can’t live in said house that we buy until after we are married (call me old fashioned) and so the sooner we get married, the sooner we can live in said house. which we are currently hunting for, but that is a whole other story.
  • we want to get married and go on our honeymoon before school starts. both marshall and i will be going back to school this fall and so if we were to marry in august, september, october.. we would have to miss class to go on a honeymoon and that is never fun. i already hate playing makeup/catchup at work after a vacation~ i don’t need to pile school catchup on top of that.
  • july 17th is national peach ice cream day. yes, this played a vital role in our decision. it was either the 17th or july 31st~ national raspberry cake day. both are great, but ice cream trumps cake every day of the year. and marshall and i LOOOVE peaches.
  • the final deciding factor in us picking 7-17-10 is the number significance. can you see it? i will let you figure that one out. and that is also the reason that a lot of places were already booked. who knew there were so many number geeks out there? i am not alone.  but i do believe they were not picking the date based on the national food holiday.. i think i may be alone on that one. what can i say, i am a foodie.

so there you have it. that is the date and it is set and IT IS SOON.

i know lots of people have long engagements, but marshall and i are excited to finally get married. our 3rd year dating anniversary is in july so we have done the “four seasons” plan a few times over. oh, in case you aren’t sure what that is, it has always been a rule that you have to date someone for all four seasons to make sure you can handle them year round before marrying them ;)

plus, we live 40 miles apart right now so the sooner we get hitched, the sooner i can stop commuting to and from his house. I CAN’T WAIT. yay!

okay, so that is that! as i mentioned in my last post, we found a venue for our ceremony and wedding on saturday and we went ahead and booked it. so exciting! now it is official and i can start looking for my dress.

but, of course, i am a food-crazed maniac and have several catering consultation appointments set and have not even set a single dress appointment. priorities, people.

one thing we have booked in addition to the location is a photo booth. i was never one of those girls who dreamed about her wedding and what it would be like, but there were always TWO things i knew i had to have at my wedding:

  • a photo booth
  • vanilla bean ice cream

i know, pretty high maintenance, right?

other than that, the plans are still in the works. i was going to ask a few questions to those of you who are married and have gone through the whole wedding process, so please answer those questions at the end. pllllease. please. thanks.

as far as getting in shape for the wedding goes.. well, i am happy that i don’t have much to do aside from some toning up.  it makes me happy that i have been working hard at getting in shape prior to even knowing i would be having a wedding this year.

crazy how that works. i honestly had not one tiny thought that i would get married this year.

anyway… i do want to do some surrrious toning, mainly on my upper body. my arms and back are going to get some one-on-one time in these next 20 weeks.  i will be coming up with a game plan and, of course, will devote a page to the plan much like i did with my jamaican me bikini ready plan.

my mom, sister in law and i are going to go get our body fat tested to see where we are right now, and then our goal is to improve that number before the wedding. i think this is a great way to keep my maintaining in check and keep myself from gaining any weight.

anyway~ i think that is enough wedding rambling for one post. i will leave you with a couple smoothie stache photos that i received while i was in jamaica and totally forgot to post! i am working on cleaning out my email inbox and came across these ones~

danica!

you ladies could be smoothie cover girls.

oh and a certain someone wanted to see more of these two, so here you go!IMG_5452

doggers 019 IMG_4378 IMG_4992

they love each other so much!

okay~ my computer is about to DIE so i better hit publish! talk to you all tomorrow!

Qs~

1. what question would you like me to answer on my upcoming FAQ page? okay, not really a question for you.. more for me.. ready, go!

2. if you are married.. can you tell me approximately how much you spent on a) photography b) food and c) invitations?  i am trying to get a feel of what dollar amount is average. most photographers i have looked at are between $2000-$3000 and i want to know what is standard. also, food has priced out around $4000-$5000 and i haven’t even looked into invitations yet. i want to hire quality people but i don’t want to get royally screwed when it comes to $$$~ so if you have any input on what an average price for a, b and c are i would REALLY appreciate it! mwah!

wow, both of those questions sure were selfish, weren’t they? how about a bonus one to make it less self-centered, i feel weird.

3. what is your favorite thing to put inside of a crepe? i am more a fan of savory crepes~ think cheese, meat, veggies! yum! mushroom and cheddar is a pretty stellar stuffing.

thanks in advance for your input!!

xo. janetha b.

edited to add: right when i hit publish, my laptop died. grumble. i had to drive to my office to get my extra charger. it took a long time and it was creepy to go to my office so late at night. that is bloggie dedication right there, folks ;)

plamarie February 22, 2010 at 9:38 pm

That was very sweet of the server to bring you the crepe. Nutella, no! You did better with your breakfast though. So excited about the wedding bliss and liked the reason for the date choice ;) I ordered my invites from http://www.weddingpaperdivas.com/ I think we paid $150-$200 for them

mom February 22, 2010 at 9:52 pm

Yummy crepe, I would have inhaled it right on the spot!! Glad you were safe running to get the charger – I wouldn’t have been so dedicated. You already know how much I spent – didn’t have more than 2 zeros in the amount hahaha!! xoxo love you sweetie!

Allie (Live Laugh Eat) February 22, 2010 at 9:52 pm

Sarah W. February 22, 2010 at 9:59 pm

we had 120 ppl show up to our wedding (I think we invited some 150) DC area (Frederick, MD)

Invitations & Envelops = $220 (my mothers first cousin owns her own stationary business in her home

Addressing of Envelopes = $102 (it was so easy and worth the cost to have a printer print our envelopes)

2 Photographers & 1 Videographer = $3,200 (I would have been willing to spend up to $5k on photography)

Food: $16,500. The cost also included whatever fees for having the ceremony held there, etc etc. We had our ceremony & reception in 1 place. We also had an extra half hour added to the reception (which we didnt really need, people had thinned out by then) 4.5hrs was enough! We had Open Bar of Beer/Wine/Champagne because we had a Sunday 2pm wedding :-p

Don’t wanna freak you out, but we spent $24k on a modest wedding (it adds up fast!). We also tried our best to keep costs down when we could. Hubby’s mother was one of 12 siblings, so we had alot of family to invite!

I HIGHLY recommend you join http://www.theknot.com the message boards there are SO helpful – make sure you find your LOCAL msg board specific to the area you will be married in. Email me if you need more info! I STILL have my wedding budget spreadsheet tracker in my laptop (which is why I was able to look up costs for you!) plus I still have my guestlist (along with what gift we received) hahaha i’m crazy.

kbwood February 22, 2010 at 10:03 pm

YAY FOR WEDDINGS!
the last wedding i went to they had a photobooth AND a candy bar..it was awesome!
YOU are going to be the hottest most beautiful little bride EVER…for real!
love you!

Mona February 22, 2010 at 10:05 pm

You’re getting married on my sisters 18th birthday, nice!

I thought of some questions for ya! Some foodie ones, and some complete random ones, just for kicks :)

1. What is your favorite color of nail polish?
2. Have you ever struggled with bad body image, or disordered eating?
3. Name five foods that you could NEVER give up.
4. When you are 70 years old, where do you want to live?
5. Do you read fashion magazines? If so, which ones?

Lauren February 22, 2010 at 10:10 pm

I love hearing your plans and as someone who got engaged at the end of January, and married on July 3rd-you won’t regret it! A shorter engagement was amazing! Our wedding was unbelievably affordable, but I know we had some sweet connections, so that helped. My parents paid for the whole wedding (200 person dinner) and our all- inclusive Cancun honeymoon for a total of $10,000. Our photographer was wonderful and only $1200! We also had invitations that folded down and all that was mailed back was a postcard! I just wanted something functional, affordable, pretty, and enviro friendly. If you want to know the brand, I can do some google searching (can’t remember right now). If you want more details or money saving tips, just let me know! Good luck, Janetha! You are going to be a beautiful bride!

Tay February 22, 2010 at 10:16 pm

Eeeee wedding!!! Ummm 7+10=17?? Is that the significant part? I love how peach ice cream played a role. Atta girl!!

snackface February 22, 2010 at 10:25 pm

I have recently found that I’m no longer wanting to order crepes, pancakes and french toast when out, either. I love those things, but all I really want is a bite or two. But eggs and toast…ready to chow down.

Yea, can’t figure out this date thang! Ah! I don’t work well with numbers.

Thank you for the extra puppy pics. They are toooo frickin cute.

Uhhh, I gotta come back with a Q! And I don’t think it’s selfish to ask Qs that serve you! You offer fabulous advice to thousands on the reg!

Fave thang inside a crepe…don’t know but I’m imagining a Greek-inspired crepe with spinach, feta and kalamata olives would be ridiculous.

Love you! xoxo

kyko February 22, 2010 at 10:26 pm

I’ll be a creeper and ask some personal fitness/food type questions:
how tall are you, how old are you (sorry!) and how many calories do you eat per day? You’re very active!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) February 22, 2010 at 10:43 pm

Mrs. Susie Homemaker, would you like to buy my house? It’s brand new and in Phoenix. The house is great and perfect, I just want to be in San Diego :)

Wedding. $299 in Las Vegas that included fake plastic rose bouquet, a limo ride to city hall for our permit, a Kodak disposable camera with 24 pics on it, and the ceremony. 10 yrs later, it all worked out just fine. We took the 20k give or take we woulda spent on a wedding and partied our asses off for a few years :) And went on mega vacations all the time. Ahh, it was great and i highly recommend it!

Merry Mary February 22, 2010 at 10:48 pm

Yay for weddings! I love hearing about your plans. ;)

questions for you… ahhh…. um… Why did you start blogging?

i haven’t had many crepes, but i loved ones that included banana.

Julia February 22, 2010 at 10:50 pm

Yay I love reading about your wedding details!
My photographer is $1300 (doesn’t include anything except the actual wedding day shoot and the digital photos). He’s a prof. where I went to college and was one of the most reasonably priced I could find.
Food for around 200 for us is also going to be about $4000 (plated dinner, chicken entree).
I was just at a law school event where there was a photobooth and now I’m kind of sad we’re not having one :(
Have a great Tuesday! And if you have any other planning questions feel free to email me, after all I’m getting married one week after you!

Hillary February 22, 2010 at 11:05 pm

I can’t wait to plan my wedding, but for I’ll continue to live vicariously through you right now. Keep the fun details coming!

Stef @ moretolifethanlettuce February 22, 2010 at 11:23 pm

i am beyond excited for your wedding and all of the planning that comes along with it! yay! it’ll be great when you don’t have to commute back and forth too. natl peach ice cream day haha! you’re going back to school? for what? awesome!

Jenn N. February 23, 2010 at 12:13 am

You are so cute “peach ice cream day”!!!

FAQs – How did you learn to cook?

Wedding details – We got lucky and got a ton of stuff for out wedding for cheap or for free…it was a good thing b/c we were broke. Awesome location at Westmont College for free. A photographer friend from San Fran came down and did our pictures for $600 or something ridiculously cheap. We focused on making our wedding funky rather than fancy…it saved on cash and was memorable. We had a Lego theme. Our reception was in an art gallery and a bunch of our friends brought art to hang. We only served or’dourves so we saved a bunch there I think we paid like $2000 or less for food. Other than the catering our cake was the next most expensive thing. It was a stacked square Lego cake. It was cute but not that cute for what we paid for it. I’m afraid I’m not really much of a help since we sort of just threw our wedding together. I will say this…we’ve been married for almost 11 years and thinking back I could not care less about the details. However, I am glad we have cool pictures. I think that is really worth it!!

Crepes – LOVE curry chicken crepes. Yum!

Niki February 23, 2010 at 12:24 am

I cant wait to hear more about the wedding, a lot of my friends are going through wedding planning right now and it is so very exciting. i was actually going to school for wedding and event planning for a time a few years ago. there is so much too think about, enjoy it!

Naomi (onefitfoodie) February 23, 2010 at 4:05 am

OMG I cannot wait to hear everything about your wedding, the food, dress, venue, speeches EVERYTHING!!

crepes, I do like them sweet but not THAT sweet that the waitress brought you. think PB and jam or cottage cheese and cinnamon, just not chocolatey stuff either!

walking uphill on the treadmill is KILLER for your heartrate, mine can get very high adn just walking up hill really steep! its awesome! sometimes I orefer that so I am giving my knees a little break ya know? always good to change it up in the gym!!

is marshall moving in with you when you get married? so exciting!!

hayleycepeda February 23, 2010 at 4:32 am

I went to a wedding that had a photo booth and it was one of the coolest things I’d ever seen. We were already married at the time otherwise I would’ve done borrowed the idea! I still have our pics from that day on our fridge. :)

I’ll have to ask my parents ~how much some of that stuff ended up costing. One thing I remember everyone telling me is not to skimp on the photographer. Ours was NOT cheap, but we have the most beautiful album, pictures and video (that I’ve watched and cried over 1000 times).

I am SOOOOOO excited for you!!!! The best advice I can give is not to get too overwhelmed and enjoy EVERY MOMENT of it!! Time flies….

I much prefer savory crepes over sweet ones. My mom has a recipe for crepes called “Crepes Versailles” and they are TO DIE FOR!! She makes the crepes from scratch and everything. That was sweet of the waitress though!

This isn’t an exciting question, but I’m curious to know (and sorry if you’ve already mentioned it) are you back to doing BFL style eating or are you still doing the Jamaican-me-bikini-ready diet?

Lindsay February 23, 2010 at 4:47 am

OUr wedding was small and on the beach in Hawaii (where we used to live) so we could spend more on the fun stuff like FOOD, BAND, little gifts, etc. I think all together it cost $10,000 or so but we had to pay for air fare too, that was PRICEY! Yur wedding will be a BLAST!
Oh and I love crepes stuffed with cottage cheese and spinach. Healthy, kinda?
LC

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is February 23, 2010 at 4:48 am

COngrats on picking a date girl! We planned our wedding in about 7 months so it is totally do-able. We also got married on 10-10, but it was in 08. :) July will be a beautiful time!!

Karin February 23, 2010 at 4:58 am

It’s so exciting to hear about your plans! You’re going to be such a stunning bride!!!
Never gotten married so I have no tips at all (the first thing I thought after reading your post and the comments was “What? A wedding is that expensive??” so obviously I have no clue).
The crepe looks great but not after a full meal.. I love me some chocolate crepes! Mmm…

Lauren February 23, 2010 at 5:06 am

Oh girl, let the planning begin!!!!

Okay, I am totally here for you. It wasn’t too long ago that I planned mine. I also wanted to do some toning and that is when I started going to the gym and weight lifting. I wanted to feel amazing and if I was going to spend 1000 on a dress, you better believe I was going to look like a knock out in that thing! But don’t go crazy because you will already be super crazy with other things. Use exercise as your release not as another form of commitment and stressor. Trust me!

The thing that we spent the most on was our photography. This was something I was willing to shell out bit bucks for because it was really important to me. We also chose the Pictobook for our album which is so much more money but worth every single penny. The Pictobooks are sensational and will last FOREVER!!!

Okay, I’ll be back with more later. Gotta run!
<3 you sweetpea!

Haleigh February 23, 2010 at 5:22 am

Nutella/banana crepes are my favorite. When I went to Paris, the streets smelled of crepes, delicious pastries and bread. However, the crepes that I have ordered back in the states don’t taste like the Parisian crepes. Crepes from Paris are more “eggy”?? I don’t know exactly… I found the perfect recipe for them though. So many exciting things coming up for you soon!! I am so excited for you :)

Lara February 23, 2010 at 5:52 am

Shorter engagements are so much better IMO. Why wait ya know? Mine was almost 6 months. As for costs, I had a very small destination wedding on the beach with just our immediate families so costs were very different than your typical wedding however I recommend to make your photography budget the highest priority. After the flowers die, the food and booze consumed, dress shoved in the back of a closet (or donated!) the pictures are what you have left to “show” for the day. There is such a huge difference in quality/artistry between great photographers and good photographers. My two cents!

Enjoy the planning, it can be so much fun. The Bridal Industry is a huge machine, don’t give into it. Seriously they play on your emotions, making you think you need x,y,z to have a beautiful wedding and most of those x,y,z things are so NOT important. In the end what matters most is you are married to your soul mate, not that the seat covers had piping on them or what not.

Lara February 23, 2010 at 6:02 am

oh forgot to ask how are you getting your body fat tested

fightingwithfood February 23, 2010 at 6:16 am

I had just over a year to plan my wedding – I can’t imagine doing it in 5 months! Enjoy every second of it, because it will fly!
Cost really depends on the area you live in. I am in the Va Beach area of VA, and we spent about $4000 on photography (we wanted to devote a big budget chunk to this), $8000 on food/beverages (another big chunk on this) and I made my own invitations at a grand total of abotu $225 (not including postage). You can see everything here: http://heidiandsteven.weebly.com/index.html

Cat February 23, 2010 at 6:27 am

I just booked our photographer for $3200, & that was with a 15% off deal. I’ve been told this is about normal for a good photography. On the other hand, my friend had her uncle be her photography at her wedding, & he obviously gave her a great deal. I guess it depends what you want!

inmytummy February 23, 2010 at 6:30 am

A photobooth is awesome. I spent $3500 on photography and am about to spend roughly $400 on invitations (not including postage). I am getting my invites from weddingpaperdivas.com. They have a bunch of cute stuff.

Just a note about the $8000 tax credit. In addition to closing by 6/31, you also have to be in a binding contract by 4/30. Keep that in mind!

ksgoodeats February 23, 2010 at 6:32 am

Oh wow! That’s so soon!! I can’t wait to see all of the planning come together though. I have wedding fever these days after being asked to be a bridesmaid so I LOVE hearing everyone else’s details.

I’ve never had a savory crepe but I went to TOWN on a Nutella/Banana crepe in Paris with the bestie. Twas delish. By the way, I hope you got my email, if not let me know :)

RunToFinish February 23, 2010 at 6:38 am

Since my wedding was a disaster, I won’t give you the price there, but the photographer was AMAZING and she was 3200 for 2 photogs and I received cd’s of the images so I could order them on my own for much cheaper. She also provided proofs of every image, which was great because they didn’t have proof stamped on them I could just use those photos too!

MelissaNibbles February 23, 2010 at 6:45 am

Congratulations! You can definitely plan it. My friend planned her wedding in a month. It can be done :)

Tina February 23, 2010 at 6:47 am

We did the same thing with waiting to live together until after we were married. I really think it made living together that much more special and exciting!!

Our wedding was pretty cheap (about $6000 total) because we went through a venue that did everything at a really reasonable price. Ours was also small (75 guests) and we got the photography for free since my uncle is a photographer. Weddings add up fast! The biggest thing I can say is save on the flowers. Not many people notice those as much as the entertainment and the food. And a high quality photographer is good because you want your moments captured creatively. Are you in the Indiana area at all? I cant remember, sorry! But if you are, my friend Mandy is amazing and charges really good rates. Her website is mandyleonardsphotography.com

julie February 23, 2010 at 6:58 am

ahhh so sooon!!!!!!!! :) thats so exciting!!! i hope you’re continuously tuned into the wedding central channel (177 over on the east coast optimum)

..i still dont get the main reason why it’s that day? i might be a retard hahaha

my best friend is getting married in june and i was there when they got their invitations and they spent $1500 which i thought was REALLY high but her mom is also paying for the food/venue part which cost her $20k for a Friday night party which involves the ceremony, food, etc…yes i know weddings are ridic on long island. people have to take loans out on a daily basis for this shiiz

LindsayRuns February 23, 2010 at 7:10 am

I honestly don’t remember how much we spent (except my dress…but that is a lock the door and swallow the key secret between my mom and I!) but I will go back and look for ya.
Word of advice regarding those purchases though: square invites cost more to mail and I think print (but they are so pretty, I went for it anyways) Research your photographer. This was my biggest mistake. I went with my best friend’s photographer and in reality he wasn’t really my style. I really wish I went with a more artistic guy. Also I knew he would be slow, but now he has disappeared off the face of the earth, and here I am, today is my 2nd anniversary and I have no photo album still. Very sad. So, get a timeline from them too.

And, food is important, we made sure we ate by doing a buffet, and after the introduction, Patrick and I went first through the line, chowed down at our sweetheart table, and then went around to each table while people were eating to meet and greet. Soo glad we did it that way.

Exciting stuff!

Pat Braithwaite February 23, 2010 at 7:13 am

Janetha,
I think pictures are so important. We used an awesome photographer for Andrea and Shera. His name is Robert Dyer. I spent quite a bit, but it was worth it. When I got married my pictures weren’t the best and that was a big regret. After all, those are the memories you will treasure when it’s all over!! Can’t wait to get together with you and Sue. Hope it’s soon.

I am a number geek too. I looked at 7-17-10 and came up with some stuff. I always do math in my head!
I honestly don’t know what I spent on anything. My catering was included in the place, but was a little higher b/c it was kosher. I would splurge on a photographer though. you’ll have that forever. Also (just my opinion), favors are unnecessary. Do a candy buffet instead!
for crepes…nutella and berries! Or for savory I love ones with herbs in the crepe and veggies and goat cheese

i love the idea of the photobooth :)

ah, so exciting about the wedding coming up! Nick and I dated for 8 months and had an 8 month long engagement, so we were pretty quick to get hitched ;)

I don’t see the pattern….07-17-10, 071710? Or is it nothing to do with the date? What’s the significance? My brain can’t do this sort of thing. Help me! :) Your wedding date is two days before Dave & I’s 6 year dating anniversary.

Our entire wedding budget was about $15,000. Here’s what I remember about the biggest expenses.

Photographer: $2000, included unlimited photographs for 5 hours, 100 4×6 prints, a hard-cover 10 page, full-bleed photo album and all rights to the photos including the copyright. <— make sure you get this!

Caterer: $3500, included appetizers, salad, main buffet, wine, champagne and beer.

Venue: $3700 – all linens, chairs, silverware and decoration included. On site was an old Victorian house where Dave and I stayed the night after the wedding as well.

I can't help you out with the invitations – I designed my own and printed them for free at my work. :) Ahh, the perks of FedEx Office.

Loving hearing about the wedding!!!!!!!! YEEEEHA! I am so excited for you :D

1. what question would you like me to answer on my upcoming FAQ page? okay, not really a question for you.. more for me.. ready, go! I want to know about this plan to go back to school! What are you studying? What is Marshall doing? What do you guys know now? I know your boss is rad and you go on cool trips, but no idea what your job is right now. I will think of more questions, am sure. OOOOH what did yo want to be when you grew up? (can you tell that I am obsessed with jobs/careers?!)

2. if you are married.. can you tell me approximately how much you spent on a) photography b) food and c) invitations? I am a singleton.

3. what is your favorite thing to put inside of a crepe? I had an awesome banana and nutella one in Paris. BUT, I had an amazing spinach and ricotta one once too and I think now, savoury ones would be my thing- ratataouille and mozzarella?

I’m married but I never got “married” if you know what I mean so I’ll pass on those…buuuut.
Crepes: i love a nutella crepe personally. I also love fancy cheese and mushrooms. WIN.

Ahhh! I’m so excited for you! I like that you’re being old-fashioned too :)

As far as $$$ on those things, I’d say don’t try to find a bargain photographer. Those pictures will be something you can hold onto forever and they will always be special. Go with someone you feel a connection with and whose work speaks to you. Maybe they’ll be affordable, maybe it’ll be expensive. Either way… it’s worth it.

Foods is the next priority, and I would say it’s number one, but you can get really creative with the catering. Awesome food doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. And vanilla bean ice cream and (in season) peaches won’t be breaking the bank :)

Invitations can be done by a friend who is artistic or even on the computer. Yes, they’re nice. But 99% of them will end up in the trash, sadly.

Wow, that came across as very opinioned and demanding, I’m not really sure how that happened. Do what you want girlfriend! It’s your wedding and it’s going to be FABULOUS!!!

Savory crepes sound amazing, but I don’t know if I’ve ever had them. I agree that chocolate doesn’t sound too great. I do like fruity ones though.

Have a good day my wonderful and blog-dedicated friend!!!

LOL at the waitress asking you if you’d always been engaged. “Yep was born that way!” bahaha
The wedding plans sound like they’re coming along quite well! You know…I had a long engagement, and there was so much lag time, and no pressuring deadlines, that I think planning it might have been easier if we did have a shorter engagement (deadline driven, right here!)

Ildie February 23, 2010 at 8:11 am

So exciting. A long engagement would just drive me mad. Waiting, anticipating, planning, re-planning, double guessing etc… I think you’ve got the right idea!

Sweet crepes all the way with berries and honey drizzle. MMMM.

Allison (Eat Clean Live Green) February 23, 2010 at 8:26 am

I had a long engagement, and I hated it – we were so ready to be done with wedding planning, and to be married with about 8 months left to go!

So I think a short engagement sounds perfect!

Questions: What are you going to school for, and what is Marshall going back for!? So excited for the both of you
