holler. it is wednesday which means hangout night with my babe… so this one is going to be snappy! hope you guys don’t mind :)
first of all.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY GIRLS THERESE AND BROOKE! YEEEEAH!
i started out the day on time.. which is pretty epic for me. i am usually on time for work monday and tuesday but by the time wednesday rolls around i am definitely late for work by at least 20 minutes if not more. either i have turned over a new leaf or i just got lucky today.
maybe i was just really excited for my breakfast…
meal 1: protein waffles!! @ 8:30 AM
gahhhh! it has been AGES since i celebrated waffle wednesday.. a little thang susan and i started way back when. i have been failing week after week~ luckily susan has kept the tradition alive.
i used my protein waffle recipe for these babies.. dusted off my waffle iron and put it to use! i drizzled them with a bit of sugar free syrup and totally ate them with my hands.
acceptable, right? of course right.
lunch was sooo dang good yesterday that i decided to have a repeat. how does the saying go.. if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it? yeah sure, whatever.
meal 2: turkey meatloaf wrap + veggies @ 12:00 PM
i switched up the presentation and made it look different than yesterday’s lunch.. i mean, i gotta keep you guys entertained somehow, hah. same plate though.. no worries, i washed all the sticky syrup off ;)
snacktime came around and it was a little boring..
meal 3: chocolate protein shake + peppermint stick luna (not shown) @ 3:15 PM
like i said.. gotta keep y’all entertained..
pippi longstocking steeze today folks. and i need a bang trim.
up next? sweat sesh!
i was changing my shoes at the gym (i don’t like to wear my running shoes outside) and this old dude comes up to me. and by old i mean he was most likely in his eighties and i couldn’t believe he was even at the gym.
anyway.. he came up to me and said.. “those are some sexy socks!”
janetha b: “um, what?”
old dude: “your socks! they sure are sexy.”
janetha b: “uhhh.. thanks?”
old dude: “keep it up. have a great workout!”
hahaha what in the random? i mean, the man complimenting me in the first place was a little out of the ordinary~but the fact that he called my socks sexy is just downright hilarious!
ok, moving on!
ladies (and gentlemen?).. i give you the best, hardest, most epic treadmill workout of my entire treadmill career.
inspired by a format momma b. suggested. thanks mom!
so the idea of this workout is to alternate jogging and running.. and increasing the jogging and running intervals gradually.. and then decreasing them gradually.
SO.. i would jog 1 min/run 1 min, jog 2 min/run 2 min, etc etc etc.. up to 4 minutes.. then go from 4 back down to 1. kapeesh?
|
minute # |
action |
my speed (MPH) |
| 0-2 | warmup 2 minutes | 5.0 |
| 2-3 | jog 1 minute | 6.0 |
| 3-4 | run 1 minute | 7.5 |
| 4-6 | jog 2 minutes | 6.0 |
| 6-8 | run 2 minutes | 7.5 |
| 9-11 | jog 3 minutes | 5.5 |
| 11-14 | run 3 minutes | 7.0 |
| 14-18 | jog 4 minutes | 5.5 |
| 18-22 | run 4 minutes | 7.0 |
| 22-26 | jog 4 minutes | 5.5 |
| 26-30 | run 4 minutes | 7.0 |
| 30-33 | jog 3 minutes | 5.5 |
| 33-36 | run 3 minutes | 7.0 |
| 36-38 | jog 2 minutes | 6.0 |
| 38-40 | run 2 minutes | 7.5 |
| 40-41 | jog 1 minute | 6.0 |
| 41-42 | run 1 minute | 9.0 |
| 42-45 | cooldown 3 minutes | 3.5 |
total time: 45 minutes, total distance: 4.61 miles
as you can see, my jogging and running speeds varied. i paid attention to how i was feeling and kept the jogging speed at a MPH that i was comfortable with and the running speed at a MPH that was challenging but not over-doing it. you can adjust the speeds to your ability level.
PLEASE try this workout. i am not joking when i say it was the best treadmill workout i have ever done!!
i finished the gym sesh up with 15 minutes of abs. i completed this 7 1/2 minute cycle twice through:
- 2 minutes floor crunches
- 1 minute legs-up-against-wall-and-reach-toes crunches
- 2 minutes oblique crunches on stability ball (1 min each side)
- 1 minute elbow-to-knee crunches on stability ball
- 1 minute reverse crunches on floor
- 30 second plank
repeat!
the end. this whole workout was rad. SO SO SO SO rad.
came home and had this guy before hitting the showers:
after a nice, hot shower i was ready to eat.. and didn’t have to lift a finger because it is crock pot wednesday!
i am not sure if i have mentioned this, but marshall has dubbed wednesdays to be “crock pot wednesday” and i am supposed to fix a crock pot dinner every wednesday morning. this is sometimes rough, considering i fail miserably at waking up early, but on the wednesdays that i do succeed.. it sure is nice to come home to a dinner that is already made and ready to eat!
on the menu for tonight’s crock pot wednesday?
meal 4: indian chicken curry @ 7:15 PM
it may not look glamorous, but trust me.. it was something to write home about. shoot, i would probably write the north pole and the queen of england about this meal! it was that good.
in the pot:
i took a cue from a recipe out of the latest issue of oxygen magazine and added a little of my own flair~
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz) can garbanzos w/ juices
- 2-3 cloves minced garlic
- 2 sweet potatoes, peeled & diced
- 1 lb chicken breast, diced
- 4 medium carrots, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cups broccoli (which i steamed when i got home from the gym and added to the pot 30 min before eating)
- 1 TB tumeric
- 1 TB cumin
- 1-2 tsp cinnamon
- salt & pepper to taste
- a jar of this stuff:
talk about pimping out a jarred sauce!
i always bring this home when i am out of state and have the joy of visiting a trader joe’s.. but i am sure the regular grocery store has something similar if you are like me and aren’t lucky enough to have a TJ’s in your town.
everything cooked on low all day long and then, like i said up there, when i got home i steamed some broccoli and stirred it into the pot.
OH EM GEE. so good!
my only complaint is that the only chunk of sweet potato left in the whole pot is that one you see sitting atop my bowl in the photo above. the rest of the potatoes kind of turned to mush. next time, i will have to add the potatoes later on. the only problem is that i am at work all day and coming home to throw potatoes into the pot is not very realistic. maybe i can train penny to do it for me?
hmmm. maybe not.
i will admit something. i had some whole wheat pita bread with my meal.. i know i said no starchy bread after meal 3 but shoot.. this stuff is healthy and a little extra whole wheat carb loving never hurt anyone. the pita bread was perfect for soaking up all that curry juice ;)
and NOW i am going to call it a night and go hang out with my sweetie. WHO, by the way, got the A-OK on his passport and it should arrive friday! YAY!! thanks for all your happy thoughts and prayers :D
for the record, he called me earlier today with a really ultra-sad voice and said he got an email from the passport agency saying there has been a problem processing his additional identity info. i about burst into tears and started worrying about what the hell we were going to do.
turns out he was lying. the email actually said things were all legit and his passport was on the way.
man, i hate him.
i leave you with a photo of my sexy socks.
ow, ow!! too hot to handle!
Qs~
1. what is the strangest/funniest/most random compliment you’ve received? “sexy socks” from 80 year old man, no contest.
2. what is a meal you’ve been eating a lot of lately and can’t seem to get sick of? turkey meatloaf three days in a row for me.. i have a feeling that tomorrow is going to make it four.
xo. janetha b.
p.s. i updated my mileage page and my challenge page! woooohoo.

MMMMMM…curry!
That waffles look DEEELISH!!
I was thinking your sexier socks would be alot . . . sexier…lol!
Not sure about compliments, but sometimes I get told I look like Lindsay Lohan. That really isn’t a compliment to me, haha. As for what I’ve been eating alot of…greek yogurt with a few chocolate chips + banana soft serve. Never gettin’ sick of it!!
Hey, I’m a new reader! I’ve been reading alot of blogs for a while now (Jenny and Susan to name a few you’re familar with) and I came across your blog via those. I love it! I definitely plan on trying some of the workouts you posts – they sound A-M-AZING
A couple of months ago I was at the supermarket and an old man came up to me and told me I had sexy boots. Now, I can see how boots could be sexy, but I was wearing fake Uggs (fUggs if you will) and sweat pants. I wasn’t quite going for sexy LOL Gotta love old people!
Nicole G
too many delicious things in this post! waffles (haven’t had those in FOREVER) and curry!? delissh!!!!!
SEXY SOCKS!! haha
hmm. i think one guy said: you know, you have hawaiian lips. wtf?
i eat a lot of yogurt, hmmmm and lately WAY too much peanut butter!
Hahahaha holy cow THOSE are considered ‘sexy socks’ poor guy doesn’t get out much :)
Well I need to crank up my work out, eat better, drink more water and organize my photos….you’re putting me to shame but boy am I SO proud of you!!
My handyman (I could be his mother) once asked if he could ask me a very personal and sensitive question (we were alone on a job together) I was a tad nervous but thought I can always decline to answer.
I said sure well he wanted to know what kind of perfume I was wearing because it was so intoxicating…..whoa haha–i was happy to tell him where he could purchase it for his cute wife!! P.S. It is Ore from Zents
I eat my weight in clementines and string cheese….please come cook for me Neef!!
Sorry for the long epistle post I love you to the moon xoxo
HOT SOCKS! ow owwww
i love oatmeal. never gets old. especially egg white oats!! yumm.
girl thats an awesome treadmill workout! i gota try it.
have fun with your man tonight!
Hi – I’m a fairly new reader and love checking out your blog! You are a real inspiration. I am also going to try and make your protein waffles this weekend!
I was once trying on a new pair of runners in a sports store, and one of the employees came up to me out of nowhere and asked if he could “sqeeze my nose” b/c it looks “squeezable”… Ummmmm pardon me?!?! no you may not squeeze my nose!I by no means have a huge nose… totally random and completely hi-lar-ious.
I’ve been on a real stir fry kick lately. I’ve been getting a few comments at work at lunch time ” stif fry again, hey?!”
Yeah.. your chicken curry puts mine to shame. I can’t wait to give that a whirl! Luckily, I have a TJ’s in walking distance so I’m eager to buy that sauce!
Wtf to the socks, that would creep me out, but I hate socks/feet in general!! The photo of you+protein shake=adorable!
people who have seen me in movies say weird stuff to me all the time, like “you look so different in person, you were so beautiful on film!” how do you answer that?!
pippi longstocking, you’re freakin’ hot!!!! xoxo
Strangest compliment. Girl. I worked in bars/nightclubs for 10 yrs. There is nothing I havent heard. And I do mean nothing. Everything from people would like to breed with me b/c I’m “so big that I would produce linebackers” (gee, thanks.) to many many many other unmentionable things here. WRite me if you wanna know some choice ones :)
The email you sent earlier re guestie. All over it. This weekend.
Never get sick of brock, cauli, kale, and my homemade slaw dressing.
And yes, you rocked out the jarred sauce!!!!!!
HAHAHA That was so random of him!
I cannot get sick of my tortilla wraps – I have them every single day!
most random compliment lately: “i’ve been meaning to tell you that you have really nice eyebrows” from the checker at whole foods. haha. those are nice socks though ;). i want those waffles, and that pup!
That’s an awesome treadmill work out! Does it help with speed? It seems like it would but I thought I would ask. =)
Maybe he was a socks fetishist?? ;)
Sounds like a fabulous workout! Need to try that.
I was walking across a supermarket parking lot once and this guy yells, “Excuse me!” I turned around and said, “Yes…?” He says, “You have really nice posture.” Ummm…weird!
Lately I can’t seem to get sick of banana oats with PB!
Haha those are some super sexy socks! Dude has good taste! :)
Someone once came up to me in a mall parking lot and said “I really like the way your hair lays against your black coat.” This was quite odd to me. I mean, who really notices this stuff on complete strangers or has the audacity to formulate such things? LoL people are weird!!!!
Sexy socks?! Yeah, that is a new one! Hahaha!
I loved your turkey meatloaf wrap pic today – beautious!
I will never ever get sick of hummus. I don’t know if it’s a meal, but I could sure make it one;)
Yay for Marshall’s passport! I’ve dealt with that before and it can be sooooo stressful! Y’all are going to have such a fab time. Um and I must pick up some of that TJ’s curry sauce…YUM. I’ve been eating waaaay too much tuna…and Greek yog of course…can’t help it! Have a great day lady!
Oh yum…the curry looks awesome! :D
Haha…I love strange compliments/comments. I think yours takes the cake for the best! :D
A meal I’ve been having a lot of?…well…oatmeal, kind of. I’m realizing that it’s healthy, but still. I seem to get stuck in the same pattern once I find something I love, so I think I’m going to gather up some inspiration and change it up soon. Waffles, maybe? Yours look delish!
Happy National Hot Pastrami Day!!!!!!!!!!! Um, yay for sexy socks? That is an odd thing to say, lol. I think they are kind of cute, for the record, but have never heard of socks being sexy. Curry looks deeeeeeelish and YAY for Marshall’s passport!!!!!!!!
Meal favourite at the moment- chicken, laughing cow cheese, cranberry sauce and spinach wrap. toasted. So dang good.
1. i m not sure. i worked in retail for years so heard everything.
2. hmmm. i am loving spinach salads. am also loving laughing cow thanks to you :P
Eating with your hands is just so much more fun! YAHOO for a passport!
1. I can’t think of one BUT the socks I’m wearing right now are those fuzzy ones in about 80 different colors – so sexy ;)
2. It’s not really a meal but I can’t get enough homemade bread these days!
1) Oh man, ok ready for this one? When I worked at a bagel shop in college this older man (70’s?) would come in all the time. He had a REALLY thick accent, and one day when I was ringing him up he looked me up and down (ew) and said, “You know, you would look very nice, barefoot, een front of de stove….PREGNANT.”
:-0
2) Salmon & cottage cheese. Mmmm. Protein.
No shame in eating waffles with your hands! They look to good!
Indian curry looks great as well as your wrap!
That’s right, if it ain’t broke then don’t fix it!
Jenna
Wow what a creeepy old man! You know, regular ankle socks with a dash of green is the new seksy!
SO glad to hear everything is OK for Marshall’s passport :D :D *phew*
I can’t get sick of humungo veggie salads w/ goddess dressing lately – I love em!
oh worrrrrd those ARE sexy sockz. apparently adidas gets the old mans juices flowin.
hmm weirdest thing a person said to me at the gym? probably a few weeks ago when a dude asked me if i could take a picture of him with his phone. gross.
i cant get enough of cottage chee & banzos. thank you for cursing me with this addiction.
by the way i’m pretty sure i’m heading over to tjs to pick up a jar of that goodness.
really like that pic of you, sooo cute! :D
funny complement? can’t remember one… I used to get a lot when I was in Argentina, miss argentinian men.
lately food obsession? corns!
Bahahaha! Who knew socks could be sexy?!?! I really need to invest in a crock pot. Soon….my pay day is on Friday!
I have to be honest.. I think my polka-dot socks are much more sexy! LOL J/k! That is so random about the guy.. he must have just been trying to come up with something so that he could talk to you! Oo la la!
And I’d love to try that workout but I hate running! Maybe someday if I feel like getting my butt kicked..
Yeah, I’m pretty sure he wasn’t talking about your socks.
Anyway….I was in the Asian Market a few weeks back and a guy YELLED down the aisle “I recognize you!” and then he said “From Aurora last Saturday night!” (you know, the street with the hookers). I assured him that was NOT me and fled. What a weirdo.
Like I would have time to blog AND hook, puh-lease.
Hee hee- this gets best comment award for the day :-)
I can’t think of any funny compliments, but that is hilarious! I wonder what made them sexy to him?
you are so cute in that hat :)
he strangest/funniest/most random compliment you’ve received? hmm…my grandmother (who is not good about giving compliments) once told me that she liked my hair better the way it was cut the last time I saw her. that was funny.
2. what is a meal you’ve been eating a lot of lately and can’t seem to get sick of? salads with avocado + black bean burgers! probably having one today :)
Strangest compliment by far came from a creepy, greasy looking man at a bar about 6 years ago. I was there with my girlfriends and he just randomly looked at me and said (while Super Freak was playing) “Are you a freak?” “You make me want to lick my eyebrows!” UGH! We immediately moved to another area of the bar. HA!
Oatmeal. I eat 5 times+ a week and never seem to get sick of it.
omg. brendan does that to me all. the. dame. time. pretends something bad has happened to get me all riled up & then really, it’s something good. ugh. hate it. i told him one day, something bad really IS going to happen and i’m not going to believe him. hes legit the boy who cried wolf. ahem anyways, congrats on marshall getting his passport soon! so exciting!!! jamaica is ON! lol
sexy socks? thats definitely a new one…kind of random but a man i work with (completely straight, married, kids…) always notices my hair..and lets me know if it’s a good “do'” or a bad “do'” .. he’ll notice if i cut like 2 inches off.
fav meal lately….when i get to work i throw together fresh fruit, usually a naner, strawbs, apple, or grapes … with some yogs & quaker granola … never gets old. ever. i loveeee it. aaaand you! xoxo
Nothing wrong with eating waffles with your hands..I don’t know who decided we needed to cut them up, bite by bite.
1. Strangest comment (that I can recall): this girl who may or may not have been on an acid trip at the bar started screaming at my friends and I asking, “are you freaking out yet?!?”
2. it’s a tie: peanut butter/banana (never go a day without) and baby carrots with hummus and salsa Yum!
Thanks for the b-day shout out! I feel like a celebrity on this here blog!
Oh and those ARE some sexy socks. Old man knows his shiz :)
I have to try that treadmill workout. I am getting bored with my usual routine.
Well, the old guy might have caught you off guard, but I bet you smiled the rest of the day thinking about it! Haha, sexy socks!
The treadmill session looks neat, is it a pain to change the speed so often? Your last run looks like you were running like a bat out of hell! 9.0 mph Haha! :P
Hey, you might try cutting the sweet potatoes into REALLY big chunks that way they will take longer to cook, just a suggestion. Looks great though! :)
TJs curry simmer sauce is da diggity. We use it all the time.
Yay for passports and cute socks!
mmmm LOVIN’ your eats!! waffles! your skin is sooo radiant, you’re gorgeous! hope u had a blast with your man!!
1) I was once told I have “pretty knees”…umm the guy might have been joking..
2) Apples with greek yogurt and pumpkin..everyday..!!
Happy Thursday!! WHOOP WHOOP! xoxo!
Ha ha ha!!!!!!! Sexy socks….hilarious!!!!!
I love TJ’s Curry sauce. Yum yum yum.
Way to go on that treadmill workout. Very impressed with the 4 min at 7 mph!!!! Nice!!!!
Once a guy at the carwash was going on and on about my shoes. They were Jack Purcell tennies…not too fancy.
I haven’t been home long enough to get in a food routine yet.
Haha, What a great comment. Hope he doesn’t use that as a pick up line. lol I love crock pot meals.
The socks are definitely cute, but sexy? maybe cos they’re short, he’s not used to seeing that much skin on a woman… Like, back in the day they’d be risqué.
Lately I’ve been eating Mexican non stop for lunch and dinner. I need to try some crock pot recipes but it makes me nervous leaving the thing on all day…
one time when i gave blood, the guy told me i had “nice veins.” i asked him if that was a pick up line he used on all the ladies. he denied it, but i am pretty sure it was.
dinner…i want…curry…now!!!!!!!
sweet potato wraps are my life lately. they rule.
love youuuuuuuuuu
Sio happy that marshall got the OK on the passport! I cant wait for you guys to have so much fun and I will be sitting here in the cold…:)
Love your sexy socks, i can’t believe that conversation took place LOL too much. By the way, they are awesome socks, but sexy? hmm I don’t see that! the peppermint stick luna is one of my FAV flavors, christmas time or not, it is SO good!
protein waffles with your hands-100%acceptable, I do the same thing and even if it is syrupy, food is so much more enjoyable eaten with yo fingersss
meal I have been eating that I cant get enougho f, well not meal, but I cannot get enough of the pumpkin spiced chickpeas! I come home and make them every other day! I know the recipe by HEART!
i was told by my manicurest once that I had nice fingernails…strange I know
XOXO
Bahahahahaha, too. funny. Old men are hilarious fo sho especially in flirting situaitons.
Your crock pot meal looks amazing. I need to get over my fear of the setting the apartment on fire and do the damn thang.
1. I can’t think of any random ones right of the bat, but I hate it when guys tell me I have pretty eyes. I can tell they are just trying to get laid because my eyes are two completely different sizes and they’re small and ordinary. How about you get a little more creative? Oh wait oh wait I just thought of a random one. A guy on facebook recently told me that if I was blonde I’d make a hot country singer. Um… thanks?
2. I’m all about putting fake meat on top of a salad and dousing it in hot sauce right now. Lazy much?
Have a wonderful Thursday!
I want a crock pot so terribly much! That curry looks and sounds phenom. Good work my friend!
And yay for waffle wednesdays and that radical work out. High five!
Salads with black bean burgers and annie’s goddess dressing. Over and over again.
I can’t think of a weird compliment, but the one I get most often is, “you don’t look old enough to be married!!” (I always then tell them just how LONG I have been married for additional eyebrow raising *G*) (Oh – weird would be the supermarket cashier who saw the wedding band, then went, “Oh, I thought you were his sister!”)
I am one of those people who could eat the same thing days and days in a row. last was my spicy cabbage soup. used to eat PBJ every day for lunch, but haven’t had jam in ages because of all the sugar. kinda want one for old time sake though!
protein wafffles! yay!
And seriously digging your protein shakes. In a magic bullet container. Naturally, of course!
I unententionally participated in crock pot wed. yestereday, too! It’s a good day for it – makes the middle of the week that much easier.
1. Freshman year homecoming in HS, my date told me I had beautiful ears.
2. fruit cereal…I will never tire of fruit and milk. Never.
