living life and loving it.

in meals,moves

that is where i have been and what i have been doing.  too busy for my laptop, i don’t want to apologize because i don’t think that is a bad thing!  but now that this long weekend is finally coming to an end, i have managed to find the time to post :)

i also want to let you all know that i have been reading your posts!  i had my reader open yesterday during a football game AND a basketball game (what? two sports games in a day? not like me at all.. gross.) and i LOVED seeing all of your thanksgiving feast recaps!  i just was too lazy to click out of reader and comment.. don’t hate me!  i have actually found i can read a lot more blogs via my reader rather than clicking out to each post.. but on the down side i can’t comment so easily. i sure wish reader had a comment option!

so, what have i been up to?  lots.  i don’t even know where i left off but i just uploaded a slew of photos so i am going to look at them and take it from there, mmmkay?

friday night marshall and i went with my friend lindsay & her boyfriend brandon to the minus the bear show.  but first.. food!

image

IMG_8363

we decided to grab some gourmet burgers at acme burger.. do you guys have these in your town?  we just have this one and this was my second time going there.  it is incredible!  i am such a burger lover so of course their cuisine is right up my ally.  it is really cool how they have a camera on the kitchen and that screen in the upper right of this photo is there so you can watch them prepare your food!

IMG_8365

we were surprised to see one of our friends working there and he brought us an appetizer on the house.  it was spinach artichoke dip which was served with pita bread and tortilla chips~

IMG_8366

not my favorite.  i had a few nibbles but saved my appetite for my entree…

turkey burger with a sweet potato bun topped with arugula, mushrooms and cranberry mustard~

IMG_8370

baller. this was so good.  we also could not resist splitting some sweet potato fries.. my addiction!  these ones were unique because they were covered with a hint of sugar.  sweet and salty all in one!

IMG_8373

after our meal we high tailed it to the concert which was epic, as expected.  minus the bear is my favorite band ever and i loved every minute of it!

IMG_8393 IMG_8374IMG_8375 IMG_8389

unfortunately, they did not play mine & marshall’s “song”.. it is a less popular song and they never play it in concert.  sigh, one day perhaps!

saturday was pretty uneventful now that i am looking back at the photos.. hmm.. not quite sure what i did with all my time.  i know i got up and eventually made my way to the gym for some HIIT!

image

HIIT on treadmill~

instead of gradually increasing the incline like i usually do, i decided to gradually increase the amount of speed between each minute of each interval.  for the first set i increased the speed by 0.5, then the next set by 0.6, then by 0.7 and finally by 0.8.  this is how it went (numbers are in MPH):

  • 1 min @ 5.0<—warm up
  • 1 min @ 5.5<—warm up
  • 1 min @ 6.0
  • 1 min @ 6.5
  • 1 min @ 7.0
  • 1 min @ 7.5
  • 1 min @ 6.0
  • 1 min @ 6.6
  • 1 min @ 7.3
  • 1 min @ 7.8
  • 1 min @ 6.0
  • 1 min @ 6.7
  • 1 min @ 7.4
  • 1 min @ 8.1
  • 1 min @ 6.0
  • 1 min @ 6.8
  • 1 min @ 7.6
  • 1 min @ 8.4
  • 1 min @ 9.5<—high point
  • 1 min @ 2.0<—cool down

this was rad! i can’t tell you the stats since i still can’t find my HRM watch (eek) but my heart was pumpin! and yes, i just typed “pumpkin” and had to backspace and type “pumpin” ;)

i finished my workout off with 7 minutes of ab work because you know i gotta whittle my middle!

image

i went home and cleaned up and marshall & i went to eat at millcreek cafe & eggworks, one of our favorite places to go for brunch.

i ordered an egg white omelette with spinach, mushrooms & feta + dry wheat toast~

IMG_8425

IMG_8423

and coffee, naturally.  marshall got his regular smothered wrap but they put mushrooms in it and he ended up sending it back and getting one that had not been “tainted” with mushrooms~as he put it.  haha.  i LOVE mushrooms! that boy…

we spent saturday afternoon doing some shopping, i got a really cute scarf at urban and spotted another spotted scarf that immediately made me think of my snackface senorita!  i was going to text her about it but did not.. and ironically later in the day she text me about seeing a purple dress that made her think of me! i think we were surfing on the same wavelength saturday. just on opposite sides of the country…

it was a successful trip, i also got the dogs christmas collars (yay!) and a few stocking stuffers for my mom (can’t tell you what though! hi mom!)  and after a few hours at the mall we were done for.  we headed home and basically didn’t do much the rest of the day.. hmm.. nope, sure didn’t.  oh! but i did make some delish dinner!

shepherd’s pie!

IMG_8449

so, this meal was super delicious but i realized that shepherd’s pie is really unphotogenic.. hmm..

we did take photos of the dinner-making process though.

first i browned the ground beef with shallots and some s&p and worcestershire sauce (the spelling of that word used to baffle me!) and then i stirred in some tomato sauce, tomato paste and diced tomatoes.. a tomato trifecta if you will.  this was the base layer of the pie~

IMG_8428

topped that layer with some french cut green beans~

IMG_8430

and then marshall was in charge of mashing the baby red potatoes!  he did a great job..

IMG_8427IMG_8426

the potatoes were the third layer of marshall’s side of the pie.  my side’s third layer was mushrooms.. of course!

IMG_8432

and then the potatoes on top of the mushrooms.it is totally normal to wear your boyfriend’s puma ha backwards while making shepherd’s pie. ok? ok.

IMG_8436

the last layer was a sprinkling of sharp cheddar~can you tell which side was marshall’s?  yeah, he finished off the bag of cheese.

IMG_8443

this went into the oven at 350 degrees [f] for about a half hour.

IMG_8444IMG_8445

and, like i said, really not photogenic at all!  but really tasty.. i had not had shepherd’s pie in ages! it was actually really comforting and really healthy.. not two things that usually go hand in hand.

IMG_8450

my favorite part about this meal is that marshall and i made it together and it was a lot of fun goofing off in the kitchen while we cooked.  usually, i am the one that cooks and marshall just watches TV until dinner is ready.. or i am just cooking for myself.  it is nice to make an evening of cooking dinner!

marshall and i stayed up until 3 AM watching episodes of dexter season 4.

somewhere during this marathon i had a greek yogurt mess made with oikos 0%+bulgarian PB+shredded spoonfuls.

sunday.. i actually woke up at 9:30 AM which was strange considering my super late bedtime. whatevs!  i wanted to go snowboarding bright and early but none of my friends did~they were thinking more like noon.. so i hit the gym first thing!

after fueling up with some espresso + bowl of cereal i did a make-up-as-you-go upper body workout. so not like me.  i always plan my workouts before i do them.  not today!

image

today i wanted to utilize the cables as well as the dumbbells and work my triceps, back, biceps, shoulders & chest while incorporating abs.  that is just what i did.  here is how it went:

triceps

  • cable pulldowns : 3 sets x15
  • overhead cable extensions: 3 sets x15
  • oblique crunches on stability ball: 3 sets x30

back

  • standing cable row w/ v rope set high: 3 sets x15
  • bent over barbell row: 3 sets x15
  • crunches: 3 sets x50

biceps

  • cable biceps curl: 3 sets x15
  • dumbbell hammer curl: 3 sets x15
  • bicycle crunches: 3 sets x30

shoulders

  • standing upright cable row: 3 sets x15
  • dumbbell front raises: 3 sets x15
  • oblique twists on decline bench w/ 10# plate: 3 sets x30

chest

  • dumbbell chest press: 3 sets x15
  • dumbbell flyes: 3 sets x15
  • reverse crunches: 3 setx x15

not too bad for a make up as you go workout, eh?!  loved it. my arms felt like noodles afterward!!

and then it was straight home to change for snowboarding.. finally.  i feel like a slack ass because i hadn’t been up before today.. but honestly, there is NO SNOW and so i haven’t felt like it is really worth it.

image

i shoved my face with a turkey sandwich while getting changed.. this was made with leftover thanksgiving turkey+whole wheat roll+mustard.. easy peasy.

 IMG_8457

the dogs were all about trying to get my sandwich. see penny jumping up on me??

IMG_8459

once we were at my local resort i picked up my season pass (don’t worry, i smiled big) and we headed up the lift.

IMG_8460

ehhh..ok, i realize why i haven’t been up yet this season.  the snow sucked and it was really icy and there were rocks and twigs everywhere.

IMG_8462

umm hello? is it not almost december? where is winter?!?!

so, after a cool 3 runs we called it a day and came back down the canyon.  the luxury of living in SLC is you can go snowboarding at noon and take just 3 runs and still have a good chunk of your day left.  it is only 15 miles up the canyon to the resort.

image

when i got home my roomie cooked me dinner!  mushroom risotto with chicken + salad~

IMG_8467

for the record, no.. i am not a big hog, that is a little salad plate :P

and my lighting still sucks.. gotta figure this whole lighting sitch out soon.

soooo.. now i am typing this and working on my moves page which i will hopefully be done with by the end of the night.

hope you all had a GREAT weekend, i am sad that it is almost over.. but back to the grind tomorrow.  and the last day of november!! how crazy!  christmas will be here before we know it!!

Qs~

1. do you plan your workouts or make them up as you go? i always plan.. i don’t write them down but i have a plan in my head.  this is best for optimal workoutage when at the gym.. but today it was kind of nice just to not plan and go with whatever sounded fun!!

2. who does most of the cooking in your house? aside from yourself, who are you cooking for? do you do it all, do you take turns or do you cook together? like i said, i do most of the cooking most of the time.. it is for just me myself and i 70% of the time though. when marshall is over he usually will offer a hand now and again, which is nice!

Marissa November 29, 2009 at 7:36 pm

1) I pretty much make it up as I go
2) I do all of the cooking for my husband and myself :)

Holly (The Healthy Everythingtarian) November 29, 2009 at 7:40 pm

glad you are living life, enjoying it all and just being an all-around #1 stunna. and please forgive that reference, for some reason i have been singing that song all day.

i j’adore that shepherd’s pie. all you needed was a good brew and a fabulous cockney accent, and you would be right back in the pubs of england. ahhhhhh….

LOVE YOU GIRL…let’s chat soon. i feel as though there is lots of catching up to be had!!!

Abby November 29, 2009 at 7:40 pm

I really don’t have great answers to your questions, but I was just freaked out that I was the one of the first people to comment! Normally I’m like, number 567 on the day, so I had to come steal the honor :) Timing is everything…

All I can say is that I love the fungus among us–for me, mushrooms go in everything they can (food-related). I always cook for me, as I live with me and only me. However, if I could find a roommate that cooked mushroom risotta, I wouldn’t pass it up.

(The only roommate I had a few years ago had no real plates, as he just ate out of take-out containers and threw crap away. The pizza man got him a Christmas gift he was over so often–no joke.)

Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) November 29, 2009 at 8:16 pm

That’s so sad yet hilarious about the pizza man’s present!

Allison (Eat Clean Live Green) November 29, 2009 at 7:45 pm

I wish reader had a comment option too! I would comment so much more :)

1. do you plan your workouts or make them up as you go?plan, definitely. I end up wandering around aimlessly if I don’t.

2. who does most of the cooking in your house? aside from yourself, who are you cooking for? do you do it all, do you take turns or do you cook together? I do most of the cooking (for myself and my husband). He’s a good cook too though! Neither one of us likes to clean though ;-)

Lindsay November 29, 2009 at 7:52 pm

I allllllways do the cooking. Always. My bf tries to help sometimes, but he does things like make the toaster over catch on fire (true story) or he shoots potato chunks into boling water using the back of the stove as a backboard. So yeah I do the cooking, which given his history in the kitchen, is a good thing.

hayleycepeda November 29, 2009 at 7:58 pm

I just saw your FB post about snowboarding today – I can’t believe you guys don’t have much snow! Out of all the places my family and I have skiied Utah probably had the best snow. This winter has been weird for us, too…global warming??? Regardless it looks beautiful!

I don’t plan my workouts in advance so much, but then I only do weights twice a week now. I’m focused more on circuit training – doing compound exercises, moving from one to the other so that I keep my heart rate up, etc. I usually choose hard workouts that I have my more advanced clients do.

As for who does the cooking? I am still working on this….Chris and I eat so differently that I can’t say I even cook that often..but I’m hoping to make some turkey soup with the leftover meat we have from Thanksgiving! :)

Andrea@WellnessNotes November 29, 2009 at 7:58 pm

The sweet potato fries made me drool… :) And the burger doesn’t look bad either! ;)

And I love your Shepherd’s Pie. And I love that you and Marshall had fun making it! Cooking together is the best!

1. I always have a mental plan before working out, and I almost always stick to it. And when I have a hard time sticking to it (like I have been lately), I know it’s time switch things up a bit…

2. I do most of the cooking in our house, but I really love it when hubby and I cook together. With the toddler, that’s not happening that often anymore however… I also sometimes cook with the teenager. Can’t wait for the toddler to get a bit older so that we can involve him a bit more.

Have a great week!

P.S.: I’m super jealous that you are so close to the snow… :)

Katey November 29, 2009 at 8:02 pm

can I move in with you and go snowboarding?! haha jk, but all the “hills” in wisconsin/illinois are pathetic!!! and I am TOTALLY addicted to sweet potato’s too, nooo worries :)

inmytummy November 29, 2009 at 8:07 pm

Wow, it’s crazy that there is snow there already. I like living in the South, but I do miss skiing. Do you ski or snowboard?

1. I usually have a plan of what I’m going to do when I work out. I’ve been following the New Rules of Lifting for Women so I just do that routine. When I’m doing cardio, I usually have a certain number of miles (or time if I don’t run) in my head but sometimes mix up the pace.

2. I cook the most. It’s usually for both me and Jason but I kind of just make what I want and hope he likes it.

This is a really random question, but have you ever made your dog a cake? It’s Murphy’s birthday on Tuesday.

traynharder23 November 29, 2009 at 8:12 pm

i have to plan it. oncei went in there without a plan and a horribly inefficient workout resulted. plus now i’m fully engrossed in crossfit so everything must be written down. =D

however, for treadmill deaths at 3:45 am, i just make it up as i go. lately concentrating on incline sprints. coz they’re badass and fun.

cooking: i make my own lunch and breakfast. dinner is mom’s deal. since i had ED, she does dinner.

Haleigh November 29, 2009 at 8:17 pm

You definitely should not apologize for living life.

Your roomie’s mushroom risotto looks super yum!!

1. I never really plan my workouts unless you include going to a yoga class as planning since I ‘plan’ to go to my class :)
2. I cook for me and my husband and he does like to cook sometimes but it’s usually me.

Enjoy your evening! xoxo

Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) November 29, 2009 at 8:20 pm

Derek LOVES shepherd’s pie. And I made the most horrific one for a british girl who came over for dinner. It was so dry (I tried to make it super healthy) and even she said to my face that it sucked ass. Oh well, win some lose some!

My answers are much like Hayleys.

1. Workouts- I have a general idea of what I want to do (a class then chest for ex) but as for the exact moves I make it up depending on my mood and what machines are free at the time.

2. Cooking- same as Hayley- we eat at different times and different foods. That was something I wanted to work on, hmmm. Good goal for the new year perhaps?! Sometimes I get hungry really early and it’ll be hours before he’s home.

Glad you had some fun even if it was 3 runs.

And Penny cracked me up!

erika November 29, 2009 at 8:33 pm

Glad you enjoyed your weekend! Your shep pie looks so good and totally different from how I make it, but I want to give yours a try! I do all the cooking in the house. My hubs can make a mean grilled cheese if you are not watching your calorie intake!

traynharder23 November 29, 2009 at 9:06 pm

killer workouts lol! you do a mean treadmill workout! i gotta try it! =D

Nicci@NiftyEats November 29, 2009 at 9:13 pm

I plan my workouts for the week, to keep me motivated, but sometimes I may change them depending on mood. Skiing looked like fun, I went one year but just kept falling down….sore bum!

Carbzilla November 29, 2009 at 9:36 pm

Your blog has a little comments link at the bottom so I just click there and comment away…but I know not all of them show up in reader like that.

Anyway, thanks for the comments! So funny you made Shepherd’s Pie b/c Chris mentioned making it tonight (did you SEE how much mashed potatoes we had???) but I just. don’t. like. it.

I just don’t. Yours looks yummy. Don’t get me wrong but there are many things I’d rather eat.

I plan my workout week with home and gym but don’t really get more specific like that (gym’s usually a class and I’m just getting back to them now).

Chris and I cook together but he usually eats way later than I do. We both make sure there’s plenty of food in the fridge, and we can also throw together something.

Glad you LIVED!!! Blogging can wait. (Sorry about the sucky snow – Tahoe’s feeling it too though I think we have a couple resorts open up here. Nothing like last year though).

Katie November 29, 2009 at 9:39 pm

Okay, I am having your egg white omelet tomorrow – it looks so darn good. Also, I TOTALLY wish there was a comment option in reader – that would be fantastic.

1. I am a planner with my workouts.
2. I do all the cooking and I love it!

kbwood November 29, 2009 at 10:00 pm

girl- i def dont think thats a bad thing for taking a break for your computer.. i so respect that!
sorry they didnt play your song :( it looks fun tho!

i kind of make my workouts as i go.. but i have an idea of what im going to do each day

mom November 29, 2009 at 10:20 pm

Well I did some shopping too!! Glad you had a great long week end and that you and Marshall cooked together! Your shephard pie sounds so yummy……

I plan as I go or use a few pages from the Oxygen magazine

Nope I don’t cook much but when I do I am a pretty good cook, I rely on my personal chef, Janetha, to cook the really good meals!!

Love you sweetie xoxoxo.

Whole Body Love November 29, 2009 at 10:51 pm

I do most of the cooking but we tend to be home and eating at different times though. I always know the body parts I plan to work out in the gym but I never make a set plan.

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) November 29, 2009 at 11:00 pm

“i have actually found i can read a lot more blogs via my reader rather than clicking out to each post.”
Yes, 100%. I could read 2-3x/ the amt of blogs if i didnt comment. Plus neither you or I write “nice oats”. We go on and on, which is both good & bad:)

Ski pass-LOVE that.

And coffee too.

Do I plan my workouts? THe time of day yes, the thing, no. Meaning it’s always yoga in the a.m. and i do whatever i feel like.

Cooking. Me 100%. And in the past 3 yrs, I have never been out to eat. Ever. Food allergies. Welcome.To. My.Life. So yeah, I need a break :)

mayapamela November 29, 2009 at 11:27 pm

A sweet potato bun!? Baller!

I’ve had sp fries with cinnamon sugar but I love the sugar/salty combo am mentally noting for when I make sp fries!

May I ask what you and Marshall’s song is?

Julia November 29, 2009 at 11:45 pm

Aww sounds like you had an awesome weekend!
I’m super jealous of your and Marshall’s cooking fest and time together – sigh.

I plan my strength workouts out, because if I don’t I get kind of lost and forget what kind of moves to do.

I do all the cooking, since I live all by my lonesome. But when Tyler and I lived together I would try and get him to help in the kitchen, it’s so much more fun that way.

coco November 30, 2009 at 4:02 am

I knew that you were busy enjoying life which is absolutely the right thing to do girl!!! Snowboarding? woooo……. I can’t believe it’s really winter! I’m going to Germany and might go to ski (snowboarding is too hard for me), I wish you come with me ;)
I don’t plan workout much, maybe in a week I’ll do 2 cardio session, 2-3 yoga, but I don’t plan in a daily basis.
Now that I’m alone I cook for myself which is fun when I have free time, but not when I’m stressed out with work!

Karin November 30, 2009 at 4:10 am

How is it possible to hate mushrooms?? Sigh..

(I had mushroom risotto as well last night.. Maybe it was a Sunday for risottos? Who knows..)

1. I never really have to make up something because all I ever do is running, yoga, squash or pilates..

2. I always cook with my boyfriend when we’re together. It’s great that he likes cooking too – we even made christmas cookies last year. Other than that I’m mostly cooking for myself or for my sister too (because we live together).

So jealous of your ski pass. It finally started snowing today and I can’t wait to go snowboarding!!

Paige @ Running Around Normal November 30, 2009 at 4:41 am

What a weekend! So glad you are living it up to the fullest :) You totally deserve that!
That concert looks like a blast! Glad you had some fun with your friends.
I find that I always type pumpkin now, too! Crazy, I tell ya.
Yay for finally getting to the slopes! Sorry the snow wasn’t as great as it could be.
Have a great day, JAnetha!
1. I always have a plan in my head, or else not much gets accomplished!
2. I basically do all the cooking myself. Shane doesn’t really think about food unless it’s in front of him (weird, I know!) so if I don’t want us to starvve, I cook. So I cook, haha.

Lauren November 30, 2009 at 5:11 am

Hey there darling girl!!!

Happy to see that you’ve been enjoying life lately. :)

Wow, I have to comment on how amazing that burger looks. Sweet Pot. Bun??!?!?! Really?!?! ANd I have a slight weakness when it comes to SP fries too! No shame, they are way to good to even care. ;)

I have to have some kind of plan because I am awful at remembering moves. I have been writing them down on index cards and completeing circut workouts at the gym. LOVE it!! :) Makes it go by so fast.

I cook EVERYTHING! I think the only thing my hubby makes is his cereal in the morning. LoL. He is so cute that I don’t mind though! Cooking is relaxing for me. ;)

Have a great week love!

Susan November 30, 2009 at 5:26 am

I haven’t had shephard’s pie since I was a child!! That must change. Except, I’ll make the “Janetha” side. More mushrooms, less cheese ;) Also, your burger looks aaaaawesome. I’ve never heard of that place, but they should build one here.

1. I usually plan them out in my head beforehand. Sometimes, I’ll come across things I want to try out and write them down just so I don’t get my form wrong. Or I’ll bring in notes for complicated treadmill workouts. I used to bring in a clipboard and write down everything, but I fell out of that habit, it was a lot of work.

2. I do alllll the cooking! But it’s just me. If Chris is around, I still do the cooking, but that’s because my kitchen won’t fit two people. He’s in charge of the grill though ;)

ksgoodeats November 30, 2009 at 6:27 am

I was gone all weekend and no apologies from me! Family time trumps computer time!!

Salty/sweet sweet potato fries sound drool worthy – yum! Tainted with mushrooms, hahah! That’s crazy talk, straighten your man out ;)

2. I do my “cooking” if you can even count it as that. However my mom and dad both share the cooking responsibilities for their meals.

april November 30, 2009 at 6:57 am

I’m the same way with google reader! It’s kind of more effecient to just read! haha.

I’m surprised you don’t get excessively hungry from snowboarding! After I go I’m sooo hungry! haha

Danielle November 30, 2009 at 7:00 am

Busy, busy, busy! Well, when you’re out enjoying life to the fullest it’s no surprise that blogging gets the boot, at least for a little bit :) glad you’ve been enjoying yourself! And I too do the same with google reader :)

1. I usually plan workouts as a part of the motivation to do them all together ;) and 2. I cook for me and only me… unless I’m at home and make something for the boy or a treat for my siblings.

julie November 30, 2009 at 7:31 am

awwww you’ve had SUCH a good time “off” haha like you took a vacation from blogging. so worth it.

i love me some make up on the spot workouts at the gym although if i dont think about it ahead of time i often find myself standing there thinking what i should do next haha but yours worked out stellar for you :)

your roomie is awesome for cooking you up that fabo meal last night! it looks great too!

ummmmm helloooo do we have a new sports fan up in hurrrrr??

eatolive November 30, 2009 at 7:38 am

yayy snow boarding :) booo not much snow :(

that shepard’s pie looks YUMMMY!

hmm .. i usually make it up .. i try to “confuse” my muscles by working the same muscles in different ways, then changing it up completely and working different muscles.

mom alwaaaays did the cooking my house but now that im in an apt with the boy, we share the responsibility :) although our kitchen is small and we bump into eachother a lot.

ellie November 30, 2009 at 7:53 am

I wish reader had a comment function too. Le sigh. Sorry the snow wasn’t fab- at least it’s uber pretty! And that turkey burger looks awesome- turkey + cranberry never gets old. Which is why Thanksgiving rocks my worls.

I do all the cooking- I live alone so I would be waiting a loooooooooooong time for a meal prepared by somebody else to land on my table.

RhodeyGirlTests November 30, 2009 at 8:35 am

1. Jealz you have some snow. We were supposed to go to a baby mountain in upstate NY this weekend but they haven’t even been able to open yet.

2. I wish Google reader had a comment option too.

3. Have you heard of Monty Are I? I bet you would like their music. They are my friends from high school but their band is pretty well known in a certain circle. Their new album just came out! Check it out!!!

Naomi (onefitfoodie) November 30, 2009 at 8:35 am

girrrl you SO don’t have to aplogize for taking a technology break! I think lots of us did over the thanksgiving holiday! (I know I did) and don;t feel bad although I will be back at it again today! :) that acme burger place looks and sounds great! I dont have one in my area-darrrnnnnn :(

i cant wait to ski this year! we haven’t had any snow yet (crazy! in boston and no snow and its dec tomorrow?!) I am happy about that but I also cant wait to get out on the trails!

i always plan my workouts, if the weights aren’t so organized I at least plan to do weights and then make it up once I get there. its fun being a personal trainer because I have all these workouts that i give to clients and classes I teach so I just grab one and go do my thing! (or my trainers workouts) I have about 80 sheets of those!!

I love your HIIT workouts!! I would Love you to do a guest post for me next week on your workouts and HIIT training! would you be interested??

xoxox

Emily November 30, 2009 at 8:53 am

ooh, sweet potato fries…

1. I plan ahead, mos def. I know it’s not necessarily the case, but I feel like a freestyle workout isn’t really a workout. I like structure.

2. I am the cook, and I like it that way :) if hub wants to clean up afterward, that is the ideal scenario.

big food holiday haps in december! oh yeah, and christmas! getting excited :)

Mmm, mushroom risotto, love!!

Sorry about the no-snow, that’s surprising this time of year.

1) I usually have a DVD to work out to or a list of moves. I’m generally a planner.

2) I’m the cook, my husband will sometimes grill but normally it’s up to me. It’s just the two of us so if I make a large meal, we just live off the leftovers for a couple days…

You have some kick butt workouts going on, girl! I have some HIIT workouts on my blog if you want to check them out! I live for HIIT. :)

I always plan most meals ahead and I do the cooking – but only because I love to.

Happy times that you had an awesome Thanksgiving week break. Yay for cute scarves.
Shepherds pie is my fave – reminds me of home so much since it’s my #1 meal that my mum makes. Such comfort!
1) I plan my workouts in as much as I plan what classes I want to go to and how far I want to run – but that’s about it!
2) Cooking is split two ways in our house. Either we do it together or trade off – it’s fun that way!

That burger looks delicious! I just saw a recipe for Shepherds Pie in the new clean eating mag..Ill have to try it!!

1. I plan my workouts—90 % of the time.
2. Its all me :).

OMG i love your t-shirt with the eyes!

I don’t plan workouts til I get home, lol.

We share cooking when hubby is interested…he’s pretty good at it!

Janetha, my like-minded, connected sista, I LOVE that you’re living your life and loving it. That’s my goal all day, erryday! If that means not commenting and just reading in google reader (which I do…all the time), so be it! Love that you’re not apologizing for it, too.

Shepherds pie was something my mom made all the time. Ground beef topped with corn, then mashed taters. I obviously ate only the corn and taters :)

Um, was that a SWEET POTATO BUN you mentioned before that? WHAT! I need.

You and Marshall making dinner together= ridiculously adorable/ I’m jealous. Who’s game for a third wheel?

My workouts are mostly the same every time. It’s either a cardio+abs day or a cardio+arms day. Simple. With this new gym, though, I’m inspired to switch it up.

Clearly, I do all my “cooking.” I like to call it assembling.

LOVE YOU TIMES A TRILLION!!!xoxoxo

p.s. your workouts are SERIOUS, girl! you are a machine!

Glad you’ve been livin and lovin girl! That’s what it’s all about.

Your shepherd’s pie looks amazing! I’ve never had it before but I think I should give it a whirl.

Sorry the slopes weren’t great. I’m not a winter sport lover (okay I’m a winter sport loather) but I hope it gets nice and wintery for you soon!

1. I don’t really plan my workouts – but that’s probably because/why they suck. :/
2. I do all the cooking. I used to cook for the roomie but after I move it’ll just be me, myself and I ;)

Erica November 30, 2009 at 2:40 pm

Lots of fun stuff going on over there- love it! Sometimes its nice to take a break from blogging and just enjoy life ;) That burger joint sounds awesome- a sweet potato bun? How fun. Cute cute pictures of you & the man.

1. Yes! Mostly because I teach group fitness and don’t have a lot of free days/times
2. I do 99.99999999999% of the cooking in my house :) I cook for Josh and I and sometimes friends- love every minute.

Happy Monday!
