a lovely weekend.

in family time,love life

hey! monday again. they sure come too soon, am i right? instead of talking about today, which was less than awesome, how about i touch on some highlights from the weekend and pretend it’s still the here.

weekends start on friday night for me, so i will start there. i did this new GPP workout friday night and it was REALLY good—like, really good! i liked it a lot. so i was sore from that and decided to take a gym hiatus until today. it’s usually pretty hard to get myself to work out on saturday and sunday, haha.. there are way too many other things to do!

friday night i made the chicken tikka masala recipe i mentioned in my last post. holy crap, guys. IT WAS SO GOOD.

so, so good. it tasted so authentic. and the best part? it was WAY easy to make! it is going into our regular rotation, for sure.

saturday was valentine’s day. we don’t make a big to-do about the holiday, but we always exchange cards and sometimes gifts. this year i put money in marshall’s paypal account so he could feed his vinyl addiction. he got me two pair of beautiful earrings. and, of course, cards. i love greeting cards. i could look at them for hours. marshall is an awesome card-picker-outer so i always look forward to that.

we decided fox needed a valentine, so we headed to the bookstore to pick something out.

one of our favorite books is if you give a mouse a cookie, so we decided to get him if you give a dog a donut. it’s adorable!

we spent some time outside because utah has decided to skip winter. no complaints!

fox started sitting up unassisted over the weekend. he face plants every so often, but he is getting better and better at it!

he is a lot happier when upright, so i am glad he will be able to sit up by himself soon. right now we make sure we are there to catch him when he falls.. but pretty soon he won’t need a spotter, haha.

during the day, marshall was running errands, so fox and i decided to go visit momma b at an estate sale she was sitting at. fox loves her! i can’t blame him, we all do.

they had sooo many cool dishes at the sale. i have zero room in my kitchen for new dishes, but i loved looking at them. check out these pots and pans, haha i am in the market for a new set!

i ended up buying a couple cast iron skillets, because you can never have too many of those when you have a basset hound that pulls them off the stove and breaks them. and, yeah, i have one of those.

fox fell asleep on the way home, so i decided to go through the in’n’out drive thru to let him get a little bit longer of a nap. a burger and a dr. pepper was just what i needed. (but i hate their fries! anyone else?)

every year marshall makes me tacos on valentine’s day. they are always different. this year he made tri tip tacos and they were sooo good!

he cooked the steak in spices until medium well. then he diced it up and stirred it into a mixture of refried black beans, sauteed mushrooms, onions, tomatillo and bell pepper. he made guacamole to put on top along with cheese and sour cream. he also fried some corn tortillas for the base. i am thinking these need to be made again ASAP.

the majority of the weekend was spent binge watching the walking dead, complete with popcorn and penny. (randy too, but he was on the floor.)

i totally get the hype now. i was always a nay sayer, thinking it wasn’t that great of a show. until i watched it. and now i can’t stop! we are on season three. nobody tell me what happens!

sunday we went to trader joe’s for our weekly grocery shopping. this week’s menu includes mediterranean stuffed chicken with harvest grain pilaf (i will have to post my recipe!), BBQ pulled chicken sandwiches, this cuban dish that jenn made for us awhile back, and chicken noodle soup. should be a tasty week!

sunday evening we headed up to my parents’ place for dinner. nothing beats sunday dinner made by mom, right?

pot roast, rolls, asparagus, avocado, cucumbers, and mashed potatoes. it hit the spot. we also had brownies for dessert. fox tried some mashed potatoes!

i think he found them pretty bland and definitely preferred the avocado.

and here are a couple more fox photos from my parents’ place…because he melts my heart.

sunday night was spent with more binge watching of the walking dead. and tonight will probably be the same. housework can wait, right?!

hope you all had a great weekend and also that you have a fantastic week ahead. chat again soon!

he’s so darn cute!! those cheeks!! filling out nicely!! haha and well done, marshall!! my favorite homemade meal growing up was my mom’s pasta con broccoli – she did like a half white half red sauce and made it really spicy – so good! and her twice baked potatoes! #carblover :)

Weekend highlight was having a three-day weekend! My favorite homemade meal growing up was (and still is) my mom’a chicken cacciatore. I can’t eat it anyplace else, because NOTHING compares to hers.

Fox looks so grown up in that last picture! Super cute.

Growing up my favourite meal was probably the seafood rice we’d have on Christmas Eve. I love carrying on the trend with my own fish and seafood dishes the night before Christmas…

Another fun recap! I just can’t get enough photos of Fox!! He is the happiest little man I know

Oh my goodness, he is the cutest, J.

I’ve never had in n’ out so I have no idea if I like their fries or not!

TWD is sooooo good! Enjoy the ride.

My weekend highlight was chillin’ with my husband. As for my fave meal growing up, it was probably my mom’s spaghetti, with sauce from a jar (she did add ground beef!), lol! It hit the spot, what can I say?

PS: Did Jenn and her fam make you picadillo? I’ve been wanting to try that! Share a recipe if you have a good one? Thx! <3

My favorite dishes growing up were either my Dad’s roast chicken with stuffing or steak with homemade french fries.

YAY for sitting unassisted!! Once Emma figured that out, she turned into the world’s happiest baby, she HATED laying down!

You have the most awesome clothes for Fox. I am enjoying dressing my baby girl in zip-up onesies with animals on the butt and feet. Weekend highlight = taking my 3.5 month old to my haircut appointment and realizing everything was totally fine. She didn’t freak out. I can do stuff with her.

sadly, our highlight was ikea, which was followed by a horrendous ‘mini blizzard’ which left tons of trees down and our power was out for so long our pipes froze and busted. COOL.

walking dead is SO good. i was anti zombies until we watched the first episode and then we binge watched it too! we just got done with blacklist and need to figure out how to get season 2! haha

Janetha February 18, 2015 at 1:07 pm

my boss told me we have to watch that next!
