five lists of fiiiiive.

five things that happened today:

1. the vitamix broke :( marshall was using a plastic spoon as a plunger and there was a slight mishap. i think we can send it in for repair, though, so it’s all good!

2. i had a lunch date with the best mom ever. thanks for lunch, momma b! we went to whole foods and had salad with a side of good conversation. that’s the best side dish, if you ask me.

3. i exchanged one thing for another at lulu… i got these bordeaux wunder unders that i’ve been lusting after. i plan to wear them as leggings rather than work out pants, thankyouverymuch.

4. i bought a bunch of stuff in preparation for tomorrow’s race.. including football gloves. yes, football gloves. for the tough mudder. i never thought i would buy football gloves…

5. i skipped the gym and ate lots of carbs instead. let’s face it, a 10+ mile obstacle race is nothing to sneeze at… i am saving myself for that.

five recipes i MUST make that DO NOT involve pumpkin:
(fact: nearly every new recipe right now involves pumpkin…not necessarily a bad thing!)

1. maple pork tenderloin with rosemary cherry pan sauce from my life as a mrs.

2. apple cider sangria from how sweet it is.

3. crock pot cauliflower sweet potato bisque from yes i want cake.

@Katie Unger's amazing cauliflower sweet potato bisque

4. breakfast pizza from smitten kitchen.

breakfast pizza, ready

5. reese’s peanut butter spiders from one good thing. (so cute, right?!)

Reeses Spider

five things i’m doing tomorrow:

1. waking up at 4:15 in the AM. i should go to sleep now. like, really, now. why am i blogging?!

2. (hopefully) completing the tough mudder with my bestie, kristen.

3. dropping by a very important two year old’s house to deliver a birthday card. happy birthday, greyson! he is two today.

4. going to see kerryne take first place in the NPC bikini show.

5. eating pizza. and ice cream. really, i can’t have a list without at least one item being about food. yes, everything always has to do with food.. didn’t you know?

five posts i recently loved from thought catalog:
(for the record, I LOVE THIS WEBSITE. probably because many of the posts contain lists…)

1. ten things we did better as kids. (this is a must-read.)

2. yeah, trick, i am wearing leggings as pants. wanna fight about it?

3. 32 problems we’re lucky to have.

4. 32 signs you’re dating a keeper.

5. 20 positions is sucks to be put in.

well look at that.. a list without a food reference. i guess it is possible, after all!

five winners of the muir glen giveaway:
(picked the winners with

1. #1 michelle

2. #53 katie

3. #111 amy

4. #40 ML bishop

5. #57 helen

oh, and one more winner for good measure.. #110 danielle (itsaharleyyylife) is the winner of the knoshbox giveaway!

*winners: please use my contact form to send me your mailing address ASAP! thanks!

also, if you are a utah local and would like to go to the utah gluten free expo tomorrow (the 13th), please let me know! the simply bar has a booth there and has some free tickets to distribute!

that’s all for tonight. i will post again on sunday… if i don’t die at the race.

something for you to do:

give me a list of five. anything goes!

5 Great Things About Today
1. All my students’ papers are correctly. Truly amazing! I will start the week caught up.
2. Starbucks iced Chai tea. A perfect Friday treat.
3. A great salad for dinner.
4. A beautiful autumn day.
5. And best of all, my little sis does not have cancer (as we feared). Her tests nailed a 6mm kidney stone as the cause of her problems. Not fun, but we are too happy that we avoided the Big C to care right now!!!!!

Katie @ Talk Less, Say More October 12, 2012 at 8:20 pm

1 – I have a $50 gift card towards Lulu. it will be my first (!!!) and those pants are very high on the list!
2 – Having today off and making lots of good food was good for my soul.
3 – I officially became CPR certified and scary enough nearly had to use it today.
4 – I’m hoping the rain will hold off a couple hours so I can get in some apple picking with the fam in the morning.
5 – A glass of wine is also good for the soul.

2) Buy some pink accessories for a hen night (kind of bachelorette party) I’m going to soon.
3) Go back to the amazing food market and buy lots of different cheeses. Then eat bread and cheese for dinner.
4) Wear my new dress out – haven’t got many “dressy” type plans at the moment :(
5) Go swimming!

5 awesome ice creams:

Breyer’s light dark chocolate velvet
Haagen Daaz dulce de leche
Prestige (Winn Dixie house brand premium) Key Lime Pie
Ben & Jerry’s Frozen Greek Yogurt PB & Banana
Cabot 2% plain Greek Yogurt mixed w/ Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa powder, vanilla, & stevia and then run through the fro-yo machine and topped w/chopped frozen bananas then drizzled w/Earth Balance coconut pb

I recently got a single-serve fro-yo maker, and it is life-changing. Seriously, I use it every single day.

-Your taco soup. One of my family’s favorites
-Vitamix. My husband uses ours to increase his daily fruits/vegetables. I’m looking forward to some of Marshall’s recipes.
-Fashletics. I especially enjoy their jewelry
-Creamy Chia Cocoa Pudding from Lauren

Good luck tomorrow and can’t wait to hear all about it!

Janetha October 14, 2012 at 10:23 am

Heather October 13, 2012 at 9:21 pm

Good luck tomorrow! I loved Tough Mudder!

Trisha October 13, 2012 at 9:33 pm

5K! That’s my 5. I participated in my first today & somehow, some way, managed to run most of it. I’m not a runner, this is not me. But for the sake of being doused with multi-colored cornstarch colors ala Color Me Rad, I did it. And you know what? I can’t wait to run again. Of course it’s nothing compared to the Tough Mudder, hope you rocked it!

Susan October 14, 2012 at 9:48 am

Really just commenting to say I LOVE THOUGHT CATALOG. I like to take “mini breaks” at work by reading stuff on that website and it makes me love life just a little bit more. Anyways, because I’m commenting, here are 5 songs I am listening to on repeat:

1. House That Heaven Built – Japandroids
2. Rivers and Roads – The Head and the Heart
3. Ho Hey – The Lumineers
4. Hallways – Islands
5. Hospital Beds – Cold War Kids

Hope the Tough Mudder went okay!

Calee October 14, 2012 at 1:29 pm

Glad to hear you can send in your vitamix! :) And I’m also glad I’m not the only one that wears lulus as regular leggings.

Five things I planned to do yesterday, but instead, spent the day in my car waiting for Mark to help my friend fix her car:
1.) Sip hot tea alongside a lake and look at the pretty leaves
2.) Go for a run along some winding back-country roads — no iPod
3.) Take a hot bath
4.) Do some vinyasas outside by the lake
5.) [ edited because it’s x-rated ]
