You are one of very few people who I would take 11 minutes of my life to watch on video- and love every stinkin’ second! Gah, makes me miss you!

You still have a rockin belly even when it’s bloated. LOL on Penny- oh the inconvenience of it all!!! And hugs to momma b who is the best. By the way, aside from needing tape on your glasses (ha) you look amazing in them. Gorgeous in fact.

Love you.

Eden October 22, 2011 at 12:22 am

Jbean is one of the maybe 3 people I’d watch! (deb, you included!).

Susan October 22, 2011 at 9:33 am

Was just about to say the same thing! I usually blank on vlogs but I could listen to JG ramble all day.

Lindsay @ Lindsay's List October 22, 2011 at 2:50 pm

4th person to say this…i’m a follower, not a leader. Janetha love all around!

Missy October 22, 2011 at 3:26 pm

I was gonna say it last night but crazy computer wouldn’t let me comment.

You are just way too adorable – even sick and hungry ;)

Abby @ Abz 'n' Oats October 21, 2011 at 11:38 pm

I feel like I say this about all of the vlogs I have watched but I expected you to sound so different! lol :) I hope you get to feeling better soon! Have a good weekend!

Cheri Z October 21, 2011 at 11:43 pm

Dang girl! Hope that your meds make a difference! This has got to be so frustrating for you. Hope that it eases off and lets you enjoy the weekend. Take care. Penny and Randy are the cutest!

Rhonda October 22, 2011 at 12:04 am

Your gut rambles sound like my daily ramblings. Thanks for your honesty, I can definitely relate :-s

PS- the pasta sauces sound delicious, hope you share the recipes!

Lauren @ Recipes for a Quarterlife October 22, 2011 at 12:14 am

yes, please share the pumpkin sage sausage sauce you mentioned. sounds great! i love that you don’t limit yourself to vegan or veggie or other styles of foods. you’re an inspiration! belly rubs to the pups!

Eden October 22, 2011 at 12:24 am

Oh dear! Whats with you getting sick after you visit Deb and I?

Dude, I’m totally missing you, it hurts. And please make the glasses a regular thing.

Love you!

Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) October 22, 2011 at 12:26 am

I know! Do we have the cooties? At least this time didn’t involve projectile vomit, so there’s that :-)

Kerryne October 22, 2011 at 12:48 am

Your hilarious. It sucks that your not feeling well, I hope that you feel better SOON. That is no fun at all. Your adorable!

Marie October 22, 2011 at 1:06 am

You are so funny and cute! The dogs are so adorable! I hope you feel better soon!

suki October 22, 2011 at 2:12 am

vegetables cause a LOT of gas. :/ i was in pain for a day because of that. not cool. good belly/yogurts has probiotics, are they same kinds? they’re a cheaper option, in the meantime? :( eesh.

elise October 22, 2011 at 2:52 am

read into fodmaps. now. what you are experiencing is the fermentation of carbs (the certain kinds are the o.d.m.a.p in fodmaps) and because you (and i) have lazy motility, the food sits there, then in ferments, which attracts bacteria, which ferments more, which releases co2 and methane (more gas) and has an osmotic effect on the gut too. in other words, thats why youre a gassy mess.
i have tons of references if you want. im currently on the galactans challenge of fodmaps and its the worst yet. i stopped because i didnt wanna be blaoted on my bday but im really not pleased that chickpeas and hummus are so hard to tolerate right now. oh and my follow up blood work at the allergist office was devastating. but i dont have the energy to think about it right now. ugh. why is this happening!!!!!!!!!

lindsay October 22, 2011 at 6:48 am

good call elise! We have had to go through FODMAPS in our family house hold. It is sad to eliminate certain foods but gotta do whatcha gotta do.

Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) October 22, 2011 at 5:03 pm

aggg- the girl will never be able to have peaches!!

Janetha November 2, 2011 at 2:24 pm

I love that you are so informative! That makes total sense. I do want references.. send em my way!

Lauren October 22, 2011 at 6:22 am

Oh girl, I am so sorry to hear you are in pain. I can definitely relate (especially when you say that you are hungry but your stomach just hurts). Okay, has your doc said anything about digestive enzymes? They were a MIRACLE for me!!! I take one every day and they are pretty affordable. It honestly helps me break down the food that my body can’t do on its own. I’m also on a treatment so I’m not saying just take the enzymes but they are a lot cheaper than a probiotic. Please please call me if you ever want to chat. I could write a book on this stuff I feel. :)

lindsay October 22, 2011 at 6:45 am

ditto to everyone! Youre not rambling, your just chattin with your friends. I actually had to d othat same regimen. But it was 15 days on antibiotic and then a flush/probiotic. It helped a lot! cheap? not really. Kombucha helped. Let me know how it goes friend. Thinking of you!

lindsay October 22, 2011 at 6:49 am

zypan helps with breakdown the protein in foods and choline helps break down the fat. I think zypan restores hydrochloric acid in the stomach so that you your gut can repair. I am on both.

Janetha November 2, 2011 at 2:24 pm

Thank you for the info, love!

Susan October 22, 2011 at 7:34 am

Yay! Love your face.

I’m sorry you are still in pain. I’ve been thinking about you. I’m glad you have a few treatment options to try. I think with any health issue it usually ends up being a combination of interventions and circumstances that works best.

Keep us posted. Have fun at the wedding and the market this weekend!

Lauren @ What Lauren Likes October 22, 2011 at 7:59 am

Great vlog! Love the owl ring :D

Susan October 22, 2011 at 9:37 am

I have a bunch of comments but first and foremost this video made me MISS youuuu!!!

Anyways, loved the dog cameos. Penny has similar eyes as Buster (and apparently the same snoring habits). Moms are indeed the best. My mom is at my pharmacy all the time, I’d be lost without her. Hope your stomach feels better for some pasta eating this weekend. And especially bread pudding. Ohmy.

cathy@1970kikiproject October 22, 2011 at 9:53 am

j, you sound so sweet!! your voice is a lot higher than what i’ve always “pictured” in my head, if that makes sense. so fun to see your talking personality vs your blogging personality.
have fun at the wedding tonight.
i’m so sorry that your gut issues continue. that is so sweet that your mom took care of going to the doc on your behalf. moms are the best!!

Katie October 22, 2011 at 10:16 am

I loved your video session :) & I’m glad to see your a Packer fan because I’m from Wisconsin!

Vanessa October 22, 2011 at 10:18 am

Love your video posts! P.S. Your dogs are so flippin’ adorable!! :-)

momma b. October 22, 2011 at 11:04 am

Love the rambles and I even know the story haha!!
I’d say a little duct tape rolled and stuck on the bridge of your nose should do the trick. :)

You are beautiful and I love you! !!!

Lara October 22, 2011 at 11:15 am

Oh yes, my doggies have an equally tough life and need to rest as much as possible ;)
It’s really cool that you guys have such a good relationship with Marshall’s ex!
I want to attend the pasta party! The selection of foods sounds do gourmet :)
I hope the new meds from Mama B help your tummy :( It has to be said though, even with all these GI problems, you still have rocking’ abs!

Deb (SmoothieGirlEatsToo) October 22, 2011 at 5:07 pm

I love that they have a good relationship with Marshall’s Ex too. I think that says a lot about peoples’ character in certain cases.

whitney October 22, 2011 at 11:22 am

Mynatural path says meany people have healed their gut with the GAPS diet and Paleo/primal diet.

Rachel October 22, 2011 at 11:37 am

I found that really interesting. I love your glasses and can you tell us the brand name?

Penny and Randy are so sweet. :)

The Delicate Place October 22, 2011 at 1:16 pm

h’ok. so. i think you are right in trying the elimination diet first and foremost. last year i would go to the doc and have eaten something 3 hrs prior and he’d listen to my intestines and be like ‘did you just eat?!’ apparently it should have been pretty quiet since i’d eaten so long before. i had a slow mover as well and i totally understand that it’s hard to eat, i also found it hard to “feel” hunger either since all i could feel was pain. my body was weak, i was irritable because i wasn’t being properly fueled and yet i looked like i was 5mos pregnant. it does get better! however, it wasn’t an easy fix and it took me about 6 weeks of really watching what i ate (no dairy & no wheat…i found out about the celiac stuff later so i still don’t eat that but i will have dairy from time to time…too good not to enjoy!). i avoided coffee (that was so hard!) and drank peppermint tea religiously! if you find you are having no progress with the elimination diet, you can try a couple of these to ease some symptoms. ever hear of it? http://www.drugstore.com/natures-way-activated-charcoal-capsules/qxp29130

megan October 22, 2011 at 4:11 pm

such a cute vlog! i kiss my doggie all the time too. penny’s glare at you after she plopped back down on the couch was hilarious. have a great weekend! hope your belly feels better!

Kathryn October 22, 2011 at 5:00 pm

I liked your video. I swear I have a slow colon as well. Without being TMI, we have similar symptoms. Thanks for sharing!

Erica October 22, 2011 at 7:14 pm

Glad your mom got your meds for you! Go momma b! Your poor tummy!! Enjoy the wedding

Gina October 22, 2011 at 7:16 pm

I’m not a doctor but if I was in your position, the first thing I would eliminate is dairy. I hope I’m not offending you in any way when I say it seems like you eat a lot of it. I know it sucks to not eat your favorite things like cottage cheese and yogurt and some even rely on it for their protein source, but it might help the pain. I have a friend who ate egg whites almost everyday, went to get checked for food allergies because she had some problems, and turns out she’s allergic to egg whites!

julie October 22, 2011 at 8:17 pm

are you like me and ramble on video when you don’t want to type? hahahaha

Sana October 22, 2011 at 10:05 pm

Holy guts! I don’t have anything near as bad as you do, but I used to eat a shit ton of beans and veggies and I had horrible gas. Like I could not even hangout with my friends. Thankfully I realized that cheese and carbs are my bff’s and now I don’t have awk gas issues. Feel better!

Lauren @ Oatmeal after Spinning October 22, 2011 at 10:17 pm

That is SO not how I would have expected youth sound!
You are so gosh darn cute. Hope everything gets figured out (and better) REAL soon.
Oh- and i want a blogger event in Colorado.

Pamela T October 23, 2011 at 4:35 am

Have you ever tried/heard of Align? It’s an over-the-counter probiotic that my sister used to take. It eased a lot of her stomach pains! You can get it at regular stores (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) or for the same price but a bigger supply at Costco. Costco even sells it with a coupon from time to time. It worked out to be about a dollar a day as I recall.

Sarah October 23, 2011 at 7:58 am

Oh grrrr….sorry to hear you’re still in so much pain!!!! I must say my gut has been playing up super bad these past few days and it really just impacts on day to day life. Have you ever thought about having a breath test to diagnose possible food intolerances??? They can do a hydrogen breath test to diagnose for fructose and lactose malabsorption. These pesky guys can cause a LOT of gas if you don’t absorb them properly. From personal experience anything from the onion and garlic family are common offenders that cause pain, bloating, etc. Just something you might want to look out for. And prob mentioned this before but low FODMAP diet a good elimination diet to figure out your food triggers. For more info on breath tests check out this site: http://shepherdworks.com.au/disease-information/hydrogen-breath-testing There is also lots of info about the low FODMAP diet and other resources that might be able to help you in your quest to a happier tummy!!!

Janetha November 2, 2011 at 2:29 pm

Wow, I have never heard of this. Thank you for the info!

Hope October 23, 2011 at 11:13 am

I’m so sorry that you are still in so much pain. I hope you feel better soon and that the medicine starts helping you :)

mcintosh October 23, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Have you tried tightening the screws on those specs? Mine stretch out constantly and I have to do the same thing…. Love yours though (:

Hope you get this GI gunk figured out…not fun having an appetite but not being able to eat comfortably. Grrrrr!!!!

Oh and that color blue is perfect for you.

sofia October 23, 2011 at 8:22 pm

lovely to hear your voice, miss janetha, via the vlog (ha) but sad to hear about these gut issues :( good for you for addressing it though! i too have some issues related to this (ahem) and instead try to ignore them and hope they go away. hmmm. keep us updated!

kelli October 23, 2011 at 9:32 pm

aww love this video so cute!! I hope you figure this all out without surgery, that will be amazing!! You are so strong remember that. I feel your pain…I wish my stomach was like yours LOL mine looks so much worse!!! Anyway good luck with trial/error and medicine<3

Pure2raw twins October 25, 2011 at 8:04 am

loved the video! so good to hear your voice.
sorry you are still having stomach issues, i go through periods of doing okay and then everything comes back, ugh. i think i have a lazy colon or something too. seriously think you could be our triplet! :)

Christin@purplebirdblog October 25, 2011 at 12:47 pm

I am so sorry to hear about your colon issues! I have a loooong history of crappy colon (hahaha) problems, so I totally understand. Hoping that your regimen is just what you need to get back on track! <3

Paige October 25, 2011 at 3:51 pm

Ha you’re probably one of the only bloggers who could hold my attention for an eleven minute video. :) Congratulations! I am sure you feel very honored. Hope these fancy probiotics help your innards!

Heather @ Kiss My Broccoli October 27, 2011 at 8:31 pm

Seriously girl, you are like one of the only people that can actually hold my attention on a vlog for longer than 3 minutes! Haha! I hope that medicine gets to working quickly for ya! And hooray for Momma B coming in to save the day! I know she’s got to be worried about you.

Heather October 27, 2011 at 8:38 pm

hey janetha, i have had a lot of similar problems…i’ve tried a lot of different things – probiotics, dairy elimination (i don’t eat a lot to begin with, but did it for a solid week), gluten reduction, activated charcoal ,metamucil (that dr. was a QUACK…i eat a ton of fiber already)…anyway i recently went to a holistic doctor who had me start taking quite a few various things and after about a week and a half i am already feeling AMAZINGLY better. right now i am taking a GI repair supplement, digestive enzyme, probiotic, and colon cleanse. it’s a lot but his idea is to wean me off once my system starts regulating itself. not sure if this could help you but maybe something to look into!

Janetha November 2, 2011 at 2:21 pm

Hey Heather! Thanks for your comment. I would love to hear more about the exact items/brands of the items you are taking so I can look into them!
