in groceries

hey guys! i have a lot of fun stuff from the weekend to recap, but i am really short on time as i am catching a movie in 45 minutes. we are finally going to see bridesmaids!

i didn’t want to leave you completely hanging, so i decided to show you what i got from sunflower market and costco today on my usual sunday grocery trip.

i was grocery shopping for a LONG time today, because we are completely out of several things. between me being out of town and deathly ill, it really left the cupboards and fridge bare.

first up: sunflower market.

check out P & R relaxing in their cave… wishing they got some of the goods above.

starting on the left..

  • tofu
  • low sodium deli turkey
  • ground chicken breast
  • laughing cow cheese
  • spirutein protein powder single serving packets (in cookies & cream and cappucino)
  • salsa
  • cherry jam (for marshall)

in the middle.. produce fun.

  • sprouts
  • cauliflower & broccoli (precut)
  • mushrooms
  • grape tomatoes
  • cucumbers
  • braeburn apples
  • red onions
  • cilantro
  • lemons
  • cute little mangos (impulse buy)
  • bananas
  • asparagus

moving to the right..

  • rolled oats
  • shredded spoonfuls (for marshall)
  • knock off kashi go lean
  • onion bagels
  • oat bran bread
  • almond milk
  • pom juice (for marshall)

some of these items were for breakfasts and lunches and i also bought the things i needed to make for my weekly dinner plan.  here’s what is on our menu this week:

  • spaghetti with ground chicken marinara
  • stuffed bell peppers
  • tofu masala with veggies
  • salmon piccata and asparagus
  • sweet potato black bean chicken enchiladas

i had to make a pretty hefty costco trip today.  i won’t show you the non-grocery items (because paper towels, toilet paper and deodorant is boring) but i will show you the food finds.

starting from the left again!

  • raspberries
  • blackberries
  • grapes
  • bell peppers
  • spinach

you may wonder how we go through this produce before it goes bad, since it is just the two of us. the grapes and berries go straight into the freezer and marshall uses them for his shakes. i go through spinach like a maniac.. and bell peppers are great to snack on. none of this will go bad.

in the middle..

  • flavored chobani (for marshall)
  • eggs
  • chicken breasts
  • plain greek yogurt
  • cottage cheese

and finally, on the right:

  • black beans
  • larabars (for marshall)
  • sprouted wheat bread (for marshall)

i also bought two boxes of marshall’s ready to drink protein shakes.. they are on sale right now for $5 off! deal.

i put all the groceries away and laughed.. am i the only one who has a whole drawer in the fridge for chobani?

marshall is off riding his bike. so i made myself a quick and easy dinner with my new purchases.

a toasted onion bagel sandwich with laughing cow, dijon mustard, turkey, sprouts and cucumber. i LOVE this combo.

well, gotta jet! be back tomorrow with a recap of the weekend.

1. do you shop at bulk stores (costco/sam’s club/etc)?

2. what’s in your shopping cart this week? any new to you purchases?

Looks like some good finds! I also had tons of stuff because I was out of almost everything!

I don’t belong to a discount store, but it’s on my list of things to accomplish in life…

We have a huge hunk of our fridge dedicated to Chobani and Fage, now more than ever because I just got my crazy picky fiance to eat Strawberry chobani – Score!

My newest find this week was nutritional yeast. I keep reading about it, but have yet to use it!

I love that “belong to a discount store” is on your list of accomplishments in life! You crack me up!

I used to shop at BJ’s (worst name for a bulk store ever.) but I ended up spending way more money buying things in bulk that I didn’t need in bulk, ya know?

I’m trying not to grocery shop too much before I move to Asheville, so I’m playing pantry warrior lately :)

I absolutely love buying fruit and yogurt at Costco. We blow through that stuff too. Especially the berries. Recently, I’ve been eating more spinach too so I should probably start buying that as well.

I love the Chobani drawer. Too funny!

I told myself to hold off on grocery shopping for a few days as I went overboard recently but now I really want to go. I love it so much.

ohh i am intrigued by spirutein? is this a whey protein…gosh I cant stand when people ask me questios when I can google it myself and find out haha and I realize im doing that here! i’ll go find out…don’t you worry…BUT does it taste good??

love looking at other bloggers grocery hauls!

YES it tastes good! My only beef is that it is high carb. Well, like equal carb-to-protein. I like low carb powders so I can add my own carbs (fruit). But it tastes AMAZING.
