hey guys!

it’s 11 PM on sunday night. lots has happened since last night at 11 PM. and you better believe i am going to ramble about it.

after my marathon cleaning sesh on saturday, i was on a mission.

i am sure several of you have seen ashley’s socca crackers which inspired mama pea’s cinnamon toast crunch recipe.  well, being the cereal monster that i am, i had to try out the recipe.

it is dangerous how easy it is to make cereal from scratch.


it’s safe to say i ate all the crumbs from the pan..


…along with almost a third of the cereal pieces before i even put them in the oven for the final crisp.


this recipe was a breeze. the only problem i ran into was that i was out of milk. at 12:30 AM on a saturday night (sunday morning?), this is a problem.

well, unless you have a really good cookie recipe and a husband who wants you to make him cookies.

i struck a deal with marshall. if he went out to get me milk for my cereal, i would whip up a batch of fat, fluffy snickerdoodles. they were so good when i made them the other day and he was begging for more.

win-win situation, if you ask me.

i held up my end of the bargain and whipped up a batch of snickerdoodles for marshall.

our friend dave was over and dave likes cookies, too. however, dave is vegan. i couldn’t possibly leave him out of the delicious cookie extravaganza, so i decided to try making a vegan version of jessica’s recipe.

the non-vegan ones are on the left. they are slightly fluffier than the vegan ones on the right.. but not by much!





i was really impressed at how fluffy and chewy the vegan version turned out. for those who want to know, i followed the original  recipe exactly except i replaced the butter with earth balance, the egg with one ener-G egg replacer egg and the milk with almond milk. so simple!

and you can’t even tell the difference.


i was up until 3 AM baking, eating cereal, eating cookies, drinking milk and hanging out with marshall & dave. i know, we are party ANIMALS.

sunday morning, marshall & i woke up bright and early around 10 AM and i had ONE thing on my mind…




because i didn’t have much of my homemade cereal left (clearly i have a problem with eating too much cereal at once) i decided to bulk it up with a banana and some kamut puffs.


side note: kamut puffs are the jam! i love that they have ONE ingredient and taste just like unsweetened smacks. plus, because they only have 60 calories per 1 cup serving, i don’t feel bad about eating 3 cups in one sitting. yes, it’s happened. a lot.


okay, i know the 18 photos of cereal is overkill. i am mainly just sad it is gone. you better believe i will be making another batch tomorrow.

this afternoon, marshall & i went to the mall so he could get some workout clothes. wait, what? oh yeah.. i forgot to tell you guys that my husband has turned over a new leaf and officially wants to work out with me every day. i have died and gone to heaven. it’s the best ever. i typically don’t like working out with people, but it’s really nice to have the extra motivation. plus, he’s cute.

we also hit up whole foods for lunch and barnes & noble where i bought a new cook book.. more on that later.

it was 3 o’clock by the time we got home, and our gym closes at 3 on sunday. lame. luckily, my parents have a gym at their house. we were conveniently going to their house for dinner, so we just went up there early for a workout.

marshall did back & shoulders and i did cardio & abs. i ran 30 minutes of intervals on the treadmill for a total of 3.25 miles and then did various ab moves. penny & randy helped with my crunches.

it was a fun family filled time at the gym.. to make it even more full of family fun, we watched family feud on TV while working out. weeeeee.

dinner was great. i feel like i hadn’t seen my family in ages! it was fun to catch up and eat delicious food together.

we had TWO kinds of minestrone soup~


one with sausage on the left and one with ground turkey on the right. my mom is a babe and caters to my ground turkey lovin’ taste buds.


there were rolls~


and i made a salad filled with lettuce, garbanzos, kidney beans, black olives, pickled beets, cucumbers, shredded carrots & avocado.


served with annie’s italian.. love this dressing!

this was delicious. glad i have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

i wonder if he’s really my brother’s son? i mean, they look nothing alike.


i wonder if she is related to them? ha.


my nephews are only weeks apart, but look how much different in size they are!


they are both such cuties.


we also whipped up some ice cream for dessert.


i didn’t eat ice cream though.. why? well, i had a snickerdoodle waiting at home for me, of course.


and now it’s time for bed.

dang. i am long winded.

fun weekend!

I workout alone and probably prefer it that way, UNLESS the person I workout with motivates me to push myself even harder.

The last thing I made from scratch was honey wheat bread, and it turned out pretty good. I’m hoping to perfect the recipe in the next couple of attempts.

Andy and I work out together every now and then and I LOVE IT! He is so cute.

I’m jealous of the cute nephews you have, I love babies. I don’t want one of my own quite yet but I want someone close to me to have one! Too cute!!!

aw wonderful family pics! The pic of your bro & his boy is like WOW – exactly alike! And the nephews are too cute – so funny how they can be the same age but so different in size!

Yum homemade cereal! I workout alone, I prefer it that way. I like to go on walks with friends but when I to the gym it’s all business and I enjoy that time to just be alone.

Aww it was nice of you to make vegan cookies so your friend wouldn’t be left out!
I think I’m going to have to make that cereal, it seems pretty easy and anything with cinnamon is a guaranteed winner for me :D
I usually like to work out alone but I used to go to the gym with my mother and I miss that sometimes!

i also LOVE adding kamut puffs to fill out my cereal bowls (and you’re *so* not alone in having eaten 3 cups at a time ;). The snickerdoodles look amazing!

you guys are too freakin cute.

i dont have any problem with the gratuitous cereal pics. the more the better. ive been eyeing mama peas and ashleys recipes for a while now. i have a big time cereal problem. haha. i can only buy a small amount at once or i will eat it all at once. my serving size is 6 bowls. :)

ps i love that marshall randomly decided to work out. kyle randomly told me the other week (on a wednesday) that he’d been vegetarian the entire week so far and was going to continue it. uhhh, what? haha. i was so shocked. happy. but very surprised. hes eaten meat since but is making a big effort to consume far less meat lately. rannnnndom.

Dude how did I miss this post?! It’s freaking awesome! Love those snickerdoodles! I can’t believe the vegan ones came out fluffier! I thought for sure they were the ones on the right! I’ve never tried kamut puffs, but I love wheat puffs which I imagine are about the same! I eat them straight out of the bag a lot…kinda like popcorn!

How great that Marshall is joining you in the gym! I don’t like working out with people usually, but like you said, it definitely helps out with motivation!

Mama Pea’s cereal was the last thing I made from scratch too! And now it is all gone! :( But I’m totally making your protein version like ASAP!
