breakfast + flashback friday.

in meals

hey guys! i introduced my simply switches about a week ago. if you remember, i made a list of five simple switches to incorporate into my life:

  1. eat more of a variety
  2. stop pressing snooze for so long
  3. fresh flowers in the house to brighten my mood
  4. stretching during commercials
  5. more meatless meals

i wanted to check in with these switches so i could keep myself in check! i did really well with the snooze button for about five days.. but this morning i pressed it for 45 minutes! woops. a work in progress, for sure. i still have the fresh flowers, am stretching as often as i possibly can and have planned some meatless meals (and even purchased the ingredients for them—now i just need to make them!).

the one switch that i am really doing a great job on is eating more of a variety. i didn’t mention this, but i made a decision to eat a different breakfast every morning this week.

monday

breakfast parfait: 1 cup chobani greek yogurt, 1/2 cup nature’s path ancient grains graonla & a dollup of skippy natural peanut butter.

image

tuesday

egg whites & french toast.

we usually go to the original pancake house on mondays, but this week we went on tuesday because our sales meeting was switched. i usually get eggs and oats, but i decided to ask them if they could do french toast with wheat bread. i am glad i asked, because they happily made it for me and i happily ate it!

wednesday

breakfast sandwich: 1 egg+2 egg whites scrambled, 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese & 2 slices of whole wheat toast.

 IMG_5844

i was in a big rush on wednesday (you can tell by the overexposed photos.. i didn’t even take time to properly set my camera settings. oops!), so i took my breakfast on the go.. but it was still something new!

IMG_5846

thursday

cereal & toast: kashi golean + cascadian farms multigrain squares + skim milk & a slice of whole wheat toast with skippy natural peanut butter.

IMG_5891IMG_5887IMG_5895

again, i was in a rush, so this was a quick and easy breakfast. i will be the first to admit it was lacking in protein, but the peanut butter helped keep me full.

friday

protein oatmeal: 1/3 cup oats, 1 scoop EAS premium protein powder (vanilla) & a dollup of skippy natural peanut butter.

IMG_5948

it snowed last night so i had a nice, bright backdrop for my breakfast!

IMG_5946

protein oats never fail to fill me up. i love them.

IMG_5951

tomorrow, saturday, i will be having a protein waffle or pancakes. then on sunday i will be making an omelet. seven different breakfasts for seven days! i didn’t think i’d be able to do it, but i proved myself wrong.

good job, self.

in other news, i had to go to the grocery store yesterday to get marshall some rolls for the beef stew. homeboy is not on the PB toast wagon with me. i didn’t want to go get him rolls because i knew i would walk out of the store with more than just rolls.

i was right.

IMG_5923

ugh, i am such a compulsive shopper. we all know i didn’t NEED anything at the store, yet i managed to spend $30.

i wanted to share what i got because there were some good deals that i need to clue you utahns in on! i went to smith’s marketplace in btown, FYI.

  • adora calcium discs are now sold there in both dark and milk chocolate
  • vitatops are now on sale
  • braggs is also on sale right now
  • i bought garbanzo bean flour to make ashley’s bread recipe
  • izzes are always a must for marshall
  • this organic ranch dip is great and doesn’t have MSG like the hidden valley ranch stuff (sad that it does)
  • if your husband wants rolls and you want to pretend like you baked them, buy the rhodes warm & serve. 6 “fresh baked” rolls in 12 minutes. don’t mind that they are 160 calories each and your husband ate five of them for dinner. we can’t all eat 800 calories in rolls alone each night. damn him.

 FLASHBACK FRIDAY!

time for some more wedding flashbacking! this time i will be showing you guys the wedding party photos. i did something not very traditional and actually SAW marshall before the ceremony. because of the venue, we had to have our ceremony at 7 PM. you see, we had our wedding at a tropical plant store, and so the store was open until 6 o’clock.. meaning we couldn’t barge in and get married until after closing time.

because i wanted photos in the sunshine, this meant i had to suck it up and see my mister before we sealed the deal. some say it is bad luck.. i say it is an added bonus. i got to trounce around the town in my wedding dress with some of my best friends on my wedding day. it was an absolute blast!

my photographers, brody and stacie, are geniuses. they really did a great job at capturing unique shots of the wedding party. without further rambling.. here are the photos!

i think he was grabbing my butt in the one below.

you can’t tell from the photos, but it was scorching hot outside. a big, heavy wedding dress didn’t help the sitch. i was so sweaty! i mean, it was the middle of july, after all.

the dudes had custom made pumas. marshall wouldn’t have anything else! he is obsessed. we had to have them custom made because 3 of the 4 groomsmen are vegan which = no suede or leather.

so much fun.

there you have it! tune in next week for another wedding flashback.

what are you up to this weekend? i am going to take it easy for the most part. marshall’s obviously watching the packers game on saturday night. i really need to get a handle on my messy house. it’s pretty ridiculous.

if you come clean and do laundry for me, i will make you breakfast.

clearly, i have lots of options.

Qs~

1. do you eat the same breakfast daily or switch it up? what are some of your main breakfasts?

2. married folks: did you see your spouse before the ceremony?

Your wedding photos are AMAZING! I love how they capture your joy & personality rather than feeling like staged “smile for your mother” portrait. What beautiful memories you’ve captured (and high-five for choosing flip-flops!).

I have been an oats monster over here, it’s all I have been having for breakfast, Im sure I will outgrow the oat phase and be on another breakfast kick phase : p

LOVE looking at your wedding pics, soooooooooooooo beautiful, you glowed on your wedding day, you are just so beautiful girl and I loved the colors you chose too, the boys shoes of course rock ! I loved that idea when you first mentioned it , and the photographer you had was AMAZING! A great photographer is so important, because if not, your pics could be not so good, your photographer def knew what she was doing! Or it might of been a guy, sorry to just think it was a girl! lol! Love ya and have a great weekend!

Ahhhhhhhhhh I could look at your wedding pics all day! A day you will never forget and you have these amazing pics to look at forever and for your kids one day to always look at as well!

love the one of marshall and his pal holding hands. too cute/funny. the pics are beautiful, are the ones you’re showing us ones you ordered?? because you should order all of those.

i eat the same breakfast m-f (eggs and oats) and on the weekend i replace the oats with a cinnamon raisin english muffin. i love it and it works, and i don’t get sick of them!

Dana January 15, 2011 at 11:17 am

Holly at Greek Yogurt and Apple Slices January 15, 2011 at 11:39 am

J- you’re BEAUTIFUL!!
You look like you Mom SO much- I see SO much of her in you, and she is GORGEOUS!
I remember asking you about seeing Marshall before the wedding a while ago. It’s a good idea that you did see him before, otherwise you would of had some dark pictures- and it was SUCH a pretty day out. I don’t think you could of picked a better day :)
Black + purple…you know I love it! (that’s our colors too :) )

So with you on the impulse buy thing! I just back from the store with Seth–we were there to buy groceries for HIS apartment, as I had just shopped yesterday. True to form, however, I ended up leaving with two bags full of stuff for myself. Sigh.

Cheree January 15, 2011 at 5:16 pm

The one of you laughing with the groomsmen is really cute, and I like the whole walking around town idea

One Healthy Apple January 15, 2011 at 6:25 pm

Gorgeous photography! I love your photographer style and love how modern, fun, and un-stuffy the pictures look!

My husband and I definitely saw each other before the wedding but walking down the aisle was still amazing and did not change anything.

you’re doing great mixing up your breakfast foods. i try to mix it up but what i’ll do is eat the same thing all week then next week it’ll be something else all week. yeah, still a bit boring but not too bad i suppose.
