i am taking the night off from blogging. well, actually, the whole weekend off because i don’t think you can really call my second giveaway of christmas a legit post.

it’s been a busy (and super fun) weekend, and i just want to relax with the pups and enjoy the holiday decorations we just put up today.

We have a real tree and colored lights:)

Lisa @ I'm an Okie December 5, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Now that’s a tree! love it. Love all the personal ornaments as well!

White lights all the way.

Heather December 5, 2010 at 9:44 pm

artificial…i can’t deal with the needles everywhere! and white lights all the way, i feel like they’re so much more festive and elegant :)

i feel ya on the reader thing…rest up!

janae @hungryrunnergirl.com December 5, 2010 at 9:53 pm

I love the decorations and I am all about real trees, even though my parents get a fake one:( I love white lights!

purplebirdblog December 5, 2010 at 9:53 pm

I used to have that same smores ornament, but I can’t find it! :(

Your tree is gorgeous. I’m personally a big fan of colored lights, although growing up we mostly had white and red lights.

edenseats December 5, 2010 at 9:59 pm

I’m a jew, so we dont do trees, although as much as I’d like a real one, the whole chopping down a tree only to throw it away later bugs me. I know I should drive a prius too but I drive an SUV, i am well aware of my hypocrisy.

And white light are always pleasing on the eye, so I’m with ya.

I’m not offended but I’m tooting my own horn and mentioning that my last post was hilarious.

Em December 5, 2010 at 10:03 pm

so festive!

1. we have a small artificial tree. it is really the only practical option in our small apartment. I am rather torn on the ethics of real v. artificial trees anyhow.

2. our small artificial tree has built-in white lights. we keep it classy like that.

enjoy your sunday night :)

Jenn (GH) December 5, 2010 at 10:06 pm

Real. All the way through.

Jenn (GH) December 5, 2010 at 10:06 pm

Real.

Laura (starloz) December 5, 2010 at 10:06 pm

i love the glass vase, with the tree on it, it’s beautiful.

Jenn (GH) December 5, 2010 at 10:07 pm

That’s weird. My comment posted a second time but not all of it. Oh well.

Maren December 5, 2010 at 10:16 pm

I love the Pier1 table decorations! :) They have a fluffy owl ornament there that you HAVE to go check out (if you haven’t seen it already). It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen! I am going to buy like 8 of them….I’m working there if you can’t tell. Have a good night off!

Katy December 5, 2010 at 10:20 pm

My Google Reader can get overwhelming at times too! No worries!

kbwood December 5, 2010 at 10:21 pm

Awww your first christmas as a married couple! that is so exciting :)
we have a fake tree :( my dad is allergic! so sad!

kissmybroccoli December 5, 2010 at 10:31 pm

I’ve never bought a real tree. I would love the smell, but I just worry about having to keep the cat out of it and all the needles left behind afterwards.

I only like white lights on my tree….classic!

Your tree is beautiful! LOVE the s’mores snowman ornament!

Teri [a foodie stays fit] December 5, 2010 at 10:34 pm

Real tree.

Love the angel Mabel ornament.

Love the bell wreath.

Love the penguin.

Love Janetha.

emily December 5, 2010 at 10:54 pm

Real and colored! Although my husband and I have actually yet to have our own tree yet!

Alison December 5, 2010 at 11:27 pm

I noticed the cheesehead & Packer ornament on your tree–is your husband from Wisconsin?

janetha @ meals & moves December 5, 2010 at 11:29 pm

Haha no he’s just obsessed with the packers. Even has a tattoo.

Alison December 5, 2010 at 11:31 pm

Haha ohhh.. I am from Wisconsin so I was just curious!

Alyson @ Nourished Fitness December 5, 2010 at 11:29 pm

Love your decorations! Tree=real.. always! Light= historically colored, but I actually dig white.

Tamizn December 6, 2010 at 3:29 am

Definitely real with white. Love the decor x x

MelissaNibbles December 6, 2010 at 3:30 am

I like that you took the night off from blogging, by…blogging ;)
Your decorations look great!

Jessica @ How Sweet December 6, 2010 at 5:37 am

I’ve never had a real tree, but I’d like to get one some year.

Lauren December 6, 2010 at 5:49 am

I love your tree!!! :)

Ever since we got married, we’ve been getting real trees and now its a tradition. I can’t see us going back to an artificial now. Something about having the seem of fresh Christmas is just so inviting. :)

lindsay December 6, 2010 at 6:08 am

you read fast… 634 all done? haha. JK! Hit that MARK ALL READ button girl! By the way, the penguin is too stinkin cute.

Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine December 6, 2010 at 7:17 am

I CAN’T WAIT TO GET HOME TO MY TREE!! We have a real tree. Smells so good!! And we used colored lights (the BIG bulbs) until about two years ago when my mom said it was tacky. I always loved the colors though!

Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) December 6, 2010 at 7:23 am

your house looks great!

i LOVE real trees… but this year we have a fake because we are travelling so much & have a little kitten who we didn’t know how would react to the tree. [she’s played with it 143689136times. we got it yesterday.]

white lights!

xoxo

melissadishes December 6, 2010 at 7:43 am

I love real trees, but my allergies dont. Clear lights on mine, it’s prelit. I used to string them myself on my grandmother’s tree I inherited but Dan insisted I get a new tree, so I handed it down to my sister and got a prelit 2 years ago. It’s taller and skinner than the old one (it was HUGELY wide). I like it.

I have that same snowman smores ornament! I also have a smores angel and a smores cowboy

enjoyingthechaos December 6, 2010 at 7:48 am

I am all about the real tree!! I love going with the family to pick out the perfect tree every year and then coming home, putting it up and decorating it. I love coming into my house after work to the smell of a real tree in my living room..mmmm…

I totally love the white lights but with having little kids I go with the colored lights. It’s all about the kids these days..someday, I’ll go back to my all white grownup tree..lol

Liz @ Blog is the New Black December 6, 2010 at 7:52 am

Real tree- white lights!

Erica December 6, 2010 at 8:26 am

Your tree is gorgeous! Nice and full. We are real tree people and definitely white lights :)

suni December 6, 2010 at 8:40 am

how did you score mom’s hand painted reindeer??!! isn’t there another around somewhere? i need me one of those!!

janetha @ meals & moves December 6, 2010 at 8:42 am

It’s not mom’s….its a different one I got. With no neck.

Holly December 6, 2010 at 9:31 am

real and colored. it’s the only way to go :)

love that cheesehead on the mantle, FYI. and there is no shame in hitting all as read. i’ve been doing the exact same thing – life is crazy, and sometimes there just ain’t time for blog reading!!!

thedelicateplace December 6, 2010 at 9:34 am

real tree/ white lights! i hate crazy looking trees haha. keep it simple i say :)

cbrady3 December 6, 2010 at 11:19 am

Real Tree.
White Lights (if it were up to me).

I love classy decorations, but there is definitely a place for the colorful homemade type too.

lynn @ the actor's diet December 6, 2010 at 11:22 am

i grew up with real trees. i love real trees. but since it’s really just me enjoying it (my husband’s a jew and we’ve got no kids) i stick to the fake for now. too much work!

Averie (LoveVeggiesandYoga) December 6, 2010 at 11:31 am

marking all as read, a beautiful thing

no tree, no lights
between the traveling we do in dec, the fact we are a half jewish household, and the fact that i dont want to BOTHER with the hassle of a tree…we omit trees, real or otherwise :)

Dawn (HealthySDLiving) December 6, 2010 at 12:13 pm

The tree looks beautiful! Our the last few years has been fake…just easier to deal with. When I have a family and kids around then I’ll go back to real for sure!!!

Freckled Foodie December 6, 2010 at 12:20 pm

love that jingle bell wreath! so adorable. and antique-like!

i’ll take a real over fake anyday…although fake are EASIER.

Jessy (squeezetheday) December 6, 2010 at 12:36 pm

Omg I love your decorations, they’re too cute. :)

coffeeandthepaper December 6, 2010 at 1:21 pm

Your decorations are awesome!
We have a fake tree and white lights, but I’m more of a colored fan myself. I’ve long since accepted the fake tree, especially since one year we had a real one there was a spider nest on it!

Naomi(onefitfoodie) December 6, 2010 at 1:26 pm

pretty decorations!

1) I don’t have a tree because I don’t celebrate xmas
2) I dont have lights because I don’t decorate because I don’t celebrate xmas

xox

dana @ my little celebration December 6, 2010 at 2:20 pm

I’d prefer a real tree if it weren’t for the mess of needles and having to dispose of it after Christmas. Hence the reason why I bought a fake tree this year.

White lights inside and colored lights outside : )

elise December 6, 2010 at 4:32 pm

im getting you as many NFL ornaments as i can find this holiday season. :)

BroccoliHut December 6, 2010 at 6:54 pm

1. Real usually, but I bought an artificial one for my apartment this year, as I will be heading home to Bama on the 10th.
2. Always WHITE lights!

Tiffany @ Simply Shaka December 6, 2010 at 6:57 pm

I love the wedge of cheese!

I never set up a tree b.c my birthday is in Dec and I go away for that and to see my parents so its kind of a waste of time and money. But I love real trees and colored lights!

a taste of health with balance December 6, 2010 at 7:50 pm

real tree, colored lights, although i really am a fan of white lights too!

marisa December 6, 2010 at 11:46 pm

I forgot about the volcom ornaments! My craftiness is about out.

Pure2raw twins December 7, 2010 at 1:01 pm

HAHA love the cheese head… perfect Christmas decoration I think ;)

Love all the decorations, you are hired to come decorate my place I have yet to do it!
