fingers crossed.

in meals,moves

hello! another monday is over.. only two more until the wedding. EEP! and only one of those i have to work, since i have the 5th off to observe the holiday. (hooray!)

right now i am watching the latest episode of true blood and perusing CSN stores for dining room tables and desks for the new house.  as some of you may know, i often work with CSN stores with reviews and giveaways.  they have offered to chip in to help me get a piece of furniture for my house and i will be reviewing that item of furniture soon.. well, after we are moved in!

i am digging this desk:

functional, since it is going in a smaller room, and still looks sleek & appealing. we are turning one of the extra bedrooms into a blogging/TV room.. so i can blog and marshall can watch sports or play video games but we can still hang out. yep. we are geeks.

anyway.. it is almost 11 PM but i am still going to tell you about my day (quickly) because i won’t be able to post again until wednesday.. so, here goes!

meal 1: eggbeaters & fruit & coffee & lots of agua

1 0031 0011 0041 005

HA! i bet you guys are surprised not to see oatmeal, eh? i even got several comments on my last post telling me to enjoy my eggbeaters & oatmeal today. yep, i am typically predictable. but it’s been so dang hot lately that i couldn’t stomach hot oatmeal. i swapped it out for cold, fresh fruit. it was hard enough as it is to drink hot coffee. actually, i only sipped on it and then grabbed an iced coffee on the way back to the office.

i love summer.

meal 2: caramel crunch protein bar

this was a mid morning snack and i didn’t take a photo so this one is recycled. i’ve said it before and i will say it again, this tastes just like the candy bar 100 grand.

i got sooo much accomplished at work today! the end of the month is always a busy time and i have to take most of tomorrow off, so i really had to focus today. my stomach finally got the best of me and i broke for lunch.

meal 3: tuna wrap

1 006

this was 1 flat out wrap, 1 can tuna (packed in water, 110 calories), 1 tbsp nayonaise (nasoya mayo substitute, 10 calories), spinach and mustard. simple and tasty. and quick!

1 007

i also ate a few slices of cantaloupe with my lunch.

after work i had to go to the bridal shop where i bought my dress because there was some issues with the boning bunching up and creating a buckle in the corset. and my bridal photos are tomorrow. um, not awesome.

turns out the problem is i am such a shortie and the torso of the dress is too long, so when they cinch it up there is waaaay too much fabric and the boning buckles. and it looks like garbage. ugh. SO.. last minute, emergency alterations are happening right now. well, not right NOW right now.. but before tomorrow. my portraits are at 5:30 so it better be done (and look right!) before then.. eeeeep!

after that debacle i went and got my fingernails & toenails done. oh la la. that was relaxing. i even read “people” magazine. i don’t remember the last time i sat down and read a magazine like that! it was mindless and enjoyable.

THENNNN i came home and packed my little life away. and ate another bar. because of the special delivery i received!

meal 4: lemon coconut simply bar & steamed veggies

1 011

gotta have my veggies ;) 1 008

guess who is the coolest ever?

1 010

cathy @ the simply bar! she sent me a whole huge BOX of bars! she said it was “pre-wedding fuel”. SO, SO nice :) THANK YOU, CATHY! and if you have a minute, check out the simply bar blog.

i also noshed on about 30 baby carrots, 2 big handfuls of TJ’s PB&A nut mix and a huge hunk of honeydew. randomness at it’s best.  i packed up my kitchen and part of my bedroom.

i hate packing.

and moving.

i can’t WAIT to not have to move for a long, long time! i usually move every year or less. i plan to be in the new house for at LEAST 5 years.

at 9:15 PM it had finally cooled off enough outside to go for a run! YES, I FINALLY EXERCISED TODAY!

according to i ran 2.6 miles in about 22 minutes. i didn’t take my ipod, i didn’t wear my heart rate monitor, i just threw on my running shoes and took off.

it was glorious.

i loved listening to the sounds of the summer evening and smelling fresh cut grass, wet pavement from sprinklers and other familiar smells of the season.

and it felt great to sweat. and run. and exercise. finally, after FIVE days off.

and now i am typing this! and watching true blood, still.

bridal photos tomorrow, i won’t have time to post. hope you all have a great tuesday!

1. what smells remind you of summer? fresh cut grass, BBQs and campfires.

2. when was the last time you moved? how many homes have you lived in? the last time i moved was last october (2009).. and i just counted. since i turned 18, i have lived in 9 different places. so, including the two houses i lived in growing up (we moved when i was 12).. that is 11 places! the new house will be #12!

everyone cross your fingers that my dress alterations work out! i am nervous!

god i haaaaaaaaaate moving too! thats why i bought a condo at college, so i wouldnt have to move from apartment to apartment every year. moving back home sucked too. i didn’t unpack for a week!

i never run with an ipod. i think. A LOT.

smells of summer is definitely bbqs.

Jenn June 28, 2010 at 10:26 pm

Your run sounds wonderful. It would be great to go on a run together someday.

I haven’t moved for 5 years. In college I moved all the time. It was exhausting. I’ve lived in 10 different homes since I turned 18 and left my parent’s house.

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) June 29, 2010 at 12:21 am

Ive moved once a year for the last 17 years. I swear to god since I was about 17 and in college. That would be 17 moves. Scott and I have lived in 10 houses in 10 yrs together. We never intend this but we always think the grass is greener or for some reason, we have to move. Right now, LOVE our place and dont want to move. We are “home”. Finally!

MelissaNibbles June 29, 2010 at 2:12 am

I’ve moved too many times to count. Every other year I think? The key is not to be all Lindsay Lohan hoarder-style and only keep the bare necessaties. That way you can throw all your crap in a box and jam out when you find out a meth lab is in the apartment above you (yes, I’m speaking from experience here).

A smell that reminds me of summer is bbq. I always smell it at a particular house I run by. I’m waiting for them to invite me in one of these days.

I’m a shortie too so I feel your dress pain. Good luck!

Erica June 29, 2010 at 2:45 am

ah! I totally feel you on being a major shortie and having dress issues! They had trouble altering my dresses too. Hope the bridal portraits go well. I’m sure you will look amazing. Hooray for the bars! I still haven’t tried those.

1. what smells remind you of summer? definitely fresh cut grass, honeysuckle, jasmine!

2. when was the last time you moved? how many homes have you lived in?I moved a year and a half ago. I’ve lived in 8 states. Not sure how many homes- too many to count :)

Naomi (onefitfoodie) June 29, 2010 at 3:15 am

i sometimes LOVE not bringing music on my runs or walks, it is so nice to take in all the surroundings and just not be bombarded with music…at the gym, thats another story i NEED my ipod when working out or lifting weights inside! if not, I go a bit crazy! hehe

good idea with the fruit, it was SO SO SO hot here yesterday and about 90% humidity which didn’t help much either! I think tomorrow is an overnight oats kinda day, def not a hot oats one!

thats so nice of cathy at the simply bar! i still have yet to try them!! you are going to look so freakin hot in your wedding dress, I cannot wait to see you!!

i moved in feb into my apt! I was living at home with my parents and moved out with some roomies! it was a nice change!

smells that remiond me of summer…grilling, fresh cut grass, mulch, boat fuel :)
love you!

Jessica @ How Sweet It Is June 29, 2010 at 3:37 am

BBQ, beach scents, fresh cut grass, too – many similar smells! I love it!

Lauren June 29, 2010 at 3:41 am

Only two more weeks?!?! Girl you are down to the wire! :) Looks like you are getting a lot accomplished though. I remember I had to go back 6 times until my dress fit perfect. Apparently being small and wearing a 30 lb dress does not make the life of a seamstress easy. Oh well, it finally fit and it was worth it.

Hmmm, smells of summer are definitely the salty beach, BBQ’s, and the sweet smell after it rains.

Happy Day Love!

lindsay June 29, 2010 at 4:12 am

haha, you proved me wrong with the oatmeal. Still looks delicous. Gotta take advantage of the summer fruit.
I hate moving too but I use it as an excuse to throw away or give away A LOT! So count this as a BIG spring/summer cleaning!

Katie June 29, 2010 at 4:42 am

Moving really does stink but once its done its wonderful because then you get to decorate the new place!!!!

Hey you are getting great exercise everyday just by running around like crazy and packing!!!

I hope the dress works out, fingers crossed for you girl!!

Have a great day!! xoxo

inmytummy June 29, 2010 at 5:00 am

Crossing my fingers that everything goes okay with your dress!

Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) June 29, 2010 at 6:03 am

Oh no, dress debacle! I hope it works out :)

Summer smells- the ocean (back home!), fires, bbq, fresh tomatoes and berries

I moved here to Toronto in January, but my parents have lived in THREE houses in the past two years, as well as the apartment Nick and I shared for about 2 weeks until he had to move, my beach house, my dorm (does that count?), my apartment in Italy… 8 places? Wow. I hate moving too!!

Brynne June 29, 2010 at 6:06 am

Love that desk, it’s so cool! I love things that fit into corners (weird?).

I’m getting excited that your wedding is so close! Can’t imagine how you feel!

Freshly mowed grass is definitely a summer smell for me too, along with burgers on the grill and the beach :0) I <3 summer!

Morgan June 29, 2010 at 6:29 am

nectarines always, always make me think of summer. the smell reminds me of spending the day at the pool club when I was little. I would devour fruit like crazy while all of the other kids ate fries and ice cream all I wanted was fruit. some things never change!
The last time I moved was last August, and I am moving again in 22 days (but who’s counting?!?!). This should be the last home for awhile, since we are done renting! But (not counting moving every year during college), I have lived in 9 different places, mostly after college. My parents still live in the same house I lived in until I was 18!

lisaou11 June 29, 2010 at 6:37 am

I heard slc is supposed to be 104 today! eek, no kiddin, its been hot there. I’d have chosen the fruit as well!

Nice choice on running without any technology. Ive been doing that lately and I’ve really enjoyed it and it has made me appreciate running SO much more.

I moved about 2 years ago, but I’m about to move again. Me and the boy are getting an apartment together on August 1st. Big step huh!

Maya June 29, 2010 at 6:40 am

I’ve really been enjoying running without an ipod. It’s kind of meditative. Good stuff. Glad you got a chance to fit in some relaxing in between running around moving AND planning a wedding! The big day will make it all worth it! It must be so nice to have your own home to decorate the way you want, as stressful as the moving process is.

Graze With Me June 29, 2010 at 6:44 am

I’ve avoided moving like the plague. Luckily I’ve only lived in 4 different places: my parents’ house, the dorms in college, a condo where I met Dave and then the house we bought together in 2005. I hate moving but I always dream of the next house that we live in for some reason.

Good luck with the gown and bridal shots – there’s always something that comes up last minute isn’t there? GRR.

Maren June 29, 2010 at 6:51 am

ahhh that’s so stressful! I’ll be thinkin of you! That’s so cute that you’re making a blog/tv room. I have a feeling that’ll be the hang out spot!

The lake reminds me of summer. It always has such a distinct smell.

I’ve lived in 5 different places, but I’ve moved way more because I used to always go home for summer during college so I would move my stuff twice in one summer, ugh!

Good luck again, I hope everything turns out! I’m sure it will :)

Meg June 29, 2010 at 8:09 am

The smell of laundry reminds me of summer – wierd? Also, I agree with the BBQ and fresh cut gross scent too.

Thinking of you with all this stress – you got this down, though ! Just think about how much FUN everything will be when all the hard stuff is over – SO WORTH IT :)

homecookedem June 29, 2010 at 8:25 am

Fresh clean laundry on the clothesline, walking outside and smelling someone cooking out, and suntan lotion all remind me of summer! :)

We moved into our house almost 2 years ago. I’ve lived in 3 houses – 2 as a child and 1 as an adult.

homecookedem June 29, 2010 at 8:25 am

P.S. Thank you for the birthday wishes on FB yesterday!! :) You are so sweet!!

lowandbhold June 29, 2010 at 8:44 am

Sunscreen, bugspray and fishy lake water or chlorine = fave summer smells :)

Have so much fun taking your bridal portaits tomorrow!!

feetinmotion June 29, 2010 at 8:49 am

I am so jealous of your new house and how you get to decorate it! I absolutely cannot wait until I’m at that point in life after college. I think the whole house shopping and decorating is so much fun and I’ll really be happy when it’s my turn!

freckledfoodie June 29, 2010 at 9:01 am

Don’t worry, babe! I’m sure the dress will turn out perfectly & you’ll be the most beautiful bride ever :)

SO glad to catch up on all the events going on in your life! Vacation robbed me of all the excitement! (I think that’s an oxymoron)

1. The smell of the salt water as you get close to the ocean!

2. I don’t know what it’s like to move! The only time I’ve ever lived in a house other than the one I’m in now was when I was a baby, my parents & I lived with my Godparents until our house was finished being built! Oh, and the one semester I spent at college. But that doesn’t really count :)

kbwood June 29, 2010 at 10:11 am

GRILLING OUT reminds me of summer :) :) yay!!
LOVE it!!
love the simply bars.. you got the hook up!

Marissa June 29, 2010 at 10:25 am

Summer to me smells like hot dirt (it DOES have a unique smell!), pool water, and summer thunderstorms. I’ve only lived 2 places in my life… but I consider where I’m at now my hometown, even though I wasn’t really born here. This is home. :]

Praying for your dress to work out!

Holly at Greek Yogurt and Apple Slices June 29, 2010 at 11:28 am

uhhh I hate moving too. Hopefully this time I won’t have to for a while. Sounds like a nice run- I love running w/o my I-pod too sometimes. It’s just nice to have ‘me’ time & think about different things.
GOOD LUCK with your dress- I know that must be a bit stressful right now :( But my fingers are crossed for you today! I’m sure the pictures will be GORGEOUS!

Erica @ June 29, 2010 at 11:58 am

OMG – for awhile, I moved once a year – then finally – got settled and since then, boyfriend, then fiance, now husband – and I have moved 3 times in 6 years. Not bad. I LOATHE moving. But I love the change and love redecorating and getting rid of stuff. So it’s a good excuse. And smells of summer – why the beach – of course:) Sand. And ocean. Nothing like it;)

Tina June 29, 2010 at 12:23 pm

The last time I moved was from my town house to Peter’s house when we married. I didn’t even have much stuff then and hated it! Moving really does suck and I hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you.

I’m so stinking excited for you and the wedding being so close!!! I can’t wait to see pics of it all. I really hope things with your dress work out. I bet they will though. No matter what I just know you look gorgeous in it. :)

Katie June 29, 2010 at 2:41 pm

Mmmm fresh cut grass is #1 for me. But I also LOVE the smell of skunks, sunscreen and big bodies of water (lakes, oceans, etc.). All so summery.

Ugh, I moved SO MUCH in and after college. I moved 7 times in 4 years. It was insanity – I don’t envy you at all right now. Good luck with it all!!

MN Traveler June 29, 2010 at 4:21 pm

Hmm, I moved last July to Japan…only for a year, and in 34 days I’ll be moving 2 full suitcases of my life back to Minnesota. Prior to that, I moved during college twice a year for 4 years, once to Australia, and before that just one other time when I was 3, to the house my family is still in now. So not too many moves, but big distances!!! And I LOATHE packing. Unpacking is even worse, I’m dreading that.

Laura @ Starloz June 29, 2010 at 5:01 pm

I moved two months ago, it’s stressful but totally amazing. I’ve move a lot in my lifetime.

BroccoliHut June 29, 2010 at 7:05 pm

Sweet box of bars! I’ve never seen those but they sound delish.
Summer smells? Chlorine (swimming pool) and baked beans:)
Excluding college, the last time I moved was in 9th grade. With any luck, I’ll be moving for graduate school in a month or two!

actorsdiet June 29, 2010 at 9:14 pm

my last move was 5 years ago, to l.a. cross country moves are a lot harder than cross town ones!

Lara (Thinspired) June 29, 2010 at 9:19 pm

Love the corner desk! Very chic and practical!

I love the smell of BBQ. I think I even like the smell more than I like eating it! :)

hayleycepeda June 30, 2010 at 5:16 am

Time is flying by!!! Wait – why does it seem to be flying by for your wedding but now my pregnancy is going to s – l – o – o – o – w..heheheh…regardless, I’m ecstatic for you! :)

I definitely agree with you that the smell of fresh cut grass and BBQ reminds me of summer – so does the smell of sunblock! Always makes me think of the beach…sigh..I miss it.

I too have lived in 9 different homes – YIKES!! That I can count anyway…there may have been one more. Last time we moved was 3 years ago into this house. Seeing pictures of your house and prepping for the big move brings back a lot of great memories!

Susan June 30, 2010 at 7:53 am

Holy crap, nayonaise only has 10 cals per tbsp?? I’ve been eating Hellman’s Olive Oil and it has 100 : It is soooo good though. I’m not sure if I’ll ever go back to anything else, my tastebuds would be horrified.

1. My cottage is in a tidal area and the sand flats have a very distinct beach-y smell to them. Sometimes I get a whiff of it by a river or something and it always takes me back to my cottage!!

2. My new place will be my 10th! Including my sixth place in 6 years. Yikes.

Angharad June 30, 2010 at 11:19 am

I have lived in….(counting)……11 different houses! In 6 cities. Two countries. Fun :)

I can’t believe you’re getting married in a couple of weeks! So exciting Janetha! Maybe once you’re settled into the new digs you can unpack that grill and get cooking :)

Love you! xx

p.s. I need to email you about guest posting!

Bekah July 3, 2010 at 7:28 am

Hahaha I read the part about the oatmeal as I’m sitting in my dorm room eating hot oatmeal and drinking hot coffee at the same time. Yeah, you break a little sweat. :) Ooo I hope your picture taking and dress alterations went well, but i’m sure i’ll read about it in the next hour as i catch up.

I lived in the same house growing up, but I’ve moved like two-three times in the past year moving to TX to work, then back to AZ for a few months and then off to school in NY. Even with my small amount of stuff, moving is such a pain!

summer= watermelon, corn on the cob, going to yoga classes, vacation, late nights.

Fire Grate · November 4, 2010 at 4:38 am

protein bars always come in handy whenever you need lots of protein after a heavy exercise “
