i love alliteration. so sue me.
today was a day.. and then some. i am going to try to plaster a smile on my face and type a fun filled post, because blogging makes me happy :)
great to hear all of your favorite granolas~ sounds like nature’s path is popular among all of you. also, about half of you are all about the sugar free foods and the other half say exnay on the ugarshay reefay.. yeah, that was my feeble attempt at pig latin. did i say it right? i never know…
this morning started out with a waffle wednesday celebration.. i wouldn’t have it any other way.
5 egg whites + reduced sugar ketchup & 1 flax waffle + mighty maple peanut butter~
the egg whites were simple.. i sprayed a shallow bowl with olive oil cooking spray, added the egg whites and then microwaved on half power for five minutes.
protein packed.
when pairing savory and sweet things at breakfast, i like to eat the savory first and then the sweet… call it “breakfast dessert” if you will :)
insert lots of work here. blah blah blah, sooo excited it’s almost the weekend!
up next..
what’s the white thing on the left you ask? well, let’s talk about a new product!
i picked up this skyr.is icelandic yogurt at whole foods the other day. it was a whopping $3 for this measley 6 oz container.. but i am a sucker for new brands.. what can ya do?
the stats were fantastic and kind of made up for the high price tag. but all of my cheaper greek yogurt favorites have similar stats. noted.
upon opening it, i was impressed by how creamy it looked before i even stirred it…
and once i stirred it i was suuuper into the creamy factor! (TWSS)
i paired it with my favorite flakes~ nature’s path heirloom flakes:
the verdict??
well.. it was delicious. it was creamy and thick and tart and fabulous. but was it worth $3 for 6 oz? (that is 50 cents an ounce for you non-mathematicians)
not so much.
i may buy it again if it goes on sale, but i think i will stick to oikos. much better value! i am happy that i tried this new brand and now i know. and so do you.
it took me a long time to eat this because i was constantly answering questions at work.. well, trying to answer them. it is hard when you are handling someone else’s job while they are on vacay and you don’t know what to tell anyone! oh well, i did the best i could.
later in the afternoon, i was in the sales office working on setting up some emails for the sales reps. one of the guys had eaten mexican and i was going on about how rank it smelled in the room.
well, i soon learned i shouldn’t have been complaining because one of my bosses proceeded to pick up a can of "bodman $$$” body spray (that was in there as a gag gift from christmas) and sprayed it ALL OVER ME. all over my hair.. and my mouth was open (i was talking) and it got in my mouth!!
blech!! i was sooo annoyed. and i immediately got one of those headaches you get when a scent is super overpowering.. you know the one.
so that was lame.
moving on.
this afternoon consisted of more secret shenanigans.
after such shenanigans went down, i ate a new-to-me flavor on luna bar:
i didn’t hate it.
today was a HIIT day.. i decided to go back to my roots and do a body for life style HIIT:
treadmill:
| minute # | speed (MPH) |
| 0-2 | 6.0 warmup |
| 2-3 | 6.5 |
and then as i was changing the speed for the next minute, my hand caught my headphone cords and my ipod went flying to the ground! it took a tumble on the treadmill and i hit the emergency stop button. EEEEK!
well, that was embarrassing. hmm, but not really, because it takes a lot for me to actually be embarrassed.
i started over:
| minute # | speed (MPH) |
| 0-2 | 6.0 warmup |
| 2-3 | 6.5 |
| 3-4 | 7.0 |
| 4-5 | 7.5 |
| 5-6 | 8.0 |
| 6-7 | 6.5 |
| 7-8 | 7.0 |
| 8-9 | 7.5 |
| 9-10 | 8.0 |
| 10-11 | 6.5 |
| 11-12 | 7.0 |
| 12-13 | 7.5 |
| 13-14 | 8.0 |
| 14-15 | 6.5 |
| 15-16 | 7.0 |
| 16-17 | 7.5 |
| 17-18 | 8.0 |
| 18-19 | 9.0 |
| 19-20 | 4.0 cooldown |
and THEN.. because i am a complete numbers geek and was wondering about how far i went in the first little part before my mishap, i decided to repeat it so i could have an accurate count toward my mileage goal. i actually had planned to make a mental note of how far it was when i started over the first time.. but of course, around minute 5 i realized that i forgot to make a note of it.. and so yeah, i did it again.
| minute # | speed (MPH) |
| 0-2 | 6.0 warmup |
| 2-3 | 6.5 |
the end. when all was said and done, it was a 26 minute workout and i ran 2.95 miles. not too shabby!
i got home and was going to make chicken tenders & cheetahs but my roomie was playing chef!
he made an awesome four bean salad with roasted red peppers along with a delicious dressing~
the four beans were garbanzo (my fave), black, white and kidney.
the dressing consisted of a vinegar TRIFECTA (rice wine, balsamic & apple cider) along with olive oil, honey, red onion, salt and pepper. it was fanfreakingtastic.
he also made a glorious green salad. everyone ate theirs with tempeh (roomie’s gf is vegan) but i was craving some chicken so i baked three chicken tenders, diced them and served them atop the bean and green salad!
wow. this was so, so good. and what’s even better: it was healthy AND packed with tons of protein and fiber.
such a simple recipe and it took minutes to throw together~ yet it tasted straight out of a restaurant. thanks drew!!
and now we are up to speed :)
what else can i tell you about?
wedding update.
i found my bridesmaid dresses! wanna see?
and they will wear them with these:
i will show you what the guys will be wearing in another post, since this one is pretty long.
that’s enough out of me! i am just happy we are now onto the tail end of the work week, hope you are all hanging in there!
Qs~
1. have you ever had an embarrassing gym/running/workout experience? do tell!
2. favorite kind of vinegar? i love vinegars so much. balsamic has to be my favorite, which i am sure will get the most votes, but i also really love red wine vinegar.

I’m with you on eating the savory first and THEN the sweet! Though sometimes I go back and forth ;)
The four-bean salad looks so good. I’ve never attempted to make a bean salad at home before because sometimes (ok, weird) vinegar scares me. I don’t know why. I play it safe with balsamic :)
Dee 22 from the Tracker here. I have been reading your blog lately and totally love it. So happy for you and your up and coming wedding. I love the bridesmaid dress too!
LOVE the bridesmaids dresses!!
Loved that waffle! Waffle Wednesday rocks ;)
Those bridesmaids dresses looked GORGEOUS!
They´ll make a great touch on your big day :D
Have an amazing Friday, Janetha!
love love love your bridesmaid dress decision!!! <3
i love balsamic vinegar most…..i have had a pomegranate balsamic that was pretty amazing also…..i LOVE your bridesmaids dresses and the flops to match. very cute!
Love the dress and flippies make it even better!!
I was running the other night on the sidewalk of a busy road, tripped and almost totally bit it. I was so close to falling on all fours but caught myself :)
Vinegar wise-love all of them but white vinegar is my fave with balsamic coming up as second.
ughhhh i ALWAYS accidently hit the emergency stop button and i get SO angry like so angry i want to throw my ipod at someone’s face hahaha holy not that serious julie but for real i hate when that happens.
mmm i love apple cider vinegar to spread around hummus on salidas!
love that bmaids dress!!! your b party will be so excited :)
WTF with the Icelandic yogurt? Do they have goats deliver it on foot for that price? craziness.
Your roomie is way cool for cooking that totes gourmet meal!
Love the dressed AND the flip flops. Seeing as I LIVE in flip flops even in the dead of winter, that is right up my alley!
I love red and WHITE balsamic vinegar along with unsweetened rice vinegar. I just got some plum vinegar on a whim and it was very yummy and intense- a little goes a looong way.
embarrasing gym moment- I was about 230 pounds and a newbie- I removed a pin from the lat machine and the bar came crashing to the ground missing me by an inch. A musclehead came over to me as I stood there breathless and he said “you don’t seem to understand, today IS a VERY GOOD DAY”. Ugh. went into the locker room and cried. ME!! Cried!!
A good friend of mine introduced me to skyr.is 2 years ago–actually it was the first Greek yogurt I heard about/tried.
IT’s F*CKING AMAZING!!!!! It’s also incredibly expensive so I never get it but oh oh oh so so so creamy!
I love the dresses!! If your bridesmaids are wearing flip flops can we assume that it is going to be a beach wedding? ;)
Yeah for roomies who cook for you – jealous!!!
I absolutely LOVE your bridesmades dresses and FLIP FLOPS!!!
Did you know I wore Flip Flops with my wedding dressing (Jay did too) and they both said on the bottom “Just Married” so when you walked in the sand it left imprints :D Maybe you can do it for a honeymoon gift (if you go to the beach – I am not sure I have read yet to find out where you all are going).
