  • my name: Elise
  • where i live: Hmmm…well, I’m currently living in NYC, but I consider myself a native West Coast girl.  Do with that info what you will??  HA!
  • my blog:
  • my move: I consider myself a runner, so technically speaking, my fave move is running (preferably outside and in races), BUT, since it’s now winter and I’m forced to take up residency in the gym, I’ll share my make-shift indoor elliptical routine.  I think it’s fairly energizing, give it a shot:
  • Minute Direction Resistance
    1 – 5 forwards 8
    5 – 10 forwards 10
    10 – 15 forwards 12
    15 – 20 backwards 8
    20 – 25 backwards 10
    25 – 30 backwards 12
    30 – 35 forwards 8
    35 – 40 forwards 10
    40 – 45 forwards 12
    45 – 50 backwards 8
    50 – 55 backwards 10
    55 – 60 backwards 12

It’s a winter routine, since I prefer outside running, but basically I
do 5 minute intervals on the elliptical alternating the resistance each
5 minutes and direction every 15 minutes.

  • my meal: So glad you didn’t say pick a fave, because let’s be real, that’s pretty damn near impossible.  But when all is said and done, how could I possibly post anything other than hummus (or some derivation of the heavenly chickpea dip)?  For any regular Hungry Hungry Hippie readers out there, you all know how passionate I am about my hummus :)

Attached are some pics of my tofummus recipe (tofu + hummus).  You can find the OG post on it here.  The recipe (that I loosely follow) is:

  • 1/3 cup chickpeas (I make mine from the dried form, but you can easily use canned chickpeas)

  • 1/5 package of silken tofu (approx 1/4 cup)

  • 2 tbsp water (or chickpea/tofu juice)
  • 1 tsp arrowroot powder (vegan thickening agent)
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp salt

Being the simple girl I am, the instructions have only one step:  Add it all to a blender (or magic bullet) and blend until creamy and smooth.

Then dip in whatever you want: carrots, cukes, shrooms, spoons :)  Yummmmm!

Hope you enjoy, and stop by my blog for more vegan hippie goodies.

OMG that my friend is pure genius- I always love hummus but wish it had more protein. And now I know what to do with that huge bag of arrowroot powder I bought because it was on sale! Woot!

That hummus sounds fabulous Elise! I hate winter running too…

Love the pimped up hummus. I WILL try it soon :)

I must buy nutritional yeast, except it’s next to impossible to find in my crappy suburb.

Guess I’ll be ordering it.
