  • my name: Sarah
  • where i live: I claim I’m from New Hampshire and Minnesota, but currently I am living and working in/around Moscow, Russia! (Right now I am SO jealous of Janetha’s Jamaican vacation!!!)
  • my blog: I write a little blog called Finding My Balance.
  • my move: Working out has been a difficulty. Gym membership is incredibly expensive ($800 for 6 months! Ouch!) and right now it is too cold to exercise outside. Instead, I walk everywhere and have challenged myself to always take the stairs or to walk up escalators. It doesn’t seem like much, but let me tell you, the escalators in the Moscow Metro are long and steep. (This is a borrowed picture.)

And when the Metro steps aren’t doing enough, I’ve always got a Richard Simmons DVD. Yeah, Baby!

  • my meal: It’s definitely been an adventure over the past several months… One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is eating a semi-healthy, varied diet with the limited availability of foods here (there is one brand of peanut butter, and it costs $9 for a tiny jar. But at least I found my first sweet potato this week!) I also don’t have an oven. So the one thing that I can count on every week is a pot of soup! Soup is definitely one of my favorite foods (I think the other contender is ice cream) and it sure helps keep me warm in the long Russian winter. I eat a tonnn of soup, I could give you about 40 pictures, but I stopped myself at 4.

(clockwise from top left, tomato soup; kharcho, a spicy, traditional Georgian soup; borsch; and veggie chili. I guess I like sour cream a lot, too J )

I love that soup is so easy and so forgiving, you can just toss anything into a pot, and it makes a meal! You can check out my blog for more information and to find recipes to these soups, just click the links above.

Thanks, Janetha for the opportunity. I hope you’re having a blast! And thank you for reading! See you cats around.

Oh my word, those stripey short shorts should be illegal. I think they might be in Russia. :-) Love soups too- what an adventure to live there!!

Love this post. Love the picture of Sarah and her philosophy on finding time to get physical activity in. Whatever we can fit in right? :)
