obsessed much?

by Janetha on November 25, 2009

in meals,moves

heyo!  so, it is almost midnight  and that means this one is going to be a quickie!

thanks for all your props on my thanksgiving feast creations!  i still have visions of sugar plum fairies sweet potato galette dancing around in my head!  thursday will be a lot more mellow when it comes to dinner~and probably a lot more traditional.  but i do want to make some whole wheat rolls and was wondering if anyone has a good recipe? eh? eh?

oh yeah, i am trying to be speedy.  that’s right. here goes!

meal 1: mighty maple protein oatmeal+oat bran

 IMG_8070 IMG_8068 IMG_8072

i found some bob’s red mill oat bran in my work kitchen today and so i decided to go halfsies with the rolled oats and oat bran.  i love the volume and texture oat bran creates!

meal 2: pesto + ww linguine + ground turkey + mushsrooms + steamfresh veggies

IMG_8078IMG_8075IMG_8084

so this pasta was leftover from saturday.. i toss in about 1/3 bag of steamfresh mixed veggies to up the serving size.

p.s. i am addicted to houndstooth, as you can see with the bowl my pasta was in.

IMG_8151

no.. not that kind of houndstooth!  although randy the basset hound has some nice tooth(s) ;)

i mean the kind that is on my mouse pad.

IMG_8080

and multiple notebooks.

IMG_8082

and my postits & postit holder.

IMG_8081

and my recipe box.

IMG_8083

you get the idea.

my boss offered me his season tickets to tonight’s jazz game so i checked with marshall and we decided to go.  marshall’s grandpa’s birthday is tomorrow so it actually worked out perfect.

that mean it had to race home from work so i could still sneak in a workout.  it was lower body strength training today but since i was short on time i swapped my weight workout for some HIIT on the treadmill!

the end. hot mess.

went home, showered my mess of a self off and hurried and got ready!

i was out the door but not before whipping up something to eat..

meal 3: turkey & LCL sandwich on nature’s pride whole wheat with yellow mustard

IMG_8086IMG_8088 IMG_8101

all wrapped up for the road!  i took a pear with me and i also made marshall a sandwich~i was picking him up and knew he was hungry.

the game was fun! my boss has pretty great season ticket seats.

IMG_8103

it was really random, i looked to my left and spotted my 3 friends!  if you can see a girl in a red beanie then you win. instead of “where’s waldo?” it is “where’s amber?”  and if you do spot her.. tell her she is crazy for not liking pumpkin pie and whipped cream ;)

IMG_8104 IMG_8110IMG_8113

i promise i am not stoned and that is marshall, his grandpa and his dad!

side note: the dude sitting next to me ate a whole thing of nachoes, a pretzel with nacho cheese, a tub of popcorn AND a slice of pizza. and soda. i am not one to judge but that was a little ridiculous if you ask me.  not to mention it probably cost him over $50 for it all!

after the game i was super hungry..came home and had part of this, the other part marshall stole..

peach chobani!

IMG_8154 IMG_8158

my favorite!!

my room is SO cold so i decided it was time to bust out the flannel sheets!  what do you know..

IMG_8117

they are houndstooth!

i decided to take a few more photos around my room and bathroom of other random houndstooth stuff i have…

IMG_8120 IMG_8121 IMG_8122 IMG_8124 IMG_8126 IMG_8139 IMG_8140 IMG_8141 IMG_8145

clearly i have a problem. i didn’t even bother photographing the houndstooth shoes.. flats, heels, wedges..sigh.

i am going to bed now.

before i go.. did you know that if a costco employee cuts his/her thumb off in the meat chopping department, they get $5 million.. and also get fired? interesting, no?

my roomie, marshall and i got into a deep discussion about how much each finger would be worth losing. their pinkies are worth $50,000 but i told them i would need half a million to part with a pinkie.

Qs~

1. are you obsessed with anything? houndstooth for me. if it is houndstooth and i see it, you can bet i will buy it. even if i don’t need it! when i broke my arm, my sister made me a houndstooth sling!!

2. how much money would you need to chop off and sell your pinkie? or is it pinky?

one more work day for me!

First comment! Woot! :D

Hello dollface!

No need to apologize whatsoever. I’ve been MIA myself lately and I know you’ve been a busy little trooper. Been reading your blog but at a certain point I kind of abstained from commenting anywhere since I was spending WAY to much time behind my PC (read: more than 4 hours a day).

I saw the PB love a couple of posts ago :D I’m glad you liked it!

As for my obsession… hmm it has to be anything with lace! I absolutely adore lacey things. I used to have a thing for houndstooth too (especially any chanel-y coats with houndstooth!). I have one of those Arafat-scarves too! They were all the rage in my school, mines in white :)

And I would need enough money to be able to hire some doctor to put it back on and then some more to enjoy life/forget I chopped off my pinkie (that would be around a couple of billion?)

Love ya!!!
xxx

Abby (Nibble, Nourish, Run) November 25, 2009 at 3:18 am

Ha I’m always AMAZED by what people will eat (and pay) for that gross food at sporting events…!

My obsession would have to be sparkles. I know, I’m like a figure skater. Seriously, sparkly, spangly tops – I spot them – and must have them. I’m a showgirl apparently.

Lauren November 25, 2009 at 4:42 am

And girl, houndstooth loves you too. You always look so fabulous decked out in it! :)

Glad you had a good time at the game. Sometimes these impromptu events can be so much needed in a busy week.

Peach Chobani is great, but have you had the Pineapple yet? OOOOOO, it’s out of this world. I hardly ever see it on the shelves but when I do, I grab it!

I’m obsessed with way too much, but funny how just about everything has to do with food! :)

Enjoy ur day love!

Katie November 25, 2009 at 5:00 am

Hope the game was fun!

I am going to the Celtics tonight!

Giveaways starting for Thanksgiving!

Emily (The Experimentarian) November 25, 2009 at 6:03 am

Oh jeez. I think I would need A LOT of money to chop off anything. I will ponder that one. See you soooooon!!! xoxo

Allie (Protein Girl) November 25, 2009 at 6:14 am

Houndstooth could even make a pimp style 70’s leisure suit look classy! Nice taste!

Naomi (onefitfoodie) November 25, 2009 at 6:15 am

peach chobani! mm thanks for the review…I knwo I said I tend to not buy the flavored kinds bc of the sugar conent but I love the peach chunks in there :) you have me turning over to the other side haha

oatbran is so decieving in the volume it creates!! I love it when it sall cooked and fluffy, creamy deliciousness…I have been on an oatbran kick for the last week (since I discovered it!) its so good!!

LOVE that workout, I just wrote it down and doing it next week :) thank youuuu

houndstooth print is awesome!! I do love it and you look supahhh cute in all your houndstooth wear! I used to be obsessed with polka dots, on everything, now not to much LOL

I am obsessed with chapstick! I have about 10 sticks open at one time, (not on purpose) but I take one with me everywhere and leave it in my pocket or a jacket or half the time I find the tube in the dryer, meaning it melted…sweet, but I ALWAYS have chapstick on me, I am somewhat addicted you could say? I guess its a good addiction

xoxo

ellie November 25, 2009 at 6:27 am

Okay, I just looked at that picture for 20 minutes. Where is Amber?! I do want to have words with her about the pumpkin pie. Thinking an intervention is needed.

1. are you obsessed with anything? not to the extent of your houndstooth- do you want an interviention too? :P I am pretty obsessed with 50’s diner style stuff- my kitchen is covered with postcards and pictures and menus :D

2. how much money would you need to chop off and sell your pinkie? or is it pinky?
pinky would be no big deal to me. When I played my harp, I was advised to insure my fingers (LMAO, um….NO). Pinkies don’t do much except make you look fancy if you waggle them in the air when you sip your tea at the Ritz (why do we have pinkys? there must be a reason?!) REDUNTANT finger! I’d sell mine in a heartbeat.

Lizzy November 25, 2009 at 6:38 am

hola babe!!!!!!!
boy have i missed you!! you are seriously the cutest thing ever! i new you loved houndstooth and it makes me sooooo giddy knowing that your obsessed! i love love love everything that you have.! whenever i’m out shopping, you bet your bottom that i’m going to keep my eyes peeled and if i see anything i’m for reals getting it for you!!!! :)

things that i’m obsessed with..hmmm i think i’m addicted to magazines espeically fashion ones, and i have a weird obsession with purses! not even sure you can count that but whateves!

and i’m sorry but i would have to get like a million dollars to cut off my finger! hahaha. i don’t think i could pick to part with any one of them! hehehe

Happy hump day love!

Therese November 25, 2009 at 6:50 am

Yea you have a houndstooth problem. Hopefully you don’t wake up one day and decide you hate it :)

I don’t really have an obsession with anyting comparable to your houndstooth…hmmm…

Oh I would need the full $5 mil for my pinkie. I DO NOT do well with that kind of pain, plus who wants a nub for the rest of your life? If I must rock a nub at least I would have plenty of money to buy fancy gloves or something.

Laura November 25, 2009 at 7:10 am

i love houndstooth too! when i’m finnnalllllly done with weight-loss, i want to buy a really nice black and white houndstooth winter dress coat. i’ve wanted one for years! i’m also obsessed with hello kitty, and virginia tech (i’m an alum). the amount of clothing, accessories, bedding, and even kitchen appliances i have of VT and HK are…astounding :-)

I dunno about my pinkie! I dunno about price, but I think it would be the easiest to part with…I would think thumbs would be the most expensive and hardest to deal with losing. agh i don’t want to think about it anymore!! :-P

have a great thanksgiving 2.0 tomorrow! :-)

eatolive November 25, 2009 at 7:20 am

hmmm .. it would need to be enough money so i could find a doctor to put it back on (i would grab that thing and put it on ice!) and then have some play money leftover as “compensation.”

interesting. here’s 5 mill because you lost a finger but since you cut it off yourself, you’re also fired! lol

yayy thanksgiving holiday!

Nicole November 25, 2009 at 7:27 am

I thought I was obsessed with houndstooth!! I love it. I am obsessed with black dresses and skirts. And tights. And scarves. And english muffins!!

Do I get anesthesia to cut off my finger? If not, then I don’t think I could ever do it!!

Susan November 25, 2009 at 7:28 am

I know everyone loves Bob’s Red Mill, but you have to try Quaker oatbran!! It’s cut a lot smaller so it not only cooks up quicker, but it gets sooooo creamy and puffed up. I find Bob’s can be a little gritty, Quaker is more heavenly ;)

Of all the sports out there, I think basketball may be my favourite to watch live. Hate watching it on TV, but it’s pretty exciting in person!

1. polka dots!!! Especially old school black&white polka dots. But I also love a good frill.

2. Hm, to lose my WHOLE pinkie(y), I’d says 10 million. But I’d part with a tip for a million.

julie November 25, 2009 at 7:29 am

houndstooth is super classy :) i’m obssessed with boots. i love boots. i think i just love shoes in general..my parents own a shoestore so it’s in the genes probably. and i secretly wish i was 2-3 inches shorter so i could wear heels EVERY day even to the gym..all romy & michelle’s reunion style…

Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) November 25, 2009 at 7:38 am

Randy the Basset hound does have a nice hound’s tooth, but my eagle dentist eye detects some tartar on that tooth- he needs to make an appt with mr. dr. dentist :-)

Not only did your dude neighbor at the game drop $50, he also ingested about 4000 calories in one sitting- doh!

Obsessed: my kitty
Pinky: superfluous to need

Your oats always look sooooo creamy and amazing. Yum!

Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) November 25, 2009 at 7:38 am

PS Any vet can do it! :-)

Graze With Me November 25, 2009 at 7:46 am

Ha! I thought I was the only person who paid attention to what strangers eat! So funny, me and the hus have season hockey tickets and there’s this family that sits below us. The mom is large and they have 2 small kids. They always split at least one giant tub of popcorn, a bag of candy, 4 large sodas, nachos with extra cheese to dip the popcorn in, smoothies and ice cream. INSANE!

1) I’m obsessed with chapstick, my eyelash curler, oh and coats – a Colorado girl can never have enough coats.

2) Hell no, I’m not selling a pinkie! They may be crooked but I’m quite attached to them, pun intended.

Carbzilla November 25, 2009 at 8:14 am

ROFL from the Tour de Houndstooth! You kill me!

(I have that same dryline – why would anyone use goopy White Out again? Girl, you know it!)

Have to run to work!

Haleigh November 25, 2009 at 8:16 am

I am completely obsessed with the color black. My mom gets pissed when I buy more black clothes so for christmas and my bday.. she tries to buy me color but I never wear it, oops. hehe

Pesto pasta is one of my favorite go to husband friendly meals :)

BodyByPizza November 25, 2009 at 8:21 am

Mmm. Chobani. I haven’t seen the Pineapple kind around these neck of the woods and am always a bit jealous to see it pop up in a post or two.

UNTIL LAST NIGHT. I found it at Stop And Shop (weeeird) and had it this morning.

Um. YUM?!

Angharad (Eating for England) November 25, 2009 at 8:22 am

Ugh. Don’t talk about cutting off fingers please!
I am not really obsessed with anything but I love chunky jewellery a lot. Big necklaces a go-go.
Pretty much all I have to say about that dude sitting next to you at the game is: gross. Do you think that was dinner or just game time snacks? Gross.
Have such a happy thanksgiving lady (even though you had it already kinda) xxx

Katie November 25, 2009 at 9:11 am

I love all your houndstooth! I love paisley! I’m not near as decked out as you are, but it always catches my eye – and I always draw it when I’m doodling. :-)

Would I have to chop off my pinkie myself? Or could someone do it for me? I don’t think I could do it myself, but I would allow someone else to do it for HIGH price – like a million.

holly November 25, 2009 at 9:26 am

for 5 million…take my hand! knock on wood that doesn’t have to happen, but just saying…

houndstooth is so much fun, although thee hound’s tooth kind of scared me. you know me and animals. i heart STRIPES. i don’t know why but stripes make me happy.

yay for mighty maple…i had a dream you sent me a jar of the generic brand mighty maple PB and i was like – this is NOT mighty maple. rando, i know.

yay for fun basketball games and marshall’s gpa is ADORABLE! love!

have a wondrous day dear :)

luckytastebuds November 25, 2009 at 9:38 am

hahah i totally totally see the obsession! (its hard to miss!) I definitely think it’s cute though and it makes you “known” for something! I don’t really have obsessions apart from food…that’s probably not as healthy since I could also narrow the “food” group down to “cereal”. FAIL.

Best of luck with finding recipes for whole wheat rolls!!! Yeast scares me so I can’t help you out there my dear, but you totally have the right crowd to ask! Um…and nobody could ever pay me enough to get my pinky cut off. Manicures wouldn’t be the same!! ever!!

Jenny November 25, 2009 at 9:43 am

BALLIN! I love me some bball — hot sweaty dudes, count me in.

and please tell me that mouse pad is from target? I’m 99% sure I have the same one, and I’m 100% sure we’re soulmates.

Love you!

ksgoodeats November 25, 2009 at 9:45 am

I love the hounds tooth obsession! I used to love going to basketball games but it’s all about the hockey games now. Concession food gives me the heeby-jeebies. We used to do fund raising stuff at concession stands and I found out that popcorn is sometimes reused game after game and chips are almost always reused as well. Ick!

1. I’m obsessed with….I don’t know! That probably means I have too many obsessions because none stick out.
2. Not enough money in the world!

dailygoods November 25, 2009 at 9:46 am

I HAVE THAT MOUSEPAD! i think we’re soul sisters :)

lowandbhold November 25, 2009 at 10:01 am

Glad you had fun at the game! That guy next you was def. being unnecessary!

1. I can’t think of anything I’m too obsessed with. But I love all your houndstooth stuffs!
2. Umm.. I sure do like my pinky. I actually wouldn’t cost that much for me to have it amputated if I was knocked out. But chopping it off myself pretty much would never happen.

Have a good Wednesday girl!

Megan (The Runner's Kitchen) November 25, 2009 at 10:24 am

I love mighty maple peanut butter! the peanut butter & co. shop is near me in nyc – i love to get the “tasting plate”. you get a little sample of ALL the flavors plus carrots, celery sticks, pretzels, etc. for dipping.

in case you can’t tell – i’m a little obsessed with peanut butter. seriously…i’ve been eating it 3 x per day!

kbwood November 25, 2009 at 11:24 am

that game looks soo fun! :) you look so cute in your pictures!

Tay November 25, 2009 at 11:48 am

I love that pattern!! So cute. And I will for sure tel your friend she is CRAZY for her pumpkin pie hatred. Although it did take me until the later years of my life to appreciate it.

1. I’m obsessed with the colors pink & orange. If I see the combo, I need to buy it.

2. Ummm….no money. Well I’m sure that’s not true, but it would be CRAZY amounts

Sarah November 25, 2009 at 12:07 pm

OMG i love your houndstooth obesession. You are too cute!

april November 25, 2009 at 1:26 pm

I had no idea that pattern was even called anything! That’s why I love your blog.. I’m always learning new things!

Lets see.. i have quite the collection of shampoos, chapsticks, and sweatpants. Hmmm not sure how that combo works out together!

Andrea@WellnessNotes November 25, 2009 at 1:50 pm

Sorry, I wouldn’t purposefully part with any of my body parts….

I am sort of obsessed with miniature things because they are so “cute” (tea sets, dolls, doll furniture, miniature ketchup bottles, coke bottles… anything small). I try not to buy them anymore however as it just ends up being a lot of clutter…

Have a great 2nd Thanksgiving tomorrow! :)

Erin November 25, 2009 at 1:53 pm

Girl, I lurve you and your quirky blog!!!!

I could lose a pinky for $50K. That seems fair.

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) November 25, 2009 at 4:24 pm

Question 1. Obsessed with coffee.
Question 2. No amount of money. Dear god. no way!

Thank you soooo much for all the awesome and rockin comments you left in your Massive Averie’s Blog Catch Up series you did yesterday :)
They just kept comin in and I was loving your kind words :)
Also glad to hear your bro isnt a huge TG fan, and that he’d like a burrito. LOL
I’ll take the watermelon.

BTW sending a food proc to Susan made me cry hallmark card tears all over my puter last nite.

I love you Janetha, you are one amazing compassionate awesome giving woman. I am thankful for ppl like you in the world on TG.

Happy TG Janetha!!!!
xoox

mom November 25, 2009 at 5:40 pm

hahaha you’ve got me laughing out loud! You hounds tooth junkie you – I LOVE Randy’s tooth too!!

Hope you’re staying warm and that Ulek isn’t slurping on you!

Obsessed with shoes, vests, scarves now, lipstick and…….maybe water, sometimes I sort of freak out if I don’t have it with me, whoa that’s nuts!

Nope, I’ll keep all of my digits thank you
xoxo

*Andrea* November 25, 2009 at 9:22 pm

oooh i love houndstooth too! i have a black and white hoondstooth scarf i adore. i’m pretty much a shoe addict though – i get like 3 pair a month.

happy thanksgiving!!

burpexcuzme November 25, 2009 at 9:31 pm

I did not even know what is houndstooth until I read this post. Tee hee, don’t kill me!

Hm. I’m obsessed with chocolate right now. I just bought 5 bars of Hershey milk chocolate bars. The big ones. I blame Foodbuzz Fest with all the great chocolate I tried…and I thought I didn’t have a sweet tooth! Guess I was wrong!

To chop of my pinkie…Honestly, I LIKE my pinkie. You can’t pay me anything for my pinkie. What will you do with my pinkie?! T__T

anyway….Happy Thanksgiving, Janetha!!!

Devan Geselle N November 25, 2009 at 9:55 pm

haha oh my gosh!! I love all your houndstooth! girl, you own everything houndstooth! I actually just bought an awesome sweater with taht print. love it :)

inmytummy November 26, 2009 at 2:27 pm

You aren’t kidding about the houndstooth! As you saw in one of my recent posts, I have a houndtooth coat.

Anne November 26, 2009 at 5:51 pm

Haha, I love all the houndstooth garb. My sis loves the pattern, too! She has a coat and a scarf, and I think a few other things. I’m obsessed with coffee, and also cute dishware. Especially mugs/tumblers, too! I have soooo many.

I don’t think I could part with my pinky! Maybe if I got like, 5+ billion dollars AND a state of the art prosthetic. Then I’d consider it ;)

chasingthenow November 27, 2009 at 2:34 am

Holy houndstooth mama! I might consider it for 5 mil… hmm. Now you got me thinking!

hayleycepeda November 27, 2009 at 12:42 pm

I’m so sorry this is late…I just wanted to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. I’m so glad you started your blog – you have grown so much and yet you, as a person, have stayed your spunky, individual, adorable, loving self. I admire you so much Janetha and I’m thankful to say I have you as a friend. :)
