in meals,moves

hello, hello! how are you all? how was your weekend.. and how was your halloween?!

let me start out by saying this weekend could possibly be the worst weekend of the year thus far.  at the same time, it could possibly be the best!  so.. some good, some bad.

i have a lot to accomplish before i leave town wednesday morning, so i am going to make this weekend recap a tad on the snappy side ;)

friday

i did not take a one food photo.. wait, i lied, i did show you guys my breakfast in my last post.  but the rest of the day.. nope. nadda. nil. sorry.

friday after work i went to the gym and pumped out 20 minutes of HIIT, hurried and got ready and met up with some of my ladies.

we hit up california pizza kitchen and shared the avocado eggrolls & a tostada pizza before the concert.. no photos, i didn’t take my camera with me.

then it was off to the sounds concert and that was incredibly fantastic! except.. guess what? some chick bit me. um yeah.. i was trying to squeeze into a spot on the balcony.. this girl ripped my $75 watch from my wrist, it went flying.. no, never found it.. and she also bit. my. arm.  who does that? it was crazy.

a couple photos from the concert~

saturday

happy halloween! marshall came over to my house and penelope and randy met my new roommate’s dog, yulek (a longhaired dachshund), for the first time. they all love each other.. so that rules.

marshall & i went to blue plate diner again..

spinach+mushroom+avocado omelette with dry wheat toast & hashbrowns

10-31-09 003

no, i did not eat this entire humungo plate of food. but i put a good dent in it!

it was such a nice day saturday! we sat outside :)10-31-09 017 10-31-09 018

and then we proceeded to look for our halloween costume. and i got real frustrated and almost cried because i couldn’t find any of the components i needed for the costume i was plotting!

we were going to be peanut butter & jelly! but it didn’t work out. not at all.

so we were a plug and socket instead.

10-31-09 026

yeah. so nerdy. it was cheap and last minute and it worked :)

we went to my friend’s house and she fed us chili & cornbread.. which is one of her family traditions and she is carrying it on. love that.

10-31-09 021

photo time!

a lot of my friends were flappers/gangsters! and marshall and i were a plug and socket. ha.

10-31-09 060

vampire, gumball machine (she is pregnant, such a cute idea!)10-31-09 035

umm.. not sure, me, cat woman, super woman

 10-31-09 045

so yeah.. my costume didn’t pan out the way i wanted to.. but it was still a really good time!

sunday

today was the day from hell.  moving, cleaning.. ugh. first i fueled myself with some citrus grill for brunch..

coffee

11-1-09 001

eggs+ham+mushrooms+cheddar scramble with potatoes, tortillas & pico

11-1-09 004

once again.. didn’t eat all this. maybe half. i wish restaurant portion sizes were not so big!

and i spent the whole day cleaning my old house. i smell like bleach. it is gross.

when i got to my new house i had my last flavor of chobani to try out!

11-1-09 005

mmmmm.. saved this one for last but now i think i should have tried it first! it was so good!

11-1-09 006

usually i shy away from greek yogurt that is not fat free.. but the stats on this little guy aren’t too bad~

11-1-09 016 11-1-09 014

creamy & thick.. just the way greek yogurt should be!

11-1-09 008

i definitely give this flavor an A!

bah.. a LOT of eating out over the weekend. i feel puffy from all the sodium! it will be nice to get back to cooking soon.

since it is now november i thought i would let you all know some of the holidays for this month!

  • national peanut butter lover’s month (!!!!)
  • national vegan month
  • national georgia pecan month
  • national raisin bread month (blech!)
  • national good nutrition month
  • national pepper month
  • 1st week= national fig week
  • 2nd week= national split pea soup week

now you know!

and now i have boxes.. and bags.. and bins.. and millions of things to unpack. only to pack up again for san francisco. i have my work cut out for me!

i am really sorry that i have been MIA lately. google reader it up past 500 now and i still have no time to read blogs. i feel really bad about it guys!! i am so sorry <3

monday morning is going to come too soon.. and since it is a 2 day work week for me i am going to be slammmmmed.

sigh.

Looks like a great weekend! Sorry about the concert mishap, that is so crazy!

I’ve always been a fan of the plug and socket costume myself :) ANd the girl in your picture is “poison ivy” from the old george clooney batman movie!!

1. highlight? probably spending a low key friday night at the bar with my classmates and unexpected professor!

2. peanut butter lover’s month, HELLO!

allijag November 1, 2009 at 9:18 pm

um. what. the. eff. someone bit you? that is so beyond comprehension. (in the adult world that is – 1.5 year olds – yeah – i can comprehend that) Sorry about the watch, jacket and bite :(

I liked your costume even if it was a last resort – I thought you both looked adorable (i love how marshall is a trooper – mike would NEVER do fun stuff like that with me!) and the “i dont know” girl is supposed to be poison ivy! :) yeah – mike’s turned me into a comic book nerd ;)

whoa – this comment is getting long ;) CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU FRIDAY!!!!!

Haleigh November 1, 2009 at 9:19 pm

the sounds in concert sounds like a blast- so jealous! i used to go to a few concerts a month a few years ago but i haven’t been to one in awhile.

my favorite part of the weekend was just relaxing- i have been so busy lately. enjoy your evening! xoxo

Lizzy November 1, 2009 at 9:19 pm

i LOVE your couples costume! :)

I hope you get alot done so you can finally relax! you deserve it babe!

Niki November 1, 2009 at 9:20 pm

people can get crazy at concerts!! One year ago was my first and now I know how wild things can get. I am going to have to try some greek yogurt sometime soon. have a good monday!

Allie (Live Laugh Eat) November 1, 2009 at 9:27 pm

Avocado egg rolls sound amazing!! I am most excited about national FIG week!! I love figs!! Your costume was cute and creative :)

april November 1, 2009 at 9:33 pm

I think your costume is darling! I would have never thought of that!

Marissa November 1, 2009 at 9:37 pm

LOVE the costume!!

mayapamela November 1, 2009 at 9:47 pm

Cute costume idea! And a little risque as well!

I think the pineapple has to be 2% because of the acidity or something like that, I remember reading something to that extent on another blog. Delicious flavor, I agree!

Good luck with everything going on in your life right now, don’t worry about pesky google reader numbers and do what you gotta do!

Tay November 1, 2009 at 9:49 pm

Yay for PB month! I’m sorry your costume didn’t go as planned, but I still love it!! And I’m really sorry about your watch :-( What a Beeeyotch!
1. Halloween festivities!!
2. And yes PB month!

Whole Body Love November 1, 2009 at 10:45 pm

I can’t decied between PB Lover’s Month and National Good Nutrition Month….

Andrea@WellnessNotes November 1, 2009 at 10:55 pm

Glad you had a great weekend (I can’t believe you got bit…).

I love peanut butter but don’t do very well with it; but I’ll still pick it! ;)

Megan November 1, 2009 at 11:38 pm

Ahh that’s really insane that you got bitten!! And I’m sorry you never found your watch :( But PB LOVER’S MONTH!? I feel like it was made for us food bloggers!!

BroccoliHut November 1, 2009 at 11:49 pm

Ooh! I can def get excited about PB month, fig week, and split pea soup week!

Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) November 2, 2009 at 12:53 am

Hey Girl what a weekend you had!

Guesty P. I am working on it. WEll, truth by told, havent started. When do you need it by? I could have it done probably Tues or Wed at the latest is that ok?

And although this isnt a proper venue, thanks for the Stevia action in the mail, it arrived safe n sound. Muchas gracias for passing it along. Funny thing…I think my tummy is somewhat stevia sensitive, too!! I never thought it was…til I had a ridic amount of it on Friday afternoon (the day before your package arrived) and I was a mess the rest of the day. Havent touched it since and tummy is fine. So thinking a little is ok, more is off-limits for me. We shall see.

Anyway my love, let me know on the guestie action when you need it :)

Michelle November 2, 2009 at 1:02 am

A girl bit you?? That’s so weird. But actually, one of my students tried to bite me on Friday.

The highlight of my weekend was running a half marathon with the BF on Sunday!

And I am hands down most excited for PB month!

balancejoyanddelicias November 2, 2009 at 5:03 am

your costume is sooooooo fun!!!! I’ve never seen something like that…. so creative!!! :D
nothing exciting here, I had to work both Sat and Sunday.
like good nutrition for Nov.

VeggieGirl November 2, 2009 at 6:12 am

1.) Halloween

2.) Good Nutrition Month

Lauren November 2, 2009 at 6:15 am

I LOVE the costumes! You guys are so freaking cute and so creative!

The concert sounds like it was a blast and the party as well. Sorry you had a crummy Sunday, but at least the Pineapple Chobani was there to cheer you up! That stuff is fantastic!

Wow, such great holidays this month. I think I am liking the raisin bread one even though I know that is probably your least favorite. You don’t dig raisins, right?

Have a great day girl!

Susan November 2, 2009 at 6:46 am

Ugh! Moving! Just think… it WILL be over soon. I don’t know how we forget what a headache it is in-between moves. I just did it two months ago and will probably be doing it again soon : And cleaning the old place SUCKS. I always forget about that part too…

1. I had a lame-o weekend since I was working. My real “weekend” is tue/wed this week, and I’m finaaaaaally going home to visit the fam. So ask me then! :)

2. PB month obvi!!!!!

Emily (The Experimentarian) November 2, 2009 at 6:52 am

You got bit? That is so random! Maybe she was being a vampire for halloween and got a little to into it. Weirdo. Glad you came out of it ok, though. You are so positive!

I love that gumball costume. I am totally stealing that idea if I’m ever pregnant on halloween.

Yay for national pb month! I will be celebrating accordingly :) xoxo

Abby November 2, 2009 at 7:04 am

I wondered about your Facebook status the other day when you mentioned she bit you…I thought it was a dog or something. Randomly weird, but whatever. At least she wasn’t rabid.

While I’m sure moving sucked, at least it’s almost over and you have a short work week (insert jealousy here). Motivation station, no?

And if it were national almond butter month, I would be all about it, but PB does a number on my tummy. So, we’ll go with the good nutrition one as a cop-out.

Naomi (onefitfoodie) November 2, 2009 at 7:05 am

where do I begin with this great post!

LOVE the costume you and marshall had! I have seen that before on websites, but never in person you look sooo cute!!

that citrus grill and blue plate meal look delicious! for some reason I never make omelets myself because they never taste like they do when I get them at a restaurant!

i think the fact that it is national PB month….well lets say you just made my day with that info :)

omg your friends gumball costume is so great! what a good idea for her little pregnant belly!

xoxo

Paige @ Running Around Normal November 2, 2009 at 7:15 am

Holy jam packed weekend!

Sounds like the concert was fun, but wtf…she BIT you?! Yikes. Crazies in the world.
That girl’s gumball costume is classic!!

The highlight of my weekend was probably my personal training class workshop. It was so much fun!

April November 2, 2009 at 7:18 am

That costume is hilarious!!!!

PB month WOOT!

Chai November 2, 2009 at 7:49 am

Ok yah, I’ve gotten hurt at concerts before… punches, kicked, hairpulled, whatnot.
BUT BITTEN?! That is strange. I hope that bitch didn’t have rabies! Sheesh. Sorry about your watch :-(

Glad you could smile and have a good time though. That is what it’s all about!

ksgoodeats November 2, 2009 at 7:56 am

HAHAH to the costume! I love it!!

Glad you had fun at the concert but how rando that the girl bit you – what the heck?!

How appropriate that I had raisin bread last night! I hope you have a wonderful Monday :)

Kristin November 2, 2009 at 9:23 am

What a fun halloween you had! Mine was a little crazy. But the hilight this weekend was seeing my boy… only for just over 24 hours, but it was good to see him nonetheless.

And I am excited for peanut butter lovers month, duh… and good nutrition of course!!

Sarah (Finding My Balance) November 2, 2009 at 10:09 am

SHE BIT YOU?!?!?!?!?!
what the nut?? that is the weirdest thing i have heard all week, and i live in un-reality. i hope you’re okay!

your costumes were cute, even if it wasn’t the costume of your dreams. (i want to insert some freudian sexy comment, but i will resist :) )

good luck with all the moving and all the other stressful things going on… hang in there!

oh. PB lover’s month? that’s me. i just have to try not to go hog wild and use up all my stash!

fittingbackin November 2, 2009 at 10:28 am

I’m most excited about PB for sure! And the highlight of the weekend was just overall – spending lots of time with great friends!

Love your Halloween pics – I think you guys look adorable. And your pregnant friends’ gumball costume was TOO cute – love it!

Graze With Me November 2, 2009 at 10:46 am

I love the gumball machine idea! Sorry about your watch and I can’t believe someone bit you. Ick. That’s why I don’t go to concerts. I always hear these horror stories about getting elbowed in the mouth and losing teeth or being bit!

I’m sorry about your crappy packing/cleaning/unpacking madness. That’s never any fun…

1) I had a great time with friends yesterday watching our poor Broncos lose

2) Good nutrition month!! :)

Angharad (Eating for England) November 2, 2009 at 10:52 am

Sorry that you are feeling stressed miss J. Don’t worry about commenting and all that jazz! My life went crazy after I moved with first moving and then my job…I rarely have time to blog anymore let alone comment :( but you know what, life cannot always remain on a plateau and you have to roll with the ups and downs and changes.
Luckily despite the sodium, it looks like you ate some really yummy stuff this weekend! Holler. I have been feeling totally out of shape recently and eating very poorly (I’m pretty sure all I ate saturday was candy) and now I am feeling the urge to kick myself back into health and shape! Rah!

1) I spent the whole weekend playing with our new kitties!! It was heaven.
2) Split Pea Soup week! YUM

lowandbhold November 2, 2009 at 11:33 am

What the hell? Who bites people? And who throws peoples watches? Wow.

Sorry you couldn’t find a PB&J costume, but I liked your plug and socket idea.

I hope things calm down for you soon!

1. Definitely going to the Sooners game in absolutely perfect weather. I loved it.
2. I’ve been wanting to try making split pea soup lately, so I’m pretty excited about that one.

inmytummy November 2, 2009 at 11:41 am

I can’t believe someone bit you! What did you do when she did it?

I ran a half marathon this weekend. Not sure I’d consider the the highlight while I was actually doing it (it rained) but looking back, I think it was.

PB month def!

Emily November 2, 2009 at 12:49 pm

1. my grandma’s 80th birthday party

2. pb!

I am so excited for next weekend!

http://eatventures.wordpres.com

ellie November 2, 2009 at 1:10 pm

yikes, what kind of psycho BITES someone? My brother bit someone once when he was 2, but seriously…old enough to go to a concert = old enough to act like an adult. Sorry you are so stressed- moving house is just no fun. I still haven’t fully unpacked- no idea how I accumulate so much stuff! I seem to move ALL th time and throw out a ton of stuff each time, then still there is more. Gah. Though San Fran will be a blast, and once you are unpacked your new place will feel amazing :)

1. what was the highlight of your weekend? being reunited with oatmeal and nut butters and familiar foods and my own bed! I usually hate coming home from trips away, but this weekend was really nice and chilled.

2. from the list above.. which national food holiday are you most excited for this month? oh, tough call. Peanut butter I think, but I just opened a new jar yesterday and can’t stir it properly! I tried warming it, storing it upside down…it’s like concrete on the bottom with a huge layer of oil on top that I can’t mix in :(

Lynn @ The Actors Diet November 2, 2009 at 1:12 pm

those are some great costumes! happy (belated) halloween, janetha!

Erin November 2, 2009 at 3:02 pm

WTF, someone BIT you??!! What is WRONG with peeps?

LOVE the plug and socket, lol. Very creative.

That slice of avocado on your eggs looks delish-o-rama.

Tina November 2, 2009 at 3:46 pm

She ripped off your watch?
Then she BIT YOU?!
WTF people?! WTF?
Okay.. some crazy people walking round this planet obviously…
But you’re plug and socket outfits rock!

Highlight of my weekend was My Halloween Party (I made all kinds a treats for my girls!).

And I just divorced peanut butter… so no PB celebration for me this month :(
I’m going to get figs tomorrow though! Glad you update me on these holidays, or else I would have never known :D

Love you, dollface! xxx

mom November 2, 2009 at 3:52 pm

You were a busy little bee or is that socket!? My highlight was being with a few of my cute grand kids at the care center tricker-treating!

I would have to go with the Georgian Pecan and Pepper day (with the raisin coming in third!) Love you xoxoxo.

Jenny November 2, 2009 at 5:38 pm

as much as I would have loved to see y’all go as PB&J — I love your costume …. very inappropriately appropriate :)

and I am so sorry about the chick who was obviously having an identity crisis and thought she was Edward Cullen. Who bites people?!

hope you don’t face any vampz today boo! love you!

Katie November 2, 2009 at 6:48 pm

Oooh I love split pea soup! So excited for that one. Also – I have been trying to track down figs because I have never tried one (eeek!) – so I guess no I have no excuse – it’s a national holiday.

Sorry about the weird biting incident – freak. Glad you had some good in your weekend. :-)

snackface November 2, 2009 at 6:57 pm

Who the hell bites!?! Well, I did bite a girl on the nose once. But I was three and she took my bike. That’s totally excused, right?

Sorry about the odd weekend. Mine’s been right there, too. No costume at all ended up happening for moi.

You forgot that it’s national SnackFace month, as November 18 is my Bday, yo! So maybe it can just be a SnackFace Day? Other than that day, I’m stoked it’s national vegan month AND peanut butter month. Soooo mine.

Highlight of the weekend: coming up with a new nickname for Sheba: Schnibbly bits.

Love you and hope today’s been better!

Katharina November 2, 2009 at 8:47 pm

Aw I’m so sorry your original costume idea didn’t work. That would’ve been awesome. You should save it for next year if you can’t think of something :) And the gumball idea for your friend is SO cute!!! Gotta embrace that miracle, right?

I agree with you on the pineapple Chobani. IT’S SO GOOD!!! I Think it was my favorite :D

1. Halloween!!!!

2. Oh man! The PB month! FORR SUREE and I also want to celebrate fig week, but I think may have to settle for dried ones because I can’t seem to find any fresh ones recently.

Meredith November 2, 2009 at 8:58 pm

Haha, love the costume! Looks like you had a great weekend!

katecooks November 2, 2009 at 11:26 pm

whhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaat?? bit you and ripped off your watch?!?! hello psycho!!!

sorry your costume didnt work out but you two look so cute together so i love it anyway :)

Lara (Thinspired) November 3, 2009 at 5:22 am

That first breakfast out looks amazing. Those look like REAL hashbrowns.
Dim Sum was the highlight of my weekend :)
And Peanut Butter Lover’s Month…is that not made for Food Bloggers?!

Stacy (Eating To Live Love Laugh Tri) November 4, 2009 at 6:59 am

What kind of crazy person would think it is okay to bite a stranger!?! People are so weird!
