food baby that is. i have one. in my belly. right now.

i also have season 4 of weeds waiting to be viewed so this has got to be snappy!

so let’s take it from the top~

as you may or may not know, today was free day for me which meant a day off from the gym and a day off from structured BFL eats.  i think i will do a timeline for all y’all.

8:34 AM: wake up and pee

8:36 AM: come back to bed and penelope bean has stolen my spot so i stay awake.

9:02 AM: walk penelope to the java hut, about a half mile away.. get myself an iced coffee with soy milk and marshall a hot coffee with cream.. and then attempted to walk back to the house with my hands full and penny jane tugging on her leash.  i got coffee alllll over my hands and arms. that whole loose leash walking thing is a work in progress.

the nice gal at the java hut gave the poochie a milkbone. and they had these cute monkey head hole plugs to keep the coffee from spilling. hmmm.. not very efficient but cute nonetheless.

9:57 AM: go to one of my faaavorite placed for breakfast, cottonwood cafe

10:07 AM: order our food

10:12 AM: get our food. i kid you not, five minutes flat. it was speedy service!

french toast combo over easy with sausage (the sausage i didn’t eat.. grease city.. mental note, ask for no meat next time. i didn’t want any meat but it came with a meat so i just blurted out sausage.. why order it if i don’t want it? noted.)

10:48 AM: go to costco and sunflower market and get groceries for dinner.

fact #1: the only thing i went to the grocery store for this past week was to re-up on the greek yogurt. i am so dang proud of myself. i usually go to the grocery store 4 or 5 times a week but i wanted to make what i had last and actually use up the supplies! so i went grocery shopping LAST saturday and not again until today! well, the 11 PM adventure last night does not count, i was at the store with marshall and HE was getting stuff and i found the sandwich thins. so you know. anyway, point being, go me!

fact #2: my costco now carries flat out multigrain wraps! 3 packs for less than the price of 2 at the regular store. score one for the wrap lover!

fact #3: costco also has sandwich thins now! they are popping up everywhere!

4: 45 PM: arrive, make a glorious feast!

time for a tooting of my own horn because the almond crusted chicken with mango chutney was insanely delicious! i am really proud the the results from my first chutney attempt turned out so well!

and that, my friends, is the reason i have a food baby. so. full.

i don’t usually eat such large portions so when i do, my little tummy can’t handle the volume! but my taste buds kept saying eat the fooood janetha b! so i did.

6:03 PM: we tried some stomach-stretching techniques after dinner because we were so full…

7:07 PM: i made everyone dessert.. which i sadly did NOT get a photo of, i was busy scooping it up for everyone and then it was gone and there was none left for a photo. and none left for me to eat! but what i did was mix some vanilla bean ice cream in the kitchen aid with a whole lotta cinnamon and then re-froze it, then served it with fresh peaches, blackberries & raspberries.. super easy and super good, so i was told!

so i debated going to the movies after this because i was so full and wanted to curl up into a ball and die.. but i opted for the movies instead. the movie started at 7:45, mind you.

8:11 PM: walk into the movie, late.. but not TOO late thanks to the incredibly long previews.  we were seeing “extract” and i munched on some unbuttered popcorn with marshall

cute movie, not something i would go out and buy but it was good.

10:01 PM: get back to marshall’s and open the lapteezy. begin to catch up on blogs/write this and marshall came waltzing in with season 4 of weeds and these two likely suspects:

yeah. his and hers ice cream. it is national coffee ice cream day so that explains the one on the left. and since i missed out on my vanilla bean ice cream earlier he got me this one :)

10: 14 PM: she did have a few licks. i can’t lie.

and so did i! mixed the coffee and the vanilla bean.. delicious combo. ate about a 3/4 inch into the container and called it good. i could have easily eaten the whole pint but let’s be honest, i didn’t need to. so i had my tastes and put it away for next week :)

10:57 PM: about to hit publish and close the laptop! i will catch up with you all tomorrow, i have 3 cuddley someones waiting for me ;)

The last new thing I cooked were peanut butter bars for Mallard. The granola base was devised on the spot (I was proud) and the peanut butter “fluff” was the same recipe I use for the inside of buckeyes. Of course they were completed with chocolate drizzle. Mallard gave them two thumbs up. Success!!

Your chicken and chutney look amazing! I need to pull back on my grocery shopping. It’s verging on absurd at this point… ;) I love your cute vegetables! There used to be a TV show in the UK that had the strangest random things, but always a segment on strange shaped fruit/veg.

1. best thing you ate today? It’s only 7am here so I’ll go with yesterday- brownie mashed up with Greek yogurt!

2. last “new” thing you cooked? was it a success? an epic failure? my hard boiled eggs were a failure :( BUT, my pancakes were awesome so it evens out!

Best thing I ate today was some burrata cheese on olive bread.

Last new thing was a chayote squash- it was firmer then a zuke, but not quite as flavorful. I’d buy it again though.

I had a smoothie this morning so I don’t think that counts as cooking. Last night I made salmon and it was delicious, if I do say so myself ;)

Your food baby sounds delicious!! Great job with cooking that meal, everything looks amazing, especially that mango chutney. And that’s such a good idea to mix cinnamon in with ice cream and then refreeze, you’re a clever girl!

Yay for mango chutney success!! That looks awesome. Your fam is lucky to have a rockstar in the kitchen who can cook delicious meals for them ;)

Whenever I order breakfast, I give the greasy meat to Chris. He’ll eat anything if it’s not green :P

1. This is a tough one, because I love everything I ate yesterday! Probably the salted chocolate. Or my liverwurst sandwich (sorry if that made you gag, it was good!)

2. My lentil and bulgur salad was new to me! I’m not sure if that counts though. I’m going to say it does anyways :)

That French toast looks so fluffy – yum! What a delicious looking meal!! My friends and I used to to back bends to try to stretch out our stomachs after feasts like that. Didn’t work very well for us ;)

Vanilla bean ice cream + LOTSA CIN or VBIC + Coffee are both all stars. Great idea with the cinnamon!

Freakin A! The Cottonwood Cafe is RIGHT by my new casa, and I’ve been dying to go there! I’m so glad for your positive review of that place–now I can go happy!

That chutney looks amazing–you should post/link the recipe.

Hmmm. Best food yesterday? Probably my lefotver half sammie from Jason’s deli: Turkey Rueben, no swiss, sub feta. And some of my dessert hummus with red grapes–so divine!

The last new thing I cooked was my zucchini style lasagna. That was good. ANd very BFL friendly, too :)

That is some crazy ass corn! I haven’t seen your pepper post yet, I’m on my way. I can only imagine.

And how freaking cute is Penny in that ice cream picture? OMG I want to kiss the top of her head.

Best thing I ate today? So far it’s just been green juice so that’s what I gotta put down.

The last new thing I cooked was zucchini chips and I got about a C+ I’d say on that little experiment. Good job on the chutney!

What a lovely spread of food!! I’ve never, ever made a mango chutney, but it sounds (and looks) wonderful!

1. best thing you ate today? Well, since it’s early in the morn’, I’d have to say oats because it’s the only thing I’ve eaten yet. haha…but for yesterday’s full day of eats, I’d have to say my favorite thing was the roasted beets. I’m obsessed, they’re so delicious. :D

2. last “new” thing you cooked? was it a success? an epic failure? The last new thing would be eggplant curry, which was..urm…a successful failure, I guess? haha…it was successfull in that I realized I do indeed enjoy eggplant, but it was a failure in that nobody else seemed to enjoy it like I did which meant a ton of leftovers. Ah well… ;)

wow, everything looks wonderfully delicious! i wanna try making some almond chicken… mmm. and your post-dinner stretch made me laugh — i always feel the need to do that after a filling meal.

1. my homemade granola was pretty fantastic.
2. i refined my chicken enchilada skillz and am very proud – they are spicy and satisfying!

Best thing I’ve eaten? Boring, but would have to be Amy’s Cheese Lasagna over lasagna with a piece of dark chocolate (or two) to follow.

janetha…love the family feast. i had a similar one last night – yes, fact: we lead parallel lives. mixing the ice cream with cinnamon was GENIUS. so was that chicken. and yeah for free days – all in all i would say a stellar weekend!

(1) best thing i ate today: homemade banana walnut choco chip bread. yesterday? i whipped up almond, parmesan + basil crusted walleye. again, we lead parallel lives. the walleye was also my most recent cooking experiment!

I’m feeling like a big piggie right now because your dinner portion doesn’t look that huge! On the other hand it does look delicious!!! Where did you get the recipe for the almond chicken and mango chutney? You are quite the cook! I wish I could say the same for myself. :)

Since most of what I eat anymore isn’t really cooked I’ll say that I’m proud of myself for trying new salad dressings mixed in the Vita-mix and oodles of noodles made with my spiralizer!

2. Hmmm… I haven’t been doing real cooking as much as I should but I made some seared scallops a while back that turned out perfectly.

OMG that meal looks INSANE! Before I turned veg… pecan crusted chicken was my FAAAV! So good and would prob be even better with that amaze looking chutney!!!

1) ummmmm I currently live off of everything Kashi boxed so I just tried their Strawberry Fields cereal and it was GOOD! with my roommate’s 2% milk..so creamy and delish!

I am super impressed you made mango chutney! I bought some in a jar last week and I thought to myself, “Angharad, you could probs make this yourself and probs should” but I went lazy…now I’m wishing I went Janetha B style. You rock.

Oh I think “labor” day has something to do with it being originally secured by labor unions…but I could be wrong.

1) I ate a LOT of amazing things today. The best was the homemade turkey burgers Danno made. They were off the chains and gave me a giant food baby!
2) I made this ridic grilled peaches recipe today (will be sharing) that was a grand success! Huzzah!

wow you really did cook up a feast, you werent kidding! that chutney looks delicious but im especially loving the mashed potatoes. those are definitely an oldie but goodie for me and something that would make my short list for favorite foods. the best thing i ate today would have to be the ice cream i am about to eat right now :)

Lovin’ that chutney–YUM!
1. My avocado tofu salad was pretty awesome.
2. Papaya! I didn’t actually cook with it, but I made it into a tropical smoothie last night, and it was delish.
