in meals,moves

buongiorno belle raggaze!

it is true, i spent some time in italy.  not enough time, by any means.

WOW, lots of boggle lovers out there!! i knew you guys were secret word freaks like me.  FYI, there is a boggle game/application on facebook called “scramble” and i may or may not waste valuable hours minutes on that game.

sounds like all of our palettes have developed through the years, i really wish marshall’s palette would catch up with mine so we could enjoy sushi, seafood and mushrooms together!

mondays are always a little rough on me, and maybe on some of you, so i decided to start things out with a little comic relief via blog stats from wordpress.  i haven’t listed my search engine terms in quite some time and i have had some silly ones lately… (for those of you who don’t know what this is, it is phrases people typed into google or something and my blog popped up as a search result and then they clicked on it)

  • lsd ingredients no, i do not have a lab in my basement where i make acid… sorry guys… but i sure hope you found a recipe that is not lethal
  • went wakeboarding and every muscle in my body is sore hey, that happened to me too! don’t worry, the soreness will go away soon.
  • how can i get my taste back? refer to my brother-in-law’s voodoo concoction here, it just may save the day.
  • tzatiki too runny i am not the tzatiki expert, better ask my girl susan about that one
  • dog scared of protein powder maybe if you let them meet in a neutral location the dog and the powder will learn to love each other?
  • chicken dinner candy bar um, gross.
  • turkey onnn thursdays can’t wait! wow! turkey thursdays?! this may rival waffle wednesdays folks
  • mini things how did you know i LOVE mini things?!
  • fat kid eating popsicle yep, that was me when i got my tonsils out, can be seen here
  • food eggs mixed with worms not going to find that here. sorry.
  • dog training school of my fist what?! don’t you dare hit your poochie!
  • parfait classes i don’t teach them but i know a certain lady who would be really good at it!

i was highly entertained, i hope you were too.  that is probably the #1 reason wordpress is better than blogspot.

regular monday morning meeting, but it did go along with my new breakfast every day for a week challenge!

meal 1: egg whites+onions+mushrooms+tomato+avocado, coffee @ 8:00 AM

IMG_3852 IMG_3850

something is wrong with my right eye.  yeah, that is the one that had the 5” hair stuck in it the other day (ew) now it is all sorts of red and whatnot

so i got made fun about that all day, also got made fun of for my dress, the bottom part is black and the top is white, so my boss called me an oreo cookie all day.  halloween costume idea? maybe marshall could be a glass of milk. yeah, perfect.

meal 2: 1/2 cup garbanzos+1/2 cup cottage cheese+2 oz chicken (boiled&diced)+ranch seasoning @ 12:00 PM

get used to seeing this.  i am going to have it for meal 2 every single day this week.

ummm let’s see, then what? oh yeah, more work. more getting made fun of. such is life. apparently my eye got worse, or so i was told. it does hurt.

meal 3: chobani+2/3 cup nature’s path multigrain flakes with flax+TB chocolate protein powder

coco asked if the protein powder in greek yogurt is bueno.  my answer? si senorita!  i like it a lot.  while greek yogurt already has a lot of protein, i like the flavor the chocolate powder adds plus it helps make the carbs & protein perfectly balanced when i add the cereal and/or fruit to the yogurt.  gotta keep that ratio yo.

so then i went home, did not go straight to the gym, did not pass go, did not collect any money whatsoever.  i had to let the tum settle a bit before working out.  upon arriving home, i had ten almonds & ten turkey pepperonis for no reason at all, why is it that when i get home i feel like i need to have a snack? that is a weird mentality i need to break out of.

IMG_3876 IMG_3874

and then i dragged my butt to the gym!

well i missed HIIT yesterday so i did a mini-HIIT today to make up for it.  but not full blown because i didn’t want to lose my steam for my lower body workout.

stats: duration=1 hour 2 minutes, calories=401, max HR=181 average HR=130

i ate half of this myoplex light bar post workout, didn’t count it as a meal…

another new flava! peanut caramel crisp

i liked the fact that there were whole peanuts throughout the bar~

and a thick layer of chocolate on the bottom~

good stuff! i still think i liked the cinnamon one better.

i picked up a few workout finds at tarjay~

i buy my workout shirts enormous… i usually wear marshall’s tshirts to the gym. i hate tight fitting gym clothes!

snagged these blue gems for 5 dollars. holler.IMG_3882

fun fact: janetha b’s first job was at target. i was the ripe for the picking working age of 16. i worked there a total of 3 months before landing a job at the local skateboard shop and i will never, ever wear khaki and red together again!

stopped by whole food’s for some happy seafood and came home to make dinner!

meal 4: five baked shrimpies, 4 oz baked salmon with capers & sautéed squash & zucchini from the farmer’s market @ 7:30 PM

cute new plate, no? another tarjay find! that place has it all. i sautéed the veggies in red cooking wine…mmmm

good dinner if i do say so myself. and i do.

so, after that deliciousness i read some blogs and typed this bad boy up, i will have meal 5 before bed..something you won’t need to see a photo of because it will be 8 oz oikos 0%+cinnamon+a peach to somewhat celebrate national peach pie day… hey, improvising is my thang!

oh, i did have a calcium chew

as soon as these guys are gone i want to snag some adora discs. but that won’t be very soon as i bought the costco sized bag of the calcium chews!

ugh, i am going to go to bed early. my eye hurts, i think the real reason it is all red is because i have not taken my contacts out in over a month. (crap, my mom is going to be so mad when she reads that!) and i do not have a pair of glasses. i am probably legally blind without the contacts (i am a minus 5, for those of you who speak contact prescription terms) and so if i take these dudes out i am doomed for the rest of the night as far as seeing anything goes. so it will probably just be lights out for me.

oh, ok, edited to add: i opted for a peach protein shake instead of a greek yogurt mess for meal 5. i just drank it and it is 10:30 and it tasted like peachy cinnamon ice cream!

1 scoop vanilla protein powder + 2/3 cup almond milk + 6 ice cubes + 1 peach + cinnamon galore!

thank you vitamix.

ok, that’s all she wrote.

1. what was your first job + how old were you + how long did it last? already toldja guys up there.

2. when you get home, do you feel like you need a “snack”? maybe this is carried over from the whole after-school-snack ritual? i don’t have any idea why i go straight to the kitchen and open the fridge and/or cupboard upon arriving home!!

Annabel @ August 24, 2009 at 10:13 pm

so much to say! First — your poor eyes! I bet you scratched a piece of your cornea. It’s happened to me like 3xs b/c, like you, i wear my contacts FO’EVA!
I was 15 when i got my first job and stayed there for like 5 years — crazy, right?!
And i too suffer from the needing a snack when i get home syndrome. it’s so bad that even if i eat a meal at home, leave to run an errand for 15 minutes and come back, i still want to snack! it’s a ritual that’s so hard to break!

Allie (Live Laugh Eat) August 24, 2009 at 10:14 pm

Lots to say…

1) You have beautiful eyes!!
2) Your search engine terms made my day/week.
3) I wear my workout shirts big too…I’m there to sweat, not impress.
4) I can’t believe you did all that in 1 hour and 2 minutes! I need to find ways to speed up my workouts.
5) I love WFs shrimp skewers
6) My first job was as a hostess at a Mexican restaurant, On the border. It lasted the summer plus a little longer so 4 months ish. I was 16. I loved it. Working at restaurants is so much fun.
7) I snack my life away so yes, I definitely hit the cupboards after I get home. I never thought about it being carried over from after school but that makes total sense now.

PS Thanks for making me crack up…every day!

Megan August 24, 2009 at 10:34 pm

I love big workout shirts too!! And sleeveless.. for some reason the sleeves make me sweat soo much more!

And your dinner looks sooo delicious.. I love shrimp and salmon!!

My first job was coaching at my gymnastics place at the wonderful age of 16 also! This is where I’ve learned I either love or hate little kids.. it depends on the kid ;)

And I need to control my insane snacking too! Whenever I’m bored I get the urge to eat.. whcih is never a good thing!

I hope your eye gets better asap!!

Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) August 24, 2009 at 10:39 pm

Oh dear, hope your eye gets better!

Your eats are so different! Cool to put garbanzos, chix and cottage cheese together!

Snack: 100 cal kettle corn (Orville)- I know there’s a ton of crap in there but I love it so much I lick the bag when I’m done! :-D

First job was ushering at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. I was there a good year- shocking at age 15!

Lainie August 24, 2009 at 11:11 pm

Look how beautiful your eye looks!!!! Love it. Gorgeous! ANd by the way, I’m loving the cottage cheese and ranch seasoning mix idea…I never would have thought of that!!! Genius!

Andrea@WellnessNotes August 24, 2009 at 11:31 pm

1. Shoe store, 16, a few months
2. It depends…

I love your dinner. And the new plates. Very cute. Great deal on the workout clothes… I love Target, but I always end up buying stuff that is not on my list…

Take care of your eye! :) I hope it’ll feel better soon.

mayapamela August 24, 2009 at 11:36 pm

I totally know what you mean about the snack thing! maybe it is whole post school thing. Maybe try listening to a really fun/crazy song when you get home and start a new habit?

Lynn (The Actors Diet) August 24, 2009 at 11:56 pm

please be careful with your eyes!!! i once had a corneal ulcer b/c i didn’t take my contacts out every night. IT HURT!!!

snackface August 25, 2009 at 12:04 am

Poor little Janetha’s eyes! Ahh! That scares me! Please take care of those. You only get one pair. Do I sound like a parent yet?

You make me want a delicious protein shake every single time you say it tastes like ice cream! You also inspired me to see what people have used to search my blog or whatever. My favorite: hot ass. I probably have said that at some point.

As for the questions, my first job was at Kings Island, a theme park by my house. I was 16 and worked at a retail shop there. As soon as someone gave me money from his sweaty sock, I knew the job wasn’t right for me. It lasted 4 months, I think.

And the snack as soon as you come home…that’s SO ME! Every time! Lately, to kick the craving, I’ve been doing this: I walk in the door, set down my purse, pee (probably) and then lie on my bed for 10ish minutes. Not only does resting feel better than eating at this point, but it also gives me time to figure out whether I’m hungry/ what I want to do next/ what I want to read next/ what my next boyfriend will look like…you get the idea. Today for example, I came home and did just that and decided I didn’t need a snack before my run (I had finished a Lara bar at 4:30/5 and it was 6 when I left work).

Anyway, I hope that might help! And I hope your pretty eye gets better!

Marissa August 25, 2009 at 12:37 am

Google words are always so funny!

Susan August 25, 2009 at 5:33 am

You left your contacts in for a month!? Take them out and give them a good clean!! And maybe get one of those eye washers that are in highschool labs. You need to clean your eyeballs girl!!

1. My first job was at Zellers, which is kinda like the Canadian version of Target. I was a cashier for one month over the holidays. It was meh. My second job at Starbucks was much better. I stayed there for four years!!

2. Yes!!! Actually, the first thing I do when I get home from work is make dinner. I do not pass Go or collect my $200, I go straight to the fridge and throw something together.

You just helped me decide on what to make for lunch – cottage cheese and garbanzo pita! Yum :)

Abby August 25, 2009 at 5:41 am

I actually make my “first” dinner when I get home from work (around 5) and then have my second one or big snack later (around 9). However, when I do want to snack out of habit or boredom, I either go for a walk or make a cup of tea.

If I come home and make a cup of tea, it’s still kind of following the “habit” of doing something when I get home, but it gives me time to think about what I really want to do and unwind first.

And I worked in a video store where I had to make “free” popcorn every day. I came home coated in oil, stinking like popcorn and had every freaking Disney movie memorized from playing them all day on the TVs. Fun times…

Coco August 25, 2009 at 6:08 am

Thanks for the little greek yogurt/PP suggestion. I have some strawberry flavor so I might try that out even though I don’t like strawberries hahaha.
Your meals look so good all the time. I def want to eat like you (6 meals a day) because I love to eat. Yummmmmm o protein drinks and yogurt.
1. my first job was working for my godmother in her clothing store. was alright, but I hate retail.
2. I always want a snack when I get home. I usually do since I eat every 3-4 hours.

Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) August 25, 2009 at 6:34 am

Love your gym clothes. I’m always getting my gear from target…and I love a big, baggy t-shirt for working out in too. :D

1. First job was babysitting a 1 year old boy when I was 13. It was 8 hrs. a day, 5 days a week…it lasted the summer before I just couldn’t take the 40 hr. work week anymore! But working at the grocery store when I was 16 turned out to actually be a pretty fun job.

2. I always need a snack when I get home in the afternoon!! Even if its a handful of almonds or a couple crackers or a carrot stick to chew on while making dinner. :D

Em August 25, 2009 at 7:34 am

Oh my gosh! That picture of your eye immediately made my eye start to water….and now it still is! haha.

That is awesome that your first job was at Target. I can totally see you working there in all that red :) My first job was soooo dorky! I worked at a place called Nascar Cafe. Yes, a Nascar themed restaurant. Not something I like to talk about too much. And yes, when I get home I am always looking for some pretzels or just a little something to “snack” on. I never thought about the whole “after school snack” thing, but I bet it does have something to do with it!

P.s. We play 2 songs by the sounds at work, and everytime they come on I think of you! haha.

runeatrepeat August 25, 2009 at 7:47 am

I worked at Starbucks for 2 years in college. It was fun :)

I’m trying to keep myself out of the kitchen first thing when I get home…it’s a habit.

Rose August 25, 2009 at 7:47 am

I love that lunch idea – the chickpea/chicken/etc. looks easy & delicious!

julie August 25, 2009 at 8:00 am

ughh I had red eye syndrome for the LONGEST time. I did some research and found out that August is prime allergy season suprisingly BUT then I did some more experimentation and realized that I’m allergic to Covergirl Eyelights mascara. no mas on the CG! Don’t sleep with your contacts in!!!! I’ll do that for your mom haha

mmm mmm I want pro smoothie now :)

Erin August 25, 2009 at 8:59 am

“food eggs mixed with worms” is the term.ever.

My 1st job was working on an ice cream truck. Srsly. I hated ice cream for a long time after that.

I don’t snack when I come home unless hungry right before hittin up the gym.

Lindsay @ bananaandchocolate August 25, 2009 at 9:00 am

I hope your eye feels better! Mine get like that from my contacts sometimes too.

My first job was at a video store down the street from my house. I only worked there because it was close enough to walk and I couldn’t drive yet. I worked with all guys and they thought it was really funny to make me put away all of the porn. I hated that job and left as soon as I could drive to work at Target!

When I get home I either feel like I need a snack or dinner right away. I do get home around 6:40 though so I guess thats dinner time!

ksgoodeats August 25, 2009 at 9:00 am

Parfait classes?! Well I was going to be a teacher ;)

Where were you in Italy?! I love that country!

Those sauteed veggies are looking mighty delicious! I only like squash when it’s cooked. When it’s raw and it sweats I get a little flustered.

1. I can’t say what my first job was because I still have it! If you want to know, email me and I’ll spill the beans :)
2. Usually I’m hungry when I get home so I almost always have a snack!

TAKE YOUR CONTACTS OUT!! ;) One of my trainers left hers in for a long time and had a lot of complications from it. They dried out and it was just bad news all around.

Emily August 25, 2009 at 9:03 am

your poor eye! eye junk creeps me out. I’m not even sure I could handle contacts (I’ve had old lady bifocals for years, but I can see okay without them too).

1. I worked very briefly at a movie theater when I was 17, then got a job next door at Bally Total Fitness. I worked there for a while. My next job was a bartending gig at a mexican place. I can make a mean margarita.

2. No, I don’t snack when I get home. Usually I start making dinner right away, so it’s ready when the hubcap gets home from work. If you don’t want to snack, maybe try brushing your teeth when you get home? Sometimes I brush if I feel like snacking but know I’m not really hungry. It does the trick.

Graze With Me August 25, 2009 at 9:33 am

That shake sounds amazing! I just rediscovered my love for nectarines so I bet I could sub one of those in for the peach.

I’ve always wondered why I can’t look up search engine terms! Damn Blogger!

1) I worked at a coffeeshop when I was 15. I worked there for 1.5 years and got fired because I was also going to school and had a second job and could only work 10 hours a week. Never been fired since though…

2) Yes I snack like a fiend when I get home!! I just have that need to eat as soon as I walk in the door.

Tina August 25, 2009 at 9:51 am

I’m also sore all over and tired, but I haven’t been working out, so I don’t really have an excuse :P
But I missed too many of your posts! Argh….
Anyway, loved the smoothie in your post, do you make your own almond milk and do you have a vitamix?

Love you :D

April August 25, 2009 at 10:11 am

My first job was Little Caesars…pizza pizza LOL!

I’ve never been a come home and snack type of person..thank goodness!

Alexandra August 25, 2009 at 10:12 am

I was literally laughing out loud at those search terms. Thanks for the laugh!

My first job was at Cold Stone. I was 15, and they kept us cleaning the place until 11:30 at night and I was in high school at the time. Totally illegal. I only worked there for a month… then moved on to working at the 1 hour photo in Target (!) and a flower shop at the same time.

I snack too. Usually for no reason at all.

inmytummy August 25, 2009 at 10:27 am

Ooh, facebook boggle? I already spend way too much time playing facebook word challenge. Have you tried that one?

My first job was at a movie theater when I was 17. I worked there throughout high school and then during the first couple of summers in college.

YES! I always go straight to the fridge when I get home. I have to tell myself, “you are not hungry” sometimes.

holly the healthy everythingtarian August 25, 2009 at 11:39 am

gosh i love wordpress terms…they never cease to bring a smile to my face. also, cinnamon, peaches and avocado also never cease to make me smile. mmmm…sooo much goodness in this post!

first job? teaching figure skating lessons at the local arena (that’s if you don’t count the two week stint i had dressing up as a chiquita banana and handing out blow-up bananas – yes, blow-up bananas – at a local grocery store)

snack? yes, always need something sweet after a meal and when i get home from work, i think of nothing but the fridge!

Alison August 25, 2009 at 12:13 pm

My first “real” job (i.e., not babysitting) was in the kitchen of a nursing home when I was 16. I worked for there for a year or so before moving on.

I too thinking only but the cupboards and fridge when I walk in the door!

I speak contact lenses prescription – I’m -6 so I’m right there in the legally blind without my contactS category! I take mine out every night though, I’ve contemplated those “leave in all the time” ones, I think I should investigate further.

insideiamdancing August 25, 2009 at 1:30 pm

I am so obsessed with the google search thing right now. I have been saving some crazy ones for…um…was supposed to be a small part of a post but the list has grown! Haha. Love wordpress.

LOL @ oreo and milk….ah, so many foodie couple costumes you could do! If he had ginger hair he could be a carrot and you being blonde could be hummus? Your vegan friends might like (random- are oreos vegan in the US? I heard that they were but they have milk here!)

So cool that you worked in a skateboard shop! My brother used to be a skating freak (we had a half-pipe in our garden that he built). I love skater dudes.

1. what was your first job + how old were you + how long did it last? I started playing the harp when I was 6, and was doing regular paid gigs by the time I was 9- does that count? I officially quit when I was 12, but still do VERY occasional things.

2. when you get home, do you feel like you need a “snack”? Make a pot of decaff coffee with lots of cinnamon in it and chill out…or eat a snack. Both work!

Angharad August 25, 2009 at 1:39 pm

Heyyyy. Ish. Sorry your eye is hurting. Boo hiss. I am liking the look of your cottage cheese/chick pea/chicken thing. That’s the closest I’ve got to thinking I could possibly enjoy cottage cheese once more.
Wicked Target finds! I saw those $5 shorts at the weekend but I was in the process of throwing down $100 on household shit so I thought it best to steer clear of work out gizmos.
The eat plate/dinner looks like it’s out of a magazine or advertisement. Fact.
1) First job: I worked as a dishawasher at a restaurant. It made me gag a lot. Ugh.
2) Yes! I don’t have to be hungry but I do have to nibble!

Jenny August 25, 2009 at 2:42 pm

sorry about your eyeball (ugh, am i the only one that hates that word?!) but i gotta tell ya.. you got some gorg baby blues! I am jealous! Curse my parents for and their brown eyed dominant genes!

fearlessfabulousfulloflife August 25, 2009 at 5:03 pm

hahah i always love to see what people search to find my blog too! its so funny!! :)

sorry about the eye thing– i hope it gets better soon! that can be so frustrating!!!!!

LOVE salmon and shrimp! seafood is seriously my favorite kind of food– i eat it just about every day if nots twice per day :)

my first job–?? i worked at a law firm hahaha i was like 12 ! i also worked at a candy shop when i was 14– it was fun! :)

have a great day!! xoxoxox

hayleycepeda August 25, 2009 at 5:27 pm

I have no shame when it comes to word games – we don’t get the newspaper so my mom sends me a stack of them from the paper along with any others off the plane, etc in the mail. I am an addict!

I can see why you’d want to eat that chickpea/CC combo – that looks REALLY GOOD!!

I LOVE Target – err…TarJAY – for workout clothes. You can’t beat their prices and they have some really cute stuff. You made a great choice – on the clothes and the plate! :)

Take care of your eye! You don’t want to mess around with stuff like that..

balancejoyanddelicias August 25, 2009 at 5:45 pm

Such a scrumptious breakfast, a protein power house!!!
I’d die to have your beautiful eyes, love the color!!

my first job was when I was 16 yrs old, translator in a law firm. it lasted 3 years.

snack ? since I work at home most of time, I don’t have this habit. I just snack all day long! :D

Julia August 25, 2009 at 5:57 pm

Thank God for your comic relief! I just read it and about died laughing!

Marissa August 25, 2009 at 6:02 pm

Just looking at your eye makes my eye hurt. Ouch!!

Lauren August 25, 2009 at 6:39 pm

You spent time in Italy? Really? That’s incredible. My husband and I just planned our next trip; a Medeterranian cruise. We will be stopping in Rome and Sicily and I can not tell you how thrilled I am. It’s been my dream to go to Italy for sooo many years.

Can I ask you where you stayed in Italy?

Shannon The Healthy Beach Bum August 25, 2009 at 6:53 pm

Hey chica! That shrimp looks SO good. Loving all your Target finds.. best store EVER. my first job i was a hostess at a restaurant. some fun crazy times there!

taytay0485 August 25, 2009 at 7:16 pm

haha, have you checked out the batter blaster website-even more crazier!
I love your dinner- looks DELISH!
I wish my 1st job was at Target, but mine was at a tanning salon and I was 19.

Kristin August 25, 2009 at 7:59 pm

LOVE the title. Nice and catchy, though disappointing. hehe jk…

I LOVE Tarjay for workout clothes! They’re cute, comfy and CHEAP! What can be better?!?

For jobbies… I started babysitting when I was 10 (mothers helper first!) then my first real job was when I was 14, as a filer at the doctors office my mom was managing.

And I do frequently feel like I need a snack after a long day as well. Something I need to work on too!

Have a great week!

When I was fourteen I was a hostess at an authentic Mexican restaurant called El Rancherito. The owners of the chain lived next to my parents. He was from Mexico and she was not. They had the most adorable kids. I worked at the restaurant until I was seventeen. I love every minute!

I love Target workout clothes!

Those search results are pretty hilarious. How do you find them on wordpress?

1. My first job was sno cone maker at a little stand my friend’s parents owned. I loved it. I got to flirt with so many older boys, haha.
2. I totally always want a snack after work. But that’s probably because I rarely snack at work. I often just eat dinner right after work though.

I am intrigued by your new cottage cheese/ranch/protein combo! My mom used to do something similar but instead of ranch used an onion soup packet by Lipton. Soudns gross but it’s actually really good!
