I actually loved the style of this post! Very amusing. And you’re too sweet to make your boss waffles!

Q1- Italia: trip of a lifetime
Q2- Uhm, TJ’s meatless balls? OK, no, chickpeas. In all forms. Love em straight outta the can, in hummus, baked/roasted, in hummus…more hummus. Although, it’s not very protein-y in my fave form. Whatevs.
Q3- No idea! This is going to sound so awful, but I don’t really like birds. They freak me out.

Note to self: send Janetha my pup pictures!

I hope you have a lovely night and amazing Thursday! xoxo

Anne K. August 20, 2009 at 12:18 am

Woah girl, those waffles look fabulous! Make me some? ;) And that is an intense, long workout! Great job :) Those grilled veggies and shrimp look delicious–I wish I had a grill!

1) Umm…. Arizona? Haha! Yea, I guess where I am now. It’s 2000 miles away from Michigan.

2) Greek yogurt! Or fish :)

3) Well I know Michigan’s state bird is the robin. For Arizona… geez, we have these creepy ass looking dinosaur birds here. They freak me out. They’re black with their feathers sticking the wrong way, gangly with long legs, and they have wide nasty eyes and walk around all pre-historic-like with their beaks open. Ok I googled it and Arizona’s bird is the Cactus Wren. I think it should be the Dino Bird.

katecooks August 20, 2009 at 12:34 am

im loving all that grill action! and yeah, you should definitely dig into that hummus ASAP. it’s hummus!

Anne K. August 20, 2009 at 12:42 am

JANETHA! I totally just spent all this time searching for the name and pics of those creepy dino birds. Apparently they’re called grackles. There was an article that says how they attack people in AZ. Apparently the female kind is grey, and I saw a pic and it’s the bird that totally divebombed me last year! Anyway, they look like this: http://wingandsong.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/baffin-bay-great-tailed-g.jpg

But I’ve never seen one look as sleek as that.

In AZ they have really thin, ruffled feathers cause they always bathe in puddles and rub em the wrong way to keep cool. So then they kinda look like this, only more extreme: http://sibleynaturecenter.org/photoessays/birdbehavior/07.jpg

Or this: http://www.thedauphins.net/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/Great-tailedGrackle.jpg.w560h292.jpg

but with 70% less feathers.

and now I’ve spent WAY too much time on that. lol! but at least i know those nasty b’s are called grackles. The name even sounds gross!

buffmuffy August 20, 2009 at 1:12 am

I have a lot to catch up on with your blog! Ah!
Dinner looks FABULOUS. It is my answer to #2: SHRIMP!

Alison August 20, 2009 at 4:54 am

6:48 Begin comment

I think sawing the end of the paper towel roll that got dirty might quite possibly the best idea I’ve read in quite a while. Props to Allie! But it looks like the time on microwave says 9:46, not 9:23 tsk tsk!

(hehehe you know I gotta rattle your cage! Just a little!)

OK the furthest I’ve ever traveled Ireland, France, Italy – I think Italy is furtherest east? I’d have go look, my geography skillz are lacking.

Fav protein? GREEK YOGURT

3. State bird… NY… Cardinal? Robin? Yeah, no idea.

6:53 end comment, leaving for run!

Sarah (Running to Slow Things Down) August 20, 2009 at 5:09 am

Thanks so much for adding me to your reader! :D I’m lovin’ your blog, and just have to say…why have I never thought of salvaging a paper towel roll that way? haha. Seriously, I usually just throw it in the recyclable bin…duh! Future problems such as these have now been solved. :D

The grilled veggies and shrimp look amazing!

Matt August 20, 2009 at 5:18 am

Wow that’s quite a workout. I can’t believe you crammed it into 56 minutes!

And I don’t think your Indian food is ugly. No Indian food is ugly to me. :)

lookingforserenity August 20, 2009 at 5:19 am

wow looks like a stressful day! At least you got to relax and have fun with your friends:)

Emily (The Experimentarian) August 20, 2009 at 6:26 am

Dang girl, that is some killer workout! I may copy you mmmkay? Yeah, and then not be able to walk the next day, but I’m sure it’d be worth it ;)

2) turkey. love it. love it. love it.
3) State bird??? Is it the seagull? What’s our state bird Janetha?

Nicole August 20, 2009 at 6:56 am

hayleycepeda August 20, 2009 at 7:22 am

I was just thinking about waffles last night so looking at your breakfast this morning has got me drooling. Soooo YUM!

I love the picture of Allie trying to salvage the paper towel roll..LOL…looks like something I’d do!

The farthest place ever traveled? Probably Japan…Egypt? I went to both places while living Saudi Arabia though so at the time it wasn’t that far from home. :)

I am curious to know what my state bird is so now I’m going to Google it..how COOL it’s the cardinal! What a great way to get people to learn. :)

Favorite source of protein? Almond butter?

hayleycepeda August 20, 2009 at 7:23 am

Wait…hummus…definitely hummus..

Lindsay @ bananaandchocolate August 20, 2009 at 7:23 am

I really need to get on it and try out your protein waffles, but I might make them into pancakes instead. Yayy! I made a super spicy dinner last night and I didn’t even know it was national spicy food day!

Susan August 20, 2009 at 8:16 am

“work way harder than i should considering what i am paid” – story of my freakin’ life!!!

Oooh, I haven’t had the CC+garbanzo combo in a while, love the idea of adding curry! And you should definitely be a protein shake model. That pic of you is gorgeous to the max.

1. Germany/Western Europe. My crazy family did an RV trip when I was in middle school, driving around Europe. Lotsa memories!!

2. Tuna. I usually eat a can at a time, which clocks in at 32g of protein for me, for only 140 calories. Doesn’t get much better than that!

3. No clue. Probably a goose, or seagull. Or, no! Piping plumber? Okay, I really have no clue…off to google that one…

carolinebee August 20, 2009 at 8:20 am

2. Hmm, probably chicken is my favorite, but black beans are pretty good, too.
3. I don’t know what it is in NH, where I grew up, but I think in MN it is the loon.

Angharad August 20, 2009 at 9:14 am

I like the day-in-the-life-of-janetha-ness of this post. Makes me feel like I was spying on you all day.
I’ll be honest, I don’t know normally read your workout bits in too much detail but the phrase “bulgarian split squat” made me giggle.

1) Furthest from England: New Zealand I reckon. That’s pretty far. It was pretty rad.
2) Is it bad to say re-fried beans?
3) Loon!!

Loves xxx

Andrea@WellnessNotes August 20, 2009 at 10:19 am

What a fun post! :)

I love all the grilled food, and it makes me realize (once again) that we haven’t used our grill enough this year…

I love the pic of the attempt to save the paper towel roll! Great idea! I’m really “good at” putting the paper towel roll in all kinds of things… ;)

My favorite source of protein is Greek yogurt. In fact, I think it’s about time for some right now…

inmytummy August 20, 2009 at 10:58 am

1. Italy?
2. Does hummus have protein? I love me some hummus.
3. I have absolutely no idea. (I just looked it up, it’s a brown thrasher.) I guess that’s why our hockey team is called the Thrashers. Who knew?

i enjoy the title. i have those mind-block days, like, um, every day?
