hey everyone~how is your monday?  not too shabby on my end.

thanks for all the answers regarding supplements and vitamins! i need to look into a good probiotic and something for my joints. 

sounds like you all have some great goals for this week~i love hearing what everyone is aiming for!!

this is going to be a quick little post because i have quite the agenda this afternoon and evening which will give me no time for blog land.  but i did want to get the eats i have had posted, so here you go!

SUNDAY!

day one of my back-to-basics body for life by-the-book eating and working out went fabulously!  i ate clean all day and got my HIIT workout in.  i drank my gallon of water.  i cleaned out my fridge and cupboards, put the nut butters and cereal out of reach (thanks for the tip susan!) and threw away any unapproved items.  i also busted out some of my clean eating cook books and started some meal planning.  it feels nice to have a clean slate.

last night before hitting the sack i did have a new food!

siggi’s pomegranate & passion fruit yogurt

check out the stats~perfectly balanced already!  so convenient for me.  i can throw in a few slivered almonds to add some healthy fat and i am set.  i didn’t have any almonds last night so i ate it as it came.

the price may be high but the taste and creamy factor of this yogurt is worth the money!  not something i can buy all the time because, let’s face it, it is super pricey.. but it is good for a nice treat.

i love that they use no artificial sweeteners and the milk comes from happy cows.  i also love the fact that it is still white.. not bright pink, not bright orange.. it has no coloring to make you think it is going to taste fruity.  it just is subtly fruity with a light sweet from the agave.

so perfect!  definitely will be purchasing this again, hopefully it will go on sale soon! or maybe i can find a coupon somewhere…

 

MONDAY!

meal 1 @ 8 AM~although i wanted to start my day with protein oats, i have my mandatory sales meeting every monday at the original pancake house. for my protein i went with the veggie scramble which included egg whites, broccoli, tomato, mushrooms and onion.  i asked for avocado but they were out~i will have to pick up some healthy fat later today.  i ate half of this because the serving was enormous!

for my carb i opted for fresh mixed fruit over my usual whole wheat toast.  i ate a half cup of mixed fruit that included blueberries, strawberries, bananas and blackberries.

i also enjoyed some black coffee.. oh and i downed 30 oz of water before i even ate breakfast.  stellar.

meal 2 @ 12 NOON~i told you my eats were going to be boring and here is your first prime example.  don pancho high fiber/low carb tortilla, 1 slice deli turkey, 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese, annie’s horseradish mustard & black pepper

i am due to eat again in a half hour, i am going to try to eat every 3 hours although this morning i did go four hours.  that is monday for you!

i have been using thedailyplate.com to track things to make sure i am on point for my 40/40/20 ratios and so far my food today calculates to 43% protein, 37% carbs and 20% fat—sweet!  looks like i remember how to accurately estimate my ratios, i am glad i still have the touch :)

i have also already downed a half gallon of water so i have another half to go along with a lower body workout i need to squeeze in before going to the lake for my nephew maxwell’s 6th birthday party!  happy birthday buddy!  he got a puppy for his birthday… for some reason i think i will be over at my sister’s way more often the next few weeks ;)

oh! i had a smile on my face this afternoon.  yesterday marshall and i didn’t make it to cirque de soliel like i had planned and it was the last day the show was here.  he had things to do and couldn’t go to the show and i was butt hurt.  i hate it when we have lame arguments but i guess that comes with the territory of leading separate lives and trying to make each other happy.  i went to bed pretty upset and that is never good.. but to his credit, these showed up at the office today~

amazing what flowers can do to your mood, why exactly is that?  hey, i am not complaining.  i sometimes say “don’t get me flowers, they are a waste of money”, like on valentine’s day (which we don’t really celebrate). but i can’t lie, i love the surprise and beauty and spontaneity of them!

well i gotta jet, things to do!!

Well I am SO proud of you, baby daughter of mine!! Yes your eats maybe aren’t much to photog about, but hey it will get you back where you want to be right?! That darling Marshall…..those flowers are so, so beautiful – I agree, I love them for the same reason you do, that someone thought enough of me to send along something to brighten my day (just like you have before!) Can’t wait to see you at the lake again —hope this old body will hold up to another glorious ride!! Love you too, too much xoxo.

mmmm that yogurt flavor sounds awesome. I usually get the plain flavor, but I am going to try some of their flavors. That wrap looks awesome. I love don panchos tortillas when I’m home!
1. I love getting flowers on V-day, but more when it is random and spur of the moment from Jojo.
2. lately my favorite addition to eggs is a sprinkle of shredded or shaved parmesan. It adds great flavor without a ton of cals.
3. I really need to take advantage of coupons. I have so many free ones I need to use up! Thanks for reminding me!

I’ve only had that yogurt once and it rocked my world…I so wish I could have it all the time rather than once in a blue moon/lifetime!

I’ll just answer #3…I use coupons when I happen to find products I use or want to try and clip them out. I don’t do a WHOLE lotta searching for coupons. I mostly try and shop at cheaper stores i.e. Target, Costco, TJ Maxx, Marshalls so I can get a fairly good deal.

Oh wow – that yogurt sounds so good. I’ve seen that brand floating around blogland but can’t seem to find it anywhere in Oregon :( My favorite addition to eggs is cheese. But that’s no surprise. I like cheese on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.

I love flowers; they are so simply beautiful. I have never had a “significant other,” but my family and I always have a nice meal on Valentine’s Day (aka lobster, chocolate-covered strawberries, etc). Sometimes, my mom will even play boyfriend and buy me earrings!

I love the flowers, so beautiful. :) Your eats look mighty clean and I don’t think they’re boring! Glad you’re getting the ratio down, mine is usually about 50-60% carbs – need to work on that!

#1) I love gift giving. My husband and I celebrate everything together. Of course the obvious ones like Christmas and Valentine’s Day but his birthday is the day before mine so we always exchange gifts. He always used to get me flowers until we got married….hmph. Oh well, the cats eat them anyway!

#2) I love adding spinach and TONS of green Tabasco to my eggs.

#3) Yes and no. I keep them but they always expire….I used one a week or so ago though!

I've only celebrated v-day once officially but I like LOVE surprises so I'd rather have fun stuff like that on nothing occasions

Gorgeous flowers!
1.) I like getting them. They make me feel special. We do celebrate Valentine’s Day. I think maybe it’s more for me than for him though :)
2.) I eat scrambled tofu! I like adding spinach and salsa.
3.) I do use coupons! I don’t get the Sunday paper though, so I don’t get as many as I would like.

I love your flowers!

What’s your name on the daily plate/livestrong? I’ve been using that site for a couple of years now. I actually stopped tracking to get more “in tune” with my intuitive eating abilities but just started tracking again today! I also need to make some progress and get back to where I was at the end of last year!

I’d like to stalk your plate – I’m doing similar workouts to bfl a lot of the time.

I never receive flowers, but I love them. I don’t ask for them, and I think the husband took it too literally when I told him that they aren’t worth it because they make me feel special!

I love love love eggs with mushrooms, peppers, onions, avocado & salsa on top. yum!

I use coupons, but not very often because I don’t get the paper!

Joints –> glucosamine! Probiotics … I would go to a natty food store and talk to someone about all the little supplements they have. My cousin in law has a lot of stuff like that too but i can’t keep up!
Ooo that flavour of yogurt sounds delightful.
mmm cottage cheese in a wrap sounds like an awesome idea !!!!

1. I LOVE getting flowers and gifts. What can I say? I’m a girly girl and very old fashioned when it comes to those things.
2. i love deviled eggs. YUM. Or egg white scrambles with cheese and peppers.
3. i use coupons as often as possible if i remember. :)

I had that yogurt once and it was sooo creamy. I just can’t justify the price.

1. I like flowers enough. I don’t have too much of an opinion on them.

2. I like to make egg sandwiches with an egg on an english muffin with a slice of lowfat cheese.

3. We get the coupon circulars at work and sometimes I do go through them and clip the ones I want.

Okay, first, happy bee-day to your nephew! I’m already jealous of his puppy ;)

I honestly don’t think your eats are boring at all! I love the turkey/cottage cheese combo. Oh, and the Daily Plate is what I used for my weight loss! I love that site and the community on it. I’ll totally be in debt to it forever (plus, it’s with Livestrong now, and I love Lance + anything cycling related)

1. I’m kinda “meh” about flowers. Back when I drank, the sweetest thing Chris could do was show up with a case of beer :P Now he does things like order me a bike chain, or water bottles for exercising without my asking. Always a sweet thought!

2. Cheese!!!

3. I’ve actually only just started using them. They’re hard to keep track of and I always forget about them!

In my eggs, I love ketchup, laughing cow cheese, and broccoli if it’s an omelet!

I think flowers are one of those things a girl just wants sometimes, even if she says otherwise ;) I love Valentine’s, anniversaries etc. I just love all that mush! :)

That yogurt looks amazing, and not a total sugar-bomb.

1. I’m not huge on flowers. They can be a nice surprise, but I think they are kinda a waste of money and die like 3 days later!
2. Egg whites with onion, mushrooms and peppers with salsa or light garlic/herb laughing cow
3. I don’t use coupons. I usually only find coupons for ‘brand name’ stuff and I can usually get the off-brand for cheaper, even with the coupon. I will use them sometimes at Whole Foods though.

Sounds like Day 1 of Back to the Basics went well! Keep it up :)

1. I love flowers, but I would be super annoyed if I ever got them for a holiday, I like flowers just for fun (and NOT roses). We do not celebrate Valentines, in fact we kind of suck at celebrating holidays.

2. Broccoli is my favorite egg addition, although sunny side up with sourdough toast is my favorite egg style.

3. I use coupons whenever possible, in fact, I have a mini coupon folder!

I appreciate flowers more when they are unexpected! I don’t clip coupons but, I do shop by sales especially at WF! My favorite addition to eggs is parmesan cheese…from happy cows, of course.

Maaaan…I have just caught up with your posts….I have been absent for longer than I thought!!!
You look hot girl…but everyone always tells me that…and all I know is that I don’t feel all that hot on the inside….so I so know how you are feeling!!
I always find…when I’m feeling a bit podgy….just the knowledge that I am eating right and treating my body right MAKES me feel more confident in it!!? If I eat fatty, yukky nosh I feel (and think I look!?) fat and ugly and bloated, but if I eat a big fresh bowl of salad or something….and charge one off at the gym, I feel so much healthier and when I look in the mirror I can see all my good bits…the little sign of some abs peeping through….and how much my body has changed!! For me….it is alllll in the head!!!!!

In some ways I am quite interested to see you on a bit of a BFL challenge, I’m not ready for it full whack myself yet….but maybe…some time soon!!??

Anyways…the Q’s…there are so many I wanted to answer, but I shall just go for todays….

My boyfriend once sent me flowers on V’s day, I was MORTIFIED!!! I semi yelled at him!!??? I don’t really do the girly slushy business…not my style! My dad does leave a little flower next to my speck on the sofa for me every day…with a little note, that makes me smile :) xxx.

I am super lame and unadventerous with eggs….black pepper and mushrooms is about as far as I get!! I feel I will experiment a bit though, there are just sooo many great egg adventures going on out there…I need to get me some of that action!! The only thing I must say is KETCHUP and eggs, equals amazing!!!! Loves, loves, loves it!!

We aren’t V Day celebrators here either… it’s just a Hallmark Holiday in my mind. I feel the same way about Mother’s Day and Father’s Day too.

sounds like your week is off to a great start!

I deal with a lot of supplements and “nutriceuticals” at work, so if you have any specific questions, I might have some answers :)

1. I always linger over the flowers at the farmers’ market, but I don’t usually buy them. I love to get flowers. I’m not into roses and carnations though. I love flowers in the ground more than in a vase. I like big flowers, and flowers that look dangerous, with angles and spiky petals and stuff.

2. I don’t eat eggs. I cook them for the hub though.

3. I love coupons! Sometimes I view them as a license to buy though, and end up purchasing things I don’t need or even want. And that’s just silly.

I don’t think that wrap looks boring, I think it looks good! But I guess I love all the components so I’m sure I would love it too lol.

For Valentine’s day a couple years ago the hubs (boyfriend at the time) had flowers delivered to the restaurant I was working at. He said he knew all my co-workers would be jealous. They were and I ate it right up :)

i couldnt agree more about flowers…surprise out of the blue is great!! (but not all the time bc then they lose the special-ness plus they are $$)…v day is lame-o, and id rather just say hey, i love you, rather than prove it with dinero.

that’s awesome that your getting back on track, i’m definitely looking to do the same. not saying i’m looking to loose weight, but the pants are a little snug from all the sweets and plethora of almond butter i consume. not to mention the un-pictured late night snacks probably not helping either hahahha!

1) I love flowers but i get sad when they wilt. they’re great as a surprise or as a congrats thing

2) ummm, hmm. i dont eat eggs that often, but maybe ground pepper?

Veggie Scramble looks ace! Marshall=what a sweetheart! I am the same as you with flowers – I am not really into valentines over much but you can’t help feeling pumped when someone sends you something surprising and sweet, right?! Cake would also work…

I looooove that yogurt! I am waiting for the sale/coupons too :) My hubby is always so good about sending me flowers. He knows I love em! We celebrate Valentine’s but we’re always super low key. Our anniversary is in January, so sometimes we just take a trip (like Hawaii last year) to combine both.

I HAVE to have ketchup on my eggs. Even if it’s an omelette, poached, whatever, it needs to have ketchup. It’s just that good!

ANd yes, I am the coupon queen. I have my little organizer and everything. Ha ha!

I love your back-to-basics eating style, because it gives me lots of inspiration for my own healthy eating!!

1. I used to not be a big fan of getting flowers, I felt as if they were too much of a ‘pity gift’, then Nick sent me some “just because” when I had a hard week, and they totally brightened my day =)
And I don’t like to make valentines a big deal, but I do love any reason to celebrate and go out to dinner!

2. favorite addition to eggs is Mrs. Dash seasonings! They’re salt free and they add GREAT flavor- garlic herb is my fave!

3. I sometimes use coupons, but my broke-arse self should more often with this economy!
