it’s my weekend!

by Janetha on July 23, 2009

in meals,moves

i was going to post last night but someone didn’t want me to…

two someones actually. the little one just stood on my keyboard and refused to let me blog.. so i cuddled with the two furry loves of mine—well, make that three, marshall has quite the facial fur going on right now—watched the latest episode of true blood and called it a night.  sometimes that is more important than posting my meals & moves.

and more important than reading blogs, so i apologize that i haven’t been commenting last night and today. i plan to catch up on my reader this loooong weekend :)

but now i have some time!  and i have had some good food and a real good workout, so let’s talk about it, shall we?

i have been spending way too much money on groceries lately so i have attempted to do some fridge-clearing this week.  the eats below definitely showcase this endeavor!

breakfast was 3 egg whites+1 whole egg on top of a mini pita split in half

not the prettiest but it got the job done.

lunch led to more work-fridge-clearing..

everything but the scary co-workers slimy tupperware container salad:

this was brilliant! i had no idea i had so much good loot for a salad, and as a bonus feature i was cleaning out the kitchen cupboards as per my boss’ request and i found a GIGANTOR bowl, bigger than randy the basset hound’s head!  so i used it wisely by filling it with:

  • spinach
  • 7 lettuce blend
  • diced chicken
  • orange cauilflower
  • red bell pepper
  • green bell pepper
  • yellow bell pepper
  • jicama
  • mushrooms
  • sprouts
  • slivered almonds
  • my cottage cheese/garbanzo/ranch creation

it was glorious. even better all mixed up.

i hated it.

i was going straight to the gym from work so right around quitting time i had to have some pre workout nutrition and i did so with a chocolate protein shake & bowl of cereal w/ almond milk.. hey, whatever is on hand!

good, good workout.

post workout i decided to try something new!

yes! finally tried some amazing grass that was sent to me to sample, thanks teri jo!  i mixed the package with 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond breeze.

i didn’t throw it in with any other ingredients because i wanted to see what it tasted like by itself.

here are my thoughts on the chocolate infusion amazing meal:

  • great ratio of carbs/protein/fat (13g/10g/1g)
  • 110 calories
  • includes digestive enzymes & probiotics
  • 6g of fiber
  • i liked the taste

  • a little chunky and not mixed very well.. i think this was just the downfall of the shaker bottle, next time i will use my bottle that had the little metal ball in it
  • some may hate the taste.. i can see why you might. it doesn’t taste like chocolate milk.. it tastes like the earth or something. may be a con for some.
  • 6g sugar~a little high when there are only 13g carbs in the whole package

all in all i enjoyed my experience with this stuff.  i am not too sure how great it is for a post workout drink but it suited me just fine because it was really small and low in calories and i was on my way out the door to go to dinner a short time later!

i am excited to try the other flavors.

dinner was out and about with the boyfriend..

corn bread that i couldn’t resist because it was piping hot and still steamy.. so i had a couple bites

and i enjoyed a cobb salad.. usually my go-to choise at restaurants because it includes lots of protein!! grilled chicken, egg, bacon, blue cheese, tomatoes, green onion, avocado & romaine

this sucker was HUGE!!!! (TWSS).. i didn’t eat it all. but i did eat all the chicken and avocado (duh!)

i woke up with a skip in my step because today is my friday with the state holiday tomorrow.  hooray!  55 more minutes until i am home free :D  i have had a couple mentionable meals today, so let’s get right to it.

this morning i went to my garage to get a vitatop out of the big freezer for my breakfast and the garage has a door separate from our house.. the door was locked! who did this? i didn’t even know the door had a lock! and i definitely didn’t have a key. so i improvised

greek yogurt, TJ’s 9 grain honey almond flax cereal & TWO mini vegan chocolate banana muffins.. yeah they are more like a dessert but desperate times called for desperate measures!

paired with some java, perfect breakfast!

closer look…

all mixed up…

nom nom nom.

lunch was another creation from the leftover stuff in the fridge!  i had my leftover broccoli & couscous from the other night mixed with some fat free feta & diced chicken..

i ate this cold, it was SO SO SO SOOOO good. i am adding mushrooms to the mix next time i make it. everything is better with fungus.

well now i am caught up!  i thought i had a lot to post but i guess it was just because the workout was rather long.  i am going to do some HIIT right after work and then head to a free outdoor concert.. they happen every thursday but i have been too busy to make it yet this summer.. so glad i finally get to go!  that is just the kickstart to the great weekend that will involve swimming, baking, cooking, BBQing, fireworks, sun-basking, dog parks, exercising, sleeping in, movies, good food, great friends, hikes in the mountains, bike rides and boyfriend.  yess.

how about some giveaways?

Holly (The Healthy Everythingtarian) July 24, 2009 at 7:49 am

okay, is it weird i always scan your comments for what your mom wrote? she is absolutely too friggin’ cute!

may i ask what a bulgarian split squat is? quite frankly, i kind of chuckled at the name at first – but since you are ripped, i figure it might be worth a shot :)

also, must make cottage cheese ranch concoction – putting it on the grocery list as we speak.

(1) weekend – nordstroms anniversary sale, run 13 miles, meet with our gal angharad, wedding, wedding shower then drive to wisconsin!

(2) outdoors…hmmm probably hiking or rock climbing, although i don’t get to do enough of either!

(3) shrooms (plain, uncooked) + olives. nasty shiz.

Colleen July 24, 2009 at 9:03 am

I think this is my first time commenting? Not sure – Love you blog! You’re so funny and your doggies are so cute!

1. Studying, can we say yuck? I might get some sunshine though… :)
2. Anything! If I could live outside I think I would, okay maybe the gnat and mosquitos would get to me, but still. Most favorite: Running, hiking, walking, tennis, and swimming

Colleen July 24, 2009 at 9:04 am

Love youR blog…I sound like I’m Irish!

allijag July 24, 2009 at 9:14 am

LOL – i love those sweet little faces! Lando does the same thing! They just don’t like it when we have the computers on our laps!

jenngirl July 24, 2009 at 9:42 am

1. Babysitting Saturday night, then going HOME for 2 whole weeks!

2. I love taking long walks in the afternoon with my iPod :)

3. I tried to like canned tuna, but it just won’t happen..I also HATE sub-par bread, like the white kind that restaurants serve that has no taste.

The Fit Collegiate July 24, 2009 at 10:13 am

Beautiful eats (per usual)!

1). Work (sigh). And maybe a date? We’ll see. :-)

2) Cross-country skiing at our cabin in Northern Wisconsin. Walks on the beach in Anguilla. Taking my dog on a walk in the fall. Bike riding in Northern Wisconsin. Canoeing up there, too.

3) Mayo! Yuck. And plain greek yogurt.

buffmuffy July 24, 2009 at 10:19 am

Yeah, I know … but I just want a month without one. Afterwards, sure. I only do them once every 2 weeks right now and I’m trying really hard to lose this weight … I’ll definitely still have a metabolism day every now and again (like yesterday lol) but not a cheat meal where i can eat anything i want – like pizza. LOL. Hopefully that makes sense.

Kailey July 24, 2009 at 1:06 pm

holy moly thursdays breakfast looks SO GOOD :)
now that I look back so does the corn bread. Corn bread is my favorite!

love your hair by the way :)

Courtney July 24, 2009 at 2:40 pm

lookingforserenity July 24, 2009 at 6:49 pm

Oh my gosh, snowboarding is my favorite too!! But two years ago I got a concussion from attempting to do a 360! (i’ve done them before, but I landed on ICE!) aah, do you live by any good hills?

Kristie July 24, 2009 at 7:42 pm

I’m totally with you on the spending too much on groceries. Our cupboards/fridge/entire kitchen is pretty overflowing right now. Looks like I’ve got some serious eating to do. I love fridge clearing meals :)

1 – This weekend – working. Maybe going out dancing tomorrow night. Maybe sunday night too. I like my dancing!

2 – Outdoor – I don’t know, lately I’m loving late night walks!

3 – There sure aren’t a lot of foods I don’t like but I’m not a big meat eater so most meats don’t give that well with me. And olives – ick.

elise July 24, 2009 at 8:36 pm

dude. all my $$ goes to groceries. i think i should start a tab at whole foods. its a problem. your massive salad rocks my world, especially sprouts…they really make salads that much better somehow.
somehow ive become obsessed with the chocolate amazing grass…lawn shavings aside, i really like the fact that im getting a sh!t ton of greens in at once. and call me crazy, but i actually like the sandy texture.

the pups are adorbz :)

Lara (Thinspired) July 25, 2009 at 3:08 am

YUMMA cobb salad!
Thank you for your comment on my last post! I really appreciate the support.
Um, I HATE mayo, raw tomatoes, and pickles.

Anne K. July 25, 2009 at 8:07 am

Oh my gosh, I love that pic of you with the dogs! You’re adorable :D

I love all the toppings on your salad! I really need to try jicama.

Your breakfast looks so yummy, too!

1) Tons of crazy stuff! Finishing setting up my apartment/checking out of the old one, looking at cars.. lots of running around!

2) running!

3) Celery! Ugh I hate it!

Lauren July 25, 2009 at 11:35 am

SUCH cute dogs! My pets do the same thing sometimes during my blog time… my cat walks all over the keyboard while my dog licks my hangs. I swear, they’re in it together ;).

The cobb salad looks so yummy – I just made a southwestern version the other night, which I will post about this coming week.
