a little food & a lot of rambling.

in meals,moves

hey hey heeeeeeey ladies!  so i just loaded my photos and i realized i don’t have much fabulous food to report, but i do have some photos of other items of business!

first off, have you all checked out caitlin’s operation beautiful??  if you have not, i highly suggest you do.  if nothing else, it will plaster a smile on your face.  i had not taken the chance to write any uplifting notes to myself or to others, but today as i was damning my freckles to hell i thought up a little something and my attitude towards the little brown dudes changed.. ok, maybe i still have some issues with my freckles, my 8” long scar on my left arm and my short, muscley legs.. but i think if i read this over and over enough.. i just might believe myself! :D

i have this posted up in my office.. and i am planning to make a plethora of other fun post-its and scatter them about the salty city in which i live!

speaking of my office, awhile back when coco’s blog was on the fritz, i did see that she tagged me in a little bloggie time wasting nonsense.  and you know me, anything i can do to take my mind off of quickbooks for 2 minutes sounds like a good time! SO.. without further ado, here ja go..

tag, i am it.. here are the rules:

1. Once you are tagged post a picture of where you blog.
2. Feel free to tell us a little about your space, or explain certain items in more detail. Or not.
3. Link back to the original post.
4. Tag five other bloggers to show their blogspots.

okay so i do most of my blogging from home on my laptop, but i also do some occasional blogging from my office.  and i know i talk about my office a lot.  and i read a whole slew of blogs from my office so i thought i would include this in my post.  plus, i haven’t been at my house in a couple days so i couldn’t take a photo of that blog station anywho.

meals 186

my work built an addition when i first starting working here, three new offices, two of which are mine.  yeah.. i have two offices, kind of weird, but i also have like 5 different titles here at my work so i guess it makes sense.  this is the office i use, the desk i sit at, all that jazz.  it is a little messy today! as you can see i have my beverage essentials: coffee on the left, water on the right.  i also have a houndstooth mousepad.. and houndstooth errrything..iam obsessed with houndstooth.

meals 185

here is another view of my desk… printer, photos, all that.  and a big blank bulletin board to the left! yeah i used to manage a team of 15 canvassers and i put their statistics on that board, but the program has ended and i have nothing to put there, but the boringness and blankness of it is giving me anxiety, so i need to think of something to throw up there soon.

you may have read that i work at a window company in an office without windows. irony for sure.  but i do have this window that looks out to the factory.. trust me, nothin to see!

meals 187

cute story: marshall and i met here at work. i work up here in my office and he used to build in the factory.  we worked together for 2 years before i knew he liked me.  every morning i would get to work, turn on my light and look out the window and he would wave at me.  later on, after we got together, he wrote a blog about me.. and here is a little bit from it, it makes me smile a whole bunch:

“over the next little while we talked more and became pretty good "work friends". needless to say i developed a huge crush on her.  she had her own office upstairs. i would go up and talk to her at least 3 times a week. it was usually after last break around 2 pm. break is 10 minutes long, but i would usually spend 20 to 30 minutes up there. her office has a window that overlooks the shop. everyday at about 745 to 815 a.m. i would make sure i was in position to see her turn on her office light and walk to her desk. she would always look down, smile and wave at me. it gave me butterflies everytime.”

awe. he’s cute.

here is a view looking out my office door..

meals 193

yes that is a candy jar, yes every single person i work with eats SO much candy all day, sure.. i let them. i don’t eat candy. i haven’’t since last december when i made my new year’s resolution of no more candy.  there is also a volcom snow globe to remind me of winter and a joy of cooking daily calendar!  that other glass thing is a paperweight..

meals 194

with a cartoon photo of mable in there. i love my photo paperweight! and also my personalized note pad one of my vendors gave me for christmas.. she gave me a stack of like 6 note pads..and spelled my last name wrong.  classy.

moving on!

mandatory items on my desk do include a calculator, pen, tape and calendar.. but also this photo sequence of my pup, mable, who passed away almost 2 years ago :(

meals 189 this is the imprint of her paw, as well as some photos i had done with mable and i on the left, and with blue and i on the right.  blue was my 25 pound british blue shorthair cat. dang i miss him! he lived to be 14 and then we had to put him to sleep due to stomach cancer.

meals 188

check out 19 year old janetha b.. haha!

meals 190

skate shoes and volcom shirts and black jelly bracelets. i loved being 19.

speaking of volcom, my boss just brought me back a sweeeeet bag from newport today, he was there on vacation, i love this bag!

meals 191

and check the inside.. so many pockets and pouches and compartments! i am a bag whore.

meals 192

okay now for the question part of the taggingness!

What are you wearing right now?

a mossimo dress from target. it was 20 bones. white sleeveless on top with a black empire waist band and grey on the bottom. don’t you love how mossimo used to be sooo expensive and they sold it at nordstrom and now it is at target?!

What’s the last thing you read/are currently reading?

well i just read that sentence, and now i am reading what i type. yep, i am a sarcastic one.

Do you nap a lot?

never, i have a hard time taking naps. but i am always so tired.. i should probably try to take naps, maybe this would help the problem?

Who was the last person you hugged?
the boyfriend, i was still sleeping though so it is a little blurry.

What’s your current obsession/addiction?
one more episode left of true blood season 1 and the addiction can be over. it is weird, i hate TV most times.. but that show sucked me in. also, i am always obsessed with houndstooth and kitchen gadgets.

What’s for dinner?
i am thinking of doing a dish with chicken breaded in wheat germ and using the blackberry sauce from the other night.

What was the last thing you bought?
ingredients for dinner last night, see below.

What are you listening to right now?
pandora radio on my phone, it is on the minus the bear radio. i LOVE pandora!

If you could have a superpower what would it be?

freeze time. and unfreeze anyone i want to while time is frozen. then i could sleep, exercise, cook, work while time is frozen, and have all the time in the world to play :)

What is your favorite weather and why?

blizzards. they mean super fresh powder days on the slopes.

What time do you usually wake up?

an hour before i have to be to work. my schedule changes day to day, but i am not one of those early risers who does anything before work. i wake up, get ready, get to work barely on time. i don’t think i will ever be a morning girl.

What is your most challenging goal right now?

running a 10k on the 4th of july.. because i have a dysfunctional knee.

Favorite pair of shoes that you keep going back to over and over again even though you have a zillion others?

$2.50 old navy flip flops. i am easy to please.

Name one thing you can’t live without?

dogs. particularly my dogs. and my mom <3

What time is bed time?
way too late for my own good. last night it was 12:45… 7 AM came too early.

If there was one place you could be right now where would it be?

on vacation, naturally. paid vacation at that. i want my next vacation to be either back to scandanavia or south america.

so now i tag 5 of you. do it, or don’t, but i hope you do because i like reading these things about people :)

1. Susan ~ trying for a tri

2. K ~ k’s good eats

3. Megan ~ healthy on the run

4. Jenn ~ this winding road

5. Ellie ~ inside i’m still dancing

WHEW! ok, so was that enough rambling for you? haha.. hope so.. hope you made it this far. i am going to quickly post my eats since this is already sooo long!

lunch was a big salad of

  • romaine
  • spinach
  • 3 colors of bell peppers
  • cottage cheese
  • cucumbers
  • cheddar cheese blocks
  • mushrooms
  • red onion
  • sprouts
  • hummmmus

meals 169 meals 168

and then dinner was spaghetti with meat sauce & salad.. i was lazy, this was easy.. enough said!

meals 175  meals 174

salad toppings..

meals 173

after dinner, i went on a run with penelope. my dog is not a runner.. oh yeah! and the doctor gave me a knee brace to use. it didn’t really help, unfortunately. they don’t know why my knee hurts so bad when i run. i got some xrays done and everything looks OK, except my knee caps slope slightly forward on the inner part of my knee.  they gave me some suggestions, a brace, an anti-inflammatory and a slip to go see a physical therapist. i guess i will see how it all goes!

i had a camera-shy apple & PB after my run and also marshall came home with a vanilla frosty that i ate half  had a bite of. and then i watched true blood into the wee hours of the night!

only have had bfast so far! alternative bagel sandwich w/ eggs & morningstar sausage & LCL:

meals 177

i wanted oatmeal but didn’t have any on hand.. i was feeling like PB & banana oats.. something sweet. but this still hit the spot.

and now i am going to try to find something to throw together for lunch…

in the meantime, you can tell me

1. what is your favorite clothing brand? when i was younger, like 14 years ago, i would only wear volcom. then it got all sorts of trendy and i realized i was being silly. currently, my fave brand is RVCA.

2. do you prefer sweet or savory breakfasts? i like a little of both.. like cheesy eggs with a slice of toast with PB.

this post is long as!  check ya later alligators.

how did you get Mable’s foot print?? I would LOOOVE to do that with my old doggy!
love your and marshall’s story.. soo sweet!!

janetha June 23, 2009 at 11:07 pm

hi cassy! when mable died, we opted to have her cremated. the vet’s office offered the paw imprint, so it was done after she passed away but before she was cremated. thanks for checking out my blog!

Coco Knudson June 23, 2009 at 3:36 pm

Awesome bloggie wasting time thing! haha I am glad you did it!!!!
I am naming this post awesomeness. –>awesome salad, awesome s-getti (go Italian!), awesome alternative breakfast sandwich. I am making one of those soon.
I am a total savory breakfast person, but I do like my sweet and satisfying bowl of oat bran or yogurt mess about 3x per week. I just can’t get enough of the incredible edible egg though!!!
Have a fabulous night my dear!!!!
What’s your heritage??? I’m Norwegian!

janetha June 23, 2009 at 11:09 pm

hey coco! i am from english (dad’s side) and dutch (mom’s side) descent. that is cool you are norwegian! i LOVE norway, i have several friends from there and have been over there once to visit. they mainly come here to SLC to snowboard, that is how i met all of them. norway is such an amazing place though.. i went to oslo, tonsberg and tjome.

ksgoodeats June 23, 2009 at 4:10 pm

Love the quote! I have tons and tons of scars on my legs from when I was a bona fide athlete. I look at as a way to show off – the one on my knee? Oh it’s from when I split my knee open and refused to get stitches :D Hard core!

Aww to the love story! That’s so sweet :) I can’t nap either! No matter how little sleep I get, no naps.

Fav clothing brand? Hmm…I can’t pick just one! I buy anything that’s cute! Breakfast? I guess sweet?

Susan June 23, 2009 at 5:14 pm

I enjoyed the office tour!! I’m going to do the same thing on my next office day. :) I’ll have to wait until daytime to take pictures of my blogging spot though. I can only imagine how sketchy my cheap flash will make my apartment look…

Love the message to yourself!! I’ll have to remember that the next time I’m cursing my big frizzy hair. (that’s a super cute photo btw!)

1. Whatever brand is cheapest!! Actually, I really like Moto jeans, but beyond that, I don’t really care. My roommie is always horrified by my lack of clothing knowledge.

2. Sweet!! My sweet tooth is CRAZY in the mornings. I usually have my chocolate for the day right after breakfast (which usually involves some sort of chocolate or nut butter to begin with) I love savoury breakfasts too though, just for lunch or supper ;)

Erin June 23, 2009 at 6:43 pm

Gurl, that story about your BF’s blog about you gave me goosebumps. So dang cute! He loves you so. Cool to see your workspace.

Beth June 23, 2009 at 6:59 pm

All those Mabel pictures are touching.

Hey girl, do you know of a good 10k running plan?

janetha June 23, 2009 at 11:11 pm

hi beth! haha i wish i did, i have not been training properly for my 10k. in fact, i have NEVER ran 10k straight in my life! i did some research and found a couple websites that probably would have been beneficial for me to look at a few weeks ago…

marisa June 23, 2009 at 7:34 pm

I love the 19 year old picture of you…but I think you’ll always be 3 or 4 to me. I think you should consider a chiropractor for your knee. I was reading about people doing that crazy Wasatch Back race and they had chiropractors at the stations to adjust people and one of them said the chiropractor saved her knee for her last leg…just an idea if you have coverage on your grown up insurance? See you soon! xo

april June 23, 2009 at 7:39 pm

Cute bag!!

I’m totally a sweet breakfast kinda girl.. the more sweet carbs the better!

Starr June 23, 2009 at 7:57 pm

Hi! Love the blog. BTW, I am soooooo curious. I used to work at a place called NVR and I had a window that overlooked a view just like your view-of the factory where the love of my life built trusses. WEIRD and very uncanny. Where is it that you work?

burpexcuzme June 23, 2009 at 8:18 pm

ooh! Thanks for the tour to your office space! That’s a pretty nice space you’ve got there…Are you sure you’re not the CEO? tee hee!
Fav clothes brand: abercrombie! What can I say? I’m a prep!
For breakfast, I like the combination of sweet and savory: pancakes, oatmeal, french toast with bacon, etc!

Mom June 23, 2009 at 9:20 pm

Oh my that Marshall…..I never read that post from him, what a cute guy!! I LOVE the bag and I even LOVE that great saying even more!! What a terrific idea and it is so, so true……I will try to embrace my thin, fragile, hair……yep, that’s what makes me unique all right!
Love you to the moon Neef, I couldn’t live without you xoxoxo

broccolihut June 23, 2009 at 10:35 pm

Love that bag!

insideiamdancing June 23, 2009 at 11:32 pm

I love seeing where people work and learning more about them- such a cute story about how you and Marshall met!

Thanks for the tag- will do it this afternoon!

Kailey June 24, 2009 at 6:17 am

aww i love the operation beautiful note :D super cute.
speaking of cute i love your bag!!

Michelle June 24, 2009 at 8:22 am

Cool! I loved being able to see your office and learn more about ya! That salad with cottage cheese looks amazing!! Happy Hump Day! :)

Jessica (jesslikesithot) June 24, 2009 at 12:09 pm

MMM, love your bagel sandwiches!!!

And haha!!! That 19 year old picture of you is classic! It’s so funny to see how much our looks change over a few years!

I ALSO love the little story of how you and the bf met, and your office space! It may be pretty basic, but you have lots of cute pictures displayed around which gives it a lot of flavaaaa! :)

emily (the experimentarian) June 24, 2009 at 2:35 pm

Oh I loooooove those alternative bagels. I keep waiting for my Wally World to have the blueberry again. Those were rockin’. But I think all the stockers know how good they are and thieve them before they hit the shelves :) I need sweet in the a.m. I am totally incomplete without at least fruit…I can’t even begin to pick a brand on clothing. I’m almost as obsessed with cute tees as I am with food ;)

runningyogini June 24, 2009 at 2:37 pm

I love that note! Isn’t being unique a good thing?! Then, why are we so afraid of being different? Hey, I used to have a workspace like yours when I was a technical writer, but my view was of tar and iron :-) Have a great day!!
