*first post on live writer..hope this works!*

do you ever have those days where you feel like you have been so busy doing things but then you take a step back and realize you really didn’t do much at all?  that was me, all day today.

let’s rewind to last night though before i dive into the nothingness that was today..


sooo, before joel, marshall took me out to biaggi’s, which is italian for the most part.

we started with the bread & oil & vinegar dankness.. i love balsamic.

i got some chicken business that was stuffed with gouda.. gahhh i LOVE gouda! well, i love all cheese, i don’t discriminate.. but gouda is goooooda.

and marshall got some porkchop dish..

(i ate most of his veggies and he ate most of my potatoes)

and then of course he had to get the tiramisu because i think he might like tiramisu more than he likes me.

i had probably four bites. sooo gooooood!

welp, that was that. i only ate half of my chicken and one potato wedge and marshall veggies. i am proud of myself because i usually eat everything when i go there and i usually walk away feeling like i have a food baby. i didn’t want to feel gnar for joel so i only ate until i was satisfied instead of being full.  this worked out much better for me!

ok, so joel mchale is freaking talllllllllllllll.  i wish i could have stood next to him because i would have probably went up to homeboy’s knee caps. no lie.  as i expected, he is way funnier in person!  he started his act out by making fun of celebrities and doing material that is similar to what he does on the soup but then he got into other material, stuff about his own life experiences, and that is when i started cracking up. i think i need to go to comedy shows more often, it is true what they say, “laughter is the best medicine”.

after the show we went and hung with some friends and around midnight marshall decided coffee was a good idea.. ok?  so we went to the usual greenhouse effect and i got a soy latte and marshall got a coffee and the strawberry crepe i have pictured here before.. you might remember.


sooo i woke up today and really didn’t do much of anything at all.  i read some blogs, hung out with my roomies and wondered if it was going to rain again.  well, then at 10:35 i decided i was hungry.  this was a bad time to decide i was hungry because i had to be to penelope’s class at 11.  i wanted eggs, but had no time to cook them. meh, i cooked anyways.  i think this was the fastest breakfast i have ever whipped together!

i was going to shred the taters but i chopped them because i was in a rush.  they turned out really good anyway and the sweetness paired well with the spicy eggs! i made a plate for my roomie too. i love cooking for people :D

well the exciting part of my day was that penny graduated from intermediate canine class!  yesss! what a smart little gal!  i am going to wait until she is a bit older to take the advanced class.  she will be 1 in august.  once she passes advanced, she will get her CGC=canine good citizen and i will be able to take her anywhere i want!  grocery store? sure. shopping mall? no problem. amusement park? totally allowed.. but probably won’t take her there ;)

i came home to two cool pieces of mail!

first was the newman’s pretzels i won from curly top’s giveaway! thanks girl! this is the first and only giveaway i have won!

after class i took about two hours to decide to go to the gym.  i was a procrastination station for sure.  i had a snack while procrastinating.. fuji & PB

when i finally did get my butt in the car and drive to the gym, a freaking monsoon struck the SLC!  i kid you not, sheets and sheets of rain! i didn’t want to get drenched just walking into the gym so i decided to grocery shop first and then head back to the gym.

i hit up sunflower market and whole foods.. i love sunflower because it has everything WF’s has but WAY cheaper.  except they were out of 0% greek yogurt so i had to go to WFs to get that.

i am so excited to show you my groceries!  i got SO many new things!  first  will show the produce and the fancy shmancy new basket thing i got at costco (only $20!) to hold my produce!

i am THINKING about cutting dairy for some health reasons. i use protein powder a LOT. so i thought i would buy this kind and give it a try, since i usually use whey protein powder.

yaaaay! so stoked on this, had to buy dos!

whew, such a long haul! after the store i went to the gym and really wasn’t feeling it. so i wussed out and rode the bike for an hour and then left.  i think the rain is making me lethargic.  that’s my story and i’m sticking to it!

okay so then i went home and had energy so i cleaned my entire house top to bottom, side to side.  it took forever. but now it is clean for today, and maybe for tomorrow. oh but guess what? i turned on the garbage disposal and glass shot up AT MY FACE.. um. there was a shot glass down there. needless to say, the garbage disposal is now out of commish.

it was goooood. but i think i like the EAS whey protein flavor better. sigh, sad to say. i will keep trying to find a non-dairy protein powder that i dig. any suggestions?

so then i hung up my roommate’s awesome mirror in my kitchen. it’s glorious, to say the least. yes that is a mirror and yes it is a unicorn. it’s ok to be really jealous of me.

THEN! i made danica’s sesame ginger salad dressing and left out the soy sauce. not a fan. and subbed in agave instead of sugar or honey.

make the dressing! it IS SO GOOD!  it had olive oil, balsamic, agave, water, ginger, sesame oil and garlic. all blended up. it IS BOMB.

and then i blogged, my computer died and so i had an unphotographed bowl of cereal because i was craving it and anne had got me thinking about my craving and i just gave in! but kept it to one bowl (twas PB puffins + frosted mini wheats, with almond milk, by the way)

then i recharged the old laptop and am finishing this up!  so looking back.. i had a busy day but nothing really eventful happened at all!  plus i feel lame for missing out on the bar, a party AND a graffiti show.. but i couldnt get the motivation up to do any of that business. one of those nights i guess, i just don’t feel like getting ready. sigh, i guess i will have to make tomorrow a tad more exciting, no?

hope you all had a more eventful saturday than i did.  let’s go over my two questions i have already asked, because i want answers!

1. how the freak should i cook my kabocha?

2. any suggestions for a delicious dairy free protein powder (that is relatively low in carbs)?

oh and i have a third question actually..

3. you all talk about foam rollers. i’ve seen them before, but you all say they are like a torture device.. um what exactly are you DOING with the foam roller? i seriously want to know. should i have one of these??

Busy days full of nothingness are the story of my life!! Ugh.

That Italian food looks fantastic. It’s amazing the difference when I only eat till “satisfied” at restaurants. I always feel like I have to eat everything to get my money’s worth, but always feel soooo much better when I keep the portions down.

Love the idea of sweet potato hash browns!! I’ll have to try that…

My city is culture-less and doesn’t carry any fun produce, so I have no idea what to do with kabocha. My first impulse would be to bake it and cover it in brown sugar and cinnamon :)

I find the foam roller to be quite soothing, except when I start rolling my IT band. I basically put the roller on the ground, hoist myself up so my upper thigh is on top of the roller, then push myself back and forth so the foam roller moves over my IT band. I can only do it for like 20 seconds at a time until the pain gets too intense! I’m told it helps loosen up the muscle though, kinda like a deep massage would.

Let me top the comment above: my city is so cultureless, that I have no idea what kaboocha is :P

I can relate to the “OMG! It’s already *insert time* and I’ve done absolutely nothing!”-feeling…

In fact i’m getting that feeling…. right about now.

But it’s cool that you ate until you were satisfied, I find that it feels difficult when your eating, but after you’ve had your meal and you don’t have a “food baby”, you feel so much more happy.

And personally, I think freckles are completely adorable!



P.S. If ever in Amsterdam again, just tell me and we’ll hang out ;)

CONGRATS to Penny!! What a smarty! LOVE the grocery haul!! I wish I could find the alternative bagels – they sound like a fun change!

Scary about the shot glass! I would have screamed!! I think you can roast kombucha like you would a bnut squash. I have no idea when it comes to protein powders (don’t use ’em :( ). Foam rollers – I never understood the appeal. When I was training my trainer would have us use them and everyone else would ooh and ahh over it but I’d get bored and just go bounce on a bosu (and then get in trouble HAH!)!

And rain definitely makes me lethargic, sometimes it’s a good thing, but other times, I just feel worthless, haha.

Ahh your eats and grocery finds look sooo good.. I LOVE naturally more PB and PB PUFFINS!! Wooop, delisiH! I love Italian food.. it’s probably so bad for you but it’s ohhh soooo good!

And I can’t help you with your first two questions, but a foam roller is like a self massage (kinda?). You roll over it on your calves/hamstrings when they’re tight with all of your body weight and it kind of hurts but it helps loosen your muscles soo much! I love it and I don’t even know how I could survive without mine!

I love Italian food! Glad you had a fun night! How do you make huevero ranchero? they look REALLY good! Loving your mail- I never win giveaways but that necklace is so cute!

Love your produce holder! I use…hehe, a giant cereal bowl :P (then wonder why my breakfast overflows from my smaller bowls!) Will be keeping an eye on kabocha replies- i want to try it! Sophia over at Burp and Slurp has some great ideas :) I’ve never had puffins but they get RAVE reviews! ENJOY!

I don’t use protein powder but Sun Warrior has had some great reviews.

I have nooooooooo idea what people are talking about when they say foam roller. Am guessing it’s something different than what old people stick in their hair.

That tiramisu looks incredible! Yum. I’m glad you avoided having a food baby–I hate that feeling! I can only tolerate having them on special occasions :)

I’m so glad Joel was great! He sounds hilarious. And dude, I have a kabocha but have no idea how to cook it! Let me know if you find out!

And omg so freakin scary about the shot glass! I would’ve flipped the hell out. I’m glad you’re okay!

I can answer your third question! I roll out my IT band, quads, calves, and glutes. So I position myself on it and roll back and forth to release the fascia. It gets all tight when I run, and will pull on my knee and cause pain if I don’t do it. Ah i’m glad joel was fun times! Sounds magical :D I use Spirutein protein powder, which is delish and soy-based….I think Egg White powder is still dairy no?? I drink the dub chocolate fudge spirutein which is good times! I’ve also heard sun warrior is good! It’s nice to sample them though so you’re not stuck with a jug full o nasty. Comedy shows are FUN! We saw Louis CK recently and now I want to be in more environments where people just laugh together.

I feel compelled to try kabocha, but have not yet.

I’m vegan, and my go-to is brown rice protein. The brand I currently have is Nutribiotic, I think? (I could get up and look in the cupboard, but I’m comfy on the couch :) ) I also have some PlantFusion protein, which is completely plant-based. Upon purchasing this I discovered that I really dislike stevia. But if you like stevia, you might like this stuff. I still use it occasionally; hate to waste. And, hemp is good. You can get powder but I usually just get the hulled seeds and add them to salads, smoothies, whatev.

Whoa, you could have lost an eye or two with that shot glass fiasco……call the landlord quick, get the disposal fixed.
I was about to go into the whole hair curler foam roller dialogue, but figured out that the foam roller is a totally different contraption! Further, I am SO jealous about your wonderful Italian meal – esp the Tiramisu…….oh heaven! Your food finds sound good, I will have to branch out and try some new stuff! Love you to the moon xoxoxo

Right when I read how you hate your freckles, I was thinking about how cute they were!!!!!! Furrrr real! :)

But girlllllfriend, one hour on the bike is no cop-out, that’s a great workout!! It definitely sounds like you had a productive gym sesh! Workin’ those buns and thighs! haha!

foam rollers are PAINFUL if you have a lot of knots! they’re so amazing though because they help work the knots everywhere out :) i haven’t watched the dvd that came with mine yet but i’m interested in seeing what other exercises and such you can do with it :) i thiiiiiiiiiiink i’m gonna go foam roll now!

uhhh usam is big containers…that’s awesome.

Gouda is one of my favorite cheeses as well, and that tiramisu looks divine.

Saturday’s breakfast looks awesome! I’m more of an eggs-for-dinner kinda girls, so I might have to recreate this dish for an evening meal :)

Jay Robbs Egg White Protein powder is the only non-whey one I like. I tried hemp and it’s nasty. Try the chocolate or strawberry egg white Jay Robb – they are a bit better than the vanilla. You get used to it after awhile.

Love all your grocery store finds – still waiting for the Whole Foods to open up closer to me – the nearest one is about 35 minutes away.

Go see Maggie’s blog at http://www.thesaladgirl.com – she has kabocha just about every day, so I consider her an expert! I’ve never been able to find that at my local grocery store.

i am a bad bloggie bc i have no idea what a kabocha is lol… but i have seen that word on everywhere on ppls sites… i guess i really should look it up :)

I use Genisoy Soy protein powder. But honestly it’s not that great … I tried it once in a smoothie and it didn’t dissolve :( It was very scary lol.. So now I just use it to make protein powder pancakes.

That tiramisu is lookin might fine girly :)

I’m procrastinating doing my homework, and since I love your blog, I thought I would go back and read some of your archives. Just wanted to say that I LOVE your freckles! I know most people that have them, hate them, but I think they are gorgeous!
